Nurturing Expressions

After my son was born, I had a terrible time breastfeeding. After taking every herbal preparation under the sun and seeing 2 different lactation consultants, I finally found Tracy. She was so knowledgable and had a great energy about her– I felt hopeful about breastfeeding after our meeting for the first time (like I said, nursing got off to a very bad start)
I recommend Tracy to any girlfriend who is pregnant as I wish I had found her sooner ! We will be having a baby girl in March and plan on calling her ahead of time this go around so things can get off to a good start. I saw a couple negative reviews here on Unilocal and cannot imagine how anyone would have a bad experience with her or this company. Honestly, they are fabulous. I feel so lucky to have them in my city

I first went to Nurturing Expressions at the end of December, 2012 when I had my first baby. The birth of my first son resulted in an an emergency C-​section and huge nursing issues. Like most moms, nursing did not come natural to me. I was referred to Nurturing Expressions by a coworker of my husband and from the moment I met Tracy, she supported me all through my breastfeeding journey. Tracy quickly diagnosed my sweet little baby who had lost over a pound after birth and had to be supplemented with formula with a tongue-​tie and helped get us into the specialist to get it fixed. She then taught me how to properly latch, nurse and even burp and soothe my little person who had horrible reflux. I went to her weekly support group meeting for months and actually meet three of my current friends there. Later when I as having more nursing issues, she was right there to help diagnose a further tongue tie and got me into the specialist again without any significant delay. I now have a very healthy and happy almost three year old. When my second baby came along, she helped with latch issues and was always available via cell phone to answer any questions I had or just provide me support. I consider Tracy family and recommend her currently to my own Stroller Strides clients as a safe person to talk to, I have also purchased a pump from the store and found the process extremely easy after my first pump gave out on me. I have read the other Unilocal reviews and have never once had any negative experience with Nurturing Expressions or any of their staff. This is a local business who fully supports new moms during a very difficult transition in their lives. I can’t recommend them enough.

Avoid this place. My wife had to call several times leaving detailed messages before waiting weeks for call back. When you do get a hold of them they offer very little advice and or days to schedule and instead just refer outside lactation consultants. We really could have used help the first few weeks with our newborn and we didn’t get it here. You are much better off just working with a lactation consultant. This place is terribly unprofessional and probably won’t even return your call.

Called them when I was on bed-​rest before delivering my son prematurely. They sent someone out with a hospital grade pump and taught me how to use it the day I was discharged after delivery. When my son was getting discharged from the NICU I called and asked how to return the hospital pump and get the «daily» pump my insurance authorized and they said not to worry they would send someone out to the hospital again!!! They came, collected the rental and showed me all of the new parts to my new pump and congratulated us! I could not believe how amazing their customer service is!!!

We filled out our insurance paperwork beforehand and were in and out the door. They were great and explained everything.

When my daughter was born, it was a scary, exciting, tumultuous time. I was in way over my head just trying to handle each day, and we were having nursing problems to boot. Breastfeeding was very important to me, and before we even left the hospital, I knew we were having troubles. I mentioned that I would like to start pumping to my nurse and she said she would have someone take care of that. A gal from Nurturing Expressions showed up, helped me with all the paperwork, made the whole thing breeze! My insurance only covered a rental pump, and the gal made sure my dr wrote the right prescription to make sure it was 100% covered for the longest time possible. She also showed me AND my partner how to work the pump, which was super important because at that point everything was in one ear, out the other with me. It was super easy, and much needed.
Returning the pump was also very simple, they gave me a courtesy call about a week before my insurance stopped covering the rental, so I was able to just pop in and return it.
Since they had brought the pump to me, I hadn’t seen the great shop until I returned the pump… nursing bras, baby carriers, pump accessories galore. I also discovered they have weekly lactation groups… I’m just bummed I didn’t know about all the great stuff and resources earlier! I just attended my first group today, and was blown away by care and attention shown by the LC running it. I hired an LC to come to my house to help us, and it was $ 120 (well spent, but still… spendy) and I got just as much info for $ 10 at group.
I would recommend any pregnant or nursing mama check this place out asap, especially if breastfeeding is not going so hot.

These guys are the BEST! This was the 2^nd time we’ve used them and both experiences were great. They took a lot of time showing us all of the options for breast pumps and thoroughly explained what our insurance would cover. They even called my insurance company while we were there to verify coverage. We got a really fancy pump and only had to pay a small upgrade fee. To top it off they even have some really nice nursing bras. I would definitely recommend them.

Four years later and this «business» continued to be a big regret. I would say more but they just aren’t worth it.
New moms, look elsewhere for your needs. This place is the worst.

I went to Nurturing Expressions because my insurance would cover a breast pump from them. I found them to be very helpful to a new mom-​to– be with no breast feeding experience. I thought I knew what pump I wanted but the lady explained all my choices and helped me realize what a better pump for me would be. The insurance process was clearly explained. She also helped me get some other things that I didn’t even know existed! Some reviews complained about the customer service but I did not experience that at all.

DO NOT GO to these people. they are rude, lied about what our insurance covers. I would stay far away from them!!!

I will never rent a breast pump again. I do not know the owner, but my bad experience comes from their billing department.
I had an emergency c-​section and I almost died. I spent over 2 months trying to heal from the trauma and trying to care for my preemie. For some reason my medical insurance did not renew despite my effort on filling out the forms. It was Nurturing Expressions who sent me a letter telling me that my insurance rant out and that I would need to return the breast pump.
This startled me as I was supposed to have insurance but perhaps the insurance laws intercepted this continuance. I called the billing department and I asked them to back bill the insurance because I had just resolved my insurance gap. I was yelled at and the girl refused to back bill my insurance. I really needed the breast pump because I have a medical condition that requires me to use a breast pump.
Why would this girl reject money? I returned the breast pump and went to Target to purchase a new one.
Instead of back billing insurance as it was authorized by my insurance, the billing department never billed them. Now I have charges on my credit report.
If only your billing department was nicer to new moms as giving birth and taking care of newborns, healing, and taking care of family is a lot to do. I didn’t need to be yelled at by some young girl. My baby is now 14 months but I didn’t know where to turn because each time I call Nurturing Expressions, the billing department treats me like a criminal.
Can you please get in contact with me? I did my end of the deal. I had no idea that my insurance would lapse as I had already taken care of necessities.

We ordered a breast pump from here using insurance benefits (Premera) and they made it super easy! We paid the $ 40 upgrade fee for the upgraded medela pump. The woman was upfront about the insurance billing which was nice. This is a great option for anyone who wants to purchase a pump through insurance.

I am so thankful for the excellent resource that Nurturing Expressions is for new moms! I called Tracy’s business in a panic this November while my son was less than a week old and was unable to latch. An at home visit wasn’t available that day so I decided to check out the store.
They got me in as soon as possible and her service provided immediate relief. Not only was Tracy knowledgable and highly-​qualified, she also was the confident and calm presence I needed in that stressful time. Tracy and her staff patiently and expertly saw me through the nearly three and a half months that followed which included just about every breastfeeding trial imaginable. I’m so delighted to report that now I am breastfeeding my healthy 6 month old boy with complete ease– something I at one time didn’t think was possible!
I thought the store was a great resource for various items that I needed (or wanted) along the way. I found organic nipple creams, breast shells, nipple shields, nursing tanks and bras, and organic body products. More than that, I really benefitted from the drop in breast feeding group that meets weekly on Tuesdays. It was so encouraging to connect with other moms going through a similar experience and we all benefitted from hearing Tracy answer everyone’s questions. I also brought my son in quite frequently for free weight checks.
In hindsight, I do think it would have been helpful to have Tracy come to my home for a personal consultation. It would have helped me learn how to position myself in my own environment for successful breastfeeding.
I saw in other reviews that people had a negative customer service experience. I always enjoyed interacting with Ebony and Maria and felt that they provided great service.
I would recommend Nurturing Expressions to any new (or not so new!) mom who is struggling with breastfeeding.

Nurturing Expressions is hands down the most helpful baby related service I received. I went into a pain & hormone induced emotional tailspin trying to nurse my baby. Tracey put me on the right track. The ladies at Nurturing Expressions have provided me so much support with breast feeding and baby carrying! I have been in numerous times and plan to go several times more for troubleshooting issues with pumping. I wish I could fully express how much they helped with not only my emotional well-​being, but my relationship with my new son. THANK YOU!!!

I only went to nurturing expressions because they are within network with my insurance company.
I got an electric breast pump on my insurance thanks for Obama care.
I shall return next year for a manual pump which is also covered by my insurance.
As others have written, they can improve on customer service.
A woman who worked at the store on the day I went in was too busy getting me to fill out paperwork.
What I really wanted was a run down of how different non-​hospital grade pumps work, and various options first; then the paperwork.
Anyhow, I got what I went in there for!

As a first-​time mom I had no idea that breastfeeding could be so difficult. The first night home from the hospital was rough and thankfully Tracy was able to visit on short notice. She was able to identify our problems and showed me how to correct them. Her help made all the difference in the world! 3 months later baby is happy and well-​fed. We also rented a baby scale to keep track of baby’s milk intake… the whole rental process was streamlined and cost-​effective.
Highly recommended!

Just got my free breast pump! (Thank you Obamacare!). Peggy and Rebecca were both very helpful and nice. They also offer really great Medela breast pumps that insurance covers.
This is a really cool store that offers basically everything a nursing mother needs.

Intended to purchase a breast pump and left empty handed because the woman working there was unfriendly and acted as though I was putting her out. Having a good attitude/​demeanor is a crucial part of customer service especially when working with new moms.
Also noteworthy, she told me that an upgraded pump was +$ 100 and when I told her I would check out a different provider she told me it would be the same elsewhere which was incorrect… I ended up purchasing the pump from a different provider for a $ 30 upgrade fee.

Tracy is one of the main reasons I breast fed my baby. After having a rough night home from the hospital, I called her office at 9am and they were able to see me at 11 that morning. In my consultation, Tracy discovered my son was not eating and set up a feeding plan to get his weight back up. Thankfully it worked and he is thriving.
I also went to her breastfeeding group weekly, which was a great opportunity to weigh my son and check how much he was consuming. It also was a wonderful place to share with other moms how their experience was going and learn from them.
While in the group Tracy saved me once more. My son was a very slow eater. She put me in touch with Children’s feeding specialists and they diagnosed my son with reflux and that he was unable to suck and swallow. I am thankful that Tracy connected me with them, and attribute my son health to her guidance and help.
I highly recommend Tracy to nursing mothers!

This place is a great resource for all things related to breastfeeding. The staff is super helpful, whether it is for fitting a nursing bra or for hands-​on, one-​on-​one assistance with feeding.
Price-​wise it is a tad on the expensive side. And there was a bit of up-​selling going on… But overall, I was so grateful to have them in the neighborhood. They also offer a room for nursing, pumping, etc if you are in the junction and want the privacy.
