Café Campagne

We ate here after spending time at the Market on a Sunday. The ambiance is quite charming and the service was good. The cocktails were mixed well and the food was good. A decent choice.

New York strip, great. Mussels, great. Wine, great. Service was also great. Such a gem in the heart of Pikes Place and prices are very reasonable. Ambiance is wonderful and the French wine list is fabulous.
Highly recommend this place.

The staff was decent, the building is cute, but those things really don’t matter at all when the food is this bad. We went for brunch and got something that was supposed to have bacon in a brown sauce that was kind of boring and came with a basket of boring fries, a side of «French toast» (it was just a slice of bread with some fruit…), and an omelet that was filled with… soggy lettuce? It was all bad and expensive, with fairly small portions. We only ate half of it and went somewhere else for some decent breakfast immediately after. I feel like it was some sort of a joke that we just weren’t in on. I’ve been to a lot of French restaurants, in various countries and states, none had this comically bad of food.

Terrible. The quiche has no taste, must add pepper to it. The lamb burger was not the best combination, though the parts were nicely charred. Wait to get served was very long. It’s also loud in here.

Had lunch here with a colleague. The nicoise salad was so delicious — I want to go back! I was eyeing other meals at nearby tables and they all looked good. The service was quick and the location was easy to find. Would definitely recommend.

Brunch is always pleasant, but Café Campagne makes it brutally good. The croque madame is just a gift for the senses. Moisty, yet crunchy and loaded with flavour. The french toast is a scandal, you will repeat without a doubt. Try to book in advance for weekend brunch, its always full!

Went on a busy Saturday for brunch. We waited just a little to be seated (we had a reservation), but once seated, our server was prompt at introducing himself and taking our order. I had the Omelette Choisy, it was very plentiful and good value for money. I also ordered a almond croissant and it was served with butter and jam, which was very yummy too. The coffee was good, but strangely, I found it a little on the pricey side, and not good value for money. My friend ordered the Chocolat Chaud, and it was served in a pitcher with a side of fresh whipped cream, it was very nice! Overall, the service was good, and the food was very tasty, but the coffee let me down. Will be back for sure.

This place is so charming! The fiancé and I came here for lunch on our last date day as Seattlites and we absolutely loved it. We should’ve come sooner!
The food was all better than good — we started with the Tarte Flambee — savory bacon, onion and goat fromage blanc tarte — impeccable. Could it get better? Indeed, it could. The quiche was something with asparagus and goat cheese and it was the best quiche I’ve ever had! Perfectly fluffy and well made. Huge fan!
The food was amazing and the service was even better. I would highly recommend stopping in as soon as possible so you’re not missing out on it for any longer. So good.

One of my all-​time favorite Seattle restaurants and totally worth braving the market for. The service is so attentive and friendly, without being overbearing, and the food is simply divine.
The pâté, steak frites, and french onion soup are classics and they are handled with care. My most recent visit was for brunch and the croque madame was heaven!
I avoid the market like the plague, but with food this good… I’ll deal. :)

Great food and a Peach Champagne. Service was very professional and fast. We booked an open table reservation and skipped a long line.
Basket of Friedlander, two drinks, French toast, and a Madame sandwich was $ 54.25. Not the cheapest lunch, but the service, atmosphere, and food quality were certainly worth the price.

I’ve been looking forward to try this restaurant for a while but unfortunately the food was a disappointment. The appetizers were decent enough but the duck confit had no flavor and was paired with some bland fried potatoes which I think were still scalding hot in my doggie bag. Entrees came out very slowly for our group of 5, we were there from 6:30 — 10:00, mostly waiting for food.

Seattle has been pushing my taste buds’ boundaries — there were a lot of unfamiliar flavors I’ve had on my trip, and Café Campagne probably had the MOST bizarre flavor combinations during my culinary adventure in the city.
I was able to snag an entire table by myself without a reservation, and I decided on one of their more popular specialties, oeufs en meurette (poached eggs on giant croûton with red wine-​foie gras sauce). My dish came alongside a basket of french fries with separate ketchup and aioli dipping sauces.
The french fries were a pleasant surprise — the aioli was addictive, and they were what I resorted to because my dish was… interesting. Perhaps I’m unfamiliar with the meurette sauce, but the best way I can describe the dish was basically a reduced French onion soup drizzled over some poached eggs. The eggs were cooked very well, but the croûton was vaguely reminiscent of slightly stale toast. Tasty stale toast, but texture-​wise, I wasn’t a fan.
Service was actually quite good, and despite this restaurant being hella busy (if you’re coming with a party of 3+, I’d highly recommend a reservation), other servers (even front of house manager) took care of me for water refills, clearing my table, etc.
I suppose I am not as familiar as I thought I was with French cuisine, since the flavors presented at Café Campagne just weren’t up my alley; however, I would actually consider revisiting because the restaurant is interesting to me. The price point is a bit high for brunch, though, so I would definitely look into coming here for dinner instead.

Okay… stumbled on this place looking for another.
Well Sara our waitress is phenomenal on service as is the food!
Boucheron di chevre salad is wonderful.
Really everything is prepared fresh and in house.
Very good french cuisine!

I suppose this should be a five star review if you expect rude and taciturn verbal interactions with your waitress after waiting five minutes to be seated during a slow time of day with no line. Our waitress dropped off water without a word and proceeded to check on every other table in the room before disappearing into the kitchen. Minutes later, she appeared to take our drink orders.
The rest of the experience followed suit. Service was minimal, my coffee was never refilled, and despite it not being a busy time of day, we were rushed off with the check delivery moments after we were served.

Wow! Fantastic service and the food was in true French form. The almond croissant with a Kir Royale was the perfect starter combo. The omelette and Croque Madame plates were absolutely mouth watering! Definitely a must visit. I will be back!

Been here a total of 3 times now in the course of 6 years. Through out, excellent experience. Service is always consistently good. I’ve only been there for dinner but i hear that breakfast and Brunch are really good. So i might try that in the near future. The most recent time i went there, i got the Lamb burger and i was perfect. Although i don’t like eating a finger food in a fine dining restaurant, a lot of people were getting it and i see why. I’ve gotten the Steak and Frites which are always a staple when i go here. I’ve also had the risotto, which the quality has down through out the years. It was first introduced as a valentines special with green onion and chives. But now its just served with some prawns and very little parsley. Still great but not as good as it used to be. Definitely a must try if you have already tried the pink door.

I’d say a solid 3.5 star, but 4 for the good service and (unintentional?) free fries?
I got the Oeufs en Meurette, which were good but definitely on the smaller portion. If it weren’t for the fries, I’d still be pretty hungry… So if you like a good hearty brunch, this might not be the dish to order. Unique dish but I think it’s still missing something. Also ordered a side of the French Toast, and it was just the right sweetness. Again, a solid dish but nothing that fascinated me.
Overall, a very cozy brunch place in the heart of Pike Place. Décor is cute and charming, and I especially love the different dining rooms of this spot!

We have been to this place quite a few times in the past year and have come to the conclusion that the kitchen is very good and the front of the house is poorly managed. The food has been good enough to keep us coming back. This could easily be a place I would give 5 stars if it were not for the service.
The service has not been horrible every time we have been here but our most recent visit was the worst we have experienced in Seattle and the problems were not isolated to a single individual.
My partner and I are not demanding or obnoxious customers. You’ll just have to take my word for that but we inclined to let a lot of issues slide on the assumption that everyone has his or her less than stellar moments.
Our most recent visit was last Friday before the Brandon Marsallis concert.
We had heard that the the restaurant had extended its January special on mussels where the offered them in three different preparations. To make sure my partner called the restaurant that afternoon and asked. The person who answered checked with the kitchen and said that the special was still available.
He made a reservation.
When we were seated we were not given the happy hour menu and detected a less than enthusiastic response when we asked for it. I assume the failure to offer it in the first place was intentional. There are a couple of items on the happy hour menu that make great appetizers and are ideal for sharing. More about that below.
Then we asked about the mussels and were told that they were not available. The restaurant has switched to a special Valentine’s day menu a couple of days in advance of the holiday. The server was annoyed that we asked her to double check since we had called earlier that day and had been told something different.
While waiting to place an alternative order my partner got a call on his cell phone. It was the restaurant hostess asking if we were going to show up for our reservation which was for half an hour earlier. He had given the hostess his name when we arrived and told her we had reservations. When she learned that we were sitting in the restaurant she just said «OK» and hung up.
We proceeded to order the hanger steak brochettes and lamb sliders off the happy hour menu. Both are superb items that we have enjoyed on previous visits. The hanger steak brochettes are an incredible value at $ 5. Portions are generous and the taste sublime.
Then we both ordered the duck confit since we could not get the mussels that had drawn us to the restaurant that evening. It was very good, if a little salty for me but perfect for my partner. The potatoes were sublime.
When we had finished with our appetizers the staff visited our table quite a few times before removing any of the dirty dishes. When they did they took our dirty silverware and placed in on the table rather than replacing it as I would expect from an establishment in this price range. They also left some of the spilled onions from the hanger steak brochettes on the table. I took a napkin off an adjacent table and cleaned it up myself which did not earn us any points with the surly waitstaff. By this point things were heading down hill fast and I was not too concerned about it.
Our order of pomme frites was placed on the table with a napkin lining the basket and our server placed it so close to the candle on the table that it burst into flame a few minutes later. Since the flames were instantly a foot above the table I grabbed the napkin and stuffed it into my water glass to extinguish the flames. Almost half of the napkin was consumed by the time I got it extinguished which made me wonder what is was made from. Linen does not burn like that.
When I called the server over she said «had a fire, huh?» I got the impression that this had happened before. She tried to make a joke about the fire having nothing to do with our issue over the mussels. No effort was made to replace the order which was half finished before the fire.
On a previous visit we have enjoyed the food a lot although their version of cassoulet was overcooked the one time we tried it.
We have not decided if we will give this place another chance. We needed to get over to the concert hall promptly after dinner so did not take the time to seek out the manager and explain what had happened. Besides, by then I was pissed off and unlikely to handle my complaint well.
Now that I decided to write this review for Unilocal I’m thinking about the recent Southpark episode on the consequences of an unfavorable review for subsequent visits to an establishment. It should be pretty easy for the staff to figure out who wrote this so Im thinking that we need to find a new French restaurant.
I cant remember the last time I tipped less than 20% but the fact that I left a 15% tip is something I’m regretting as I write this.

Came here for dinner and I definitely felt I needed to update my review. We ordered the duck confit and steak frites. The duck confit here is delicious! The duck is tender and the skin is crispy. So good. And the potatoes are delicious. The steak frites was good too, and I especially enjoyed their frites. Their frites are fried perfectly, and it comes with a delicious aioli. Our favorite place for duck confit!

Love the selection of bubbles here. Many interesting and uncommon, borderline rare, bottles. I didn’t eat during my visit, but with a wine list as impressive as the one here, I know I’ll be back at some point to avail myself of not only another bottle, but a snack or two as well.
***Note: Brunch is as big deal here on Sunday, so come early or be prepared to wait for a table.

Café Campagne is not as hip as Le Pichet or Press… but, i like it more.
They have cice ambience and classic French food. It’s not too pricey. Basically, I could eat here every day.

Two visits over 3 days. Initially the omelette was made to our request with no cheese etc and was incredible (can you give 5-​stars for one?). Today (same item, same menu), had to have cheese, no substitute etc. waitress was nice and knowledgeable but offered NO help, recommendations or a «let me see what I can do to accommodate you». We settled on a Niçoise salad in which the tuna was CANNED tuna. This place is ¼ a block from a large fish market; Pike Place aka Farmers Market of Seattle. I guess they never heard of it. We asked our waitress about the canned tuna which she told us was a higher quality. What? It’s canned.
Wine selection is above adequate and good range.
Pending your server and possibly who’s the chef of the day you can expect 3-​star as we did today or 5-​star as we did 3 days ago with same menu and time of day

My husband and I stopped in for breakfast before shopping for souvenirs at the market. We didn’t make a reservation, but we were seated within 5 mins. Our waitress was lovely and attentive. We had coffee and orange juice, though the mimosas and bloody marys did look good. I ordered the croque madame and he ordered some kind of mushroom omelette. Both were delicious! I loved the herb potatoes that came with his dish and my dish was amazing, with the toasted cheese and light greens on the side. Nice ambiance (French café), great staff and delicious food :)

First time here greeted with a friendly smile and good service.
Ordered the Monsieur and Savoyard sandwich with pommes frites and the flavors were mouth watering. Came with a salad with light vinaigrette dressing.
Must come back and try other things in the menu.

I’ve actually been here a number of times over the years — I used to come to Seattle on a semi-​regular basis and Café Campagne was one of my rep’s favorite spots for dinner. I hadn’t been in a few years but wanted to come back to see if it was still good.
I stopped in the late afternoon after exploring the market for a few hours — since I wasn’t starving (thanks, Piroshky Piroshky) I sat at the bar and had a glass of wine and their house pâté ($ 13). As can be expected, they’ve got a very good wine list with a nice number of by the glass choices — I opted for a tasty Cremant which was a generous pour for $ 10.
My pâté was quite a large slice and was served with a generous amount of baguette, two types of mustard and some nice pickles (cornichons and green beans) which helps cut the richness. This pâté is especially rich — they use a mix of pork and chicken liver, so you have a nice contrast of the smooth chicken liver and the more chunky pork. Seasoning was spot on — absolutely delicious and just like pates I’ve had in Paris.
Service was properly French as well — meaning a bit standoffish. This is a great spot for a cozy romantic dinner, or for a glass of wine after you’ve shopped all day at the Market.

I brought 40 high school students to Seattle to visit SAM. They have been studying French for 3 – 4 years with me and I wanted to treat them to an extra special experience at a French restaurant. Even though it was only 2 day´s notice, Erika and the staff prepared a menu for the students and served them kindly. The students were amazed and grateful for the lunch. Most of them had never been to anything ¨fancier¨ than Red Robin, so Café Campagne was beyond their comprehension. The Croque Monsieur/​Madame/​Savoyarde were perfect for teens. Merci mille fois!

Stopped here for some bfast on a Saturday morning and was glad we did. It’s a fairly small place but they seemed to be turning tables quite quickly. The staff were all very friendly and attentive.
One thing I REALLY love is quiche. A few years ago in Aix en Provence, I had the most insanely good quiche and since then, I’ve been searching for a place that has something similar. While the quiche here is good, I will say that my search continues. The quiche here is light and creamy but the filling is a bit loose. If you’re one that likes a really light quiche, then you’ll probably love the one here. I compare it to the two schools of cheesecake fandom, some like a lighter filling, and some like a denser filling. I like the denser version of both cheesecake and quiche. The quiche here does have a nice flavor, though and they have a really good crust.
Mark H had the Oeufs Brouilles, scrambled eggs with herbs, chicken and pork sausage, roasted potatoes, and baguette. His meal was very good, the chicken and pork sausage was a real standout.
Some of the other things we ordered…
I had the Chocolat Chaud (hot chocolate) This was also a standout. It tasted like a warm, liquid dark chocolate bar! Super rich and super creamy.
Pain au chocolat and Almond croissant. These were both good. Nice, flaky texture on the outside, tender, buttery goodness on the inside. One thing about croissants in Hawaii, it’s just so humid here, any croissant will quickly lose it’s flaky texture. The ones at Café Campagne definitely reminded me of the ones I’ve had in France.

Delightful French restaurant.
My friend had just picked me up from the airport and we had lunch here in memory of our Paris trip last May. Charming atmosphere. Loved the inside décor but we chose to eat outside as the weather was so nice.
Started out with complimentary fresh french bread and butter. Yum. My friend and I both had the quiche du jour-​seasonal vegetables (loved the red pepper and onions in it) and comte cheese with a green salad in sherry vinaigrette. It was delicious.
Many delights to choose on the menu-​was tempted to try their french onion soup but didn’t want to fill up. They had soups, salads, specialities and sandwiches to choose from. Highly recommend.

We wound up here after visiting the market, mostly because the bathrooms there are god-​awful, and this was the closest restaurant that seemed guaranteed to have a bathroom (spoiler: they do, and it’s an oasis compared to the market’s ones).
We only had some coffee and a hot chocolate, so I can’t speak to the food, but it’s a really delightful little place, and their menu does look good. I went with their chocolat chaud, which was the most intense sipping chocolate I’ve ever had, accompanied by a big bowl of chantilly cream. I barely made a dent in the rich beverage, but it was fantastically presented.
Seems like a fantastic place to re-​visit!

After a long touristy afternoon, my brother, sister and I decided to pick up some food to-​go to eat at our airbnb apartment. We had missed lunch but didn’t want to ruin our appetites for dinner, therefore only ordered a couple appetizers to share.
*Tartar de Boeuf (beef rib-​eye, shallots, capers, Dijon, quail egg, served with toasted baguette slices) — The beef was tender but slightly on the bland side. Not the best I’ve had but it was good.
*Calamars a la Provençal (squid sautéed with olive oil, garlic, parsley, capers and lemon) — They don’t give you a lot of calamari which was fine… the super tasty oil made up for it. I just loved the saltiness from the capers, aroma from the garlic & parsley, and freshness from the lemon juice. Overall it was well balanced, had so much flavor, and paired well with crusty bread. This is a must!
We have too many places we want to eat at and not enough meal opportunities, otherwise I would go back again to order the Calamars a la Provençal again except this time I’d pair it with a glass of white wine. I guess this gives me another excuse to plan a return trip back to Seattle.

Best croque madame I’ve EVER had.
For one morning in Seattle, I was transported to Paris and it was magical.
This place is surprisingly quite large and we were seated immediately for breakfast on Saturday. The menu is filled with classic French favorites. I made a deal with my mom to order the quiche of the day so I could get the croque madame and we could all try a little bit of everything. Win-​win!
To start, we split a chocolate croissant which was pretty good. The chocolate was a little on the hard side but cut for three, we all got a little bite to calm our appetites while we waited for the main courses.
As I mentioned, the croque madame was heaven. You could really tell the pain de mie was house made, the egg was perfectly cooked, and the baked ham and cheese heavenly. Today’s quiche was vegetable and cooked quite well. Super light and fluffy.
My dad also ordered the more unique oeurfs en meurette — poached eggs with a sauce of pearl onions, bacon, and champignons in red wine-​foie gras sauce on garlic croutons. Red wine-​foie gras sauce? Yes, you read that right. It made for a really rich but delicious dish. It also came with pommes frites which were addicting, especially with some garlic aioli on the side.
Paired with a frothy cappuccino, this was truly a breakfast of dreams.

Sometimes reviews are overrated because they are in a very touristy area, but this restaurant did not disappoint. One of the better french restaurants in the city to have brunch. Dishes are around $ 9 – 16
Lamb Burger: Seasoned well, and perfectly cooked– medium rare just as promised.
Crab Quiche: One of the best quiche I ever had. The crab just works with it.
Oeufs En Meurette: Never had anything like it before. It is like a fancy french toast with Poached eggs on top, and a very flavorful sauce.
They serve you a mountain of fries. Not sure if that is a good thing or bad thing. I wish it was cooked better, it was soggy.
Service was great. Parking can be a challenge.

Just got into Seattle and looking for some brunch! We wanted to go try out biscuit bitch around the area but the line and wait looked far too long. We ended up just grabbing brunch here as there was no wait and it looked like a nice cozy spot.
We started off with coffee and I ordered the crab quiche while my man ordered something that had bread and a foie gras sauce? We also got a side of the French toast to share.
The crab quiche was super delish and was quite filling. It paired nicely with the simple salad that came with it. It was good to cut through the heaviness of the quiche. My man didn’t expect his entrée to be just bread and sauce but said it was tasty and very rich. There was a lot of leftover sauce so he used his fries to soak up the sauce. At this point it was kind of tasting like poutine fries so yum! The French toast we had to share was really the highlight of brunch. The bourbon maple syrup was so delish and the strawberries were really fresh and sweet!
All in all it was a great brunch to start off our week in Seattle. It is located right in the downtown area so it can be crowded at times but it’s pretty good for the location and price!

Disclaimer: I’m French, and an arrogant jerk when it comes to food.
Anyway, I can’t believe they made it! Their soupe à l’oignon is as good as in my childhood memory (age 12 approx) in the South West of France. This restaurant nails it from the pâté, to the rillettes, the mussels, even the hot chocolate is to die for!
Bravo! Et chapeau bas…

Nach dem Le Pichet nun also ein weiterer Franzose in Seattle unweit des Pike Place Market.
Mit der Öffnungszeit um 11:00 Uhr unter der Woche scheidet das Campagne leider für das Frühstück aus, aber dafür gibt es ja auch gute Alternativen in der Umgebung (s.o., oder das Bacco schräg gegenüber). So war ich abends da und das ist auch der Zeitpunkt, wo das liebevolle Ambiente am besten wirkt: Das gedämpfte Licht, die warmen Farben, die einzelnen Jugendstilposter, die klasssisch streng (schwarz/​weiß) gekleideten Bedienungen und die etwas wackeligen Bistrotische.
Als Vorspeise gab es mal wieder Austern. Das ist nicht sonderlich kreativ, aber wo es so schöné Austern zu bezahlbaren Preisen in Seattle gibt — warum nicht? Die Meßlatte liegt bei dem Angebot in der Stadt natürlich um einiges höher als in anderen Gegenden und so war ich mit den Austern nicht sonderlich zufrieden: Auch wenn sie geschmacklich in Ordnung waren, fanden sich leider doch viele Schalensplitter im Inneren wieder, die den Genuß arg trübten.
Bei den Hauptgängen konnte ich mich lange nicht entscheiden. Im Endeffekt wurde es eine in Buttermandeln gebratene Forelle mit Salzkartoffeln. Schön, aber vielleicht hätte ein bisschen weniger Salz seitens der Küche auch gereicht.
Zum Nachtisch hat mich die Neugier zur Terrine au chocolat verführt — leider. Die Terrine war leider enttäuschend und erinnerte mit schwachen Schokoladenaromen und fettiger Konsistenz eher an die Masse für den auf Kindergeburtstagen beliebten «Kalten Hund» /​«Kalte Schnauze».
Die Weinkarte haben ich mal außen vor gelassen und ein Bier getrunken. Die Bierauswahl ist sehr übersichtlich und neben diversen bunten amerikanischen Bieren gibt es im Bereich der «normalen» Biere (Lager /​Pils) im Grunde nur das importiert Stella Artois.
Alles in allem eine nicht ganz günstige, durchwachsene Leistung. In Sternen: Vorspeise 3, Hauptgericht 4 (knapp), Nachspeise 2, Service 5, Ambiente 5 — macht im Schnitt gerade eben noch so 4 Sterne.
Aber: Ich würde wieder hingehen.

This café will not disappoint – The menu of entrees, soups, and wines is amazing. The staff is knowlegdeable and attentive. This is the French bistro experience at its best! You can’t go wrong, La truite, le poulet, l’agneau, ou les pommes frites, it’s all refined and a great meal and experience. We are there every time we are in Seattle. Bön apetite!
