History

Established in 2005.

Graduating from Roffler Hair Design School in Miami, Stacie Bowie was scouted by Dave and Johan International’s artistic team in South African and spent six weeks in Paris, France at the L’Oreal School earning a certification as a colour specialist and the prestigious Mod’s Hair for advanced finishing techniques then Vidal Sassoon in London. She joined Redken Fifth Avenue as a performing artist and educator.

Bowie Salon and Spa opene in 2005 and has been recognized in Allure, Seattle Magazine Seattle Metropolitan, Sunset, including, «Best Salon,» «Best Overall Stylist,» «Best Highlights,» «Best Blowout,» «Best Cut,» «Best Blonde» and «Best New Salon».

SO if you haven’t booked a cut and or color with Sarah Corpus DO IT! I have been all over Seattle and paid BIG $$$ to get cuts and colors that I walk away with either hating or feeling like nothing was accomplished. Sarah not only brings life to my hair through her cutting style but accomplishes blonde on another level! I get compliments everywhere I go on my hair and I am happy to tell people who I go to. I went through a rough year of hair loss and thinning and even through that she was always happy to offer advice on products and techniques that would help my lifeless hair. She is always up-​to-​date on the trendy styles and color options and is happy to give her honest opinion on what would look best on me. Besides the fact that she is some kind of hair sorcerer, she is also super nice and listens to all of my BS (and I have a lot) while I sit in her chair. I don’t splurge on a lot of things, but hair is important to me and I can’t imagine having to go to anyone else, and trust anyone else with something I care so much about! Point blank… SARAH is the SH*T

I see Kelsie, and LOVE everything about her! She’s a skilled stylist with so much natural talent for color & cuts! She perfectly matched my roots for a gorgeous touchup to cover my gray, and blend with my previous balayage! The whole appointment she educated me in products she was using, and I LOVE the hair treatment she sent me home with!

I was impressed the moment I stepped through the door. Everyone was friendly and helpful from start to finish. Completely authentic! And the atmosphere, even at the busiest moments on this Saturday, was calm and relaxed. And then there is Kelsey. I can’t say enough good things about her. She seemed genuinely interested in hearing what I wanted in a hair style, color, and Keratin treatment; she asked lots of questions, made some recommendations, and explained everything she was going to do so that there would be no surprises. She spent nearly five hours with me, chatting easily and pleasantly (not superficially, thank goodness!), and was sympathetic when I became tired and wanted to close my eyes. The end result? I love my haircut and color, and my hair feels like silk. Pricey, yes. No doubt a luxury. But it’s an indulgence that I am going to be repeating.

I’ve been to this salon for over 2 years now. I am so incredibly happy to have found the hair stylist who knows exactly what I want and makes me look beautiful every time I leave! Meagan is an incredibly knowledgeable, fun, compassionate, and foremost does her job well! Meagan is very creative but at the same time my hair looks great even after I wash it and style myself. I usually get highlights and the color is perfect, looks very natural, and my hair does not feel dry afterwards. I highly recommend Meagan for your hair needs, you won’t regret it!

I love Bowie Salon. I moved here from Nashville and had to go through several stylists before finding Karie. She knew I was frustrated with the state of my fried hair and shade of my blonde and helped to make a healthy plan for my hair. Karie is very honest and wants the best for you. She made my hair perfect just in time for my wedding, and was vert patient with me coming in 3x the month of my wedding. I’m not kidding. Karie has great energy and is so fun to be around. She is incredibly talented and is constantly recruited to go work on photo shoots.
Renee did my hair for my wedding events, and I could not have been more pleased. I bought clip ins and brought them in to see of I needed to exchange for a different color, Renee approved and did the best job of putting them in my hair and styling it. I had so many compliments on my hair the whole weekend. She did my makeup for both Events too and was able to cover all of acne and discoloration. She is awesome.
Roxy did my moms hair and makeup for my wedding events and my mom couldn’t have loved her more. My mom wished she lived in Seattle, so she could have Bowie as her salon.
I have also had an amazing facial at Bowie and love all of the Rhonda Allison products. It was so relaxing I fell asleep.

I’ve been going to Marie (she’s stupendous!) to tame my brows for over 2 years and when I decided to go blond I knew Bowie would be the best.
I went in a little over a month ago and had the privilege of being sat in Rene’s chair. She was so personable and friendly and I felt so comfortable putting my hair in her hands.
Initially I didn’t love the color. I walked in with an orange hue and wanted to abandon it that afternoon but some was still present. We had a miscommunication as far as the steps to get me all the way blond vs. no longer orange. I tried to see past the mix of orange and blond but it wasn’t what I wanted and I felt I needed to correct it. I wrote in to Bowie rather than going somewhere else, I’ve only had great experiences there and I wanted to give them the chance to make it right. Which they did!
Rene sat me down again and this time it came out perfect! I love my hair and I couldn’t be happier with the color.

Karie is absolutely amazing! I visited the salon last year to get a sombre done and it turned out perfect. I recently got a hair cut and tried to achieve the same sombre effect at a different salon and it didn’t quite turned out right. I have dark, brown hair so it is difficult to achieve the sombre look without the color turning out orange or brassy. I went back to Bowie Salon again today to fix my color, and Karie did a fantastic job (of not only fixing it but adding some beautiful highlights as well). I will definitely be coming back to the salon for my next color touchup!

I’m very happy with Bowie. The cuts and color and great, but also their appointment system — they text me reminders with enough time to change the appointment if necessary — as in over 24 hours in advance. For someone as busy as I am, it’s really nice to have assistance in this area. I definitely would recommend Bowie. Prices are a bit steep for what I get, but overall it’s solid.

Stylists are fine but you can’t schedule an appt. with one. First chance: they double booked. Later they called back to reschedule for the following day, so changed work schedule to make the appointment. Next day they called after lunch to cancel THAT appointment. There is no excuse to double book or reschedule and then cancel.
It’s frustrating and disrespectful.
This is how they treat a customer who gives them repeat business and buys the suggested products they carry from the salon.
I’ll have to go elsewhere and can’t recommend this salon.

I have been seeing Marie for bikini waxes for over a year now. Maybe even close to two! I followed her from two other salons because she is THAT good. First she moved from Salon Dewi to The Loft and from The Loft to Bowie. I’d follow that lady anywhere because of how good she is at getting things done quickly and efficiently. She doesn’t waste time stalling the waxing process (for me it’s like «GET IT OVER WITH») and yet we still manage to talk and she makes me feel relaxed and over the time I’ve been seeing her I consider her a friend! She’s sweet and damn good at her job. It hurts, but is not nearly as painful as experiences I’ve had prior to seeing her and it gets easier every time you go. Once you see Marie you’ll never see another esthetician again!

If you are Caucasian, by all means, go there. They do exactly what Caucasian people want & ask; & I have seeing the beauty of what they do to Caucasian’s hair. If you are a Minority, expect the unexpected! At first it was wonderful, until they color your hair any way they want without letting you know…& its way overpriced!
And I don’t mean in a discriminatory manner, I mean, the hairstyle they know how to work best is Caucasian.

Sarah Corpus has done it again. My fine yet kind of huge, wavy, mid-​back hair was in a sorry, product built up state on my birthday and after an hour at Bowie, it looked amazzzzing again. Long curly hair like mine gets to a certain point where it’s hard to do anything with it: it either becomes beautiful mermaid hair or scary witch hair. Sarah has coaxed my hair gently toward the «mermaid» side of things — and I get compliments all the time. I always thought I had mousy hair and that my hair was a problem, so I needed to keep it short. I’m really glad I found this salon, because growing it out has been incredibly confidence boosting.
Sarah is really good at cutting my hair, but what makes Bowie so unique are the in-​the-​bowl conditioning treatments they offer. Incredible for curly or damaged or hair that’s otherwise lost its luster. I have gotten treatments between hair cuts, even. They are only $ 35ish (compared to many straightening /​blow out treatments that are hundreds of dollars) and they have immediate effects. On my birthday, everybody was incredibly impressed with how much my hair shined from the Shu Umera treatment. It didn’t take long at all — maybe twice the time you’d usually spend getting shampooed. Getting these very-​not-​spendy treatment every month or two lets me have natural hair that I love. I’m a fan.

I saw Sarah C. on 5÷21÷13 for a partial highlight and trim. Not only did she do a wonderful job of brightening up my color, she was incredibly sweet and personable, she worked quickly (without making me feel rushed), and was not pushing products on me at all (my personal pet peeve with many salons). Also, her shampoo is out of this world. Out. Of. This. World.
A Little Background:
I’m not from Seattle nor do I know anyone here to ask for a hair salon recommendation. On top of that, a good friend in the same situation (blond in need of highlights while in Seattle but with no one to offer her a personal recommendation) had a VERY bad experience a couple weeks ago at a different Seattle salon. Her traumatic experience included over four hours in the stylist’s chair and turning her hair gray and orange before finally getting it right-​ish (slightly yellow but passable); we were both surprised her hair did not break off due to all of the processing they did that day.
Oh, and did I mention I’m in a wedding this weekend and need my hair to look great for that? So, yes, I was nervous.
My Visit:
As it turns out, there was no need to be because I was in great hands during my entire 90-​minute visit! The Bowie Salon & Spa receptionists, other stylists in the salon at the time, and of course Sarah C. were friendly and knew exactly what they were doing. Sarah C. offered just the right amount of (genuinely interested) chit-​chat but also allowed me to relax without the chatter whenever I wanted. She answered all my questions about hair care (and went above and beyond by giving me several samples to try out), offered ideas & tips for ways I could style my hair for the wedding I mentioned above, and even suggested places for my boyfriend and I to check out in Seattle.
In a Nutshell:
It’s tough when you’re in a new city. Though I don’t live here, the boyfriend does so I will be visiting very often. Finding a salon where I can go to relax was clutch to my enjoying the city and I’m so relieved to have found a salon that hits all the marks.
Without hesitation, I’d recommend Sarah C. and Bowie Salon & Spa to anyone visiting (or living!) in Seattle.
P.S.
Based on the Unilocal reviews and Sarah C.‘s recommendation, I also hear Marie does an amazing eyebrow wax. Now, I’m at least as obsessed with not messing up my brows as I am with not messing up my hair; you know how it can take FOREVER to get them into the shape you like after years of over-​plucking…
I didn’t see Marie yesterday but likely will in the future and will update you then, too!

So I’ve followed Marie to yet another salon, this time Bowie Salon and Spa. I’ve had two appointments here and I really like the look and feel of the place. It has kind of a raw and edgy — yet not loud or frantic — aesthetic, and everyone I’ve interacted with has been super nice. Marie continues to do a great job with my bikini line. No complaints there, and judging by other reviews, I would be in good hands if I were ever to turn my brows over to her as well. You can also get your hair (the kind on your head) did at Bowie Salon and Spa.
