Worth the long drive from the central district to the wild west. Intimate, modern, simple décor. The menu is small, but interesting. The food is fresh and bright(really, the antipasti for 2 was lovely and colorful). We both had pastas for our entrees and were very happy(the dungeness crab that was stuffed into homemade pasta pillows((I think it’s called agnolotti)) is now on my cravings list). Nice wine list; someone there clearly knows their stuff. Staff was both nice and very professional(which sometimes can be underrepresented in this city).

I went here for the first time during the 5 for $ 35 thing in the Spring. Of course in Seattle that means rainy and cold. I got the truffle risotto. I don’t know if you know this but i likes me some risotto. Its like classy comfort food. It was amazing. The servers were so nice and the place is cozy yet trendy for west seattle and all in all a great meal at a local chic place. I need to go again.

~Contented sigh~ If you haven’t been back in a while, what are you waiting for? Hubby and I sat out on the patio on a warm… no…hot Saturday. We sipped on cool glasses of Muller Thurgau while nibbling on fresh favas dressed with olive oil and served with cherry tomatoes. Next up, a light meal featuring the Dungeness Crab Agnolotti… to die for. Because I just couldn’t pass it up, we also had the gnocchi special featuring taggiasca olives and the housemade sausage. News bulletin: Drop by the patio for a glass of wine between 4:30−6pm and you’ll get some nummy snacks, Beato-style, on the house.

If you are in the market for a stellar food/wine experience, this is your place! If you are looking for mammoth, gluttonous portions… go to Old Country Buffet. First, the wine flight was amazing. Each one better than the next, but all on par with the best wine I’ve ever tasted. Rumor has it that the owner has built his restaurant around his wine collection. Considering my wine experience, I don’t doubt that at all. Food: The piatto misto provided the perfect start with a wonderful mix of meats, cheeses, olives, and other tasty treats. Next up was a great salad with crayfish and possibly one of the best cold soups ever. I can’t say enough about the butternut squash soup, poured over watercress and hard-boiled quail egg. Divine! For the main course, I must say that my albacore was over-cooked, but being one that prefers albacore sashimi, I can only blame myself. I should have gone with the pork tenderloin. I did sample the oxtail ragu fettuccine, which was amazing, but you had better hurry if you want this as it seems it will soon be rotated off the menu until the fall. All in all, my experience was tremendous. I cannot believe such a place has existed in the midst of West Seattle for a year and a half and I’m just now getting there. The timing of everything was perfect and the price was reasonable. Also, given the level of cuisine, a pretentious wait staff wouldn’t surprise me, but this wasn’t the case. The service was great and the staff, quite knowledgeable. It isn’t cheap eats, but for what you get you would almost certainly expect to pay much, much more. Do not hesitate… you won’t be disappointed! (Update 11÷13÷08) I’m sad to say that Beato is closing it’s doors tomorrow. They had a fabulous, but all too short run. We’ll miss you Beato!

Go here if you appreciate the art of dining and aren’t concerned about spending a few extra bucks for it. If you are a true foodie, I’m sure you will be blown away. As one reviewer noted, the portions are not big, but — guess what?! — this isn’t a TGIF or Outback SteakHouse. get over it! I have tried most of the great restaurants in Seattle and after 2 visits to Beato I’ve got to say that it has earned a coveted spot in my top5 list! Every single dish is thoughtfully prepared with only the finest ingredients(and every dish is beautifully presented). Bonus Story: I had an amazing chocolate desert that had an olive oil topping; it sounds weird, but it was incredible tasting! We asked our waitress about it and she said that she was in culinary school and it was her idea — that was really a great thing to hear from her, I love that they are willing to experiment with new, brave flavor combos suggested by their knowledgeable staff!

The best part about our meal here was the brussel sprouts. Mmm, carmelized with honey, they were delicious. However, I didn’t pay $ 110 to go eat brussel sprouts. That cost was for 1 wine flight, 1 appetizer, and two entrees, plus tax and tip. The wine flight was middle of the road and the meat was fine. The charcuterie plate was very small and the quality was low, with clashing tastes on the palate. We didn’t stay to try dessert. Considering the price, I’d rather go somewhere else in the future.

What a great find and in the WS hood. Just had dinner here with my wife, We are notoriously hard to please especially with Italian but we were both suitably impressed. We started with a wonderful seasonal soup of creamed asparagus with a salad of spring peas and pea greens in the center of the bowl. The salad was presented in the bowl alone and our server poured the soup around it filling the bowl for a beautiful and unique presentation. I had a really wonderful fettucini with oxtail ragu and truffle oil. Delicious handmade and delicate pasta that simply can’t be faked(I make my own at home) with a deep and complex sauce of oxtail and tomato all perfectly set off with the earthy truffle oil. Finest pasta I’ve had since Emillia Romagna. My wife had a fantastic Risotto Limone al accompanied by a respectable and reasonably priced flight of Super Tuscan’s. Finished up with a nice dark chocolate torte in an amazing house made caramel sauce. All in all a really lovely experience with a knowledgeable and attentive staff. Our new favorite in WS maybe even in Seattle proper. PS Please get full liquor license. Would have loved a grappa to finish.

The food was fine, but not remarkable — actually, that’s not true. All four of us remarked on the tiny portions, and also on the incredibly high prices. For dessert, we ordered a(very tasty) dish with a tiny scoop of chocolate ganache, a still-smaller dab of whipped cream, and — get ready for it — a QUARTEROF A PEAR. Not a full pear, not a half. A quarter. At what point does a dining experience leave the surreal and cross into the insulting? About the time when you’re given a quarter of a pear. I love good food. Thomas Keller is my God. I am happy to blow a few hundred bucks per person on a truly fine meal. This wasn’t it. However, the wine list was good, ambiance quite nice, and it’s a fine place to take a date if you’re willing to blow a goodly amount of money on an only above-average meal.

If you’re on some kind of cruel starvation diet or aspire to be a skinny, anorexic betch, then this is the place for you! Two stars because the some of the food was actually good. There just wasn’t much of it. :( I paid $ 14 for crepes that were supposed to be filled with smoked salmon and ricotta. The salmon mixture was kind of dry, but pretty flavorful. I expected it to be a lot creamier inside from the ricotta, but sadly that was not the case. I asked for extra crème fraîche to make the filling a little richer, and some Tabasco for some heat. I tried the goat cheese fritata, which was really good, but again, too small, and as a result, unsatisfying. We all left kind of hungry and I had to stop by a Chinese noodle shop on my way home to satiate my hunger. Please make your portions larger! And no, I’m not some obese overeater. I’m just a little bunneh with a healthy appetite! They don’t have to be disgustingly large Claim Jumper size portions, but don’t let your customers leave hungry!

Just tried to walk in without reservations and forgot how small the place was. It was about 7 pm and wasn’t really interested in driving around looking for another spot. So, we snuck up and sat at the bar. One of us had the 30 for $ 30 special and I had the short ribs. I’ll be honest, there were some weird combinations for the appetizers. My scallops and frisee were totally overwhelmed by the pomelo. She had beets, which was prett good, but also overpowered everything else on the plate. They both sounded better than they tasted. I had the short ribs, which were pretty tasty, but paled in comparison to her risotto, which was excellent! Portions were on the small side, but pretty tasty. She finished with the panna cotta and I admit to have a bit of food envy over it. Not a destination place, but a place to pop in again every once in awhile.

Excellent atmosphere, incredible wine list, great service, top notch food. This is an incredible restaurant to have in our little neighborhood of West Seattle. The ladies and I had a wonderful time. Clearly this restaurant deserves 5 stars… so why only 4? The food portions were so small it was almost laughable. I realize you’re supposed to order small plates but when adding $ 10 here $ 20 here and so on it gets awfully pricey. We started our dinner out with a cheese appetizer which was lovely(actually a decent size portion) then salad and a main course. I’m not a dessert eater so I passed that up but seriously… still hungry. All in all awesome restaurant for us to have here in West Seattle but it isn’t somewhere I could bring my husband to. He’d still be hungry.

The food was yummy, the wines were lovely, but if you ever tend to feel this weird urge to break things when you are in the Bön Marche plate flood, or to yell really loud when things are just a bit too quiet, this place may not be for you. A girlfriend of mine and I sat at the bar and while we really enjoyed the yummies, the bar a just a slight bit raised, giving you the feeling of being on display and every time we would drop a fork or knife we would guiltily glance around to see if people were giving nasty stares… soooooo quiet!!!

Great little neighborhood bistro, especially if you want a romantic place to enjoy a wine flight and some Salumi salami and cheese. Our server(Molly) was excellent and not at all overbearing, but we did have other staff come to our table a number of times which did intrude somewhat. The portions are indeed small, but that means you’ll have room for dessert and you won’t leave feeling overstuffed. The peppered gnocchi with fennel & house-made sausage was excellent, as well as the chocolate madeleine cake. Skip the gelato — it was heavy and flavorless.

We’ve been here several times. The food has always been excellent, the wine flights extremely tasty and the ambiance romantic. I have to agree with magalie d. about the service… a little overbearing and once you’ve been to the restaurant five or six times, the lines(e.g. «this is from the new bakery in the junction») get a little stale. Still, it won’t stop me from ranking this as my current favorite spot to eat outside of Woodinvale.

I decided to try this place based on the recommendation of a friend, but I really wasn’t sure what to expect. The meals were very good, and beautiful to look at, and I recommend their veal ribs with the fennel marmalade. Our waiter was a lot of fun and very attentative, and the space it charming. I agree with Tiffany D. — a full bar would be nice. The final bill was around $ 45 for 2 of their priciest dishes, and one anti-pasta. I hadn’t paid attention to the menu prices, and was shocked(in a positive way) when I recieved the check. It seems like a great place to go for a bottle of wine and one of the cheese and salumi plates. Next time I am in the neighboorhood, I think that’s what I’ll do.

Having always said that we would walk down to this perfect little neighborhood location: first as, Ovio — never went; second as, O2 — tried, didn’t go in; now, Beato — we finally made it(although we drove ’cause we were heading somewhere else.) It was one of those windstorm nights — very cold and wet — a perfect backdrop to experience this restaurant. It’s very small and quaint. Since we couldn’t get a table, we chose to sit at the bar. Other than some logistical issues at one corner that they NEED to address(we moved to the other end) it was very comfortable. We started with the wine flight — Best of Tuscany, and also cheese and salumi plates. Very tasty and lovely to look at. Our server was also the bartender. She was perfect. In addition to her ease with wine knoweldge and the menu, she knew when to chat and when to leave us alone. Our entrees were timed perfectly with our starters(oh, our amuse bouche was terrific — a taste of shredded radicchio with a squash purée accent, very«bright» tasting.) I ordered the black cod with a squash purée & braised leeks. M ordered the pork tenderloin, caramelized celery root & candied cabbage dish — both were cooked perfectly. People who expect traditional Italian large portions will be a little startled. The portions here are not that. They are as servings should be. It was so lovely to eat something that was worth it’s price in taste and execution, and not have heaping amounts left over, or worse, heaping amounts sitting in your stomach — cause ya’ didn’t stop. We enjoyed after dinner coffee, chatting with our server, and the warmth of the ambiance. I’m very excited for warmer weather so that we can sit on the patio, surrounded by pots of blooming flowers and enjoy their wonderful wine and seasonal fare. ps: I hope they’re planning on a full liquor license — a nice snifter of Tuaca would be heaven!

Great service and the food is great. We asked not only for a flight of wine, but a flight of Salumi meats — mind you which weren’t on the menu — and voila! we had about 5 – 6 different selections of Salumi meats for tasting. Yum! Also, ambiance is really soothing and there are lovely photographs on the wall that I just wanted to pluck off the wall and hang them in my house.

Hey everyone! Go to Beato. I’m sure you all have the little restaurant that could in your neighborhood, the one location and keeps changing into something new. Now that little restaurant has finally made it up that steep hill. I love that the portions are perfectly sized so you can explore a variety of things on the menu on your first visit and leave feeling perfectly satisfied and not overstuffed. Every dish was a chance to explore different flavor combinations. We loved the duck confit appetizer with the hint of sweet pomegranate. Wow! The veal short ribs were warm comforting and flavorful with a reduction that was out of this world! We don’t know much about Italian wines so we ordered the flight of indigenous reds, which introduced us to Bussola Valpolicella. It’s fruity, almost zesty, and paired really well with the rich meat of the duck and veal. The service was friendly, informative and attentive at all the right times. For me one big bonus, I can walk there from my home!
