Morsel and Bean

Great local spot for a weekend brunch. I came here with some friends on a Saturday morning around 11AM. There was a line out the door — but that’s to be expected as the food is phenomenal. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with a fried egg on top and a caramel latte — total came out to around $ 12-​$ 14 including tip. Pretty reasonable considering the size of the item — the biscuits and gravy could easily be shared by two people. The biscuit is gigantic — about the size of my hand. There was a very generous serving of gravy on top which made the buttermilk biscuit oh soo delectable.
You can order your biscuit to be sweet or savory — honestly both options looked amazing. I would definitely want to try some of the biscuits with their wide selection of jams.
My only gripe here is that seating is very limited (about 12 seats inside) — so be mindful of that while waiting in line and have a friend stake out some seats ahead of time. There is also a drive thru — which probably runs a bit faster than the line outside — we saw that there were only about 2 – 3 cars in the drive thru line.

Spanish fly. Best breakfast Sando ever. The biscuits are amazing too. Come here and eat everything.

So cute, SUPER friendly and the biscuits ate NO JOKE! SO THICK, soft on the inside and crisp on the outside! MONEY!!!

Love this place! Fantastic service, delicious food, refreshing coffee. Everything you’d like from a breakfast/​brunch place. They are getting really popular now so if it’s your first time, try to come on a weekday to avoid the wait. Enjoy. Let your taste buds dance!

Morsel’s food is absolutely bomb-​ass delicious as all get-​out, but be prepared to wait upwards of 45 minutes for food here. No fault to the staff at all (they have all be extremely friendly, courteous, and helpful) but the size of this restaurant simply cannot meet the demand it gets. When we eat here, I always have a small pre-​breakfast before we leave, because we almost always have to wait on line to order.
If you’re willing to wait, the food is absolutely stellar. When my girlfriend and I come for breakfast we always get three biscuit sandwiches, eat a whole one each, and split the third, because this is one of those places where it feels like you can never get quite enough.

Yes, biscuits are a «thing» in Seattle! And I’m not mad about it.
I came here for lunch with some friends, and have been wanting to try this place for some time! I previously had a buttermilk biscuit with apple butter, so I was excited to try an actual sandwich this time. Although a pretty limited menu, their concoctions and biscuits are out of this world! I opted for the «Fast Break» with eggs, bacon, cheddar, and roasted tomato jam. Our food came our promptly and the flavors molded together really well. I would of liked a little of a kick for the tomato jam as it was just okay for me. Although I didn’t get a latte, there lattes were delicious as well.
Also, be aware that this is a small location, so be prepared to wait, especially if you go for brunch/​snack on a weekend. Definitely visit this location or the one in the U-​district!

Amazing service! The guy at the counter calls customers by name or by some friendly gesture and at the end of each order says, «man, this is your living room let me know if you need anything.»
Be sure to add a fried egg to your order! It’s not on the menu but you can do it!
Kid tip: There are only 2 kid friendly tables in the whole establishment and 1 high chair. Get there early to snag it or you’ll have to make it «to-​go»

A friend and I came here on a Monday afternoon and it was pretty busy. You go in and order your food, and then find a table. The place is small, so I wouldn’t recommend eating here with a large party.
We both ordered the Spanish Fly due to the reviews on Unilocal and it did not disappoint! The biscuits were moist and buttery and the prosciutto and aioli sauce were such a nice compliment to the flavor of the biscuits! When you order, you can choose the type of biscuit you want to get and how you want your eggs to be cooked. I opted for cheese and chive biscuit with scrambled eggs while my friend wanted the buttermilk biscuit and sunny side up egg. You can also asked for pickled jalapenos with your dish too.
We also ordered lattes, and they were pretty good. I like how they create a cute design on top of the cup. I tasted my friend vanilla latte and it was pretty tasty, just slightly sweet.
I would definitely come back!

This place will brighten your day, and I’m talking about awesome staff. I sat to do work from my laptop for about half hour, and was passively casually listening in on the conversation of the staff members– all positively joking with one another and planning vaca days and family stuff– a place to work where they serve awesome biscuits (fast break was good but I’m dying to try the Spanish Fly’s prosciutto and also their melted mountain of cheese that my neighbor ordered) make people smile, and genuinely enjoy their workplace.

I saw pictures of Morsel and Bean and knew I had to come here. The shop is pretty small but you HAVE to come here for the breakfast biscuit sandwiches! They are absolute perfection.
I ordered the Spanish Fly which was prosciutto, egg, manchego cheese, arugula, and a delicious pepper aioli sandwiched between a cheddar chive biscuit. I opted for scrambled eggs instead of the traditional fried egg and it was delicious. The prosciutto was a nice contrast to the egg and went went with the fresh arugula. The pepper aioli was the real star of the Spanish Fly because it added a punch of flavor to an already delicious blend of ingredients. I wanted to savor this sandwich slowly but I couldn’t help but take bite after bite…
The name is quite appropriate because I devoured every single morsel of this breakfast sandwich. I wish I had ordered a latte here because they looked absolutely delicious. Their house made salted caramel syrup looked absolutely amazing. Service was very fast and friendly, despite the long line of patrons. If I’m ever back in Seattle, I will definitely be back for another Spanish Fly and all their other biscuits and jams.

Came in a Saturday morning. The place has its own parking lot which is a bonus in Ballard. Also limited seats inside. Service was quick and pleasant. Had a biscuit with bacon jam. Biscuit was fresh and tasty. Bacon jam gave it ab extra kick off savory. Husband ordered a Sammie and liked it as well. Also tried the hot chocolate. Yum!

Yes it lives up to the hype. The biscuits are pure fluffy buttery crispy goodness. :)
Dividing into 2 categories of biscuit:
1. Sweet
The biscuit was a special (forgot the name) and was topped with a hazelnut cream cheese spread, toasted hazelnuts, and a berry jam. The combo was perfect in that it wasn’t too sweet and had just a touch of tartness from the jam. It was creamy balanced with crispy from the hazelnuts.
2. Savory
The biscuits and gravy is a classic and you just can’t go wrong! The waiter recommended getting it topped with an egg and bacon… just to make it healthier ;) it was the perfect storm of delicious creamy gravy, crispy bacon pieces, an egg, and of course the foundational biscuit. It was definitely heavy and could be shared between 2. I would have liked the egg over easy with a little runny yoke too– perhaps to try next time.
The space is super tiny and doesnt have seats for many people which is the only downside. Great for a single or couple and definitely cute n cozy.

Pretty much the reason we moved to Seattle.
On our first visit, we walked in at 2:55 pm on a Friday and were about to leave when we realized they closed at 3, but the guys behind the counter welcomed us in to their buttermilk biscuit arms. We got some honey butter and maple butter plus a jasmine tea and the rainy afternoon instantly turned into perfection.
We’ve since been back and had the biscuits and gravy and the Spanish Fly. Ordered a plain drip coffee and when I picked it up at the counter, the dude offered me some steamed cinnamon milk to top it off. Uh-​may-​zing. Everyone who we’ve interacted with there has been super friendly and welcoming. The space is small, but the table turnover is also decent (I mean, how long does it take you mow down a delicious warm biscuit).
Probably going to have to create a Mint budget specifically for Morsel…

Spanish Fly Morsel… how I love thee. I’ve been a fan of their University location for awhile and Ballard is a big improvement on space and cleanliness. They would never be able to improve on their killer biscuits and great combinations of flavors so all love to the over easy egg and prosciutto combination that makes my tummy purr.
The folks are fast, friendly and these breakfast delights will get you well into your afternoon without a single hunger pang.
Don’t hang out and work though… way too busy and it is no fun to stand and eat a runny egg.

This is a great breakfast spot w/​actual seating vs the original location. However, that being said, there can be quite a line here, especially on the wknds, so seating is limited. Biscuits are fresh, with a rotating selection. My go to is the spanish fly and they’ve also got selections of coffee, sweet toppings, and biscuits and gravy. Come early during the weekends to avoid the line. Service is efficient and kind.

I wasn’t expecting a breakfast sandwich to be that good!!! I got the Spanish fly on the cheddar and chive biscuit. It’s made with prosciutto, manchego cheese, egg, arugula, and a spicy aioli. Usually sandwiches like that are good because the aioli is good. However EVERY part of this sandwich was AMAZING. The cheese was so flavorful (and I normally don’t even like cheese), the biscuit was perfectly crisp on the outside but soft and flakey on the inside, with perfect hints of the cheddar and chive, the egg was obviously intense yolk porn, the prosciutto was great and added a nice meaty/​salty flavor to the sandwich, and the arugula kept it crisp and crunchy.
I would get this sandwich forever. I hope the Spanish fly sammy exists in heaven.

I don’t like biscuits.
Actually, I thought I didn’t like biscuits, but it appears I’ve never had a good biscuit. Until now.
Not liking biscuits is unusual for someone who covets bread, I know. Like I said, I apparently lacked good biscuits in my life.
Hungry on my first morning in Seattle, I decided to take a chance on Morsel and the Bean. Within walking distance from my AirBnb, the menu sounded good, even if the base of the meal was a biscuit.
This place is popular, but don’t let that deter you. Each time (yes, each) I dined, the line was out the door, but it moved quickly. Staff is extremely friendly, one encouraging us to think of Morsel as our living room.
So impressed with Morsel, I mentioned it to the manfriend upon his arrival in Seattle. Unlike me, he loves biscuits and said we must go posthaste. He was so enamored with the food, I thought he might leave me and run off with a tub of biscuits.
I enjoyed the cheesy biscuit (twice) and the goat. Of the two, the cheesy biscuit was my favorite. Cheese curds, garlic butter, and tomato jam on a biscuit? What’s not to love? Nothing. It’s a perfect concoction. The manfriend got the two egg sandwiches, Fast Break and Spanish Fly, the latter being his favorite. They make 3 different biscuits daily, one is always buttermilk. All are excellent.
In addition to biscuits, they make homemade syrups. While not a coffee fan, I enjoyed one of their seasonal syrups (orange ginger) in an italian soda.
If I lived in the area, this would be my living room. I also would have to resort to wearing elastic pants.

After a long weekend of having my husband out of town for a bachelor party, I was looking forward to Morsel and Bean for breakfast the next day.
I love that they have an option of biscuits you can choose from if you’re getting a breakfast sandwich. I love having options, and I love how fresh all the food was. We also shared a side of sausage gravy which made my breakfast sandwich that much better. Since the biscuit was so big I just took the top half off and used it to dip in the gravy. My chai latte was delicious and all around it was a great place for a quick breakfast. I only hope they offer more options for sandwiches in the future.

My first time here, and it will be the first of many… possibly many dozens…
First impression on walking in: this is a happy, welcoming place. I felt instantly at home in this bright, airy little spot with super nice people behind the counter, great tunes playing, and a big case of fresh biscuits right there by the register. I wanted to climb inside that case.
I got the Goat, the most veggie-​friendly biscuit sandwich, on a buttermilk biscuit with a fried egg added on. It was delicious and filling and beautiful to behold.
The biscuit cooled off more quickly that I might have liked… the goat cheese and cucumbers probably did that.
Also, it was a total mess by bite three or so! Not that this is a bad thing, but I had to choose between eating it with a fork or eating it like a caveman. I chose caveman. Shrug. I have nobody to impress.
I will be back, and that is a fact.

This place is every bit as good as the reviews say.
We got there around 1pm on a Saturday and there was a short line. They were out of cheddar chive biscuits for the day. We shared a figgy piggy, which was the special, and it had braised pork belly with some sort of fig spread. It was sooo good. The pork was so tender and the fig spread had just the right hint of sweetness. We also shared a biscuit with mushroom gravy with a fried egg on top. Loved the strong mushroom flavor.
The good came out fairly quick and they have a small parking lot. Awesome! They also have some really interesting and fun artwork on the walls by local artists. They also have a really tasty homemade hot sauce. Don’t miss it!
