Pretty decent Mexican food. They have a bar, but don’t seem to have a bartender. They had to have the cook come out and get my beer. Wait staff are attentive and friendly.

Best salsa in Seattle, period. The mole never disappoints either. Great, friendly owners.

Just like as reported, kinda ghetto, run down etc… but the food is the bomb. Homemade tortillas and chips is the key here. I had the carne burrito and was not disappointed. Family run business and they are very friendly and proud of their restaurant.

Holy burrito this place is good! Don’t be fooled by the exterior. The interior is clean and service is nice and welcoming. We did have to wait a little for our food to get out but that’s how you know your food is fresh and made to order. I got the carne asada burrito and the flavor was out of this world. The husband got the pollo a la crema which delicious as well! Their chips and salsa is so addicting! The chips are light and crispy and their salsa is spicy just like I like it! This is our new fav Mexican place and will definitely come back again!

I love this place! The people here are amazing, they provide you with such great service you feel like you are at a relative’s house. The chips are always fresh the salsa is amazing, be careful because you could get full off of the chips and salsa alone. They make hand made corn tortillas! So good and so fresh if you have never had handmade tortillas you do not know what you are missing. I like to get carne asada tacos with hand made tortillas. Or arroz con pollo with hand made torts or fajitas de camaron with handmade torts :) basically anything that I can eat with these tortillas is delicious!

Great Mexican dive. Reminds me of when I lived in Phoenix. Chile Relleno is fantastic. Wonderful salsa.

Atmosphere: Located in Georgetown’s only hipster-free zone, this dive reminds me of the Georgetown of decades-past. I like that. It’s nice to see some grit in an area that is now starting to have an almost yuppie-ized, faux grittiness. When I went into the bathroom, there was actually a guy giving himself a five-minute monkey-bath in the sink, and there were a bunch of blue-collar guys getting hammered in the bar. You won’t see that on the Airport Way side! Chips and Salsa. The chips were okay. The salsa was really good – and much spicier than what I’ve had at most other restaurants. Entrée: The food was average, but the price was relatively inexpensive. Drink: This place makes the strongest Margarita I’ve ever tasted. Usually I can taste the lime syrup and can’t taste the booze. With this Margarita, I could taste the booze, but barely detect the lime flavoring. Customer Service: Although the service is a little slow, the staff seems genuinely friendly.

I love Coliman. I always order the mini chimichanga and enchilada combo and it never fails to be awesome. I am vegetarian so can only speak for their veggie items but this is my #1 go to Mexican restaurant close by. Prices are very reasonable, service is always great, and free chips and salsa — Love it! I like the salsa — it is on the thin side but tasty and spicy. Don’t let the outside appearnce fool you. Try it!

From reading previews reviews, Coliman will either be a hit or miss for you. The customer service is genuine and they’re very nice. You get salsa and chips when you’re seated. From looking at Coliman, it looks like a hole in a wall because of the location, but when you walk in its pretty good. It’s kinda dark in the restaurant. The salsa is really good, but kinda too liquidy for my taste. I always order the carne asada burrito and tamale. The tamale isn’t one of the best, but decent when you’re hungry. The burrito is decent sized as well. You can get bigger proportions at other places but it’s pretty yummy. I agree with others saying it’s pricy, but it’s the only Mexican restaurant within location so I’m willing to pay a lil more on food than gas money.

This is right down the street from my house. When you’re hungry and need for now. It’s the closest place to walk. They staff is very friendly. You get chips and salsa right when u sit down. I’ve had the tacos before. They were okay. I’ve had better tacos. I’ll come here in a pinch. :)

I work up the street and my co-workers love Mexican food so we inevitably find ourselves here, especially when we’re too lazy to trek all the way to Jalisco’s(and wait). One thing this place has going for it is that it’s huge and you will never have to wait. I don’t think I’ve even seen it half full — EVER. The service is also good(at least it has been for me) and the hostess/waitress is really nice. The prices are reasonable — they also have lunch specials and almost everything I’ve ever had is well under $ 10 when you’re done. The food isn’t the fastest, but I figure if you’re going anywhere for a sit down meal, you shouldn’t be tapping your feet and watching the clock too much. Overall, not bad. There is a limited number of places you can eat around here without driving much farther and this is definitely a solid destination if you’re in need of a lunch.

When I first stumbled on these guys on Unilocal,I was surprised to see that a restaurant existed in this area. It’s not a great part of town and it’s in an odd area that you wouldn’t expect to see any commercial business. I was impressed with the food and the prices were fair, but the service was really on the slow side. The place wasn’t even a third full, but for some reason we had to flag people down to keep our water, chips and salsa full. They also brought us chips in a bold about the size of a soup bowl, It wasn’t enough for one person, let alone two. After bring chips a few times, they upgraded us to the kind of basket you are used to seeing at Mexican restaurants, but again, the basket was only about 60% full. The water, was also close to room temperature. They put about as much water as you would expect in your glass in a pitcher, so as they walk around, that ice melts leaving with with water that isn’t cold and barely chilled. Hey, the food is good, but the service may make you question how often you would want to return.

Expensive. Waitress was nice. Salsa and chips were great. Food experience was unimpressive. When my girlfriend and I went, we were the only people in there for half our meal. That was kinda cool. It was like we had the place to ourselves. The biggest complaint was the price of the food and the quality. I ordered the Arroz Con Pollo which was mediocre. A bit too seasoned but cut with the rice and tortilla it was decent. The iceberg lettuce on my plate turned me off. It felt like such a cheap option to accompany a $ 10 plate. The beans were good. My girlfriend ordered a shredded beef burrito. It looked good. Good size, good portion of meat/filling ratio. Coming from Portland where I knew 5 – 6 different places for burritos and tacos… I would say the burrito quality was good but the price was much higher than a burrito normally cost.

Three stars are because the service is so darn nice! But if I had to rate it on food… well, I’m bummed to say it is a definite two. You would think I would avoid chicken burritos after my last kerfuffle in Fremont, but they are usually a quick and easy food when I’m in a hurry. The place has its own lot right off of Marginal Way(next door to Calozzi’s) which is a plus. I got a wet chicken burrito to go, and it came with a bag of chips and salsa. Sweet! They salsa was okay, but not the best. The chips were standard but the burrito was less than standard, unfortunately. The inside was runny in a not-good way, the flavor was meh and the sauce had a weird after-taste/smell. But it wasn’t inedible, so I gave them another try. Chips/salsa to go, and this time I ordered the Pollo a la Crema. Man, not tasty. The accompanying beans were watery and it was served with lettuce(?) The rice was standard. Again, friendly people, but I would not want anybody to eat here because I have checked in here before. I’ll likely not be back, but check it out and see what you think.

One of the best things about being involved with the Georgetown Community Council is that we hold our monthly meetings here. Tell me another neighborhood council meeting where you can get a Negra Modelo or a Margarita, fresh made tortilla chips and salsa, and some pretty tasty Mexican food? It’s not fancy smancy souped up Mexican fare, just quality hand made simple food. They always support our neighborhood summer picnic with donated chips and salsa, on Duwamish Alive clean ups Clean Scapes has brought in their delicious Chimi’s to feed the volunteers, good, friendly neighborhood family run establishment and another of our little hidden gems.

I’m really sorry; I know this place has a lot of fans, and I’m not trying to write a ‘hit piece’ here. I’ve been here a few times, and just have to conclude that there’s really nothing here that would make me want to come back. As Mexican restaurants go, I’m afraid Coliman is rather mediocre. On the plus side, the salsa is really good; smoky and spicy, definitely not for the weaker constitutions. On the minus side, my carne asada was well below average; rather dry, overdone and not particularly well marinated. The refried beans were really thin, almost as if the kitchen was watering them down to stretch quantities and save costs. Service was really slow too, which was really bad when you have 2 servers working 3 tables on a slow Saturday afternoon. It is also very puzzling that a restaurant with a bar would have no beer on tap available, and in a beer town like Seattle, that’s pretty much a cardinal sin for a casual restaurant. But Coliman has been around for awhile; I think more by virtue of the fact it’s pretty much the only Mexican restaurant in the SW Georgetown area(actually, pretty much the ONLY sit-down table service restaurant around there) and it has a nice little residential area next to it to provide a ‘captive audience’ as it were. Coliman is pretty much a place you’d go to if you were hungry, desperate to find someplace to eat — fast — and weren’t terribly picky about what you got. Otherwise, go elsewhere; I know I will.

No thank you. We went there for a work party so it was catered. We had a number of dishes, all real bad. Dry. Flavorless. I am not sure I am willing to give it another chance. The bar looked real fun though.

My boyfriend works in South Seattle and — for the first time in quite a while — I had to head down that direction to pick something up for work. So we decided to meet up and have lunch together at Coliman. The staff was very friendly. The hostess was smiling and very welcoming and let us choose wherever we wanted to sit. Our waitress was very polite and our food came out fairly quick. The interior left a little something to be desired, but it was clean and spacious. I ended up having a chimichanga combo meal with a mini chimichanga, a crispy taco, and rice and beans. The crispy taco was very good — just the right amount of cheese and beef and I was able to add my own lettuce, which was nice. The beans were okay — a bit liquidy, but they had good overall flavor. The rice was probably the disappointing part of the meal. It was virtually flavorless and every now and then I came around a piece that was overcooked. I have yet to eat the mini chimichanga because I was too full — but I will be having it for leftovers later on! The only thing that wasn’t great was when the waitress delivered our food and asked if we wanted more chips. I didn’t really want any, but my boyfriend did, so he asked for more. She never brought us back any chips and we never really had a chance to flag anyone down and ask for more. We ended up fine without them, but we had asked for them, so it would have been nice to get them. Overall, this was a fine place for lunch. Nothing super great, but generally solid Mexican food and we had a good time together.
