Since 1982, we have been leading merchants of high end titanium, acetate, gold, wood and buffalo horn. We carry the following designer eyeglasses Chrome Hearts, Lindberg, Mikli, Oliver Peoples’ & Paul Smith, Theo, Anne et Valentin, Dita, Mykita and Face a Face to name a few. Our exclusive designs are procured directly from the eyewear designers, not from name brand copies.

Eyewear is not just about style. It is also about vision and our opticians interpret prescriptions to bring you the perfect lens materials and coatings. We also have optometrists at both of our Seattle locations and repair facilities at all three locations. We carry progressive lenses from Zeiss, Varilux and Shamir. We’ve made a sub-​specialty of high index and progressive (no-​line) bifocals to provide you with simply the thinnest lenses available anywhere.

Ruvane Richman says selling eyeglasses is in his genes. He’s the founder of Market Optical near Seattle’s Pike Place Market, which he started at the age of 23. Today Market Optical has two eyewear stores in Seattle and one in Bellevue.

I went into the shop, where I had bought my (prescription) glasses, to tighten them. As soon as I got them back, I noticed immediately they were way too tight but I failed to comment. The person helping me was not engaging and turned around immediately. After leaving the shop, I wanted to use my glasses and what I feared happened: the leg broke at a place where it cannot be repaired. I will not return to that shop, the client service is poor.

This place has the coolest selection of glasses on the planet and it is located in a beautiful setting… next to the first ever Starbucks in the world, right in the middle of Pike Street Market. I look forward to my travels to Seattle to pick up a pair of glasses. My choice this time was a funky Swedish design that no one around me has ever seen before. The staff is very helpful in suggestions and seems to hit it spot on with selections.

Truly as good as it gets! A spur-​of-​the-​moment purchase of sunglasses turned into an overdue eye exam and several new pairs of glasses! A friendly yet totally professional environment with helpful staff and a good’ish selection of frames. Let me clarify, I certainly found 3 (yes 3!) frames I liked and bought but wish that there were more contemporary and modern frames to choose from. One always wonders where the next funky frame might be! Pricey yes but not OTT, but it is Pike Place and to be expected. The manufacturing of the glasses was done a whole 2 days quicker than they had planned and I was happy as… as we say in Australia. Wish I lived in Seattle so that I could go back in the future.

personally, shopping for frames has been difficult for me. Its not only a challenge to find the «perfect» frame that suits my face (bold cheekbones, bald head, large black beard), but difficult to find an frame shop that has unique designer frames and exceptional service. Having lived in Seattle for over 15 years, Ive purchased frames from several of the local shops. I always considered market optical, but never bothered to take a look as i heard that the frames were expensive. Well, after finding a Bevel frame at a great price online, i went to a couple of the Capitol Hill frame shops to see if they carried this line… but no luck. i gave Market Optical a call and they did in fact carry the Bevel frames i was looking for. I hurried down to pikes market to try them on and knew the minute i looked in the mirror… they were prefect! I thought my budget bubble was going to burst when i looked at the price, but alas… they were priced about 10 $ above the online store, which was surprising as most online stores have you believe you’re getting a crazy bargain. The real deal was at market optical… not only did they have a hard to find frame, but the price was very competitive with online «bargain» frame dealers. PLUS, i have the added advantage of purchasing local and receiving great service from one of Seattle’s premier frame shops. I have since brought my wife here to shop and she received the same great service and a damn sexy pair of sunglasses!

Non-​exsistint customer service. I walked in and said hi to the woman working there and she didn’t say a thing and just looked away. They didn’t have a large selection of frames and the ones they did have were basic. I’d rather spend my money at a place where I’m at least acknowledged.

My mom had gotten glasses here before and told me that they were pricey, but if I found the perfect pair, the price wouldn’t be an issue for me. Unfortunately, I had such a bad experience with the staff, that even if I had found the perfect pair, I wouldn’t spend a dime there. I had called to get an idea where to find them in Pike Place Market and the girl I spoke to tried to direct me based on the location of the 1st or 2nd Starbucks (really? those are pretty rare). After circling the entire market during my lunch hour, we called again and found out that they were on the other side of the street (she hadn’t mentioned that on the phone). When we finally got there, the young man with the bright green glasses not only didn’t apologize for the run around, he actually told me that «you didn’t ask the right question» about how to find them. Wow. I wasn’t the only one favored with his brand of customer service; a man walked in shortly after us and mentioned how busy it was in the Market. Green Glasses said, no not very. The man tried again: lots of people out today. Green Glasses — no, it’s pretty slow. Really? Why not just be courteous? How much would that have hurt him? I did find a pair of glasses that I liked, at more than twice the price of any others I had liked elsewhere. But I didn’t love them enough to have to deal with Green Glasses again. So now I’m spending my money somewhere else and my mom, who was a customer, won’t be back; and how many other people who read this or have experienced Green Glasses’ «charm» will shop somewhere else? I know true customer service is dead, and I think I found the killer…

My husband and I were visiting from LA when we stumbled into Market Optical. They had a small but good selection of frames. The two gentlemen working at the time were helpful and fast. All in all, the in-​store experience was good — wouldn’t say great, but good. And that’s where it ends.
I put a deposit down that day for a pair of frames (a Sunday), told them I would get them my prescription when I got back to LA (I sent it a few days later). They told me from the time I sent in my prescription it would take a week to turn around…
3 weeks later I had to call to find out what was going on. Turns out my glasses were back ordered and wouldn’t be available for several months. Clearly no one was keeping an eye on the order and had I not called, this would have gone on for how knows long… there was also major tude being thrown at me. The only reason I’m giving 2 stars is because the manager did offer to either cancel the order or give me a credit for having to wait so long — which I appreciate. The glasses also came in faster than they originally thought.
HOWEVER, once the glasses came in, they called and asked for my remaining balance and told me they would arrive in 3 business days. But no… I had to call today (Fri) after 5 days and they still wont be here until next Tuesday.
When I called to get tracking they were snobby and rude and said they couldn’t do anything about getting it there any faster. Duh — I don’t expect you to call the truck driver and bribe him to get it here faster. What you should have done was sent it overnight or 3 day, especially after all the delays this has caused AND you should have apologized instead of being condescending and RUDE!
Honestly, I have a luxury retail background and I couldn’t imagine treating my customers with such flippancy. I guess you made the sale and I’m obviously an out of town customer so you aren’t expecting repeating business because clearly this store could give two sh###!

Awesome experience! I went in, met with a super friendly and helpful staff member and got a great pair of glasses. I was expecting to find a pushy salesperson, like I experienced in another location, but found that the person I worked with was just kind, generous, helpful and all without being pushy. A few days later I called in my Rx, and a few days after that (which was faster than what they told me) I got my new specs! I don’t normally write reviews, but I felt compelled to do so for these guys! Thanks!

stopped in back in 2011 just to browse and thought i would take out my frames to see if they could adjust them properly. back then i was wearing versace black rimmed frames (gorgeous but the ears of the frames were too long) my glasses were constantly sliding off my nose, and it was unbearably annoying. i told them my issue with the frames and they heated up the plastic and bent them to help make them sit on my nose just fine. the job they did was AMAZING. i would put my glasses on and they wouldn’t move an inch. it was like they were glued to me and no i didn’t get any headaches or marks around my nose. they even cleaned my lenses for me (she prob saw how dirty they were & wasn’t feeling it lol)
their prices for frames tho are a bit too much & nothing you can’t find elsewhere for less but, my review isn’t for THAT. it’s for the amazing service they provided cause in all my years of wearing glasses i’ve never had them adjusted to fit so perfectly.

Despite having a nice selection of frames, I would not recommend this business. They do not offer copies of your prescription even if you are interested in getting a second pair of glasses through them. I had to get my previous pair of glasses made twice because the lenses were not made correctly. My sunglasses were also made with the wrong prescription. They are also unable to provide repair service for expensive frames purchased through their store. Despite trying to give them repeat business and hoping they fix problems, I will no longer give them my business and I encourage others to look elsewhere, too.

I needed new lenses for a pair of frames previously purchased at Market Optical. Went in at 11am and had the new lenses in the frames by 1pm! Excellent, friendly & knowledgeable staff, I highly recommend.

People in this store are super friendly. I came in with a bouquet of flowers in one hand that I bought from Pike Place just on the other side of the street needing to the bridge/​nose pad of my eyeglasses repaired.
Mind you, I did not buy my Malcom X looking glasses from this shop (while this may have many of the sort) but the staff was super friendly and incredibly courteous in agreeing to replace the nose pad of my glasses for me– lest they fall crookedly on my nose. It took less than 2 minutes and I was in and out with perfectly clean, shiny, and straight new nose pads.

Two reasons to visit Market Optical:
— Dr. Ruggeiro is amazing. I have a high prescription and lots of related issues – she caught problems and referred me to a specialist before things got worse. I also go through 6 month check-​ups with her independant of my specialist. She’s great.
— The staff actually do know what they are doing. They have picked out glasses for me that I would never get myself… and I looked great in them. I don’t think they are snooty at all – just really really good and they know it.
Yes the frames are expensive, but for a reason. They look great and will last you a very long time, and are worth it if you are like me and wear glasses (almost) 24×7. The only reason to not get frames there is if you want throwaway glasses that you plan to lose :).

Nice frames, snooty employees. I took a photo of myself to see what a pair looked like (guess what, I can’t see when I take off my glasses!) A man came over to tell me that information about the frames is removed to prevent it from «leaking» out of the store and photos are not allowed.
I suppose I would come back to shop after my security clearance is upgraded to 11, but until then, I’ll have to take my business anywhere else.
I’m not sure why the photo was so upsetting if all the frame information was removed…

Recently had the pleasure of visiting Seattle with family. My sister’s glasses looked a little crooked on her face. As we were passing Market Optical, I suggested we stop in and request an adjustment. WOW what a great little optical shop. Had a terrific selection of glasses, nice ambiance. My sister asked Travis if he would adjust her glasses which he did with a smile. He then adjusted my sister-in-law’s and my glasses. We all had a nice visit with recommendations about areas in Washington State where I might be interested in relocating to from Florida.
If I had more time to spend in Seattle I would have made arrangements to get some new sunglasses from Market Optical.
