A superb clinician and surgeon. I am a medical school professor. I received recommendations from colleagues for 3 spinal surgeons and visited all 3 for evaluation for surgery in the lumbar spine. I chose Dr Houston not only because of his reported technical acumen, but also because I liked the way that he thought and reasoned, logically, thoughtfully. His explanations were superb. We ended the visit with his conclusion that surgery could help my pain and be a big step toward restoration of the quality of my life. He did not *push* surgery, though. After evaluating my options, I decided to go with Dr Houston, to have the surgery, and to go with the approach outlined by Dr Houston. The surgery, at NW Hospital, went very well. I liked Dr. Houston’s pleasant and low key manner, his logic, and his reputation. He is a neurosurgeon from one of the best programs – Emory – and then he did a spine fellowship there as well. A great physician!
