Business Owner

Dr. Kyle A. Smits is committed to providing quality, professional dental care to the West Seattle neighborhood and continuing the family dental practice his father, Dr. Paul Smits, started in 1968. Dr. Kyle returned to the northwest in 2010 after graduating from the University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery where he was a member of the Gorgas Odontological Honor Society and the Gamma Pi Delta Prosthodontic Honor Society, and received the International Congress of Oral Implantologists’ award for implant dentistry as a pre-​doctoral student. Prior to attending dental school, Kyle received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Georgetown University in Washington, DC where he was also a member of Georgetown’s highly ranked NCAA division I cross country and track and field teams. Dr. Smits lives in Seattle with his wife and two young children and in his spare time enjoys running, skiing, and the outdoors.

Dr. Smits got me right in for a cleaning and to fix a gap that has been bothering me for years. A dentist I went to previously had performed a more expensive «solution» that didn’t work. Dr. Smits and his office are friendly and courteous. So happy my gap is fixed. Thanks Dr. Smits!!!

When I discovered and went to Dr. Smits for the first time, the Wicked Witch of the Pacific North West of a tooth that had been needing a root canal for well over a year had finally reared its ugly head. I was in extreme and debilitating pain. I made a call to one dental office in west Seattle, which could not help. Upon receiving my call, Dr. Smits’ office staff were compassionate and found a way to immediately accommodate me. I found Dr. Smits to be so kind, sensitive, patient, educational and of the highest honesty and ethics. My tooth was beyond saving, and, while he could have continued to work on me much to his own financial benefit, referred me to another dental surgeon for the further help I needed. After going to him at the last minute in an emergency situation/​last minute, my treatment was not exploited in terms of billing. I have found my dentist! I’m very grateful to him and his exceptional staff.

Kyle Smits and his team are really good. My family and I have been clients here for two years now and have only had great experiences. First, the care is excellent. I didn’t use to think there was a difference between one dental hygienist and another until I went to Smits office. I now think there is. The two hygienists I’ve had in my four or five cleanings have been simply outstanding. Second, the office staff is great. I’ve had several bad experiences with billing type stuff with other dental offices. There’s none of that here. It’s easy scheduling, easy billing, with no weirdness. Third, Smits himself is warm, professional, and I always get the sense that he is telling me exactly what he would tell himself if his teeth were in my condition. We moved forty-​five minutes away from West Seattle about a year ago now and have continued to make the commute for this dentist and his team. They are simply outstanding.

I was impressed by how quick I was checked in. I had a thorough dental cleaning. Later Dr Kyle Smits came in checked out my teeth and recommended few things required to be done on my teeth. I asked them to check with my insurance and they said they would call me after they did. They took care of everything. Everyone was nice and courteous. I will recommend them to anyone who needs a new dentist.
Parking can be an issue but I went during none busy hours so I easily found street parking across from the office.
