I have driven by this restaurant a number of times and have been meaning to stop in. I notice there’s no Unilocal entry yet for this place, nor is there a Google Maps listing, as it has only been in soft opening mode for the past month and a half. The origins of this cuisine is Yemeni, in North Africa, and the restaurant is a family run business. Very family run, as the host was the younger son of the owner(s), the chef and maybe a group of aunts/relatives/sisters. The stewed goat meat with a rice and garden side salad was out of sight. Just the right blend of spices, tender, and fresh. The prices were roughly $ 10 to $ 11/platter. You can request to order a large family style platter to share with your table(the traditional Yemen custom is to eat with your hands). As we sat there for our meal, I noticed a large table turnover and constant flow of customers who all spoke Arabic. You know it’s the real deal here! This area truly reflects the diversity of the local neighborhood, which I appreciate. Friendly staff, and very small — there were 5 tables when we walked in. They’re planning a grand opening for some time in the near future, once the menu and ambiance are sorted out. Meanwhile, I’m going to enjoy stopping by here before the word gets out!
