Hotel Max

The room I was given was incredibly tiny. One side of the hotel is situated next to an alley way which has constant traffic, beeping, etc. the rooms are not soundproofed, I could hear the tv from the room next door clearly. My room came with a record player and sub pop records to play. Half of the records were missing or put I the wrong sleeves, and the actual record player cover was broken. The tv channels above 60 did not work.

I don’t understand the bad reviews, other than except to say clearly they’ve taken them to heart because this place is awesome.
I have no idea what I paid (it was booked for a work trip). But I had a lovely stay.
Super friendly staff, free happy hour in the evenings, and coffee in the mornings. Comfortable rooms and EXCELLENT room service from the restaurant next door.

Overall, our experience was good and we received great customer service from a very friendly staff.

*10^th floor was bomb and we got an excellent view of the city
*the shampoo, conditioner and soap were all natural and were actually amazing
*FREE complimentary beer /​wine everyday from 5:30– 6:30 (social hour), complimentary coffee in the morning, and infused fruit water throughout the day

*Tiny elevators– as in threes a crowd, but really not a big deal
*our first room we walked into was layered in dust, as if it had not been touched in months
They will probably suggest biscuit bitch for breakfast, but I’d recommend you save your time and appetite for something else.

Hotel Max exceeded my expectations. The lobby is saturated in awesome, from the very friendly employees to the free craft beer at happy hour. What the rooms lack in space, they make up for in colorful functionality and cleanliness. The room service Bloody Marys were among the best I’d had. Miller’s Guild got only okay reviews on Unilocal,but we hit it up for brunch anyway and we were SO pleasantly surprised. Everything was top-​notch. We had an an unrivaled experience here and will definitely come back. If you’re looking for a cool home base to sleep & lounge in while you explore Seattle, I highly recommend Hotel Max.

Good location, clean rooms, awesome service, hot water, good water pressure, plenty of nice standard hotel towels and free internet service. Bed was very nice and the pillows, comforters made for a great night sleep. They have a cool lobby with games, coffee, free bubble gum (to stick on the gum wall, which is a 10 minute walk from the hotel), and free craft brew at 5:30pm. My biggest complaint: The rooms are VERY small for the price. In fact, in all my travels (Asia, Europe), this hotel is the smallest room and is the main reason for my 3 star review. And the bathrooms. OMG! If your a large person or claustrophobic, the bathroom may be a problem. Parking: They charge $ 45. for in-​out valet. Right across the street is a lot which charges $ 27. Go check it out before dishing out $ 45 fee plus tips everytime the car is brought to you. With that being said, once you’re parked, Lyft or Über is a reliable and inexpensive way to get around town without having to deal with parking.

Stayed here for a Mother’s Day pampering. Staff is super friendly great location to Pike Place market AND they even have a beer on tap free happy hour in the lobby with board games! Rooms are a bit small but hey it is the city.

Our flight got in on the earlier side, so we called the hotel the morning of asking if we could check in early. Of course, they couldn’t promise anything over the phone, but when we arrived at the hotel our room was all ready!
The rooms are on the smaller side, but we didn’t mind. You should be out exploring the city anyway! Perfect location to be in. Walking distance to Pike’s Place & Space Needle. About a 10 minute drive to Cap Hill and 15 minutes to Ballad/​Fremont.
I recommend staying at Hotel Max next time you’re visiting Seattle. Friendly and accommodating staff, perfect location, and clean rooms.

This hotel is awesome! We were arriving earlier in the morning, so I reached out to the hotel via FB about a week prior to see if we would be able to check into the hotel early. They replied saying they would make note and do their best to have a room ready– I told them we couldn’t wait to celebrate our anniversary there & the little bit extra of their help would be great.
It was about a 20 – 30 minute drive from SeaTac, which was great. We arrived around 1030/​11am, and thankfully we had a room ready. The front desk staff was great– so friendly and welcoming to my boyfriend and I! When we got into our room, a bottle of champagne was chilling with some chocolate and a sweet note. Such a great way to start our week.
We had a rental car, and their valet/​car attendants were so nice and friendly. They all remembered our names by the first/​second day. We really appreciated how friendly they were, and recommendations for things to do in the area. It was worth the $ 45/​night charge.
Overall, we had a great time at Hotel Max! The only reason it gets a 4 star review is for 2 things:
— The shower is TINY.
— The A/​C unit is loud.
We would definitely stay here again!

A modern boutique style hotel. The rooms are very small… smaller than I thought. This includes the bathroom. If you don’t like the shower curtain to touch you then pick a different hotel. Shower is very narrow but water pressure was great. Bed was comfy and I liked that I could pick a different pillow style from the pillow menus if I wanted. The elevators are also very tiny. If you have large luggage or lots of it then this hotel will be a challenge.

I’ve never hugged a hotel employee before. I’ve been tempted to slap them before, but Hotel Max is the only hotel where I’ve felt the need to hug someone because they went above and beyond for no reason. Every interaction with hotel staff left me with a goofy ass smile on my face and a sense of being the most important person in the room even though I’m «just Kyle».
I arrived late on a Saturday afternoon, towards the end of free local beer happy hour. That’s right: the Max, upon proof of your temporary residence via your key card, will give you a free beer from a local brewery. Why is this not a thing everywhere?! Take notes, Sheraton!
There were a bunch of people down in the lobby happily obliging in the generosity of the hotel, but my check-​in process still went seamlessly. The gentleman behind the counter encouraged me to grab a beer before I headed up to drop off my luggage, but I declined because I was in a rush. However, when I returned from dropping my luggage off, the bartender, who was removing the keg and cleaning up caught me and handed me the beer he poured for me and said something to the effect of «I was hoping to catch you before you left!» Rushing be damned; when a person pours you a beer you savior that shit.
What kinda awesome customer service witchcraft is this? A preemptive beer? Before I asked and before you even knew I was returning? That’s the kinda shit that wins repeat customers. I know all you non-​beer drinkers may not be impressed by my anecdote, but I wasn’t impressed necessarily by the beer, but rather by the spirit of cooperation and thoughtfulness of the staff working together to make sure a guest was satisfied. My only question is does the bartender think I’m an assface because I didn’t tip him? (Don’t judge me — I didn’t have any cash yet and I was on my way to the ATM).
The hotel is dripping style. From the ornamental drums in the lobby to the multicolored rugs and individual door art on my floor, I was constantly impressed by the the flair. If you’re a troubled artist looking for a hotel to overdose in, you probably couldn’t make a cooler choice.
There are a few trade-​offs with the Max, though, the most noticeable of which is size. The elevator is tiny as hell, and can get uncomfortable real quick. They do have cool sayings in there to distract you from the person coughing on you who may or may not have Zika. The shower is similar to showering in a coffin so lather up to squeeze in. However, the Max was half the price of the Westin, so the smaller rooms are actually a bargain.
Great price and great people make the Max my new favorite hotel.

This is by far my favorite hotel ever! I travel for work constantly and having a fun affordable place to stay in a cool city is hard to come by. Staff is by far ¹⁰⁄₁₀! And the free happy hour with local craft beer? That’s just the perfect treat after a long day on the road.
Ps– you can even «rent» a record player for your room!!! WHAT?!? SO AWESOME

Observations: walkable to a ton of stuff, attached resto seems quite popular on its own, elevators are tiny. Would definitely stay here again.

Hotel Max is in a really good location and we were able to walk/​über to anywhere we wanted to go. The hotel lobby is really nice and every day they have a complimentary happy hour– we took full advantage. The rooms are really small but worked for us. The front desk staff are super friendly.
The terrible part for us was housekeeping. During my first shower we had a half used bottle of shampoo and had to request more so that we could both shower. We’ve been here for two nights and have yet to have our room cleaned (made beds) and we have to continually ask for towels/​shampoo. With this kind of service, I’m wondering how clean the hotel actually is…
This is considered an Expedia VIP hotel and I don’t feel like we’ve gotten any type of VIP treatment. I am going to also share my feedback with Expedia.
We are planning to extend our stay in the city but I can guarantee you it will not be here.

A good deal on a hip hotel in downtown Seattle — we got 4 nights for the price of 3. Although it’s in an old building, Hotel Max has done what it can to update and class it up. Although for sure a unique, hipster place, it wasn’t too over the top. The rooms are very small and the bathrooms even smaller — but everything was clean and the smallness was well advertised to us before we showed up. The staff was VERY friendly and we liked the coffee in the morning and beer reception in the afternoons. The location is prime — you can walk to almost everything in downtown and easily Über everywhere else.

I spend 30 – 50 nights a year in marriott courtyard /​residence inn type properties that cater to jetlagged laptop-​tethered road warrior zombies who just need a clean and comfy space to crash out. I’m also old and uncool enough to be way out of the target demographic for Hotel Max and boutique properties in general.
That said, Max was fantastic. Very good price/​value ratio, fantastic location and all of the hip shiny kids (I’m old enough to call them kids I think …) working there were uniformly professional, friendly and super competent. Not a single iota of attitude or snobbery that I’ve sometimes seen at businesses trying hard for the arty/​hipster/​boutique demographic.
The craft beer hour is great on it’s own but better for what I saw it enable among guests. During the beer hour in the lobby I saw at least 3 distinct groups of total strangers come together to play Jenga or Connect-​4 together in the lobby while sipping great beer from pint glasses. The games continued after the keg was put away. In a decade plus of biz travel and hotel stays I’ve NEVER seen such nice and friendly interactions among strangers in a hotel lobby. In my usual hotel haunts I’d rarely speak to another hotel guest let alone challenge someone to a Jenga match …
This is Unilocal so I have to complain about something — the rooms will feel small if you only visit chain hotel properties. The renovated building does not have central HVAC (at least on my floor) so they use window-​mounted combination AC/​Heater units that make a bit of noise and let in some ambient sounds from the street. Trivial complaints really relative to what the hotel has to offer.
Does Hotel Max have a rewards program I can transfer 550,000 marriot rewards points into? heh.

On my Über ride to the hotel I just happened to read the first couple reviews of the place since I already knew I would be staying here.
The first review came up and it was my buddy Ruggy J, giving the place 2 stars and rambling on about how it was so strange that in the rooms the showers and bathrooms were in separate rooms.
«How odd» I thought, after we had checked in and I threw myself down on the comfy bed. On our 9^th floor room with a cool view of downtown, the toilet was for sure in the same room as the shower. It was not until much later I found out there are some rooms on the lower floors that are smaller and have the said showers separate from the toilets, I had to laugh.
So tip number 1: Get yourself a room on the 9^th floor. It is an old boutique hotel, so the rooms will not be big, but at least you can poop and shower in the same bathroom. You will also have a cool view of the surrounding buildings in the area.
Tip number 2: Every afternoon from 5:30 to 6:30 take advantage of the free beer happy hour. Chat it up with you hosts in the ultra hip lobby as they pour you local beers on the house. Im serious about chatting it up with the hosts, not only were they great people, they are very knowledgable with the city and will gladly give you advice and point you in the direction of whatever your interests are. Also, keep them talking and they will keep the beers coming.
Tip number 3: Every day you you opt out on having them clean your room, they give you $ 5 credit towards the honor bar in your room. How rad is that?
Overall, I really did enjoy my stay here. Very cool and hip look that constantly reminds you that you are not staying at a stale corporate giant. A nice comfortable lobby/​lounge to hang out in that contains a small Nirvana museum. The restaurant, Millers Guild, is actually really good too.
The place is pretty central to most tourist attractions as well. A must stay especially if its your first time in this city.

I don’t usually stay at boutique hotels (I guess I like standardization and expectations of chain hotels) but the boyfriend really only likes boutiques. We were not even sure where to stay when in Seattle but Hotel Max kept popping up as the first or second suggestion so we ended up booking here (and also after consulting with friends who had recently visited and stayed at this hotel).
Location is fabulous! We could easily get Ubers or walk to the monorail station, and even down to Pike’s Place. We were here for 4 nights, so that really helped us out. We checked in no problem, and grabbed our bags to enter a very cozy elevator. It held 2 people with luggage. I thought it was cute there was a little doggie dish for visiting pooches. Each room has a different art image, some nudies, but we had scissors. We knew the rooms were going to be small (such irony, Hotel MAX), and no surprise, the room was the king bed, a small desk, a window AC unit, small closet and a small bathroom. It was very red too.
I took advantage of the pillow bar. I thought that was so cool that we could order various pillows for our comfort. I was not disappointed. The beds were VERY comfortable and spacious.
As others mentioned, the craft beer happy hour is a nice touch and we were able to enjoy some great beers.
I would stay here again, despite the size. It met our needs and the location can’t be beat.

We were in Seattle for pleasure and couldn’t have asked for a better location to stay. We took the monorail from the airport and could walk to this hotel with our luggage! Any staff we came in contact with was friendly and the décor is super trendy! We also liked the artistry on all the doors. A nice change from run of the mill hotels, which are also nice.
We had a corner king room and yes, as other reviews note, they are small and so are the restrooms but sufficient for just the two of us.
The craft beer nightly socials are a great touch. We enjoy trying local brews and meeting new people which is exactly what we did.

Cool boutique hotel on the smaller scale. 3.5 stars is about right. Really wanted to but didn’t get a chance to partake in their craft beer happy hour — show your room key for free beer from 5:30 — 6:30pm. Solid wifi. Indie punk rock motif.
Decent location, a couple blocks from the westlake station. A decent walk to Pike Place. I took the train shuttle from SeaTac to the last stop and was hoping to walk a couple blocks here but the GPS on my phone couldn’t find the location so I ended up ubering here instead. #firstworldproblems
Another #firstworldproblem is that while in my penthouse suite (10^th floor), the window mounted air conditioner unit was so loud I couldn’t hear the tv unless if it was blasting. Good view of the courthouse and of people going to work in the morning. (

When I’m staying in a hotel in a cosmopolitan (hate that word but… can’t think of a proper synonym) area, there are three main things I want:
1) Location
2) Location
3) Location
Once that’s out of the way, I want:
1) Fair price
2) Fair price
3) Fair price
Once that’s taken care of, I move on to:
1) Charm
2) Charm
3) Charm
I’m happy to report that Hotel Max has all three, and then some
I don’t really care about how big/​small rooms are in hotels. Cut that sucker in half and charge me half and I’d be a happy sleeper. The quarters here are a bit tight, but the space is so charming it doesn’t much matter.
The attached restaurant was very good and reminds me of «Ironforge» in World of Warcraft.
Pinebox is close by, one of my favorite beer bars in town.
This will be at the top of my list the next time I’m in Seattle!

A much better stay the second time around. I think having a normal sized bathroom really helped the situation, especially since I didn’t have to contort myself to get in to the shower.
I arrived early and Vivian at the front desk let me know that my room wasn’t ready. She stored my baggage and offered to text me when it was available. As promised, I got my alert letting me know I could check-​in a few hours later and the process was a breeze. She’s pretty awesome if the hotel management is reading this!
While I was waiting for a friend outside, two different valets and people working there asked if I needed anything or directions to my next point of travel. I didn’t, but appreciated being asked.
This is still my choice hotel while staying in the city. It’s central to pretty much everything, they offer free beer in the afternoon and their wifi makes streaming and downloading flicks to your iPad before heading to the airport a cinch. Best of all, that perk is free to use as a guest. I also love that standard check-​out time is at noon. If you’re looking to do some early morning activities before you leave, it’s nice to know you have that extra time to come back and freshen up before heading to your next destination.
I’ll for sure be back the next time I’m in the Emerald City!
