History

Established in 1975.

Located in a former mortuary garage, Café Allegro has the distinction of being the first café in Seattle to specialize in serving espresso. Founding owner Dave Olsen, now a senior vice president with Starbucks, opened the brick walled café with the vision of creating the perfect coffee experience. After opening the doors in 1975, Olsen realized his vision was more than just serving the perfect cup of coffee, it had everything to do with the people who were being served.

Over the last thirty five years, Allegro has caffeinated a crowd of many who would consider themselves more than customers, but of friends sharing their lives over a cup of coffee.
