Through In The Groove DJ Academy you will be exposed to Seattle’s leaders of the industry as they share their expertise with you. Our sole purpose is to equip you with the knowledge you need to succeed in the fast paced, competitive world of DJ’ing and entertainment. You can go at your own pace by purchasing single classes, or be a intensive learner by becoming DJ Certified where you will gain all the knowledge you’ll need to become the DJ you have always wanted to be. It’s up to you.

We will be your gateway into the world of DJ’ing by giving you the skills, confidence, knowledge of equipiment, how to produce, market yourself, and perform a successful live show. We will provide you with many options, allow you to customize your program, as well as help you find the right career path for you. We are committed to you achieving excellence.

History

Established in 2010.

The idea of In The Groove DJ Academy was founded by Michael Smith who is also the owner of In The Groove Events, Seattle/Portland’s Premier Mobile DJ Company. He has traveled across the world DJ’ing as well as held residences in the Greek Islands. With over 13 years of experience, he decided it was time to share his expert knowledge with people that want to gain the skills and what it takes to become a successful DJ. There is nothing else like this in Seattle, we are very happy to be the first!

As one of Seattle’s most popular and respected figures in dance music, Mike Check has been in the industry since 1998. He sets the standard for mixing prowess and dance floor domination. Michael Smith, aka Mike Check, has the ability to appeal to diverse crowds with his exceptional mixing from his extensive music library. Having 13 years+ experience as a professional DJ to his credit, Mike Check has played with some of the industry’s biggest acts. Mike has worked as the DJ manager for one of the most cutting edge salon’s in the Northwest, where he has amassed a crew of the area’s most talented. Mike regularly spins around the Seattle area and has also traveled the country to play in the hottest clubs and electrifying music festivals. He has held multiple summer residencies at nightclubs in the Greek islands as well.
