History
Established in 2002.
Pizza Pi was first started by Russ Kemsley in November of 2002. He was coming up short in his search for vegan pizza so he created a place for it himself. It was later sold to the Grossman family in an effort to keep the legacy Russ created alive. After a time the Grossmans sold Pizza Pi to Colin and Tami Blanchette who expanded the menu and attracted new customers until November 2011 when they sold it to Darcy and Luna. During their 3 years as owners, Darcy and Luna had numerous employees, including Kenneth Hopper, who bought the business from them in March 2013.
In October 2015, Pizza Pi made it’s way into the loving hands of long-time customers, Rex Ray and Meredith Monroe (that’s us!). We’ve been fans of Pizza Pi since the early days (Rex’s first visit was while the Grossmans were still the owners!). So much has changed over the years and will continue to change and grow going forward. We’ll only get better with the great support of the Pizza Pi family! We love you all!
Meet the Business Owner
Rex and Meredith.
Business Owner
Hello Pizza Pi family!
My name is Rex and I co-own Pizza Pi with Meredith. I’ve been a customer of Pizza Pi for over a decade! I have years of experience working at corporate and independent pizza restaurants and am excited to bring my skills to Pi. In my personal life, I’m a vocal advocate for animals and an active volunteer with Sea Shepherd. I believe the best way to introduce more folks to veganism is with delicious food! It’s also a great way to keep existing vegans very happy!
Meredith Monroe is the other half of Pizza Pi. She has spent her entire adult career as a licensed veterinary technician, helping to nurse and heal sick and injured animals. She has also been vegan for over a decade and has worked with Pasado’s Safe Haven to help end the cruelty and neglect of farmed and companion animals. She’s a self-proclaimed vegan pizza addict!
Together, we have the ethics, passion for animals, and love for pizza to ensure that Pizza Pi thrives and grows for years to come!
