CANVAS! paint & sip studio

I am in serious disbelief by this business.
There are plenty of «Paint & Sip» type studios around the Seattle area… do yourself a favor and skip this one. Unless you are okay with having your personal belongings stolen and them having absolutely no remorse or concern about it.
In the beginning of the class you are told to remove your jacket and everyone hangs them up on these racks; I didn’t think twice about it. At the end of the class it was clear that mine had been taken (*Just for reference, this was unfortunately an expensive, near and dear to me jacket). I went back and forth with the owner for weeks about it. She tried to make it seem like they were «working on tracking it down» by sending out e-​mails to those who attended that evening (which I confirmed were never actually sent out), and then by supposedly reviewing security footage to «track down the suspect». I am pretty sure that they were just saying this to bide their time hoping I would eventually forget about it. I also posted a comment on a group photo they took with the whole class, asking if anyone had taken a jacket by mistake. They deleted it within minutes.
I feel insulted and disrespected. Do they not feel any responsibility that someone in their establishment stole from one of their paying customers? Do they not feel the need to make sure our items are safe and secure, especially when we are not only encouraged to remove such items, but practically required? Furthermore, the owner’s responses to me were not only cold, but were generally unprofessional — she never seemed to be too concerned with this situation from the get-​go, and to this day has not once even given me a simple apology.
I had been looking forward to attending a class like this for a very long time and this being my first experience, I couldn’t be further from disappointed with how things were (or rather, were not) handled.

what fun! We came here for a corporate work retreat, and had such a great experience! For the 16 of us (private event, remember), we had two employees working on our behalf: one to tend the bar, the other to instruct on the painting. It was a low-​key environment, and the pace for the painting was well timed. The pace was slow enough to follow along without leaving too many gaps between steps. I enjoyed sippling on some bubbly while i completed my autumn trees painting. I was surprised how well it turned out! Apparently Canvas brings out the artist in everyone!

This is a great outing for couples or a girls-​night-​out sort of thing. I think I paid $ 35+ tax online. Parking was a butt to find and I ended up paying $ 10 to park in a lot… :(
Wine and beer are served but they do cost extra. I think like $ 6?
Our instructor was humorous and made it a lot of fun. It’s a different thing to do if you’re looking to do something outside of a bar/​restaurant. The instructions were clear and coming from someone who has no artistic talent whatsoever, my painting came out pretty decent.
I think they put Groupons out once in a while so look for that!

Only so little reviews and they are all 5 stars… After coming here last night, I totally agree and can see why they deserve this awesome rating!
First off this was my first ever wine and paint night and I’m visiting from out of town, I felt totally welcomed and had the most amazing experience here. The studio already had everything set up for us when we walked in. My friends and I came in and checked in with Scottia. She got us all checked in and gave us the paintbrushes that we needed for the night. She and her helper Chelsea also informed us that we had white thick paper and that is where we needed to grab our paints that we would be using for the night. They even tell you how many pumps you needed but the cool thing is you are totally more than welcome to grab more if you needed too.
The drinks are on par and super awesome. For a small fee they have other fm drinks if you don’t like wine. They play awesome music all night and really keep it fun and light when you are here.

Paint and sip has been on my bucket list for some time now, as I’m a perfectionist with less-​than-​stickfigure-​like artistic abilities. After falling in love with a Seattle skyline photo, a friend and I mustered the courage to register for the class. We arrived thirty minutes early for the class, were directed to our assigned seats (When you register you can tell them who else is in your party), and quickly ordered some wine at the bar. It was nice that we had the option to keep a tab open so that we didn’t have to worry about finding our credit cards after getting paint on our hands. We were then told to put on aprons as the paint will permanently stain your clothes! I didn’t know this before hand, so if you’re worried about your favorite shirt getting ruined, you may want to wear another. The room filled up quickly, but everyone warmed up to each other well. The class was great! The instructor takes you through the process in an easy to follow step-​by-​step process. They also encourage you to get up and take a look at other people’s paintings for admiration and idea sharing. We had a blast singing, painting, and having drinks. Oh, and my painting actually looked like the seattle sky line and was wall hanging worthy. That was an unexpected perk! The staff cleans up all of the paint supplies for you, and your only job is to cart home the painting which is dry by the time you leave. I will definitely return again, possibly for the mimosa morning session which includes a free mimosa.

This place was fantastic! Starting with the owner and her amazing customer service fixing a Groupon error that wasn’t even her issue and ending in a fantastic classroom experience.
The artist was very sweet and did a great job managing a very full class. I wish she would’ve gone just a bit slower for us newbies, but can totally understand the time constraints and classroom management struggles!
They all did amazing and made us feel comfortable and welcome. The painting itself was harder than expected but practice makes perfect! I will definitely try it again.
The location is great and street parking is available nearby. May have to walk a bit, but used to that!
Bartenders were patient and friendly. Average pricing for a night out.
Overall it was a fantastic experience and definitely wanted to send a shoutout to MJ for her help in resolving what could’ve been a very frustrating situation! Thank you!

This place is absolutely wonderful and has become sort of a traditional when family comes into town. When we have our family visiting, I take them here. We have such a wonderful time and when it’s over, we keep each others paintings. Everytime I look up at the wall, I smile at the memories created here.
The instructor, Scotti (I believe is her name), is wonderful. She goes slowly and takes time to explain each step. I’ve never felt rushed and she’s pretty funny!
All materials are provided. I love it! Go to a class! You will be happy you did! Xo

Playing catch-​up with my bookmarks but this is for my sisters private bday event back in January.
I’m not sure about the costs on the event, but i thought this was a fun and fantastic private event idea. She got a bunch of friends/​family together and we drank wine while we painted. I believe it came with one drink voucher. She was able to bring food (cake, sandwiches, chicken, etc.)
It was really fun and our instructor was really nice (and patient!) I definitely would do this again whether it’s with a class or private event.
Depending on the time, it can be hard finding parking since its Fremont but my bf & I found one fairly close. We were lucky bc other cars were circling around longer than we were.

I bought a LivingSocial offer to do a Date Night here with my husband. Actually, I purchased this as a gift for my husband because he likes going out and doing things together — mostly eating good food. So this offer gave us something new to do and sounded like a lot of fun!
We both redeemed the offer last weekend, and had a blast! Everything was well organized, the instructions were clear and well paced, and the music selection was awesome. The drink selection was small, but good. Overall, it was a fantastic experience!
I hope they do another couple’s painting in the future, with a different scene to paint. Its so much fun!

Loveeeee this place. I’ve came here with my boyfriend a few times and its so fun! Not a normal painting class because you can paint whatever you want, drunk! Lol the only thing I would say on a negative note is that it’s a little pricey. $ 80 for two people. But it is definitely worth it to go at least a few times. If it was a little cheaper I would go every weekend!

I don’t write a lot of Unilocal reviews, but I feel the need to help my fellow single man out there.
I’m writing this review for all the gentlemen that enjoy taking their lady/​significant other on dates that are different, lively, and immensely memorable. If you’re a woman reading this, its ok, feel free to continue. But if you’re a guy that enjoys doing the same thing on dates, considers taking a date to Sizzler a fun night out, and really have no desire to change things up — then feel free to stop reading now.
So, I recently had a lady friend from Vancouver Canada come and visit for the weekend. To say I’m quite smitten is an understatement. For her stay, I wanted to plan an evening date that was different from the usual dinner&movie, drinks&bowling, dancing&nightclub dates that many men (including myself) often recycle.
But one night, the dating Gods threw me a bone.
On a few recent Facebook feeds, I would often see pictures of my gal friends getting together for painting and wine nights on their «girls night out» events. The pictures were often followed by 20 – 25 comments saying how the night was a blast! Other gals would also comment wishing they could go, or they’d love to try it, or they wish their boyfriends would take them — Bingo! Alcohol AND Painting? What an awesome pairing! After some research, I found that Canvas in Kirkland was the hands down favorite of my gal friends. Since I live in Belltown, I was happy to see that Canvas also has a Fremont location.
Booking the event from their website was easy, I called the next day to confirm our reservation and was happy to know my booking went through without a hitch!
We were advised to arrive 30 minutes before the start session, and was immediately greeted by our artist Ashley. There are about 20 – 25 seats, and the Fremont studio is bright and welcoming. There was a place to hang our jackets, as we dawned our painting aprons that were provided by the staff.
The bar has several red and white wine choices, along with a selection of beers and non-​alcoholic options (soda, water).
As soon as the painting commenced, 2.5 hours of fun couldn’t have gone by any faster! WE HAD A BLAST!
The Pros:
* Great location in Fremont with lots of street parking.
* There are many sessions throughout the week with different subjects to paint.
* Aprons, paint supplies, brushes, canvas, and equipment are all provided.
* Purchasing alcohol is not mandatory or required.
* The environment is fun and light hearted w/​an upbeat selection of music playing in the background while you paint.
* Instruction is very easy going and helpful — you don’t have to be a professional or artistically inclined to leave with a beautiful piece of unique art.
* After its all said and done… you get to walk away with an awesome souvenir reminder of the great time.
* Oh yea… they have alcohol there!
I have No Cons. However, here are some tidbits worth noting:
* There is no food served. We were welcomed to bring snacks ourselves. But honestly, the 2.5 hours flies by so fast, you don’t even notice.
* You will get paint on yourself. It is an artist studio after all. So plan on being careful and not to wear your $ 1000 Gucci suit.
Without question, Canvas Paint and Sip Studio’s reputation for hosting a uniquely memorable night out is well earned. Go for a girl’s night out. Go for a fun experience. Go because the inner-​goofy kid in all of us that now works 40 hours a week in a cubical is dying to come out and try something totally new! Just Go!
And by the way, my date was blown away with my choice of our first date. She kept mentioning how fun and creative our night out was. And yes, I scored a second date.

Great place for a creative date! I went to the Saturday evening class with my girlfriend and we had a blast. The class is very laid back, not rushed, and there’s alcohol to help you paint! Everyone seemed to have a great time and you get to take your «art» home with you to share!

I like this location better than the Kirkland one. But parking is street only. Same cramped seating like the Kirkland location. Had a problem redeeming vouchers. We bought one for paint & drinks but the girls there said ours was only for painting. We had to show proof after 10mins of searching for the original email advertisement promoting the sale. Luckily I still had that email or else I would have been jipped. The class was scheduled for 7pm, the confirmation email said to be there at 6. We arrived at 6 and no one was there. The shop was closed. So we called the number listed and finally after 4 tries we got a hold of someone and the person said it should be open and sorry for the mistake on the time confirmation… a little late when we now have to wait an hour
Steps of how to paint the feature canvas felt like it was rushed through, not leaving you much time… so paint fast people! Wish there was a better selection of painting on the weekends like the Kirkland calendar

Already addicted! I was not sure what to expect and it was so much fun! Ashley was a wonderful host. Amazing idea for girls night, friends, and couples. Wine and artistry, you cannot go wrong!!!

We had an awesome ladies night here! We painted and laughed the night away! Ashley was a wonderful teacher and guided us through the process with encouragement and humor! Great music great wine great friends and great fun!

Best girls night idea! Ashley was so fun. I am the worst artist you could imagine and she made it fun and easy. (not to mention the wine helps:)) I will absolutely be here again. Please give Ashley a major high five!

This place is awesome! Such a great way to spend a different night out. It would be great for a date, girls night out, birthday outings, the options are really endless. They serve beer and wine, so it’s 21 and over. We were here for a night when there were only 6 people in the class, and our artist Ashley was an absolute pleasure. She tended the bar, gave helpful advice, and guided us through our paintings, step by step. The music while we created our masterpieces was a nice touch. Sessions are booked online, and they have different paintings every night. I know I’ll be back soon to add to my own personal gallery. Do this, it’s so much fun :-)
