So sorry to hear that Lola’s has closed. They had the best bread ever and the cinnamon rolls were just too yum. I guess being a small, family-run operation put limits on the hours they were open(we stopped by on a Sunday once to pick up some of that fab bread and were disappointed to find them closed) and what food choices they could offer(we managed to score some cinnamon rolls as they were coming out of the oven one Saturday morning, but were told that panful was it for the day). I hope the owners, who have had other businesses in Seattle, have moved on to another, equally-tasty, venture. Meanwhile, RIP Lola’s, and thanks for all the happy times I totally over-carbed because of you.

This needs to be your new bakery. We buy a couple of loaves here once or twice per week, and immediately go home to just wolf through one of them while it’s still warm. Today they had a special«cottage bread» which was the craziest looking round loaf with a little hat on top, They explained that in olden times the townfolks would rent out part of the baker’s ovenspace for their own breads, and needed to build them tall to maximaize the loaf per inch. The white sandwich loaf is, bar none, the best bread I have ever tasted. Really. Ever. The olive fugaze is to die for. These guys just can’t make a bad bread. And they’re sweet and helpful and great to have in the neighborhood. So go now. Go often. Keep this bakery is business!

We stopped by on a Saturday just to check this place out. They have a small but good pick of vegetarian deli fare(which can be done vegan), but I would come here for the bread alone! Unfortunately they’re closed on Sundays.

This is a really top-notch bakery, I’m thrilled to have it so close to home! Over several visits, we’ve tried the olive bread(in a beautiful, lattice-like design), the caprese panini, grilled cheese, a variety of cookies(snickerdoodle, chocolate chip, and russian tea cake), and two flavors of the home-made ice-cream(a gorgeous deep dark red berry sorbet and a ridiculously rich and creamy chocolate ice cream). While everything was really good, the olive bread was fantastic. My reaction to the chocolate ice-cream, which my lovely partner was spoon feeding me as I drove down the road, was to murmur«Holy Moly» and beckon for more. The three people we’ve seen working there have all been friendly and helpful. Two nits — I burned my lip on a(really) freshly toasted pine nut that was on top of the green salad(I wasn’t expecting to get singed by a salad, so it was a weird experience), and the caprese panini was a little bland, it could be kicked up with a little balsamic. Give Lola’s a try, you won’t regret it!

Very good! On a Friday mid-afternoon, this place is nearly empty. I ordered a cheese/olive pizza, and my bf had the Vietnamese sandwich(like a Banh mi). The pizza was delightful, hand made dough, great sauce, fresh ingredients. The bf was a little less taken with the sandwich. He said it was«good, but not great». We also sampled some of the homemade ice cream, which was delicious! My only gripe is that I would love to brunch here, and there is nearly no room, so I can imagine the lines.

Wow!!! Is all I have to say, oh my goodness. They have this special bread on Fridays and Saturdays with olives in it and a bit of onions that is out of this world!!! I actually sat in the office and devoured the whole loaf throughout the day. It was like the snack that kept on giving. I had a chance to chat with the owner Russ, who’s a sweet guy and he told me that all of the ingredients were organic. His wife makes the cookies from scratch and the lemon snickerdoodle was absolutely superb. It was actually moist unlike most snickerdoodles I have encountered. I felt really cozy eating my cookie and drinking a big apple juice. It really had this homey feeling that you don’t find at many places in town. I’m really excited to come by for lunch sometime, because their sandwiches sound really good. =) Keep it up!!!

Huh. I’ve been there at least three times and I only just realized it is all vegetarian because of the previous reviewer. It’s not really obvious. I mean they don’t seem to be marketing themselves as a ‘veggie’ place. They’ve only been open since November 1, so I’ll give them a break on that. Seems like they are still figuring out their vibe. It is family owned and run, I think. I’m pretty sure the owner’s daughter is named Lola(her drawings are on the wall). The owners seem really friendly and approachable. It’s great to have them in the neighborhood. I know they used to own a bakery and then decided to open a café, so I immediately went for the baked goods. The breads are awesome, especially the french bread. I had the Vietnamese sandwich(french bread with vegan mayo, jalapenos, carrots, cilantro and tofu) which was pretty good. It didn’t blow my mind or anything. I thought it needed rooster sauce and fish sauce(though I know that would take away its vegan status). The sandwich seemed a bit timid taste-wise for this neighborhood… Hillman City can handle a little spice. The thin crust made-by-hand-while-you-wait pizzas were really great. It takes about 30 minutes to get one as there is only one person working the whole café. But it was definitely worth it. Way better than Tutta Bella down the street. The caramelized onions, walnuts and blue cheese pizza knocked the socks off the tomato sauce, field roast pizza. The red sauce is a quick sauce and it would be better if it was the real simmered-for-hours type. I put in a request for red pepper flakes for the future. I haven’t tried the gelato yet, but that is next on my list. Don’t be afraid to ask for something that isn’t on the menu as they are still figuring a few things out. For example we popped in around breakfast time and asked for a bit of baguette with butter and jam and they accommodated us. Then the person behind us ordered the same thing. Add a big cup of café au lait and you have a french breakfast. Currently they open around 9am and close at 4pm I believe. They are open Monday through Saturday. Hours will probably be modified as things work themselves out. Welcome to the neighborhood Lola’s! It’s nice, convenient and satisfying to have you here.

Wow. A rockin’ pure veggie resturant in the South End of Seattle. Woo frickin’ Hoo! All Vegetarian and Vegan menu with a small but really good menu. I think they’ve been open all of a week in the Hillman/Seward Park/Columbia City neighborhood. Highly recommend is their fresh baked breads, pizzas(especially the Field Roast Pizza and Carmelized Onions Pizza with Blue Cheese) the Vegan Pumpkin Spice cookie and their homemade organic ice cream. OK, I’m a pig and I’ve ate almost the whole menu in a week. Hey, it’s good so sue me. Seating is a bit on the tight side but the family that runs the bakery is super friendly and very accommodating. Run people, run to this new spot… you’ll like it.
