Frelard Pizza Company

The pizza guy said our pizza would be delivered in 45 minutes to an hour, and it wasn’t delivered until exactly 2 hours later. They didn’t offer anything in return like a coupon or discount even though it was an hour late. We paid 4 dollars for the sausage topping alone and there wasn’t even very much sausage. The pizza was pretty good, but they have some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced.

We have enjoyed going to Frelard for pizza with friends and family, even if it can be challenging to find a seat.
So on Saturday, we decided to have a pizza and salad delivered. Our first time using their delivery service. We ordered via their online system, received a 5pm delivery confirmation — all good.
Then come 5pm, no pizza. By 5.20pm we were calling to ask where it was. The manager said it was out on delivery and we were first up. By 5.45pm, we were calling again, only for the delivery guy to finally rock up.
Apparently, they don’t start processing orders until 5pm, let alone begin delivery as their online system would lead you to believe. Our pizza was apparently hot when he left the restaurant, it was not when we received it. We live 5 min away — so we were definitely not his first delivery as the manager told us on the phone.
No apologies from the manager we spoke to on the phone twice, no offers of anything to make it right. Just out $ 50 for a cold pizza and soggy salad. I could have gotten better food, cheaper and quicker from Dominos.
A big thumbs down and recommendation to NOT use their delivery service. In fact, we’re just going to give them a miss entirely and go to other places like Mod PIzza that seem to care much more about the customer and product they are sending out.

This is my third time to Frelard pizza and I have loved it every single time! We had a big group of friends this last time and tried five different pizzas. From their vegetarian options to meat lovers combined, there is something there for everyone. I will say that they don’t offer gluten free, so that can be a damper if someone had celiac. The Cesar salad is delicious and who doesn’t love some local beers on tap to finish the meal?
I’ll definitely come back!

Great spot for big groups with kids. Super loud and serve yourself style.
There is an area that you can lock your kiddos in to read or play. Lovely for parents.
We ordered a single slice of cheese for our toddler and it suit him perfectly. We ordered the Troll and it was super tasty. Had leftovers to take home.

I’ve driven past the place and I always wanted you stop in so I finally did. Walking up they had a fire going on outside and it was all lit up with lights but upon entering I was incredibly disappointed. The pizza they had for slices were very old looking and unappetizing so I ordered a custom pizza. I got a bit of sticker shock when a pizza, beer, and soda came out to be 35 dollars. Which is already more than I like to spend on a pizza. I ordered a medium with pepperoni, garlic (which was a terrible choice here), coppa, and basil. The service was a bit sub par the cashier was incredibly dull and uninviting. When I finally got my food I was very underwhelmed. The taste was so bland I contemplated asking for a refund. After spending that much money I was expecting to at least be full. Nope. At least I pass by my favorite place to get a snack on the way home when I went here.

It was nice inside. Their pizza wasn’t so bad. Walking in they had such a cute outside patio with lights. A romantic feel. It’s a family place too, they had kids running around everywhere. A good place for friends or a date too. I’m not a big pizza fan, but their pizza was good.

Crispy crust, good variety of toppings, fun local names for the pizzas. Big slices. Parking is hard to find but the atmosphere is fun and relaxed.

It was a perfect day for a hot slice and a cold brew — low 50s out, a little rainy. I searched for (pizza emoji) in the area (so much more fun to use the emoji than to spell out «pizza»). I saw that Frelard was under a mile away and received some positive reviews so far — easy decision.
It was about 2pm on a Sunday afternoon. There were a few families enjoying whole pies, otherwise, the place was pretty empty. I ordered two slices at the counter, one garlic/​rapini and one jalapeño/​black olive. It makes me feel healthy when I order a pizza with greens on it. I also ordered a Stoup, a nice local brew. (total about $ 14, not including tip) I didn’t see the Stoup listed on the current tap list — I only noticed it by looking for the tap handles. I believe it was a porter, as confirmed by a later visit to Stoup that night. It would have been nice to have the drafts up to date. Great selection altogether, paired nicely with variety of pizzas available by the slice.
The pizza was pretty good. I like the bitterness of the rapini and the spice of the jalapeño (not to mention the generous sprinkling of crushed red pepper). The first few bites were a little soft, as might be customary with a pie that has been sitting for the better part of the lunch hour, despite crisping in the oven. The outside part of the crust was quite crispy, with a subtle yeasty flavor, suggestive of sourdough croutons. I would like to come back and order a full, fresh pie. From what I can tell of the other families’ meals, fresher definitely looked more appealing. I guess that can also be achieved by visiting during the week, when there is a lot more turnover of the food. I guess that can be said about any restaurant, and it would certainly guarantee an additional star on a follow-​up.
As I mentioned, it was a brisk November afternoon, and the place seemed a little drafty. I had a nice view of two large flat-​screens broadcasting the NFL games. I think I stayed for about an hour, slowly sipping my Stoup. There is also a nice view of the open kitchen and ovens. Judging by the patio out front and the large bar space that was vacant during this particular visit, I can easily see this place getting lively on a pleasant afternoon/​evening. Pizza + Beer = Timeless

We have been twice, both times we ordered from the pizza case — by the slice. The pizza has been good, but always seemed a tad old. Not fresh. I guess we need to try a special order next time. Seating is limited and it can get busy but it is a fun place to meet friends for happy hour.
You have to help yourself with everything. You order at the counter, they bring your food to you but then you have to get up to go get forks, napkins, etc. so you can eat your meal. You would think they would bring that stuff with the food as a courtesy.
They have good beer and the mozzarella salad was really yummy!
We will be back for sure.

Think it’s great how they sell pizza by the slice here, and the slices are very affordable! Also have a good beer list for beer snobs (can get a pint or a pitcher).
Definitely seems to be a kid-​friendly gathering spot for the 30s crowd, but the youngins clear out by bedtime if that’s not your bag :)

Love this place! So happy that it’s just up the street from our house. Well, it’s a good and bad thing :)
Their pizza is amazing! Be sure to try the prosciutto and arugula — delish!

After a glass of drinking, an employee at a brewery I was at, recommended this place. My friends and I were pretty hungry so we got the large size. We couldn’t decide on one type of pizza, fortunately we were able to split the large into two: Whole Hog and Primo. The Whole Hog was a little too meaty for me, but the Primo was perfection. I’m into pickled vegetables, so the pickled peppers were like the cherry to my ice cream. I would definitely try more of their pizza, but probably just stick to a medium for myself :)

Reasons to find yourself here on any given time they’re open:
1. Delicious pizza, thin yet sturdy wood fired crust with the most excellent chew. You can order by single slice! (I completely love this concept that some pizza places offer)
We sampled the garlic rapini, the Hawaiian and the Salumi special, twice! All two thumbs up.
2. The castelvetrano olives marinated in chili oil. delicious hot plump green olives that are sooo good.
3. Nice layout including outdoor bench seating with a long cozy fire pit!
4. And a Child pit! (nice sectioned off area where your kid can be a kid safely) Chef Stowell has kids so obviously they’ve made an excellent impact on him. :)
5. Two big high def TV’s so everyone can eat and cheer the Seahawks on! Woot woot!!!
Fast service, good looking salads and other menu items that went by, good beer choices (they’ve got Crikey!) I can’t wait to try more items off their menu.
All this place needs now is to build the 3^rd one of these on 65^th and 32^nd Ave NE. For the love of God, will someone please help my neighborhood out?

My opinion of take out is VASTLY different than our first experience. Ordered a pizza online Friday night. Website said it should take approximately 30 minutes and that if there were any issues they would call me (this wasn’t the exact wording… but something similar). We go to the shop to pick up the pizza 35 minutes later and we’re told it’s not done yet. We wait, and wait, and wait. No apology. no explanation. Over an hour after our order, the pizza was finally ready. My boyfriend couldn’t even complain to anyone because no one would even talk to us… At one point the guy working just said «yeah our website doesn’t give accurate times.» OK that’s great, but it’s not my fault. Also, I shouldn’t have to wait for a pizza for an hour. I literally could have gone to safeway, bought ingredients, and made my own pizza faster for much cheaper.
We ordered the parma. It wasn’t great, but i’m not sure if that’s because we got it to go or what. The arugula was on the side, with lemon and dressing. No explanation if we should have put the dressing on the arugula before it was put on the salad? or the lemon? Unclear.
I worked in a pizza place for 4+ years, and this kind of service never would have been ok. If by some chance it IS going to take an hour, they should have notified us, offered us a beer, comp’ed part of our meal, etc. Ignoring us and offering no concession is DEFINITELY not how to win your customers over.
I was so excited about this place opening, but I will definitely not order a pizza here again.

Review for 7÷10÷15
Attended a rooftop party, and my friend suggested we order pizzas from Frelard. She went to their mobile app which wouldn’t allow her to order medium size pizzas like we wanted, just large, so she called to place the order. For a Friday night at 7 pm, they told her it would be about 1 hour for delivery for less than a mile away. She choose to pick up the pizzas, and they told her that shaved off 30 minutes. My friend was yelling into the phone because the restaurant so loud, the employee taking her order couldn’t hear her.
I went with her to pick up the pies. I’d not been to Frelard before. Parking is basically nonexistent with minimal street parking only. We parked in front of a gate with a large No Parking sign since I’m disabled and there was nowhere to park within 3 blocks. Walking inside, I noticed the plain picnic tables outside and the same tables indoors with a bare bones aesthetic. Concrete flooring meets concrete walls with zero pictures. Unfinished/​unstained wood tables and cashier stand. Tin buckets and an open kitchen with a teenager drying silverware, pizzas being made on the same plain wooden tables and über simple utility supplies.
The volume is incredibly loud. I would not sit indoors if I was paid. The outdoor seating would be the way to go if you wanted to dine here, but I wouldn’t, since the ambiance is the equivalent of eating inside an empty shed.
We arrived 35 minutes after placing the order, and my friend was told it would be another «few» minutes. The cashier told her he’d tell the kitchen to hurry up. There’s not anywhere to stand if you’re waiting so since Frelard was busy and more patrons were coming in, and the servers were weaving in and out with the only kitchen entrance right next to the cashier, it was chaotic.
And speaking of chaos: There was a young man who kept trying to deliver a pizza to a table but had no idea where he was going. I saw him carry the pizza and the pizza stand in and out of the kitchen four times. I hope it made it to the diners before it was cold.
We finally got our two medium pizzas and drove back to her condo. With more friends in tow, we went to the roof to eat. We had ordered the Parma (prosciutto, arugula and mozzarella) and Ballard Bridge (pepperoni, black olive, mushroom, sausage). The arugula was sent in a separate box so it was added to the pizza at the table. The crust is thin (no option on the crust desired) and the toppings also thin, but the pizza was good. I would eat it again if it was served but I wouldn’t choose it or spend money on it. Especially for $ 17 and $ 18 a pie.

The location is great and I found the open atmosphere to be very inviting and unique. I can see this would be a great location for a brewery that serves fantastic pizza. But, found instead beers on tap were okay and pizza that reminds me of pizza by the slice at PCC.
That said, this would be great place to bring a large group and just hang out and drink beer and pizza. They even have a kid corral where the kids can play while the parents are drinking beer.
I’d like to recommend Freland based on the pizza alone. But, they really need to step up their food and beverage game and create a more unique eating experience that’s not so pedestrian to match with the great atmosphere.

This place knows it’s pizza in a serious way! There’s already Parmesan cheese in the cheese mix which was delicious (normally I cake on the parm). The chili flakes are really hot here too! When I asked they said it’s because they’re really fresh.
I got a half pepperoni half carbonara (egg & bacon and we added fresh basil to the mix). I wasn’t sure how eggs on pizza was going to be but I heard good things and people weren’t wrong! Really delicious pizza and I will certainly be back for it.

Randomly drove by this place on a sunny day looking for some outdoor seating and some beer. Ended up getting pizza and absolutely enjoying myself.
This place is setup just about as perfectly as you could ask for. It’s got a lot of outdoor seating, huge garage doors that open the whole place up, and it’s at the perfect angle for sunlight in Seattle which is hard to find.
The pizza was really really good. The ingredients, the distribution, the way it was cooked, and the value for money all hit it home. The large is huge and it’s reasonably priced. Want to come here for a slice and a beer? The do slices as well! They also have a good craft beer selection.
I just might have to make this one of my go-​tos for a sunny day.
Side note: I found myself wondering «Who the hell picks a name like Frelard?» Later that day it came to me: It’s between FREmont and BalLARD (just in case anyone is as confused as I was).

Important stuff first– great service, very friendly staff, excellent food, and outdoor seating.
Living just down the road from Frelard, and being lovers of new restaurant experiences, we were excited to check out what’s been going on here since they opened just recently.
What did we find? Exactly what I said before. We were welcomed by a very friendly staff and received excellent service. While we didn’t jump on the happy hour ($ 5 for a slice and a tall boy, which a slick deal), we opted for the charcuterie board and chickpea salad. WOW, WOW, WOW! The meat selection was phenomenal, the mozzarella was fresh and creamy, and the chickpea salad was a home run.
They have great selection of beer and wine, and very comfortable outdoor picnic table seating set up.
We are always looking for a place we can sit outside (primarily because we bring our pup out for some fresh air).
I am very happy to see another excellent addition to the neighborhood food scene, and very much look forward to being a frequent flyer at Frelard. This place is all aces in my book.

I was already a fan of the Ballard Pizza Company, and I am an even bigger fan of Freland Pizza Company!
For starters, it’s a much bigger venue, and the parking situation isn’t as horrible. Plus, I really, really love the outdoor patio with fire pit. I am not one who usually enjoys sitting outside (especially on a hot day), but if you come here on a summer evening, it’s absolutely perfect. I was actually very happy to sit next to the fire pit, as it gave off the perfect amount of warmth.
The pizzas are delicious; my favorite is the Whole Hog. But you can also get slices if you don’t want commit to a whole pie. I like starting off with a salad as well; arugula is my favorite. You can easily share a medium pie and have leftovers to go, especially if you start with a salad.
The ambience here is great. Less pretentious than Ballard Ave, and as I mentioned before, the extra space is a perk. If you’re coming with a larger party, I would recommend hitting this location over Ballard Ave. Service is great as well.
So happy this place opened up! I will definitely be back on many summer evenings.
