Holy cow. I have been trying to get reservations there for 3 months because I had a gift card for what was Book Bindery and Hommage was honoring them but I guess that won’t be the case. Seems strange that they would go out of business when they were so busy we couldn’t get in. I will keep my fingers crossed that these same folks will have another restaurant that I can get into and use this giftcard. please…

I have been going to Hommage for over 10 month, and I can say this is by far my favorite restaurant in Seattle. The food is simply awesome. Dishes are complex, subtle, artistic, and seasonal. The cuisine is inspired and surprising. The service is friendly and relaxed(beware, this is French cuisine, so you’ll have to take your time to enjoy it). Finally, it is so cheap for the quality of the food you get. I mean you can keep your dinner under $ 40/person is you want to, or you can splurge for $ 100/person(chef tasting menu+wine pairing). My favorite dishes are the salmon(saumon) with the 35-min egg, and whatever the chef cooks with mushrooms. Also, keep some room for dessert, as they are well worth it.

When I was trying to find a place to take my fiancée for her birthday, I turned to a Seattle chef friend of mine for recommendations. Among the list for the price point I was looking for was Hommage. I took a look at their website and was impressed by the vibe it gave off. Upon arriving there on a Friday night, I found they were attached to a winery with a fantastic view of a lake. All signs pointed positive. Once we entered, we encountered positive customer service and a décor that I can only describe as «grandma’s house» without all the tacky chotchkies around. It was comfortable, elegant and not too pretention. We elected to have the Chef do his bidding on us and from the opening corn bisque to the closing dessert(a four layered pudding like affair with a name that absolutely escapes me but a flavor profile that I can only seem to relate to people as «yum»), we were treated to an experience. The wait staff were relaxed, conversational and professional. Each course as it was served to us was an adventure to which I had never been treated before and we discovered progressively that placing our stomach’s happiness in the Chef’s hands was one of the better ideas I had that night(aside from actually going there). As an intro to French cuisine, I feel that I have been spoiled entirely. We left quite full with a full tour of flavors on our pallet. Hands down, one of the best dining experiences I have had in a good long while.

When I was booking Hommage for my sister-in-law’s birthday, I decided to look at the area beforehand on Google map because I was a bit worried about finding street parking in this area. Luckily I did so because I was able to see what the building looks like. But my friend, who just got the address and used her GPS to drive there, was a bit confused and she kept circling around the block 5 times but didn’t know where it was, cause they have no big visible sign that actually reads«Hommage». So I strongly suggest looking it up on Google map like I did! But despite that fact, this place is like a gem of French food. Very spacious and romantic ambience. They have a wine tasting room in the front, you enter to the bar area and then dining. They also have the upstairs but I haven’t checked it out, definitely will try to next time. They have big windows looking out to the water, the place is very romantic /semi-vintage decorated. The service flow is a bit slower than what I’m used to. We ordered sparkling wine, Noix de Saint Jacques(seared sea scallops, coconut cauliflower purée, star anise caramel), Foie Gras Torchon (confit duck liver rolled in caramelized nuts with pomegranate syrup & seeds), Canard (seared duck breast, glazed beet & rutabega, blood orange & duck jus), Saumon(cold smoked king salmon, 35-minute poached egg, our vodka crème fraîche), then we had Chocolat (creamy chocolate mousse, bitter chocolate sorbet, dulce de leche) for dessert. Every one of these dishes was delicious to perfection. the seared duck breast and scallops were not overcooked, the duck breast came with extra duck sauce. The salmon was soft. The dessert dish was served with marshmallows, their marshmallow was not super sweet like the ones you buy at the store, it was a little plain so it pairs perfectly with the chocolate mousse. I like how every time they bring out a dish, they explain perfectly what it is and not just saying its name(cause lets be honest, we don’t all speak french). We had one waitress and several people helped us out throughout our dinner. They were all very friendly and easy to work with. Every time you leave the table, you’d come back to your napkin neatly folded on the table next to your plate. Definitely want to come back and try more stuff on the menu and some cocktails. This is a great place for group outing and for date night love birds! They have some free parking in the front and on the side of the building & also on 3rd Ave close by.

This was truly an exceptional experience. 4 of us visited and enjoyed the tasting menu, which was truly an unique experience to enlighten the palate. I don’t believe that I have had food quite like this in Seattle, very fresh, very innovative, with lovely meat and veggie dishes with unique flourishes to sate the soul. The duck/blood orange/beet dish, all of the legume dishes, and the lamb were highlights. The chocolate mousse dessert was incredible. Really every dish was worth the effort, and we left thoroughly happy. Kudos to the patrons! A fantastic experience.

I came here with my family of 5 for my parents anniversary. Hommage treated us wonderfully. They served us champagne for our celebration and had a great guest bartender. I had the garlic soup which was delicious and the lamb which was exquisite. To end the meal we shared their chocolat dessert which featured an amazing dulce de leche ice cream — simply amazing!

We came here for a nice Date night. I was very impressed with the food and French style. I recommend trying the Duck it was delish! I also recommend trying a few of the menu items and sharing. There are so many great dishes to taste and explore your palett. We Tried the potatoes with the Leek purée it was amazing all the componets on the dish and seperatly taste awesome! The mousse desert was sweet and rich but not over the top. Just the right amount of both. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They educated on the menu and walk you through the components on each dish as well as flavors. They are there to answer any questions you may have. I cant wait to go back and try more of what Hommage has to offer!

We visited Book Bindery once and while the food was good, weren’t impressed with the service, so Hommage was on our list, but we weren’t in a hurry. We should have been. We finally made it on a Saturday night. The food was amazing. We had an early reservation and when I walked in, wearing jeans, my first thought was that I was under dressed. As the night progressed, I quickly realized the early crowd was overdresses. Hommage is like the perfect little neighborhood bistro, where you can get cozy and enjoy some amazing cooking. We basically has the entire Legumes menu minus the beets, as I can’t stand beets, and the Foie Gras Torchon. Every bite was heavenly. The chestnut soup was perhaps my favorite, but the salsifi was a close second. We had a little mishap with our cheese plate being delivered to the wrong table, but they quickly made it up to us, ending our meal on a high note! We’ll be back many, many times!

Beet and endive appetizers were pretty good but I’d say definitely pass and go for the chestnut soup. I’d also say try the soda. They were so tasty I’d rather have them over the wine. Not that the wine wasn’t good too.

I came here for valentines day dinner. This place is cute. 70% of their seating was in a normal dining area, and the remaining is in this green house like part of the restaurant. I wanted to like this place more, but I really feel like it did not live up to a valentines day prix fixe menu type of dinner, especially for how much they were charging. $ 80pp. Maybe their normal menu is better? 1) Beets purée over shaved ice. Honestly, it was too much of it and I don’t wanna eat that much purée. 2) Foie Gras. There were two pieces of it. It was so heavy/rich. I wish there was something to eat it with! The pomegranate on the side was probably a palette cleanser, but I enjoyed eating that more. 3) scallop crudo — this was good, but very small portion of it. I love scallops. 4) halibut cheeks — the coconut cauliflower purée it was sitting in was very interesting! This was pretty good 5) pork tourte — this was not bad either. 6) pistachio cake was just ok. There was some pistachio butter on the plate and it was not sweet at all. Did not want to eat it with the rest of everything. 7) Also got a drink, which the server offered to have the bartender just whip me up something off the menu since I didn’t see anything omg. Ended up being a pretty good cocktail at $ 12 of course. The meal overall was fine, nice place, but I really just didn’t enjoy all the courses as much as I expected to. Also portions were just ok for me and I’m not a huge eater. I felt bad for the boyfriend because I’m pretty sure it did not fill him up at all. For $ 200+ vday dinner for two, I really wish Hommage stepped it a couple notches. I still gave it a 3 because at least the place was nice and my company was great :)

Went here for my friend’s birthday and we had a tasting menu. The food was exceptional and they had perfectly paired wines. Weeks later I’m still trying to get back here even though it’s totally out of the way. Highlights from our feast: Butter(I think it was a trio of butters?) — yes. do it. you will love life. Julia Child would be proud. Betterave — I love beets. I love horseradish. There’s nothing about this I don’t love. Saumon — wow. This was the perfect combination of savory, rich but not heavy, crispy, and gooey. If I could eat this right now I would. Canard — the duck is cooked perfectly and the flavor is amazing. Tarte Tatin — a beautiful twist on a classic apple dessert. This is one of my new Seattle faves and I WILL be back.

I love the holiday spirit, I love giving, but I hate Christmas in the traditional sense. It’s so stressful! So my boyfriend and I spend the holidays with family and then on Boxing Day(Dec 26th) we pick a nice spot to spend with each other and just enjoy the fact that the holidays are over. Yay! This year we invited another couple to partake in our little tradition and we all agreed that Hommage was the place to eat a meal that would help wrap up an amazing year. Since we also booked tickets to a show we made an early reservation for 5pm. Good thing too because we were the only table there for a good 15 mins and it was awesome to have the place to ourselves. I recommend doing this if you want extra special service. Being quiet and having just opened their doors for the evening, our table got the full attention of the staff and first choice on the specials. In fact, there was a red snapper dish(as in just one available all night) and we nabbed it up. It was cooked whole and came with an incredible orange glaze that the chef came out to de-bone, serve up and pour himself. There were also sunchokes and pickled veggies with the dish. Again, since it was a little quiet that early in the evening, we got the added bonus of learning the story of how that dish came to be, why it’s the only fish they bought to prepare that evening, etc. It’s a lot to explain here but the moral of the story is that there is a ton of thought that goes into every menu item, even if it’s a limited item! And that same theme of thoughtfulness was carried through in each subsequent dish, in the décor of the space, in the music, and so on. If you’d been to the space before when it was Book Bindery it’s similar but different enough in so many ways that you need to come back. I liked Book Bindery very much but Hommage really blew my socks off. From the butter to the cheeses, the fresh breads, to the wine list and every single item we ordered(which felt like half the menu!) nothing was less than perfect. Unlike previous experiences, this time we sat in the covered/heated patio area along the water. It was romantic and gorgeous and quiet. Just perfect! We also spied a table behind us that was having their extremely snazzy wine decanted before they arrived. Nice touch! Whether it’s for a special occasion or not, Hommage is reasonably priced. You can go nuts and order everything but you can also sit at the bar or eat light and spend a really, really reasonable amount of money. All told we spent less than we would have spent at Book Bindery and the food was better. Im glad we came here for Boxing Day to de-stress but it will certainly not be another year before we come back. See you again soon, Hommage — you’re lovely.

I would find it difficult not to 5 star the new Hommage. The food was undeniably exceptional – with creative culinary twists and artistic presentation. Our party of 6 had several courses, and the wine pairings, –each delightful. The food quickly moved Hommage to my top pick in Seattle, but the service is what made it outstanding. The personal touch and interaction from the staff made this place. We will be back again and again.

We had a double date dinner here a few weeks ago and were blown away by the great service and food. Our friend is has a gluten allergy and they were very gracious in pointing out all of the items that are gluten-free and how they could modify the items that weren’t gluten-free. To start, we had the Panisses, which were essentially chickpea fritters fried to a perfect crisp. It was a great savory start to the meal. Of course, we did not miss out on the reinterpretation of the beets and goat cheese dish Betterave. The horseradish element in the dish made one of the best we had all night. The Carotte dish was intriguing as I couldn’t decide whether or not I enjoyed the taste of hay. But it was good enough to keep trying. We rounded out the first courses with the cold smoked Saumon which was another highlight. We ordered a bevy of main dishes to share and were pleased with them all. The one that stood out the most was the duck and I enjoyed fall fruit accompaniment. What really put this meal over the top was the chocolate mousse dessert with chocolate sorbet. I loved the different temperatures and textures in the dessert. They also have a solid barkeep for cocktails and an amazing wine list. Ask to be seated in the greenhouse and when it stays light out longer into the night, it will make for a beautiful setting.

After two months since opening, I had already read good things about Hommage so I decided to give it a go. The building is unassumingly set back from Nickerson St, tucked away near the edge of the canal. The space itself is neat and open. Every staff member was very friendly and courteous throughout, and our server was especially helpful in navigating the menu. To start, our waiter recommend the beets(Bettlerave) which come with rye tuiles(crackers of sorts) and a surprisingly well-pairing horseradish cream in addition to the carrots(Carrote) which were described as ‘a rabbit running through a field’. After being cooked sousvide with hay, the carrots were served in rabbit jus with hay tuiles — and they were outstanding! For the mains, we had the poached cod with bok choy and the duck with root vegetables. The cod was nice, but the duck really stood out. Served in its own jus and medium rare, the flavors and textures were very nice. We finished the meal with the pain perdu, a surprisingly light french toast served with ‘milk jam’ and vanilla ice cream, as well as the chocolat, dark chocolate gelato covered in a chocolate mousse served with chocolate tuile. Both were outstanding and may have been the highlight of the meal! It was a very good experience on all aspects — ambiance and décor, wait staff, food. Definitely recommend for a nice date or small group outing!

Truly, as close to a perfect dinner as I’ve had in a long, long time. What often happens: appetizers are great, mains are meh and I skip dessert. Here, nothing failed us, from wine at the bar to the picking up coats. Betterave: I usually find them boring(goat cheese+beets=ZZZ). Here they get proper treatment with rye tuiles and horseradish cream and affirm that other kitchens have been slacking. Panisses: I’ve never met a panisse I didn’t like, and this one with peach barbecue sauce makes me think I should start making my own barbecue sauce. Cabillaud: Japanese in style, French in execution, I would like a thermos of the dashi with ginger confit that accompanied this perfectly poached cod. Canard: perfect. Chocolat & Tarte Tatin: not a big dessert person, but my dining companion is. These two could sway me to the sweeter side. Yes it’s splurge-worthy, but I’d like to just hang out on a week night at the lovely marble-topped bar with some of the excellent butter and bread and a glass of wine. I get the idea that this would be alright, because the genuinely friendly folks here make it one of the warmest spots in Seattle.

I flew out to Seattle for a 48 hour trip. The top of my priority list was visiting Hommage because I’ve heard of the magic that Ryan Suh and Chef Niko had created together… and they did not disappoint! It was a true magical experience. The ambiance, décor, choice of music, the wonderful staff, their attire, wine selection, and of course, THEHEAVENLYCUISINE!!! It was a beautifully orchestrated symphony. Everyone took their time to make sure that we were comfortable and had everything that we could possibly need. And as each course came out, they walked us through each dish. Educating us on the harvest and the reasoning for the combination of ingredients. There was definitely blood, sweat and tears in every step of creating every part of Hommage. My favorite dish were the 35min poached egg, topped with smoked salmon and also the DUCK. OMGTHEDUCK. The best duck I’ve ever had in my life. I came back to NYC this week and raved to all my friends of the experience. We all are salivating and dreaming of a trip back to Hommage… and of course Seattle. Thank you again for the surreal dining experience Hommage.

For all of Seattle’s excellent restaurants, there are only a handful of chefs doing truly innovative things. Nico Borzee is one of them. The entire experience of dining at Hommage is simultaneously incredibly Portlandia and mindblowingly good. Each dish is complex enough in terms of flavors and textures that there is real depth to each bite, but not overdone in the sense that you can still appreciate the nuances of each component. It has been said already, but the corn soup, carrots, beets, salmon, scallops and chocolate three ways are to die for.

On a «getaway from kids» evening out we were searching for something new and unique and found this newly opened little gem on the ship canal, south side of Fremont. A «must eat» for foodies and eaters alike. From the moment I called to make a reservation(reserve early) and was greeted so warmly by Ryan I knew this was going to be a memorable experience. The décor is detailed, fresh, and a bit of elegant and modern french country. The menu is wonderfully eclectic and creative but not to the point of being inapproachable(if you know what I mean). We opted to have a chef’s choice tasting to be sure we had the opportunity to try the crème de la crème. Our favs: The beets(caramelized and perfectly tender) served wonderfully balanced with horseradish cream. Carrots(yes, carrots– best we have ever had) braised in hay(yes, mooo– hay from the farm) and served with a rabbit jus. wow, and we are NOT vegetarians. More favs: The monkfish(so tender and meaty) and the veal stew(comfort food, ahhhhh) are not to miss. LOVED the puff pastry on top of the veal stew, a bit of pot pie flashback(but not the microwave kind:)). Ok, just a few more favs: DESSERT. Do NOT go home with out it. The Nougat(I call it Man Candy, like a Peason’s nut roll but fresh and wonderful) and the Chocolat, an amazing mound of bitter and sweet with just the right amount of salt. Oh and don’t forget the coffee– served(BRAVO) right at the same time as our dessert. Our bartender, Shadduck, was an stellar mixologist and paired perfectly some wines to balance our meal and leave us feeling like a part of the family. As we understand it, the menu will change daily based on what is fresh and available. We had the opportunity to ask lots of questions and create a little learning experience for ourselves at this special new restaurant. Can’t wait to go back!

I had dinner here a couple of days back. As I was sad to see Book Bindery close its doors, I am glad to see it reopen as Hommage with its teal walls and Home feel bookcases filled with pickled goods and books. I’ve met Nico previously at a restaurant he worked at before this and his cooking skills blew me away. I have no doubts that this place will grow to be as loved as Book Bindery and even more so by patrons in the area. On to the food: Beurre– butter, cultured, country bread Corn– warm corn soup, caramelized popped corn kernels(3 types!), espelette chilli Bread was soft but could have been warmed(i’m a warm bread person) but was a perfect opener. Was served with the Warm corn soup, Made my insides happy. Betterrave– beets glazed in its own jus, concord grapes, horseradish cream Took my love for beets on a new level, beets were balanced perfectly with the horseradish cream, the final touch was the crispy thin cracker like thing that made a very well rounded appetizer Pâté de Lapin– rabbit pâté, foiegras, house red wine onion marmalade I loved this. definately one of the more flavorful pates I had, good thing we had extra bread from our other order! super satisfying Panisses– fried chickpea batter with apricot barbaque sauce. Tasted like a super yum vegetarian nugget: D the bbq sauce was sweet and savory a perfect compliment Saumon– cold smoked, 35 minute poachd egg, house vodka crème fraîche This was probably one of the best bird nest concept dishes I’ve ever had. I enjoyed cutting the egg in half and trying to have it all in one bite. this dish was inhaled within 5 minutes. Coquilles St Jacques– searced callops, clams, douglas fir tagliatelle Although the noodles were a bit salty on thier own, they were perfectly complimented by the perfectly seared sweet scallops and clams. I loved putting them together for each bite, good reminder of seattle in my mouth Squab– braised in red wine, fresh figs, potato purée Squab was tender, potato purée was a fluffy air whimsical pairing. Enjoyed those together very much. Tarte Tatin– caramelized apple tart, calvados caramel. This wasnt too sweet and was a perfect way to end the meal. paired well with my cocktail :) Drinks were very pleasant. I must say cocktail wise, the drinks here hit my tastebuds out of the ball park. Shattuck has done a great job putting a cocktail menu together! I’m really excited to come back and to try more drinks. My sister tried the Pink matter– vodka, cranberry, ginger and lime I had the Cazerac– calvados peychauds, sugar and absinthe. we both had a drink as well that wasnt on the menu at the time. that drink was to die for. I’m always on the search of a great place to eat and drink, Hommage is a different experience on a different level. The marriage of flavors, texture and parings with a great drink, I’m for sure wanting to come back to see how they grow.(Saving last star for that!) The food had a lot of flavors that hit home for me, some with room for growth. I want to say that the food was a 3.8−4 right now, but I am sure it will surpass a five very soon. Drinks were an easy 4.5(didn’t have time to try many drinks!) I am very impressed by the opening of this place, the hospitality, the foods and drinks. Opening a new place is always quite the feat, especially at this location. I know this place will continue to grow and foster amazing meals ahead in my future. I am glad to taste it from the beginning.
