History

Established in 2009.

Founder Juliette had an idea for a business that would lower real and perceived barriers to urban cycling, primarily for women. Juliette took the idea to business school, where she met now business partner Aldan, and developed the idea into a retail concept that included products for men as well as women. Doors opened at the shop in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood in spring 2010.

Juliette is the founder of Hub and Bespoke. Juliette has worked in product development for twenty years; initially in sportswear apparel design and then home textile products. Born of a French mother Juliette was taught early the importance of a beautiful presentation for all that was mundane. It must be pleasing to the eye as well as functional. It is this sensibility that informs her approach to design: elegant solutions for everyday needs. She believes that design must reach beyond form and gather in purpose to guide the product development process; always asking «for what good?» With Hub and Bespoke Juliette hopes to: (a) curate a collection of elegant solutions and products that entices others to overcome perceived or real barriers to getting on their bikes, and (b) simplify the decision to take to two wheels.

Quality. Classy. Stylish. Expensive.
You can pick up something here that you’ll have for years and years to come.
The owner is extremely welcoming and makes you feel at home.
I love the big giant step to the top level.
The prices are extremely expensive compare to many places… but you pay for what you get… here you’ll get clothes that make you look amazing with fabrics that feel amazing. I wish there were more clothes that were for sizes 12⁄14 or XL sizes.
This is the type of store you’ll want to introduce your cool bicycling friends to… they’ll be impressed!

Just bought two pairs of long pants that I wanted to use to commute and not look like a race boy. Ended up with Swrve and can’t be happier with the product and the service I received from the girl working today. Very helpful and not pushy. I’ll be back.

Bicycling is wonderful, but there are three terrible things that can befall a cyclist:
1) getting in a crash
2) getting your bike stolen
3) getting accessories stolen off your bike.
Last week I was a victim of number 3 (damn you, Capitol Hill!). So when I needed a new bike light that would be so awesome I would never forget to take it off of my ride, I headed to Hub and Bespoke. Their variety of lights was great, and Juliette, one of the shop owners, was incredibly helpful in finding me a light that would be long-​lasting, bright, safe, and svelte. Juliette also clearly knows her stuff regarding her wares and the Seattle bike scene; we commiserated over bicycle thievery, how the Burke-​Gilman can get creepily dark, and the uphill-​both-​ways nature of riding on Bainbridge Island.
The Australian designed LED I walked out with was a gem, and with easy on-​off access, I’m determined to make sure this one doesn’t get stolen! Though I wouldn’t mind having an excuse to go back to Hub and Bespoke soon.

If you didn’t know you were in Fremont, you would think you are on the left bank in Paris. It’s a charming store with fun things to make you look less of a REI advertisement and more of an individual. If the former store is function, this store adds whimsy to the mix. I wanted to buy so many things there, but ended up the some great gloves and a ridiculous cover for my otherwise unimpressive bike helmet. Don’t have to own a bicycle to find something here.

Sexy, sexy bike shop.
This well selected little shop is a feast for your bicycle-​loving eyes. As a long time bike commuter prior to my now much more car-​requiring career, I can definitely appreciate how stylish and functional the wares in her shop are for the utility cyclist. Bike friendly clothes and bags, panniers, and even art. While a little pricey, I may save up to grab something special– I can tell everything is of incredibly high quality.

Are you looking for cycling gear that doesn’t make you look like a crossing guard? Give Hub and Bespoke a try. The shop is full of bike apparel that is functional, stylish, and quality. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and are willing to go the extra kilometer to help you out. I went in once for a specific color and style of the Bern helmet, but they were currently out. They offered to special order it and call me when it came in. In two days I got a call that the helmet was ready to pick up. Helmets off to their customer service. I will definitely be back.

I’ve been curious about this swanky little shop since I first spotted it several months ago. It’s clearly a bike store, but is it for gear? Clothing? Accessories? Yes, yes, and yes.
Our year-​old son’s helmet is still a little big for him, so we dropped in during the Solstice Festival to see if they had some options for him. They didn’t, but they did have enough fun and functional gear to keep us browsing for nearly half an hour.
Their mission is to help people «overcoming the common barriers to urban cycling,» and they carry the usual cycling chic suspects like Alchemy Goods, Swerve, Knog, and Bern. But they also feature a variety of unique and handmade cycling clothing and accouterments, plus a selection of cycle inspired objets d’art.
The gentleman behind the counter greeted us warmly and apologized that they didn’t have any helmets for our little guy, and made pleasant small talk that seemed genuinely engaging instead of trying to spur a purchase.
Or maybe that’s his tactic, because I did feel a little guilty for not buying something when we left! Either way, it’s certainly not my last visit.

I got a Bern helmet here. Bern is THE reason I came — I do not have the discretionary income to validate beautiful, hip, elegant, vintage looking but modern wearing cyclist paraphernalia (unless I decide I really want it. Bern.), but when leather saddle bags, spotted tights, and natural cotton net gloves haunt my dreams, I’ll be back.
The employee (I’m guessing ‘owner’) that I met was very kind, informative, and helpful. She told me how to pick the right size and when I got paranoid due to that information, she literally put them on my head for me and helped me adjust the straps (while I watched) on the one I (we) chose. (no snark. rented expertise is a fine thing.)
Yay for Hub and Bespoke! Yay for my new helmet! Yay for being able to fly by a cop without fear!

I wouldn’t have expected such a well put together boutique for cycling clothing — albeit urban cycling! I stumbled upon this shop after enjoying a pastrami sandwich at Royal Grinders and was enamored by all the outfits that were lined up at the back of the boutique. They do a beautiful job arranging pieces from helmet down to the rubber covers for the heels! Many unique pieces to marvel at — like a handmade reflective vest all done with 3M material. I most enjoyed the customer service that I found there. No pressure, just helpful. I will be back to shop without my just too inquisitive dog by my side.

I love this store. Most bike shops sell utilitarian and/​or high tech goods for bike riders. Hub & Bespoke does not sell bikes, but sells clothing and accessories for bike riders that are impossible to find elsewhere. Some of the things they carry are utilitarian and high tech but with a classy bent, other items are cool in an almost steampunk way. I’ve bought a pair of biking slacks that I wear at my office job and gets many compliments, a snazzy helmet, and a fantastic canvas sidebag. The proprietress knows her stuff and is proud of her wares, and the store is definitely worth a special trip. Alas, Hub & Bespoke does not sell online, but that’s okay because I love visiting Fremont. Street parking is easy to come by during the day, but you’re riding your bike there, right?

This is an amazing store. Such a cool vibe. In Portland, where we have a ton of cycling-​oriented places, this shop would still stand out as completely AWESOME. They have original, locally crafted products that are artful and unique. Love it. Wish it were here.

Great boutique in easy to get to location in Fremont– right near Habitude.
Juliette has done a fantastic job with this store– it’s bright and well-​merchandised with functional and fashionable cylcling wear. Stunning chandelier as you walk in, rich wood floors add great character. She has picked her vendors with great care, and has a great knack for what people want and need when riding.
The walls have wonderful artwork with a whimsical style– perfect for any cyclist. I bought a great sweater that while it could be worn cycling, doesn’t have to be.
If you haven’t paid a visit yet, do so! There are a lot of great accessories from stylish messenger bags, hand knit gloves to one of a kind bike lights. Eco-​friendly and fun to shop.

My husband and I — avid cyclists — were both charmed by Hub & Bespoke. There is a good selection of clothing meant to make cyclists both feel and look good, both on their way and at destination. It is a very well-​curated shop.
We tried on a lot of different items and we were unfortunately not very successful, but the woman working there was really helpful and patient with us. If I lived in the area I would have ordered some of their custom-​tailored pants. Maybe when I return!

This is a great shop. Great! The owner told my husband that an item he had tried on was only so-​so on him. As a result, I trust their advice completely. ! And as you know, it’s rare to be able to trust a salesperson.
Items are pricey but the idea is that they will last a good long time, saving customers $ in the end.
I’d give them 5-​stars if I could understand the clothing arrangements a bit better (without help), and if the return policy made it easier to make a purchase, especially as a gift. (store credit only, and you have SEVEN days to make a return. eep! That would only work in Europe.) …but really, Hub & Bespoke is tru love.

Stopped in a few weeks ago upon recommendation of another bike shop in Ballard. They had what the Ballard shop said they might have and the owner was extremely helpful and patient with us as we browsed and chatted for awhile. They carry some nice clothing for those wanting to look dapper on a bike. They have some awesome shoes that look like some retro high tops but with a cutout for bike cleats on the bottom, sweet!

I stopped in today right after they opened on a Saturday. A quick glance around the shop showed a well-​edited selection of attractive biking gear for men and women.
The woman who helped me seemed to be the owner, or at least someone who has the authority to choose items and order them for the store. She and I had a very personalized and helpful conversation about helmets without me feeling like she was giving me the «hard sell.» She just seemed happy to be talking about helmets. (this is neither here nor there, but she also has an amazingly cute dog with a great skull sweater.)
I ended up buying a helmet there which (although I didn’t tell her) I had looked at in several shops and online, mainly because she was so helpful and friendly. I have a giant head for a woman, apparently, because this is the only helmet I can find that 1. fits me (and it’s a man’s XL!!) and 2. doesn’t make me look like I am about to take off in the space shuttle. The price was good, too — this particular helmet goes for anywhere from $ 60 – 70 in different shops and online, and she was selling it for $ 60.
I also picked up a pair of inexpensive gloves, and the helpful woman adjusted the strap on my new helmet and gave me a little biking pep talk (I haven’t actually purchased my bike yet) while a very well-​dressed young man ran my credit card and handled the sale. I will definitely be back after I purchase my bike (2 weeks! I promise!) whenever I need gear.
