New Town Home Style Deli & Market

By far the best place to get a sandwich in this part of town. Much cheaper and tastier than Subway by far. I usually get an octagon shaped role, with pesto, turkey, havarti and tomato.
The owner Mike is a great guy.

New town is a good little market depending on what you’re needing…
The location and inventory is quite convenient– Not necessarily for a full meal of food, but for those times you’re out of chips, or want a little tortellini salad to go along with your dinner. Coffee is good in the morning as well and lunch sandwiches are pretty good, but neither are made up quickly so be prepared to wait a bit…

For a «hole in the wall» market up the street from my work, New Town is a great place to grab a sandwich at lunch. The «Jeff Special» is delicious!

This place will charge you more than the marked prices if you don’t watch them and check your receipt!

Pretty good for a small specialty upscale market. This is similar to most pricey marts: large wine/​beer selection, good meat/​cheese selection, and a general smattering of drinks/​snacks/​home items. The thing that set this mart apart is it has a decent deli (not always stocked in front) and good, large sandwiches (@ 6.99ish).
They carry a pretty darn good variety of ice-​cream (a lot of Ben&Jerry’s) and cheeses, actually (all three BabyBel options). All-​in-​all, a surprising gem.

Really friendly people here and have a nice selection for a smaller spot. They have a good eye for wine by looking at their selection.

New Town Market is my go-​to neighborhood market in a neighborhood brimming with neighborhood markets. Their best feature is the excellent and sizable wine selection with many reasonably priced regional and international wines and some highly rated (and pricier) options as well. They also have a great deli counter with a good selection of meats and cheeses and sandwich options. My one caveat: the beer selection is underwhelming and overpriced, at least compared to the wine selection.

Great place to pop in if you need something although most people come in for the sandwiches as there is a pretty good sized group of people around lunch time. Beware, this is not the place to go if you are in a hurry. It can be very slow going so plan accordingly.
Not memorable but not terrible.

The panini sandwiches here are so awesome that it makes me sad I will be moving to a different neighborhood soon. They are huge, generously piled with cheeses and meats, and come in interesting and tasty combinations. My favorite is the New Town Special, which has turkey, pepperjack, veggies, and a garlic pesto spread. It’s also cheap at about $ 7 a sandwich considering that the average female can get pretty full on such half a sandwich, so you can save the other half for lunch with a cup of soup.
The staff is also really friendly and nice. I don’t mind waiting a bit for the sandwich since it’s made to order. And there’s a good selection of groceries for those last-​minute food runs.

Went here for lunch, it’s a deli counter at the back of what’s otherwise a pretty standard convenience store. Paninis seem to be the specialty, so I ordered one of the pre-​defined sandwiches from the board. It’s heavily advertised that they’re using Boar’s Head cheese which is pretty good, so I had high hopes.
The sandwich was a bit disappointing. It’s strangely sweet and wasn’t grilled long enough to melt the two paper-​thin slices of cheese I received. It’s clear the guy making the sandwiches does care about the work, but it just doesn’t come through in the end result.
I’ll grant you they’re pretty big for your $ 7, but contrary to the description the place is cash only (for sandwiches at least).

Anyone giving this place 5 stars for their sandwiches is out of their mind. But then again, I have a growing suspicion that Seattle doesn’t know squat about sandwiches.
I actually read some other reviews and was reminded of how slow going everything is here and took a star off. I literally work about 40 ft from this place and the only time I’m convinced to eat here is when it’s really raining.
Oddly, they have empanadas and they’re $ 5 ish. That’s the next thing I’m going in here for and it might be the last. i will request it be put on the sandwich (panini means sandwich) press.

Jen S. pretty much covers it. The panini’s here are the best you’ll find in the neighborhood, however it’s best to hit it in the afternoon or evening when there’s no wait, since they only have one press and it takes a while. The interior or the store is clean and well-​stocked, and the african family that runs it is friendly.

Went for lunch today.
Had a chicken/​bacon/​muenster panini that was literally the size of my face… enough for two meals. The cheese was all melty and they managed not to overcook the bread.
AND it was full of delicious Boar’s Head Meat and Cheese, which is good quality, especially compared to other delis in the area.
One giant sandwich came to 6.50!

This is a mid-​scale convenience store with a well-​sized deli as its centerpiece. The food was average and more easily acquired at a supermarket.
New Town market is in Belltown, so I think some would automatically grant bonus points for being located in a trendy neighborhood. The aisles are crowded with merchandise, as it should be, but the deli counter is not aligned in an intuitive way, causing a group of 6 unrelated deli customers to fill the aisles in an unorganized manner. A simple «line forms here» sign would be handily appreciated.
I was enticed by the prospect of an all-​beef bagel dog and a chicken empanada. I’m not entirely sure where they source these products, but they can’t be made on-​site. Both of my items were, to my surprise, kept in the cold case. When asked if I wanted it hot, the employee just put it in the microwave. My bagel dog was lukewarm at best, while the empanada was about what someone would expect from essentially a microwaved hot pocket.
To be honest, I’m not really sure what all the fuss is about. Sure, you can get a Boar’s Head sandwich. Just like at QFC. Is that the threshold to make something «good»? It almost measures up to a corporate supermarket? I’ve had Boar’s Head products, and they’re good, so I’m sure this place would make a decent sandwich.
To top things off, the service was astonishingly slow. Coupled with waiting for people’s lunches to be warmed in the single microwave by the register, this was a long lunch for a ‘grab and go’.
I can only see this place having appeal if I lived within one square block AND it was open super late for post-​drinking food. Otherwise, I’m not really sure who its audience is aside from the perpetual swell of nearby construction workers.

Boar’s Head Deli. Yeah, this is where you get your good deli meats and cheeses.
This is a great little deli/​shop right on the corner of Cedar and Western. They carry a few quick market items such as pet food, wine, beer, noodles, cleaners, etc.
But what makes this place special is the deli. They have a case of Boar’s head products like buffalo chicken slices, great cheeses and all beef hot dogs.
The extra special thing about this deli is bagel dogs. Great hot dogs in a bagel, empanadas (vegetarian too), and samosas! Perfect food when you don’t know what to have for dinner or need a quick lunch.
The staff is always nice and they are open late with plenty of parking around the street.
