I do not write many reviews, felt compelled to do this one though because of a great experience.
I was in Palace Jewelry & Loan today to preform a I-​594 FFL transfer of a handgun that I was buying off of another gentleman. $ 40 transfer fee is on the upper end but this was the only place in the downtown core that I could find that would do a 594 transfer at all.
The 3 employees working there (A taller guy that did 90% of our transfer, a shorter guy & lady that were showing us things around the store while we waited while we were doing the transfer) were very friendly and helpful. Transfer was pretty seamless (expected for two CPL holders) and after the standard paperwork was done and we got a proceed from NCIS, we were on our way.
I will be back if I ever have to do another transfer downtown!

I have personally dealt with Perry and his staff for over 5 years and found them extremely helpful. The bend over backwards to try to make things work.
As for the negative reviews:
Gosh, they don’t take time to go through their entire inventory with every person who presents them a list of stolen items? How rude. One of the staff likes to meet women at baseball games? Goodness, how hetero of him!
When making your decision about where to shop, go in and decide for yourself, and be a good scientist and throw out the outliers, i.e. the extreme reviews…

So I went in there with jewelry because they advertised they bought or loaned for jewelry. They were all really rude. One of the three or four guys working there was talking about picking up chicks at the Mariners game. They acted like I was a thief and/​or all of my jewelry was fake. They had no way of knowing what quality the diamonds and the gold were. At one point he called my diamond a fake, and I insisted he was wrong. He looked at it again and agreed it was real. When I asked questions they were very rude, and they offered a low amount. I left (as they were snickering practically) and, contrary to what they were muttering as I walked out the door, I got a great deal at the best place I tried. This location, however, was among the worst businesses I’ve ever seen.

Always professional and friendly service from smart and good humor guys, who treat me fairly every time I have dealt with them. Highly recommended.

I have bought various items here — including jewelry and watches and electronics. Every transaction has been smooth and fair and courteous. Very good service.

They price gouge severely on ammo trying to charge $ 11 per box for ammo that’s under $ 5 per box. Also I don’t know if the big guy working there is the owner or not but if you dont know what an iwb holster is or how it works you have absolutely no business selling firearms.

This place has a unique selection of treasures. Palace Loans offer layaway and have always been open to work with me on my purchases. These guys have been a real life saver when I needed to borrow money and went out of their way to increase a loan on an item I already borrowed on.
I recommend Palace Loans as your first stop when looking for that one of a kind item and your only stop for loans.

This is a difficult review to write. Three weeks ago, some poor junkie broke into my car on Western avenue and swiped my book bag. I am a student, and as many of you are aware, the countless hours wasted studying a subject you deplore is worsened if all of your notes, your book, your scientific calculator, and computer are taken from you. I filed a police report immediately after my bag was stolen. Perry, the owner of Palace Jewelry and Loans, decided that it would be best to contact me after looking through the computer. Why did he do this? It was kind in a roundabout manner, but his motives were questionable. This doesn’t lessen the relief of having had my computer returned, because I am grateful that he went through the effort of contacting my employer, but why did he do it? Like any pawn shop employees, they are as shifty and evasive as oiled eels in a bucket, or like tomato seeds under your finger. There is no need to dive into the details. Suffice to say that the experience was unexpected, and the memory of it will serve me well. This review is difficult to write because I was girded for battle. I donned my best bucket and lance. I was going to this store to save a computer that I mistook for a damsel. But, chivalry is not dead. Perry the Profound, Perry the… whatever, stood on his podium behind his ringing talisman, his place of worship, and like a balding Sandra Day O’Connor issued his judgment and handed the computer back to me. The journal of my life for the previous six months were like lead in my hands. It was a part of my life I had abandoned to wolves and brigands. Thank you, Perry. You have done a good thing. If there were a hell, you wouldn’t be there, but be sure the coins are over your eyes when they bury you… just in case.

I’ve never been treated more poorly nor had someone be more offensive than here. The staff was cold, rude and the owner (?) flat out refused to show me and my fiancée a Buddha that was in the window asking me if I was a «member of the Tribe”(meaning Jewish — he was wearing a Yarmulke). When pushed as to why he would not show us the item (which he initially pretended he didn’t know he had or what a Buddha was), he said he would not sell an «Idol» to a member of the Tribe. It was none of his business whether I was Jewish or not. It WAS his business to show and sell items for sale in his shop and not to discriminate as to who he sells what to. I will NEVER step foot in this store (a pawn shop) again. By time I drove by an hour later, the Buddha had been removed from the window. A hideous experience. In the future I will take my business elsewhere… ANYWHERE, but here.

It’s funny when a place has a bad reputation for the wrong reason. This place is one of the few crackhead pawn shops adjacent to the Blade that survived Seattle’s creeping gentrification problem, so I expected the high-​end of seedy pawn shops. What I found was a little more legit, but not by much according to these reviews. So I looked at their stock to see nothing that wasn’t in abundance in other shops. But inquiring about things shows that indeed, these guys aren’t fronting for a mafia, but that they will gouge you at every opportunity they get. I know rates are high for real estate not grandfather claused in Seattle, but damn dude, why wouldn’t somebody go somewhere else? I’ll tell you why, they need a quick cheap appliance in Downtown Seattle and don’t wanna shop, or even compare, prices. Outside of that misinformed idea, avoid like the plague.

I tried to bargain with the guy on a product which he had 4 of – he went and found the brand new item on ebay and then quoted me a price $ 25 higher than that.
I explained that I could purchase the same item, unopened, on ebay for $ 25 less than his offer and he said, «I can use ebay too!». What does that have to do with anything?
If you have 4 of something sitting on the shelf and somebody offers you cash money, you don’t try to demand retail at a freaking pawn shop. Maybe you need to understand a little bit better how the «inferior goods» market works.

Very nice, professional and honest.
I just sold a pistol and got a fair price and then was offered a very fair price for a guitar that I ended up not selling. The whole time the shop was cool and laid back.
I was surprised at the good variety of guitars they had, a lot of these places advertise guitars and you go only to find some squiers and first act stuff. They had a couple very nice guitars.
I think the only real downsides are its a little small and since its downtown parking isn’t ideal. Even at that, I will definitely be back when looking for used guitars and such.

I have use the palace several times to get loans on my personal ectronic equipment. and I am sold some gold on a few occasions. everyone at the store has been very polite and helpful. I have gotten a good price for everything I’ve taken in. when I picked up the items I’ve had a loan on everything has been returned in the exact same condition as I took it in. Barry and his staff are fantastic.

I got a fantastic deal on wedding rings. Saved thousands over going to mall store. Great selection and a joy to deal with.

I have only bought/​sold/​traded here, I have never used their loan services. I have purchased musical instruments of varied quality and condition; there are usually some decent guitars or amps in the store. They have the standard array of pawn merchandise (small appliances, guns, jewelry, etc,) and have a knowledgeable staff who seem to make shrewd decisions as to what they will take-​in… some pawn shops seem like garage sales or seedy fronts for nefarious shenanigans. They have lots of good stuff, I guess, would be the bottom line here. I think you should check them out next time you are down by Pike Market.
