Courtesy Tire is your complete auto repair center, we’re not just a tire shop. Our high quality auto repair services are performed by ASE-​certified mechanics. We handle a range of things including brakes, alignments, suspension repair, engine repair, diagnostics, heating and cooling, preventative maintenance, emissions repairs, A/​C, and exhaust systems. We carry top brands like Bridgestone, Michelin, BF Goodrich and Pirelli. We offer 12 month/12,000 mile warranties on work performed as well.

History

Established in 1982.

Courtesy Tire has been serving the Seattle area since 1968, with two locations. One in the Capitol Hill area of Seattle at 2102 E Madison St. and the other in West Seattle at 4820 California Ave SW.

Our business has a long history of quality repairs and honest service. Every employee embodies the virtues the business was built upon, and we will go out of our way to ensure every customer experience with Courtesy Tire is an excellent one.

Business Owner

Scott Lybeck started working at Courtesy Tire in the 1960s when he was in high school. He worked his way through the ranks over the years, and eventually bought the business from his boss.

He holds the business to high standards of excellence and quality in both service and repairs. He and the staff strive to be professional, friendly and courteous, dealing with customers with the utmost respect and integrity. These values have helped make the business successful over the years. I hate giving really negative reviews so I am just giving this place 3 stars, although I probably could give less. I went in and ended up waiting and waiting and waiting. Someone told me he would be right with me, then continued talking to a very pretty customer, which I don’t blame him for. I waited for about 10 minutes and when I realized that he was just kind of chit chatting with her about stuff not related to tires or cars. The conversation didn’t look like it would end anytime soon so I just ended up leaving and went somewhere else and got my back two tires replaced that day so it all ended well.

We have an oil leak on our 2000 car with 175k miles on it. Kelly worked with us on a very smart approach to 1) clearly identify the issue and 2) come up with multiple options to either fix or not to fix given the age of the car. We have had this car for 16 years and all service is documented. Kelly took all of that into account. I honestly felt like a partner even more than a customer. I could not be happier with Kelly and the team!

I get my oil changes here every time. Great pricing and I trust them to give it to me straight. They’ve done work on my Corolla and a old VW Golf I used to have that I had towed to them several times. They always are able to fit me in and get things done in a timely manner.

Brought my car in for an oil change one afternoon, without an appointment. The gentlemen were very nice, and got me in, even though it was mostly full. I have to get full synthetic, and it was much less expensive here than anywhere else I’ve seen. Awesome place, and I’ll definitely return.

I was scrambling to find a place to get my car services because it was about 2,000 miles overdue from a much needed service.
I brought my car on a Saturday right at 8:00 am hoping they had room for a last-​minute reservation. The doors were already open and I was surprised to be greeted right away. Tim, the manager of Courtesy Tire helped me.
I was very pleased to hear he would fit it in. So I left it there and walked home. I got a call at 11:20 am and it was Tim telling me my car was ready to picked up. What fast and friendly service!

The weekend rolled around and I needed to take the truck in for an oil change. I’ve been used to doing it myself, but with the holidays around I haven’t had much time. So I swung into Courtesy. I’ve had mixed experiences with mechanics and the various oil shops, however, these guys were great. They knew not to try to tack on a bunch of useless garbage or services I didn’t need. They got the job done quick and cheap. That’s how you earn my business. Well done.

Always AWESOME service. Always.
We use them all the time for a variety of things everything from flat tires to blown gaskets and they always come through with fast service and good prices.
I was even told once that a older car that we had was not worth doing the work on.
That really sold me on their honesty.
They have a great evening drop if you need to get your car towed in.

Disappointed my second time and won’t be going back. Even though I used a coupon, this oil change was $ 5 more. The clerk told me I wasn’t charged for an additional quart (this is $ 5?) of oil, as my jeep takes 6 quarts as opposed to the satndard 5 the first time. They expressed zero concern for this.
Also, one of the techs came out to the parking lot to give us the oil cap that goes under my hood. He «forgot» to put it back on.
Enough said.

I was scrambling. With a move letter from my company putting me in San Diego the next week and no AC in the Accord I was out of time!
I hit up a local mechanic with solid reviews on Unilocal (he was slammed) and so he recommended Courtesy Tire.
First they refilled the AC and it worked for like 5 min, they called me and said, hey bad news. Its probably the compressor but only the clutch, we will replace the clutch only on the compressor to save you some money. They pulled all of it out replaced the clutch, put it all back in and again it worked for like 5 min. Called me back a second time and let me know what happened. Returned the clutch, bought a new compressor and replaced the whole thing all over again and only charged me for the Clutch. And they did it in like 2 days.
I mean these guys saved me like $ 500 bucks!
Not only are they super professional and informative talking you through all the issues on the phone, they are NICE! I had the pleasure of dealing with Glenn and especially with Kelly. You guys are awesome. Thanks for the ICY AC in July! It was 110 degrees driving down through LA!

Courtesy Tire is the best! It’s the only place in Seattle to go for an oil change or car maintenance! They are affordable and genuinely nice. I’ve taken my car here multiple times and have always had a great experience. Today, they were able to fit me in for a last minute drop-​off appointment to get my oil changed. After thinking it would take a few hours, they had my car done in less than an hour, and they notified me that there was a hole in my tire that they offered to fix! Kelly is a great guy and is always so helpful and nice. I definitely recommend taking your car here!

I am writing this review because I am so surprised and hurt by my most recent experience with Courtesy Tire. I first moved a few blocks from the Junction a little over a year ago and this place was perfect because it was right within walking distance and had good reviews. Within a few months of going here, I had gotten a few oil changes and new tires with no problems. When my car began making some old-​car noises, I took it in for a check up and they told me two things that could possibly be causing the noise. I opted to fix both (to the tune of almost $ 600) and the noise still persisted. They told me that’s just what old cars do (yeah, yeah so I’ve heard) and I dismissed it, hoping I hadn’t just been taken. The next time I went in for an oil change, my check engine light had just come on and I asked how much it would be for a diagnosis. The man at the front desk at the time told me they charge $ 169 for an engine diagnosis. $ 169…WHAT??? That’s outrageous. Especially since I had already given this place almost $ 1500 in repairs and tires within 6 months of moving here. Needless to say I did not pay the fee and instead got an engine check at Pepboys. Sad to say that I probably will not go back now.
Only giving two stars instead of one because (as other reviews have pointed out) they do have some exceptional customer service and are relatively quick. Good place to go if you’re not worried about how much money you spend and want someone to smile at you.

Best service experience ever for this single lady. They have a repeat customer with me. I could have taken my high mileage Honda Element to a dealer for the type of work I had done. If you want a personal mechanic that treats you right, honest, dependable, and competitively priced, this is the place. I live on the Eastside. But I still drive all the way over to W Seattle to get my car done. I started going to Courtesy Tire late 2011 when my dad was at a nursing facility close by in W Seattle and I needed a trustworthy and reliable shop nearby for convenience. My dad passed away late 2012, but I still take my car there.
In the most recent experience, they not dealt with the problem at hand (i.e. a clutch issue), they also corrected work done by another shop. They made absolutely sure my car was done right. In the meantime, knowing I lived on the Eastside, they let me borrow their company truck (instead of suggesting I get a rental car.) Fortunately, I’m able to drive manual (the truck has manual transmission) because my car is a manual. They saved me the hassle and the extra cost. Great customer service!!!
I trust them. Good guys. If you’re looking for a reliable and trustworthy shop, you don’t need to look any further, this is the place!!!

I. Love. These. Guys.
How often do you hear about people in love with their auto mechanic? Probably not very often, unless it’s in a weird way. This is not. This is straight up, true blue, honest to goodness love and appreciation for a business who provides superior customer service, at a more than fair price (sometimes they don’t even charge us!) with a smile.
We have been taking our cars here for a decade or something like that, and with my penchant for buying ten or twenty year old cars, we’ve come to trust all of the good guys here completely. They never, ever do work unless you say so, and they will happily tell us what is a priority (safety or operational) and what can be deferred. I will be a customer here even when we move out of West Seattle.
You and your car fix-​it guys– it’s all about trust, right? Go to Courtesy Tire, and don’t ever stress about getting work done on your car again.

These guys are always great. Honest, dependable, clear explanations. (Like why I shouldn’t by road hazard because by time you pay the pro-​rated price for a replacement and renewed road hazard, you’re two thirds into the price of a new tire).
And their tires have lasted, in contrast with those of Elliot Tires, where every one I’ve bought has seemed to have some problems. There are closer tire stores than Courtesy to my house, but I’ll go to Courtesy every time. Together with the nearby Foreign Car Workshop, who’s done my main repairs for years, they make a great combo.
