Don’t go if you see they are busy! Living close by to this neighborhood café is very convent and usually great for a quick bite as I typically eat out every weekend for breakfast. But if you are hungry and you have to wait for a table best just keep walking. Normally the portions are very liberal but this past weekend the pancakes where half the size they usually are and the bacon wasn’t even cooked all the way through. Nothing upsets a hungry man like getting a old woman’s serving size plate of food put in front of you and bacon as flaccid as an old mans member! I honestly think the cook was in too much of a hurry to let it stay on and thoroughly cook, along with the time the regular portion pancakes would have taken. What… an extra 1 – 3 mins? I won’t make that mistake again and I’m a very good tipper too. I still tipped on the high side even for the child sized meal I was presented. So a message to the cook stay consistent don’t shortcut your orders!

Cute little place tucked in the heart of West Seattle. Staff were extremely friendly. Overall, everything from wait times, service, and food were great, no complaints! Skirt steak salad was delicious. Medium-rare was perfect for me! Fries were housemade and crispy, just how I like it! And adobo chicken quesadilla was good, but even better the next day! Definitely coming back to try their brunch menu! Reread this and I think I used too many exclamation points but that is okay because that is how I feel hehe.

A friend told me they had the best burgers in town! Not really they are not bad but nothing special. I tried the lamb and the circa burger, both slightly over cooked even after we requested medium rare, liked the veggies did not care for the type of bun. Like I said it’s just a burger. You can pick any other place that serves burgers for half the price for the same taste.

We have been to Circa about 8 times or so and usually the service is ok to slow but this time it was probably the worst we have ever had. I will give them the benefit of the doubt as it was lunch time on New Year’s Eve and they were probably short staffed but it wasn’t just that the service was slow, they forgot our appetizer, forgot to get us utensils/napkins and our waters were never refilled. I also asked for a different dipping sauce than the one our appetizer comes with but when they brought out our appetizer, it came without any sauce period… And it was mid-meal. I am giving them 3 stars because they didn’t charge us for the appetizer, the food was good and our past experiences have been ok but honestly if they don’t step up the speed and quality of service, I won’t be back. Don’t even bother coming here during your work lunch break… Unless you are allowed to have an hour and a half break!

I have been going to Circa for years, it’s a little west Seattle gem. I had moved out of the neighborhood two years ago and hadn’t been back since, until last night. Best meal I have had there!!! I had the sole almandine special. As a former cook in a well known, local seafood establishment, I can be very high maintenance when it comes to fish. This was cooked perfectl, Nice and delicate. The sauce was completely balanced, very flavorful, yet allowed the fresh sole be the star of the dish. My 4 year old son had the kids big burger, cleaned his plate. That’s not a small feat, let me assure you. What I love best about circa is that it’s like a chameleon — it adapts completely to what you are needing in terms of your environment. I have been there on intimate dates, mom’s night out, brought my in laws for brunch, and weeknight dinners with my son. I have always received attentive, and genuinely friendly service. I heard that there are new owners running it now, hats off to them!!! Things are even better. I’ll def make it a point to go back into the old neighborhood more often.

Circa is my Family’s go to dinner spot! Great neighborhood vibe– friendly staff, interesting beer selection And they have the best kids menu options. I’m pretty much stuck between their circa burger, fish n chips and meatloaf but my husband always gets whatever the nightly special is. We always leave happy! It’s hard to find a place that so consistently hits the mark!

Why this place doesn’t yet have 5 stars is mind boggling to me. I don’t write reviews, but I am for this place because they earned it! By far the best brunch in West Seattle by a long shot. Cute interior featuring local artists. Food came out fast and was mouth watering. No matter what you get make sure to order a banana pancake on the side. They come with a side of liquid heaven to dip or pour on it! Louisiana Benedict hit the spot as well. Definitely will be back soon!

The food was awesome. The fish and chips was perfectly breaded/fried. It wasn’t greasy or over done. My boyfriend is super picky about his fish because he catches his own Salmon, and he loved it. Sweet potato fires had good flavor, but was a little limp. A little on the pricy side, but the food was good enough to be worth it.

This place is pretty basic American food. Pretty cute décor and friendly enough staff. I got the standard which includes coffee cake. Pretty great portions, I only got through a bite of the coffee cake before I had to box it to-go. The orange juice was fresh squeezed which was great and unlike most restaurants. There is also an alley for parking which is really convenient considering how busy California Ave. is. I’ll definitely come back to see if there are any favorite dishes.

Quaint atmosphere. Had the lox smoked salmon floratine which was amazing. A must-try. Awesome breakfast accompanied by some Bob Marley… yeah, good stuff.

Cozy booths, small tables and a bar! Monkey do: MONSTERVEGGIESCRAMBLE– 3 eggs, tomatoes, spinach, zucchini, onions, cheese w/hash browns + COFFEECAKE instead of toast — Monkey wouldn’t call it a monster, but it hit the spot KIDS’ BANANAPANCAKE– 2 fluffy cakes, fruit, thick cut bacon — can i have the kids plate next time! The raspberry JAM on the table with pancake taste like jelly donut in your mouth. Street parking and small lot behind restaurant. Friendly, helpful service. Great little neighborhood grill and ale house. Monkey shall return after a good, long run.

The mole is truly amazing. Luxuriously bathing the shredded pork and corn tortilla, with crunchy sprouts salad and warm beans and rice. The beer list is spot on, both nitro and regular. You even get tv in the bar. My go to place.

Need some comfort food? Want to connect with your neighbors? Need a friendly waitstaff or bartender to perk you up? Circa has the cure for what ails you: The friendliest of staff serving you consistently good comfort food(Meatloaf, Harissa Lamb Burger, Steak Salad, Mole Enchiladas, whatever the special that day is, the sweet potatoes fries and the dipping sauce for them… etc…etc. There’s often a wait, but never for long. You almost always run into somebody you know. Service is always friendly, prompt, and congenial. We’ve been going here periodically for over 10 years and its as good today as the first day we walked through the doors. A tried and true neighborhood stalwart that’s always there for you.

Saw the good reviews and I’ve always lived in west Seattle so I decided to check it out. Went around 10 am on a Saturday morning and there was no wait which I liked. What I didn’t enjoy was the service or the food itself. The waitress we had acted like she was there to collect a pay check. Didn’t explain the menu or recommend anything. And only stopped by the table once or twice after giving us our food. As far as the food, the portions were kind of small for the price. The biscuits and gravy came with two small thin biscuits and maybe half a cup of gravy on top. It was just okay and nothing to ride home about. I would try it again but definitely not my first choice in west Seattle.

Every time I go here I always get their steak salad and my bf get the lamb burger. The portions are huge and they never disappoint. The waiters are very polite and check up on you often. I only come here for dinner, but we can’t wait to try their brunch menu.

So I just moved to West Seattle, and one of my favorite things about this area is the sheer number of local joints like this. I am in absolute heaven! Anyway, on to my Circa review. I can’t get enough of this place. I’d already have gone back several times if there weren’t so many new spots to try. Small restaurant, and not too much seating with a little bar area and a few TV’s. Service was on point, not in your face and we never wanted for anything. Server was helpful in identifying some beer pairings for our food and even let us sample a few of them. We had a really tough time deciding on our dinner and pored over the menu forever. Fresh, unique selections and really, honestly, EVERYTHING looked good. Finally decided to go with the butternut squash tacos. They were a slam dunk and I even had enough for lunch the next day! Looking forward to working our way through their entire menu!

Ordered soup, salad and an IPA. The rice and chicken soup is really nice. Flavorful blend of spices with tomatoes, mishrooms, carrots, and greens. Definitely an Asian hot & sour lean to it. The accompanying bread has nuts and a nice chewy texture to it. The salad has romaine greens, red onions, candied walnuts, raisins, and a goat or feta cheese sprinkled on top. Very lightly dressed. Very nice. The Trickster IPA from Black Raven is fantastic of course.

Ate here for lunch recently, I had the Havanna club(something close to that) and my friend at the fish and chips. My sandwich was great, highly recommend it. The fish and chips were good, but not great. Overall the restaurant has a relaxing atmosphere, adequate seating and a wide variety of items on the menu, prices are decent too!

Pros: Friendly staff, interesting and cozy space, good enough beer selection. Cons: Difficult parking lot, awkward entryway, no permanent host, hit-or-miss service(servers are friendly but at times inattentive even when alcohol is being ordered), severely lacking in vegan and/or vegetarian fare. The dishes are meat-heavy and not easily modified to cater to vegetarians or vegans. There is a mediterranean platter item and a butternut squash taco, which you can leave the dairy off of. And, of course salads. Granted, the butternut squash tacos were quite good without the cheese and other dairy, but the rice was not actually fully cooked — a little disappointing. I’d go back if others wanted to, but would probably not choose it for myself.

I mean, it was alright. It wasn’t terrible. But I could make anything I was served here in my own kitchen. In fact, I could make much better pancakes. My boyfriend and I tried this place for brunch. After seeing all the excellent reviews and pictures, I was excited! But the taste did not live up to the appetizing view. It was a feast for the eyes, but left my tastebuds bored. The primary complaint I have is that the pancakes are THICK. Not light or fluffy at all. Just starchy and heavy. I didn’t like them because I tend to take the phrase«flat as a pancake» fairly literally in my enjoyment of them. If it’s more like a slice of Texas toast filled with cement, color me disinterested. My boyfriend had toast, eggs, and hash browns. It was nothing bad. Just nothing particularly good either. I probably won’t go back when I could have similar quality food at home and for a lot less cash.
