I love that I can always find something fun and cool at this store. It seems these days I’m at a little kid’s birthday party every 4 – 6 weeks, yet, I still can’t get my act together in time to wait around for online orders, so being able to pick something up on the fly and have it wrapped before party time is awesome.
I worked at this store in college, shopped here for friends’ baby gifts for several years, and now I shop here for my own kids. It’s been neat to see the store expand its selections. Whether it’s a belly bank for my nephew, a board game for a friend, or a stuffed Apple Jack for my daughter, I have no problems finding something for someone here and w/​in my budget. The sale racks for clothing are also sweet. I’ve found great deals on things like Patagonia jackets at 50% off.
It’s hard to say if things here are moderate or pricy. Yes, a stuffed toy might be $ 3 cheaper at Bartell’s but not after you pay for the gift bag and tissue paper. Also, I’m willing to pay a few dollars more here, where granted things are packed in, but at least it’s clean and easy to find hidden gems vs. the dusty and messy sales bins at Gap.
I’ve found the staff to always be polite and helpful when I need something. Go and support local business!

Good haircut for my 3 year old however the actual staff of the store are snobby, rude, and unhelpful. I struggled for more than 5 minutes to reach a hat that was up high while two totally uninterested employees looked on, every time I come in here I’m more annoyed with the rudeness.

I will give 2 stars to Haley who does beautiful haircuts. This is our 4^th haircut here and my kid is 19 mos old. When I went in today we were accosted by sales people who explained that the sales rack was an additional 50% off. We found a shirt got to the register. I studied the receipt upon leaving and noticed we only got 29.98% off. When I went back to explain how intentionally deceptive this was, the lady at the register did not apologize nor provide an upscale nordies experience by indulging me, she just kept arguing that I didn’t understand. While they tout themselves as an upscale boutique for kids, their competitors such as Hannah Anderson, crew cuts and peek just across the way actually provide that experience. Will never buy anything from here again…

I am going 3 stars because my son really Likes it. What 6 year old doesn’t love the toy store though?!
It is busy, crammed and expensive. I get that it is a small store in Seattle so I was not expecting to find a good deal but I felt that their markups were a little high. $ 11.99 for Hawks mini figures? I can walk over to Bartell’s and get them for $ 6.99.
I think I would only be back to humor my son.

After extensively researching the best kids salon for baby’s first haircut, I decided on Kids Club (specifically Doreen) because of all the great reviews I read on Unilocal.I was willing to drive into Seattle (from Redmond) and pay whatever I had to, if it meant my daughter got a great haircut, because honestly, I was scared of the alternative.
Big mistake. Huge.
Doreen was okay — not great, and there was nothing about my daughter’s haircut that seemed special. In fact, I hated it. My husband hated it. We both hated it, and we left the salon completely terrified of what we had just done to our daughter — our little princess. It didn’t help that Doreen seemed preoccupied with the little girl next to us. On multiple occasions, she even commented on how adorable she was. Don’t get me wrong, the little girl WAS adorable, but I would have hoped that the woman giving my daughter her first hair cut would concentrate a little more on my daughter, and less on the girl one seat over. And maybe if there weren’t stray hairs in her bangs that were longer than the rest, it wouldn’t seem like it was such a big deal. But there are, so it kinda does.
The working staff of the store were quite unbelievable, and not in a good way. There is a train table in front of the salon, and there were three, maybe four children playing around it. One sales woman walked by, picked up a few trains on the ground three or four feet away, and literally threw them onto the table! Seriously? Did she not see the children standing right there? Did she not realize how dangerous that was? My husband and I looked at one another in horror and ushered our daughter away from the table.
All in all, I was completely disappointed in our visit. There are a ton of kids salons on the Eastside that could probably do the same cut for cheaper, and with much better customer service, so save your gas and your $ 30 (plus tip) and head to… anywhere else.

Not too impressed. I walked in here today and was looked up and down by a sales clerk named Diane. Not in a welcoming way, but in a non discreet snobby way. Seriously? What is this high school? Lots of cool toys and clothes, mostly for girls. They could have a larger boys selection. A little high priced.

I was last minute birthday shopping for 2 nieces and 1 nephew and called a friend for some ideas. My friend called Kid’s Club and asked for some recommendations by age and Alyssa was very helpful. Alyssa pulled some items and had them for me when I went into the store. I picked several of the toys Alyssa picked out and she offered to wrap them. Alyssa is very knowledgeable and I very much appreciate her great service. Also love the fact that the store is locally owned!

I am very disappointed with Kids Club. I bought my daughter a backpack a couple of weeks ago and the stitching is now coming apart on one of the straps. My daughter is a kindergartner and she is not tough on things, they have only been in school for a week. So I called the store to see if I can return it and they could order a new one, and they said store policy is exchange or store credit. The backpack I want is the one we have. They don’t have it in stock. I would like to be credited my money back so I can find the same one at a different store or online. The woman on the phone said no special orders and only store credit. For a place that is so expensive, you would think they would have a better policy, especially if something they sold was faulty. Very unhappy with the attitude of the woman on the phone too. Was not apologetic at all, and just kept saying ‘that is store policy’.

So I’m one of those people who rarely writes reviews, but after buying birthday presents, christmas gifts, etc, once or twice a month here for the last year I feel the need. We moved to the neighborhood a year ago and previously shopped at Izilla, Red Balloon Co., and Top Ten Toys for all our toy needs. And I have to say that even though the store is well stocked for the size, and the staff has always been super friendly I’m always hesitant to go back. Why? Because the staff is SUPER FRIENDLY. I know it sounds like that should be a good thing, however being asked 6 times in the first 10 minutes if I need help just makes me feel hounded. I want to slowly browse and I find myself dodging salespeople the entire time. Saying, «no, I’m not looking for anything in particular, no I don’t need help, no I don’t need anything held at the front.» I’m resigned to paying the mark-​up since it’s usually a last minute gift and it’s the closest thing, but the place positively make me anxious. I’m hoping that someone from the store reads this and lets their employees tone it down a bit, because the store is really well thought out, the employees ARE nice and obviously really do want to help, and it’s convenient.

They have tons of toys of various types and also have clothes (though I didn’t head to that half of the shop). I was able to find some great gifts for my niece and nephew. The staff was not too invasive while I browsed, but I was asked if I needed any help 4 times in under 15 minutes.

This store has the best location for a children’s shop– right next to the playground. It works out that the dh will watch the kids while I cruise the isles of toys, gifts, baby items, clothing ect. They also have a small but great selection of strollers. I love the back wall as it’s chalk full
of ingenious baby items I wish I had with my first 2. The isles are small so if you have a stroller it will be an incredibly tight fit. The staff is friendly and acknowledgeable. I love coming here for dress up and Halloween costumes as they always have great age appropriate items. There is also a children’s salon attached which I haven’t used as I like our children like their hair dressers as their Crossroads location. All in all I usually leave the store with an item I didn’t think I needed but when I found it I so did. Great place to find that perfect birthday or baby shower gift– and they gift wrap!

Great place to pick-​up gifts for children! And there are so many things that you’ll wish you had when you were growing up.
I was approached by two different staff members while browsing, and they were both incredibly friendly. Great customer service, limited (but quality) selection of toys for children of all ages, and convenient location. This is one of those rare occasions where a limited selection is better — less nonsense to pass up to find something truly special for the little person in your life. We ended up with a ladybug kite and a piggy bank crafting/​decorating set for a 5 year old girl. Adorbs!

Awesome store for anything kids-​related. Toys, clothes, accessories, you name it, they have it. Whether it’s educational, purely for fun, or anywhere in between, I found all I needed for my friends’ kids here in about 30 mins. Lego sets, ant farms, cute stuffed animas, clothes, mittens and more! I also browsed the board game section for a bit as some of the games were even good for adults. This is the perfect stop for shopping for anyone between the ages of infant-​adult.

I agree with the other reviews stating that the prices are a little on the high side. However, I haven’t encountered any of the snotty staff. Each time I have visited the store, employees have actually been very helpful. I have bought two Uppababy strollers here — the Cruz and the G-​Lite. The staff answered any questions I had about the strollers. And, the price for each stroller wasn’t much more than I would have paid online.
Last year, I bought ear muffs for my baby to wear during a Husky Game to protect her ears here. II noticed that they have a lot of specialty items for babies and kids like ear muffs that I cannot find at other stores. You would usually have to buy these items online.
Recently, I utilized their hair salon for my daughter’s first haircut. She only needed her bangs cut so the salon was able to fit us in between appointments. The process was seamless. My daughter didn’t cry and her hair was professionally cut. The stylist even gave her bangs a blunt look. I’m not sure what her hair would of looked like if I tried to cut her bangs. It probably would have been disastrous and I would have ended up bringing her here anyways. The bang cut cost $ 8 but I thought it was totally worth it.

I find this shop to be very convenient for items which you otherwise will often need to purchase online.
For example, UppaBaby parts that can be added onto the strollers – they have it. Cloth diapering accessories, such as diaper sprayers and wipes warmers. They’re here! Did you lose your pins/​snappi? Just head on over.
I do like their sales – especially around the time of the village sidewalk sale. But in general, I’m just a fan of the brands that they carry, and the fact that they give a nod to natural parenting products.

This store is rediculously expensive. I love the store and my son goes there to get his haircuts, but the toys there are triple priced!!! and i can’t find any proper explanation! I do not mind $ 2 – 5 more but $ 20 that is crazy.
I am sorry but i guess this is the last time i am shopping there.

I’ve probably been to this store more than any other in UVillage. Even before I had a kid, my friends were having kids, so this was often where I would go for gifts.
Many of the products they sell you can find on-​line or elsewhere for less $$. And their clothing is all higher-​end brands that are over-​priced. However, when you can find something worth buying on the sale rack (they never have as many boy clothes) — it’s totally worth it because the quality is great & the sales prices much more reasonable. These are ALWAYS the clothes my kiddo gets compliments on when he wears them.
They will gift wrap (very nicely I might add) for free if you can wait around a few minutes (the place is always busy, esp. on the weekends-​you can even leave & come back to get the wrapped gift if you need to go do other shopping), which is a huge time-​saver. The people working there are usually pretty busy, but when you can get someone’s attention, they are always nice & helpful.
Finally, our kiddo goes there to get his haircut. Has every cut been great? No. But I attribute that less to a less-​than-​stellar stylist, than to my squirmy kid. Are there less expensive kid salons? Probably. I haven’t done much looking because this is so convenient for us & the kid likes it (he actually asks to get his haircut).
I think the reason I keep supporting this business is because we have spent many a rainy afternoon here, letting our kiddo watch the TV in back, or spending a few too many minutes at the toy train table. So while the prices are a little high & it is sometimes a little crowded, I appreciate the goodwill & service we have had over the 4+ years we’ve been going there.

Deciding what to give this place as a star rating is hard because there’s like three things going on.
1) The salon/​hair place at back. It’s spendy, but they do a great job with my squirmy kid (toys to play with, move fast but not too fast) and he actually enjoys getting his hair cut — so that’s awesome. 4.5 stars.
2) The toys and gear — lots of selection and not mass marketed junk — but very expensive compared to most alternatives. 3 stars
3) The clothing — super cute stuff (esp. if you have a girl) and fun designs, but again, very spendy, and not trendy enough for me to feel like it’s worth it, esp. on a kid who will outgrow things quickly. 3 stars.
So that’s why I end up at 3 stars. I haven’t bought that much from this place given the prices, but we keep going back when we’re at U Village to get my 4-​year old’s hair cut, so A-​OK it is.
I forgot to mention — the bathroom is really nice, esp. if you have a little kid who’s just learning to go. And there’s also an area for nursing moms should you need to take care of your wee babe’s needs.
