I started taking flamenco dance classes with Encarnacion after attending their Flamenco de Raiz show with the incredible and famous Flamenco singer Rafael de Utrera. I was so inspired by Encarna’s beautiful, powerful dancing that I immediately wanted to study Flamenco with her. I’ve danced for almost my entire life(and teach dance myself) — so I have lots of experience with dance teachers and different teaching styles. I love Encarna’s approach to teaching. Her style is very organic, authentic and gentle — while remaining challenging and inspiring. I’ve never had a teacher who also can sing while we dance — love it! She knows how to encourage students to stretch to their limit — while keeping a supportive and fun attitude. Flamenco is not an easy dance form to pick up — but despite the challenge of it I’ve always enjoyed Encarna’s class tremendously — simply because of her infectious energy. And I’m amazed at how much I’ve learned in a relatively short time. I’ve seen Eric and Encarnacion perform countless times, and I’m still left breathless each time. They are both so enormously talented — and are making Seattle a richer place by sharing their gifts and bringing amazing, world-reknown flamenco artists to the area. I highly recommend both of them as performers and teachers. Don’t miss the chance to attend one of their many shows — you’ll leave feeling inspired, energized, and like you just got back from a unforgettable voyage to Spain.

I’ve been studying Flamenco dance under Encarnacion for 3 ½ years through private and group classes. I feel very fortunate to have such an artist, in Seattle, teaching this form. She is authentic, soulful and she teaches this way, totally. She has an outstanding amount of experience and their performances have booked large venues, multiple days. She teaches to enjoy the dance and music as well as the performance aspect. I’ve had such a wonderful time learning from her, I can not recommend Eric and Encarnacion enough.

The way Encarna teaches flamenco dance is very effective. One of the most important things to learn flamenco is compas(rhythm) for different styles of flamenco, and she emphasizes it. She also explains what styles/compas are related to each others, and what dance moves or footworks can used in which styles of dance too. Such teaching method has been helping me to expand my knowledge about flamenco and providing me the meaningful way of learning. For dance, she doesn’t just teach choreographies, she helps us to develop how to express emotions in the dance to make it flamenco. Like anything new/different you try to learn it takes time to understand many details and it can be a challenging process, but Encarna is a caring and inspiring teacher who makes the class very fun and helps you improve your skills.
