History
Established in 2010.
Luna Sandals was founded by the one and only Barefoot Ted. His story was chronicled in the New York Times bestseller ‘Born To Run’ in which Ted travels to the remote Copper Canyons of Mexico to run an ultra marathon in 2006 with the legendary Tarahumara natives. Ted learned how to make their traditional footwear of choice, the tire huarache, from a new Tarahumaran friend named Manuel Luna, and the rest is history. Ted started sharing his passion for making and using huarache sandals in 2007. Luna Sandals officially became a company in 2010 and we have been growing here in Seattle ever since.
