Blind Mike’s Piano Service

We bought an old Voce & Sons student piano over in WestSea last week. The woman that sold it to me said, «Whoa?! Really? You’ve never heard of Blind Mike the Piano Tuner?!»
When loaded the piano out of the truck bed the sound board had really shifted and it was badly out of tune on the very low and very high notes. Needless to say, we needed it tuned and I made the call.
He was Great to work with!

I called him for a separate issue with a stuck key. Over the phone he had me find a popscicle stick, shave a notch in it and guide my dead key’s spring wire back into the hole on the back of the hammer. This guy is the real deal.

Gambled on an old Steinway and hoped someone could get it going. Prior to the repair, keys/​hammers were stuck or weren’t working altogether. Mike pulled out the action and returned a couple weeks later. Action parts were repaired and the piano tuned. I actually enjoyed sitting there an watching him to go work. New bridal straps, felt, replacement of a broken string, tuning and whatever else he did cost me a little over $ 400 which was very reasonable to me. On top of that, he (and Pam) couldn’t be any nicer! I don’t usually write reviews but this guy deserves it!

We just had Mike finished tuning our piano. He worked on it over an hour entirely by ear with no electronic device. My previous tuner had a device, so the difference is that my piano sounds with more «personality». Prior to his service, the action of my piano was slow, he did a wonder of bringing back the life. I am very satisfied with the service and the price. I definitely will use him for the next tuning.

I hired Mike based on the Unilocal reviews, and boy you guys didn’t steer me wrong. He’s top notch, knows exactly what he’s doing and a joy to work with. I don’t think I’ll hire anyone else.

Mike is amazing and has been tuning my Grand piano for as long as I’ve lived in Seattle — 20+ years. He is the consummate professional, and does a wonderful job. Over the years he has tuned, cleaned, and voiced my piano, and when he’s done it makes this pianist smile as it sounds so wonderful. I would not use anyone else to ever tune my instrument. I must assume that Mike has perfect pitch given that he’s blind; yet makes my piano sing. I can’t recommend him highly enough. I will never let anyone else in the Seattle area ever touch my piano.

Hands-​down the best piano tuner in Seattle. I am not saying this because of this visual impairment, he is truly the best. He and his assistant were so pleasant and clearly knew their way around my unusual Montréal-​built piano. We actually moved this piano across the continent, kept it in unheated storage for 1 year and it still sounds wonderful after Mike did the tuning. Bravo.

Great service. Exactly what you want when you invite someone into your home to tinker with a family heirloom that has been far from pampered over the years. Mike got me onto his schedule right away, arrived on time, identified the vintage of my piano within a few years by feel, tuned it up beautifully (and quickly), and was also extremely friendly and engaging. Highly recommend.

I own a music store over near greenlake. My experience with blind mikes is from a customer I sent over after Unilocal searching. She came back a month later to tell me she had a great experience. He must be doing something right.

I bought a piano at goodwill. One of my girlfriends friends recommended Mike for tuning. I will do the same from now on. He sat down and hit the keys for a couple of minutes (I’m assuming to see how out of tune it was) and said «one of your casters is loose». After a couple of more taps he pointed to the right front corner and said «i think it’s that one». Sure enough I got on the floor and felt it wobble a little. I had played this piano for about a month and never heard that. Needless to say my piano sounds brand new. He also explained some things I didn’t know about it, said I «did good» for How much I paid for it and charged me less than the quote I was given. My only regret was that I didn’t shower before they got here and had coffee breath. To top that off our cat is on a high protein diet and let out one of the rankest farts in history as they were leaving. To mike and his assistant I do apologize for that exit and i hope they will come back next year.

Just had my piano done today. Mike did a fantastic job (he played it after he tuned it and I just wanted him to stay forever!). His driver (didn’t catch his name) was super nice and both of them tolerated my obnoxious barking dogs without batting an eye. I was fascinated to watch Mike in action — I was planning on working in my office while they were here, but couldn’t stop watching! What a gift he has! I highly recommend him! Reasonably priced and he didn’t charge me any extra to drive to my North Bothell home from Greenwood — added plus!

Quick, reliable, friendly, professional, inexpensive. Our (ancient, upright) piano was a few years out of tune and Mike fixed us up this morning. Recommended!

Mike was very attentive to our recent piano tuning — which was REALLY out of tune. He was very professional and incredibly reasonably priced. Our piano sounds like new!

I am a true believer in Mike Gill.
My piano was factory tuned to A-​437 and the prior tuning had made the lower notes even lower. I called Mike out of desperation, and asked for a concert tuning. Bless his heart, he came over and raised my entire piano tuning by 3 cents! You have no idea how happy this makes me.
In case you were wondering, Blind Mike is actually blind. I don’t mean to sound like Glenn Gould in «A Romance on Three Legs», but I have a great deal of respect for a guy that can tune a piano by touch alone. Mike did a wonderful job, and I plan to have him back again and again.

Mike has spent hours working on my antique and cantankerous piano, painstakingly putting it back together every time it falls apart. The prices are fair, and he’s got an amazingly patient attitude regarding a piano that has led many other piano techs to loud swearing. I highly recommend him!

Mike Gill is the best in the business! He is amazing to watch in action as well. Fast, precise, and at a great price. He comes to the Eastside too.
