Dawn at the front desk is really great. She’s always been extremely helpful, knowledgeable and quick to respond to any inquiry. Scheduling was easy and fast.

I finally had to leave after the shock of Dr.Dr. Hackett finally wore off. Dr. Martin is very professional and for most people probably a top notch dentist. I really liked the staff as they were friendly and pleasant to interact with.
My issue stemmed form an incident where on the beginning of Memorial Day I woke with excruciating pain in a molar with a crown. I knew this pain and knew I needed a root canal. Also knowing this was the worst time to try and see a dentist I raided the medicine cabinet and tried everything I could over the counter to ease the pain. On Saturday when I couldn’t take it anymore I reluctantly called Dr. Martin’s emergency line to ask for somethign stronger to get me through until Tuesday. Even though I told him nothing I tried worked for the pain he told me to continue taking Advil and that is all he could do for me. I never wanted to be in the situation to ask for pain pills over the phone but I knew it was my last resort. I just don’t feel Dr. Martin was there for me when I needed it most. Fortunately a friend had something to help me out, and sure enough I needed an emergency root canal first thing Tuesday morning.
The second issues is, unlike Dr. Hackett approach where she preferred to «under-​dentist» Dr. Martin kept recommending preventative procedures that would end up costing me thousands of dollars overall, including crowing teeth with perfectly fine fillings (this from a second opinion) that some day «may» fail. I have been in this situation in the past with dentists, and I don’t believe he has nefarious intentions, I just prefer a dentist who treats me based on need and not potential need.
All in all Dr. Martin is a fine dentist, just not the right dentist for me.

I’m such a huge fan of Dr. Martin and the team at Keystone Dental. Have been going for almost a year and have really appreciated their friendly, efficient, and professional service.
It took me a really long time to find a dentist that I felt comfortable with, so I appreciate so much about my experience from the start. They are always clear about my costs and answer my questions clearly. I never feel like I cannot get information or alternative. They definitely take a preventative care model, which I really appreciate. As they have made recommendations about what I should do, they were clear about procedures that were urgent, important, and optional. The bedside manor is off the charts great!
I’ve recommended Keystone Dental to colleagues and friends and will continue to do so.

I have a very extensive dental history, involving years of painful procedures and multiple surgeries. For those reasons, I’ve continued to see the same dentist 45 miles away that I have seen since my first tooth (30+ years ago), rather than finding someone new, despite having moved to Seattle years ago. I finally made the leap and went with Keystone Dental, and I am thoroughly impressed!
Danielle gave me the most comprehensive, gentle and respectful exam and cleaning I have ever had. Dr. Martin was also kind and gentle. I needed a cavity filled and they even squeezed me in to fix it that same visit. It was the first time I’ve ever received the numbing shot for dental work without the shot itself causing a lot of pain.
If you are looking for a professional, well-​run dental office with compassionate, skilled hygienists and dentist, this is the place!

It was my first dentist appointment in 5 years and I get very anxious at any doctor or dentist offices. The entire team was amazing and made the experience relaxing and Danielle made some jokes to keep me at ease. I had a great experience and I would definitely recommend them ! I was a big fan of Dr. Hackett’s and I’m pleased to say that Dr. Martin has a very similar style. After two or three cleaning appointments, they suggested that I have four fillings replaced. Since the fillings were more than 30 years old, that seemed quite reasonable.
Because of Dr. Martin’s work at the University of Washington, he knows a great deal about the latest techniques, and I was amazed at how quick and painless the filling replacements were. The new «paint on» fillings are so much better than the old stuff that used to get jammed into your tooth! So, three cheers for Dr. Martin and his staff.

I’d like to start by saying that everyone at the office is very friendly, courteous and professional. The hygienist who cleaned my teeth a number of times was great, and all of my interactions with staff were great. However the issue I have with this dentist is major.
I had one cavity in childhood from braces, and two small ones in college because, let’s be honest, I did not take great care of my teeth at that point. Overall I had a very healthy mouth with few issues. Until, apparently, my last visit to Dr. Martin’s office. I was told I needed all the fillings in my mouth replaced (most of which were done LESS than 2 years ago. I needed sealants on two molars, and fillings on two more molars. I was skeptical and very upset. The staff was very nice though and assured me I would be in good hands.
However, I decided to seek out a second opinion – with a history of a healthy mouth I couldn’t believe there was that much decay and risk of decay so quickly. Lo and Behold I had a full exam done by another dentist and he found NOTHING. Zippo, Zero, Zilch, that needed to be done. Some of my fillings from two years ago were not the best craftsmanship, but there was no decay, no cavities, nothing threatening to the health of my mouth.
So be aware, if you choose to use this dentist, his practices are very «aggressive». Trust your instinct and don’t have a lot of unnecessary and painful work done if it doesn’t seem right to you. Get a second opinion and/​or a less aggressive dentist. Your teeth will thank you for it in the long run.

I’m a white knuckler when it comes to going to the dentist. Dr. Martin and his staff are so good at putting you at ease. He’s also THE dentist to go to for cosmetic needs. His work is beautiful.

I was referred a few years ago to Dr. Hackett and am glad to say I like Dr. Martin just as much!

Awesome!!! I used DREAD going to the dentist. Not anymore. They are wonderful, and practice really GREAT preventative dentistry.

I was a patient of Heidi Hackett’s for 2 years before Dr. Michael Martin took over and I must say the transition was about as smooth as anyone could have ever hoped. Dr. Martin and his staff are nothing short of awesome; completely satisfied with the thoroughness I experienced with my check up. Highly recommended.

So yesterday, February 27 was my first visit to the «new» Keystone Dental owned and operated by Dr Michael Martin. His manners and that of his staff was identical to his predecessor, Heidi Hackett. So far so good, his practice at approx 6 months in seems to be a worthy succession to Heidi’s quality, sensitive and thoughtful care. Give them a shot. My opinion is if he keeps it up, he will also be a «best dentist» rating in Seattle Mag like Heidi was.

It’s true that Heidi Hackett sold her practice to Dr. Michael Martin. After being a patient of Heidi’s for something like 15 years, I was skeptical enough to see another dentist before visiting Dr. Martin. I have a fair bit of anxiety when it comes to dentists and also hoped to find a practice closer to my home. In the end I went to Dr. Martin because the other dentist I saw does not offer any sedation for patients with anxiety.
I was pleasantly surprised with my visit. I had two small fillings done and an exam to look at future treatments that might be needed. Dr. Martin was very clear, friendly, and thorough, and I didn’t feel his treatment plan was overly aggressive. The truth is that Heidi was very hands-​off and in some cases I think she may have let stuff go that might be better to take care of.
My procedure was pain-​free and fast. The hygienist who assisted Dr. Martin, Antonia, was also very friendly and professional. A couple of days after my visit — on a Saturday — Dr. Martin called me personally to ensure I was comfortable and happy with the experience.
I was sad to see Heidi go but I think Dr. Martin is a worthy successor and would recommend his practice highly. I’ll definitely continue to see him. Give him a chance, guys!

They should change the name of Keystone Dental because it no longer belongs to Dr. Heidi Hackett. She sold this practice to Dr. Michael Martin. I had my first visit with him and he was very defensive when I asked why he was recommending a proceedure that Dr. Hackett did not. I am so sorry that she has decided not to practice anymore, I didn’t like my experience with Dr. Martin, and I am looking for a new dentist.

Dr. Hackett is simply wonderful. Very gentle, thorough and made me feel very comfortable on my first visit. I had a severe dental phobia, always panicked before my appointments and feared going to the dentist, until now! I have had some terrible dental experiences, and so happy to say I no longer have to worry about any of that. She is the best dentist I have ever seen!

Now I would NEVER call going to a dentist a fun experience, but it truly helps matters when the dental office is filled with very kind and polite humans, including Dr. Hackett who is one of the most pleasant and calming person you will ever meet, trying to make to experience as good as they can.
Simply put, one of the best dentists, and dental offices, out there.

I was SO excited to go to the dentist after reading these Unilocal reviews! Crazy, right? Excited for the DENTIST?!
My last dentist told me that I had receding gums or something, and that I needed to get them cleaned with lasers. LASERS!
So I skipped on out of there and found Dr. Hackett six months later, thanks to Unilocal.
When I asked Dr. Hackett about this, she inspected my gums, suggested using a softer toothbrush, and said «You don’t have anything to worry about; trust me, I would tell you if I did!»
Fastforward to 2015: Dr. Martin and his team are amazing. I love the fact that can rely on them for the best in dental care and dental advice. They let me know what dental work I need and how soon I need it, or how long I can or should wait, so that I can make informed decisions based on their guidance rather than feeling pressure to do everything as soon as possible. I would not go anywhere else!

Dr. Hackett made my Seattle dentist visits almost fun! She’s warm and cheerful and very, very gentle with my sensitive teeth that don’t take kindly to sharp metal objects. I really appreciate her focus on preventing problems and preserving the natural tooth and her conservative approach towards fillings. No unnecessary fillings here!

Dr. Hackett is without question the best dentist I have ever seen (and I’ve seen a total of five). I have been a patient of Dr. Hackett’s for about 8 months (so I’ve seen her twice for regular cleanings).
Dr. Hackett is extremely sweet and also very thorough. For my first appointment, a routine cleaning and checkup, she performed the teeth cleaning herself. I had never before in my life known a dentist to perform a whole cleaning — I thought they always had their hygienists do cleanings. I’m not sure that she does this all the time, but Dr. Hackett said that since I was a new patient, it gave her a good opportunity to get familiar with my dentition. I was impressed.
Dr. Hackett seems to genuinely care about the oral health of her patients. She gives good and realistic advice, and backs up her advice with good reasoning and examples (e.g., don’t brush your teeth immediately after eating acidic foods like strawberries, because brushing right after eating acidic foods can scrape away surface enamel).
For my second cleaning (a few weeks ago), I was seen primarily by the hygienist, who was gentle and thorough, and then Dr. Hackett performed the checkup at the end (as is standard). She remembered me and my mouth, and even followed-​up on sensitivity on one tooth that I had mentioned to her six months prior.
I cannot recommend Dr. Hackett highly enough. Although I have only had the need to see Dr. Hackett for teeth cleanings and regular checkups, I have no reason to believe that any of her services would be anything less than stellar.

Simply wonderful experience and care! Warm, welcoming staff who aren’t interested in guilt trips, even if it’s due!
