Rocks it! Matt is a magician with the bottles. Seriously a Bartender to behold. Never missed a drink and a total wonder to watch. The man keeps his eye on the ball and can shake, stir, and pour world class. Back alley entrance and the feel of the original bootleg, except for the fact that nearly every one knows about it. Come here. I implore you. You will be treated to good drink, good company, and just watch Matt go!

First impression is not necessarily the last impression. I am new to Seattle and this neighborhood, so it was weird to walk down the alley and wait outside a door that looks like backdoor or emergency exit. The guy at the door was very sincere and polite. He would ask the headcount to every guest, would walk in, check if there is any room, come back out and would ask to either get in or to wait. Warning: «You can not add in the headcount your friends who are not at the door already.» Inside it looks like an archaic yet pretty house/library. The lightings give an illusion of candle-lights. The moment I walked in I no more had doubts about what I had heard about the place. The ambiance was great. Different group of people would share the rooms, yet it is easily manageable for people to talk among themselves. This and light music in the background gives the feel of a house-warming party(not the crazy but the sophisticated one). Now was the time to check one of the major reasons we go out — DRINKS! I tried three of their cocktails, I do not remember the names but I picked the ones with gin in them. I also tasted few sips from my friends’ drink and none of the drinks we all ordered were a disappointment. But then again, it could be because we gave a good thought before ordering what we wanted. The server helped and she knew enough about every drinks. This might seem obvious to some of you but I have been to many places where the server would have no idea or insight about the cocktails. I forgot to mention that my friend and I originally went there just to hang out for a while and have one drink. The feel-good factor was so relaxing that we only left because we had to join other friends of ours who could not get in there. Overall, I would totally recommend this place if you enjoy quality chatting time with your friends and quality alcohol. For others like me who would question getting in after looking at this place from outside, I would repeat the cliché: Do not judge the book by its cover, and do not judge a bar by its door. :D Happy Drinking!

Waited for 20 min on a friday night around 10:45pm. It was cool looking on the inside, but we didn’t love our drinks. Prices were reasonable but i wish they tasted better. We sat at the bar which is very intimate, but our bartender was a little awkward. i didn’t feel comfortable sitting so close to someone who wasn’t very good at making you feel welcome. Which I feel like… in this particular setting… is part of the job. I say check it out if there is no line. Otherwise go somewhere else.

It’s like in an alley lol! Had to show ID coming in, it was like an exclusive club or something. Even had a line when we left. Anyways, going in, they were like it’s kind of full, and are we ok with standing for a little bit. We eventually sat down, but the place is crowded somewhat. Bartenders are really really nice. It’s a nice, low lighting, chill place, where you can just kick back and drink and catch up with folks. Even have a date here if you wanted to. Would definitely come here again. Has a nice brick-feel to it.

I’ve been here a few times and it’s especially great to bring visitors to. I’d lean more towards a 4 for that purpose, but for me living here I go 3 because it’s not really somewhere that pops into mind when I’m thinking of where to go. I think it’s kind of lost the speakeasy novelty appeal over time. You can get a variety of experiences here — sit at the bar, have your own little table or be in the library where it’s a little more communal. That can be a positive or a negative depending on what you’re lookin for. In my experience the wait time for drinks has also been mixed — ranging from crazy fast to missing our order. Definitely hit up this spot once if you’ve never been! Unique experience.

Easily one of my favourite places in Seattle! We attempted to go on a Saturday night and found a line up out the door… well, that wasn’t going to happen! We returned on Sunday and it was blissfully quiet! The interior is cosy, with low lighting and lots of dark wood — it really feels like a speakeasy! We always try and get a spot at the bar upstairs, or the little window table if we can’t get the bar. We arrived in time for happy hour, which was amazing, and I adored my drink! I was hoping to squeeze in another before the end, but hot damn those drinks are strong. One drink in I felt 3 drinks tipsy by any other bar’s standards! It’s the perfect place to have great conversations, overhear some hilarious tidbits, and enjoy some ridiculously perfect drinks! Highly recommended — just don’t go when I’m planning to, I hate having to wait! ;)

Beware people– this place has a capacity of only 39 people according to the doorman, but once we finally got inside, it felt like even fewer than 39 people could fit inside. Place has a super cool vibe, and it’s fun to grab a drink, but I wouldn’t stay here long. It’s so small and cramped, and so loud. We hung around the bar for maybe 20 minutes before we left to find somewhere with more space. Definitely don’t come here with a group of people.

What a let down. All around. Came here the day before valentines day around 7:30 pm. I am a huge sucker for all things hidden bar/speakeasy so I am very easily impressed in that department. That being said I am also very picky about the quality of a craft cocktail. We waited outside for about 30 mins which was fine, because I was expecting very cool ambiance inside and some great craft cocktails. Neither were delivered. As you enter into the bar there is downstairs seating with about three tables pushed up against a wall and when you go to the right there is a room. Just a room where you awkwardly stare at the wall for your duration at the bar. We tried to sneak a peak upstairs where the bar was to see what else this place was about, but a bouncer guarded the stairs and would not let us see upstairs. Really underwhelmed by the environment at this bar. If the environment and ambiance wasn’t a let down enough, the drinks were so uninspired. I had the devils teardrop which literally tasted like it was made with sweet and sour, it was a complete joke. Hubby got the red hook which was solid, but I have had that exact drink at too many bars to count. I guess the only good thing about the drinks was the price, they were«only» $ 11, which is ok for the craft cocktail scene in Seattle. I do wish I would have known the drinks were garbage though so I could have saved $ 25. The staff at this bar were good though, 3/5, not overly friendly but not rude or inappropriate in anyway. We ended up leaving fairly early as sitting in a room staring at a brick wall was not our idea of a romantic bar adventure. We headed over to the Upstairs which is a better bar with better drinks. If you are in the market for a fantastic craft cocktail with a speakeasy vibe I would recommend Knee High Stocking Company in Capitol Hill. Their cocktails are delicious, they have a reservation system in place where you can communicate where you would like to be seated, as they have a basement section as well. Overall, skip this place and try a bar with better drinks and better atmosphere.

This is a cool speak-easy bar in the hip neighborhood of belltown. I live in the area so have been here a number of times, and always had a great experience there. Its entrance is from an alley behind a parking lot, giving it a shady vibe. It’s a small area with an upper and lower section. As you enter, there is practically no place to stand and you have to go look for an empty nook to sit at. We have, on many occasions, turned away because we simply had no place to sit. I wish the doorkeeper would advise this while we enter. It has quiet ambiance and dark lighting, giving it a perfect date vibe. They have many sections, as if it’s made in someone’s house, and you’re moving between rooms. It emphasizes the speakeasy nature of the place and is really cool. The drinks are pretty solid, but not very strong. I’ve never been disappointed by the drinks. The prices are slightly on the higher side, as it is at any other place in the area. The service is incredibly friendly & polite. I’ve enjoyed coming to this place, and recommend it for a quite date night or a small group.

This was a lovely little spot. Almost missed it in the alleyway between streets had there not been a small group of people hovering around a door. Incredibly kind and polite bouncer who was gracious enough to scoot away a guy who was holding up our seats at the bar. I ordered the Devil’s Teardrop and as a gin lover I was amazed. It has a sweetness from the pear but the slight pepper oil cut the sweetness and ended my taste with a smokey flavor. Amazing and so smooth. Will definitely be back. Good luck if you’re not with 1 – 2 other people. The place is TINY.

A really neat speakeasy tucked behind a darker part of Seattle. My friend and I came in, waited a while to find a seat since the establishment may only fit 30 people at a time. We grabbed a little table and our waitress was extremely helpful in helping us choose a cocktail. Because of my indecisiveness, I went with bartender’s choice where the bartender could make anything he/she wanted with the flavors and alcohols I preferred. I went with a fruity taste with a clear liquor. It was great, no complaints, but not out of this world or anything. — — — — — — — - I think the atmosphere of this place and the great waitress who gave us restaurant recommendations really makes this place special.

Since we were already downtown from dinner in the area, we walked over to a speakeasy, Bathtub Gin & Co. It’s a really small spot and seats are limited, but there is no passcode required for entry. The intimate space, dim lighting and handcrafted cocktails were spectacular and I really appreciated the quality of their craft at the bar. My friend wasn’t in the mood to drink, but inquired if they had fruit juices. Since they make most of their juices fresh, they only had pineapple while others were bottled. Lucy settled on pineapple instead to quench her thirst. Jade and I got cocktails instead. I went with the Deathstar — bourbon, fig & maple syrup and lemon juice. It was definitely on the sweeter side, but Lucy taste tested and said it was strong. Maybe I’m just desensitized to the taste since I enjoyed it so much. We finished up and received our bill, but it’s not your typical paper. The cocktails are hand drawn with the prices next to it. It’s super neat! The whole experience was pretty cool and I would like to return if in the area.

Warning: If you come here, they might steal money from you. I checked my credit card statement for this place, and found out that they ended up giving themselves a dollar more than I had left as a tip on a drink. What?! I think it’s up to me to decide how much I want to tip you. You have no right to modify the amount of money that I write down on the credit card receipt. Absolutely unacceptable. Also, my friends and I each had the Death Star, and we all agreed it was too syrupy and sweet. I am never coming back to a place that thinks taking extra money from me without my consent is at all okay.

This place was really cool! My friend took me here while visiting Seattle and it was the perfect place to come after a spectacular dinner at Black Bottle just a few blocks away. The bouncer was really cool and let us into the small but tasteful space. It was pretty crowded on a Saturday night but we settled into the downstairs area that resembled a library. I ordered a Bearcat which was delicious! I opted for it without the scotch which really made it a champagne cocktail with strawberry jam and lemon. It was tart and delicious which was I loved! I would definitely order it again. The overall ambiance of this place was pretty cool. All of the patrons were congenial and willing to make room for everyone in the tiny space. Our cocktail waitress was really nice and even gave my friend a free drink since she confused her order with someone else’s order. I liked the old 1920s feel of this speakeasy and I would definitely return.

This place has a cool, speakeasy type vibe and very stiff drinks. We waited about 10 minutes to get seated and once we did, ordered some drinks. I tried the tequila & pineapple juice cocktail and it was damn strong. I could barely taste the pineapple juice or other ingredients in it. I’d say it’s worth checking out if you like your drinks super strong and want a chill atmosphere but I’d prefer to have a tastier cocktail, otherwise, I would have ordered whiskey on the rocks or something without mixers.

Not sure what happened, but the staff we encountered was pretty bad. The bouncer outside was rude and cold. We were then seated in the downstairs area and the server was not friendly. If you can get seats at the bar, go for that. Otherwise, I say skip it.

You’re not going to find this place. And if you do, don’t tell them I sent you. With super limited space availability, it’s no wonder that people will often have trouble crowding in. The setup is compact yet practical. You enter through a back door, and there’s only 2 choices, up or down. Up takes you to the small bar, and down takes you to the few tables. A waitress covers the downstairs seating, but we found ourselves at the long corner table by the bar upstairs. It worked out because we were serviced directly by Matt the bartender. Even though he had a at capacity bar, he still made regular rounds to make sure that everyone was properly lubricated. Eye contact actually works here! -=-Death Star-=- Knowing this is a Gin Bar, I still got the whiskey, because it was on the cocktail list. The lone whiskey cocktail was the Death Star. It was along the lines of a sweeter old fashion and was everything I thought it would be. After a couple of these, it was time to move on the something not so sweet, and Matt was able to mix me up another whiskey cocktail bartender’s choice. This is a class bar. Hell, come in a suit.

You can never run out of speakeasies to go to in Seattle! I came here on a weekday so there wasn’t a wait at all. For those of you who are confused about where this is located, it’s actually located in the open alley way near the parking lot. The door isn’t too obvious, but I’m sure if you go on a Friday or Saturday night, you’ll see people lining up to get in since it’s a pretty small bar. However, I do love the way that this place is laid out. There’s two floors, and it’s a pretty cozy place. They have happy hour here too, so if you might want to come then to save a few bucks on drinks! When I came with my friend, the bartender was awesome and friendly. The drinks here are solid. The bartenders here can whip up pretty good cocktails! However, I don’t love this place enough to give it 5 stars. I’d definitely come back here about just for the chill atmosphere, but I might head to another bar if I were to pay ~$ 12 for a cocktail.

Sometimes I dont feel like going to a crowded azz bar, actually I feel like that a lot. Well this is a perfect place because its so small that it wont fit huge crowds. BG& Co is a super small bar, forgot how many can fit in there. So small you may feel cramped. There’s usually a door guy that will know the count and let you in or not. As you approach, it looks like people are standing around smoking in an alley, no, they are waiting to get in. Located in the alley between Bell & Blanchard on 2nd Ave. Its closer to the 2nd& Blanchard side. Im sure you will walk by it, look on the wall for the tiny sign on the brick wall and wooden door with address next to it. We were lucky to just walk right on in with a small table available downstairs. Its pretty dim in there and not much décor, except for the little bathtub. Good drink menu to choose from and service was fine. Didnt get a chance to go upstairs as we only had time for 1 drink. But overall, I would come back here. Cool little spot to check out(I mean that figuratively & literally). FYI: «WC» = Water Closet=bathroom

This place is so hard to find but once you’re in, you’re IN. Walk down Blanchard between first and second, and the door is in an alleyway. It’s pretty small, but there’s a cool library space on the bottom level for a bigger group. Happy hr from 5 – 7: wine is $ 6 and cocktails are $ 7. We tried the Atticus finch which was the perfect mix of sweet and savory. They have a very creative cocktail list and this is a definitely a spot for more sophisticated taste. The atmosphere is pretty dark and cozy. I could imagine spending an entire night here trying the different mixed drinks. Sadly no sort of food menu. Very cool, Seattle. Very cool.
