Mostly standard café, but they have some very nice looking pastry items. Presumably made in-house judging by the name. They have very cheap if small macarons here with a decent selection of flavors. I was maxed out with regards to sweets and had just eaten lunch so we didn’t get any(which was maybe a mistake). My husband ordered a soy cappucino. He was disappointed because it was made with Stumptown coffee and he had been hoping that the place also roasted its own coffee. Don’t get me wrong, Stumptown is great coffee and this was. However, it was really more of a latte than a cappucino. I would come back to try the pastries but would hesitate to order coffee here particularly with all the choices in that department in the area.

I come here almost everyday. Drinks are consistent and never disappoint. They are quick which makes it a great spot on the go– although they do have long lines sometimes. The soup is AMAZING, never have had a soup there that wasn’t top notch. I don’t even like tomato soup in general, but theirs was delicious and totally made me fall in love. Favorites: Breakfast bagel, green tea latte, double chocolate cookie, vanilla tea latte, strawberry rhubarb galette all the employees are incredible. friendly and genuinely care about giving you great service. I don’t know what I’ll do when they move to SLU! I have shown many people this spot and they continue to go there after how amazing it was. Can’t stress how much I adore this place! I wouldn’t trust a bad review… every business has bad days, but I know a lot of people who routinely go here and I’ve never heard a complaint. I’ve been coming here for about 2 years, and I work on the block. Love em dearly! :)

This place is awesome and I’m going to be bummed when they move out of Ballard to go to S Lake Union. Their service is friendly and prompt, their pastries are tasty and beautiful, and the café has a nice, laid-back vibe. You rock, Ballard Fresh Flours! At least I still have the one in Phinney to go to.

From out of town and needed a coffee shop for a few hours to get some work done. Was a lovely place to be on a Friday morning! Very friendly staff and good wifi. Enjoyed the quiche, too.

Wow Carmelized onion and Swiss cheese croissant was lovely on a drizzly day sitting in the front window with a delicious coffee watching the farmer’s market foot traffic.

The macarons were quite tasty, light, flaky, and not overly sweet. Also tried a cinnamon roll which was delicious heated up and my green tea latte had a nice matcha flavor. This place can get quite busy on a weekend morning but no worries about options running out, fresh pans of croissants and other baked goods refilled the display case.

I came in here with high hopes because my coworker recommended this place and she stood by it. Their macarons are the cheapest by far and pretty decent tasting. However the person that sold it to me pretty much stuffed it in without thinking about it. He asked me if I wanted to put the macaron in a paper bag or a plastic box. When I chose the plastic box he seemed pretty annoyed. The plastic box fits 5 macron I chose 2 raspberry and 3 green tea. Most places would put green, pink, green pink… But he just stuffed three greens then two pink. No big deal though, it would’ve just been more appealing and i could’ve ate a raspberry macaron after a green tea macaron. But I had to go through one flavor before getting to another. I also ordered a ham and cheese croissant and asked him to heat it up for me. Once I got it the outside was nice, warm, and crispy. But the inside was cold and hard with unmelted cheese.

I was feeling impulsive after lunch, so I stopped in for dessert. I was feeling picky, but the instant I saw the flourless chocolate-rosemary crinkle cookie, I knew we were meant to be. That cookie has got to be the best cookie I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot(but I’m not a self-proclaimed cookie aficionado). It was ooey, gooey, powder-sugary, and oh-so-chocolatey. It was difficult to eat and walk at the same time, and the delicate cookie broke apart somewhat, but I caught the worthy cookie before it hit Ground Zero. Damn, that was good.

I wanted a cookie but as I was standing in line I noticed that there were flies on the cookies and other baked goods. Gross! They shouldn’t have an open-air display area. That’s why display cases were invented.

Located on the street where the farmers market is, Fresh Flours is a great bakery for breakfast and afternoon coffee especially if you are visiting the farmer market and the nearby Hiram Lock. I came here for breakfast and ordered a pithivier, a French pastry that is essentially a pie with two puff pastry with chives and meat in between — It tastes as good as it sounds! The latte also hits the spot too. The bakery has some seating in a clean setting and offers free wifi so I definitely recommend trying this place out if you are around the Ballard area!

Went to Fresh Flours today after walking around Ballard alone for the first time. Nice, quiet place and was not too busy when I got there. There was a sign saying they had the best green tea latte next to the door so that was the first thing I got. The one barista/salesman there made it while I looked at the pastries. I would have to say I was a bit disappointed with the variety they had when I got there. There wasn’t as much as I thought there would be by seeing the other reviews and pictures on Unilocal.I was expecting to get a peach Danish but there wasn’t any. :( However, I did get three macarons and a chocolate croissant. The macarons I got were matcha, yuzu, and earl grey. All are some of my favorite unique flavors. I was pleasantly surprised to see yuzu there since it isn’t very common in the area and I love the Japanese citrus fruit. The yuzu macaron would be my favorite, it had some candied yuzu bits in the cream and was pretty sweet. Early grey was delicious and green tea was not bad. The green tea macaron along with the(not the best) green tea latte were both lacking in green tea flavor. Maybe I’m too used to it, but I love a strong matcha flavor, and the latte was not sweet enough either. The chocolate croissant was flaky, but I would prefer it warmed a little so there is more softness in the layers and the chocolate. A little lack luster for the ‘best’ green tea latte and the macarons are a bit pricy but they are made well. I would probably just go back for some yuzu ones though.

I got to try the Azuki(red bean) croissant and the coconut carrot cake thanks to the 50% pastry Happy Hour that a fellow Unilocaler shared about. Both were very mild in sweetness(in a good way) and very well worth the $ 3.20 I paid total. I am obsessed with red bean and was pleasantly surprised to find such an item on their menu! Would definitely advise locals to visit between 4−5pm to snag some deals before end of day!

Saw this place recently when coming to the Ballard Farmer’s Market. Decided to have breakfast here and I think I found a new spot for me to come to. Nice looking selection of baked good as you walk in, some savory items as well like croissants and bagel sandwiches. We decided to get the egg & cheese sandwich on an everything bagel along with a peach danish. Sandwich was good, but I believe its microwaved to be warmed up. Everything bagel had pretty much everything on it and it was quite good and fresh. Peach danish was perfectly crisp, flaky, and with the delicious sweet peaches. A very good morning pastry! Service was fine, they were friendly & nice when ordering. I like the quiet atmosphere and not all loud(except on Sundays) because if I havent had my coffee yet, I get easily annoyed with people. Dont we all? A decent amount of tables inside, a few outside and some window seats too. Dont forget to bus your own table. Anways, a nice café spot in Ballard and I plan on coming back to try more of their offerings.

I love Stumptown coffee. So this is an automatic win for me. I usually judge a coffee place by its Americanos. Unadulterated coffee. Fresh Flours has got it down. It always has the perfect amount of water. Sometimes I opt for an almond milk latte or in the summer, Cold Brew. But the Cold Brew gives me the jitters so I try not to go too crazy. But both of those options are excellent. The breakfast sandwiches are awesome. The croissants and very light and flaky. Pretty much all flakes and it’s very overall delicious. You can’t really mess up a egg, cheese, and bacon sandwich. Service is good once you’re a regular, sometimes they are understaffed so it can be kind of slow. They also allow dogs which is great because I hate seeing dogs tied outside.

Walked in expecting the typical European style pastries, so was pleasantly surprised to find yummy, unusual Asian treats(in addition to the standbys). I tried the black sesame shortbread(so good!) and the green tea/adzuki muffin(not too sweet and a good green tea flavor). I like my sweets on the uh, less sweet side so these were really to my taste :)

Still can’t believe I hadn’t stopped in here before! Delicious coffee(über-silky/creamy mocha) and croissants(especially the ham and cheese, the caramelized onion, or even the chocolate). I really wish I had been hungrier so that I could have tried one of the bagels with some of their fresh creams. Service was also awesome as well: when they had mistakenly burned a croissant for leaving it in too long they just handed over a fresh one with a sincere apology. Will be back and will try the one in phinney too!

My 100th review, Good. But the happy hour from 4pm to 5pm(closing?) is a killer steal. Come at 4 to make sure you get first choices! Some of the cult favorites and trendy treats had already been selected since it was Sunday. I ordered the mini melon pan with cream but ate my husband’s double chocolate almond croissant. I like their baked goods because they are not overwhelmingly sweet and not dry even at the end of the evening. We ordered some more croissants to go at the end. Both ladies working were sweet and courteous with customers. Even while closing and after a long day. Something that really stood out about this bakery was that they have a Brita filled with filtered water for you to pour for yourself. If only most places would do that! Also, make sure to enjoy the ballard farmers market right outside on Sunday’s!

This coffee shop/bakery looks more attractive from the outside than from the inside. Those metal bistro tables and chairs outside caught my attention and the cappuccino was not that bad. The pastry rum, though, was overcooked and dry. I should have gotten some of those French size macarons(they have in different flavors and I really like they are not huge like in other places, macarons are supposed to be charming, not only sweet and tasty!). The place is clean and neat, but the coffee shop atmosphere is lost with so many young Asian students just having more virtual than real conversations. Everybody glued to their laptops and phones, this kill the possibility of human interaction that you could imagine from outside.
