If I could give this place a 10 star, I would. This place is amazing!!! The restaurant has a cute and cozy interior, very clean and friendly atmosphere. My boyfriend and I ordered the pork steak and short ribs. The meat was great quality and the flavor was on point. For the price, the quality and portion of the food is over the top. Way better than purple, earls and palominos in Bellevue. I can honestly say it’s on par to el gaucho. This place is perfect for dates and casual dinners with friends. If you’re here, definitely try purple rain, best cocktail ever! Customer service here is amazing, server was very nice and attentive, the bartender also checked on us a couple times as well. Professional customer service is the way I like it! I have nothing bad to say about this place. Lovely place. Definitely will be back very soon!

Rocky is the best, every meal I have had there has been outstanding. Great for a nice meal, or just a nice drink. I keep going back.

Absolutely unbelievable dinner! The cocktails were all excellent, the appetizers were so flavorful, and the main courses were outstanding. We tried the Raspberry Sunset with vodka, Chambord, Canton ginger and lemon. The glass was half rimmed in sugar crystals so you could choose extra sweet, or not. Super refreshing and it packs a punch! The Bee’s Knees really are! It is like a super duper lemon drop with Glass Nectar Vodka, fresh honey and citrus. The corn and Oil will keep the motor running even on a cold winter night! The grilled octopus is out of the world. So tender with a chili, mint, garlic aioli is so succulent. I was a little Leary of the duck egg and Foie Gras but that was so rich, and yet perfectly balanced. The pork steak was over the top.

Thank you restaurant week for letting me try a new place! I’ve been wanting to come to Pomerol since it opened, however I’m usually skeptical to spend a lot on a dinner if I haven’t been there before. My boyfriend and I went here this week and had a great experience. Also, we were able to sit outside on the back patio which was great given how nice it was yesterday. I was initially disappointed because I had been looking at the menu online to plan my meal, and the menu they actually had at the restaurant was different. I was initially upset, however all of the food was amazing– but it did throw me off a bit. For starters we had the clams and chilled tomato soup. Main entrees were the trout and pan roasted chicken. For dessert we had bread pudding and the goat cheese tart. We also had a few cocktails. Everything we had was really good. The goat cheese tart was probably my favorite out of everything. Our server was very nice and attentive. I will say that we looked at the normal menu, and it is on the pricer side. This would not be a regular place, but I would definitely come back!

Excellent. High end quality French fare without the snob appeal of Paris. Subtle textured flavors that reveal themselves like an unfolding of a fine Bordeaux wine. And they have that too! Half price Wine Wednesday on select wines make this an affordable luxury Approachable menu and wine list with friendly staff complete the picture.

It’s not just that Pomerol is a really nice restaurant with an exciting menu of well-prepared and imaginative dishes, true craft cocktails, and that it could become your favorite place! It’s just that it is a gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous place with a great kitchen AND a great bar — this is the place to order a Sloe Gin Fizz! Fan tas tik.

This is our second visit. Tonight we are enjoying Valentine’s Day prix fixe menu. A special 6 course dinner! I’m trying the beef tenderloin, Brussels sprouts, hedgehog mushroom, and celery root. They are offering two appetizers, a choice of starter and a choice for dessert. I think I will try the chocolate terrine, almond crumb, port chantilly cream! Yum. The service is excellent.

Hands down the best foie gras and oysters I’ve ever had at this place. The portions were bigger than what I’m used to considering this was a French restaurant but it worked out because we devoured every bite. Ambience is casual but nice so you can come in with a pair of jeans or dress up if you’re in the mood. Thinking about the foie gras and the toast it comes with makes my mouth water. The oysters(can’t remember which ones they were) but they were fresh and icy cold. The mignonette had a jalapeño kick to it and was the perfect touch. The pork shank, roasted beef short ribs, and pan seared chicken were all very rich dishes which went well with our«Pomerol» wine. «Pomerol» is apparently a city in France which is where our wine was from. It was smooth and a perfect complement to our food. The service here was very attentive and low key aka no snooty French waiter. Can’t wait to come here again!

It was by chance that Seattle Restaurant Week would align perfectly on the days I traveled, but it was an opportunity I didn’t want to miss out on. A week prior to the trip, my friend and I set aside time to go through the menu offerings. We narrowed down our options and decided to settle on Pomerol since it was within close proximity to our evening plans at Paramount Theater. Since Lucy and I both opted in the three-course meal, we began our meal with appetizers. I decided to go ahead with the Hubbard squash soup with caramelized peanuts. The squash purée was creamy, but I wasn’t a super fan about the addition of peanuts. I thought it went against the creaminess of the soup, but was there to provide textural contrast. Regardless, it superb and on point; a dish I wouldn’t mind having again and again on a gloomy day. Lucy chose the beef tartare served with crostinis, pickled shallots and fennel. I have no idea what the spread or purée is on the plate, but the portions for an appetizer was well put together. For our entrees, Lucy chose the Steelhead Trout served atop charred corn, warm potatoes and a cilantro purée. The fish was cooked to perfection to attain its moisture and the dish itself was a light, healthy alternative to the other offerings. I went with the heavier option, but considering it was pork, I thought it was to be prepared a little lighter. However, the pork steak was grilled and prepared like a steak. Charred and smokey, the pork steak laid to rest atop flagiolet beans, brussel sprouts, chanterelle mushrooms and a very creamy cauliflower purée. It was a lot of food! Classified as a French restaurant, it resonated more as new American to me. The menu changes daily as the it incorporates market fresh or seasonal product and Pomerol’s innovative use of ingredients allows the flavors to speak for itself. It was quite the interesting experience to transform pork into a steak and have chicken skin ice cream as a dessert.

Seattle Restaurant Week…2015… Venue really emphasized the wood-fired grill. Menu items all looked damn good so it was a tough time choosing. Definitely recommend bringing yr bae to share the dishes. I had a preview of the restaurant week dishes before reserving this place but I didn’t notice that they change their dishes regularly. Bye bye octopus entrée… So I ordered the steak tartare, pork steak, and rum cake with chicken skin ice cream(you read that right) The steak tartare started off the night right. The tartare was topped with frisee and accompanied by mint pistou on the side. The mint pistou was definitely an interesting touch. It was dark green and gave an awesome, can’t-put-my-finger-on-the-taste twist on the tartare. The flavors combined wonderfully and set the standard for the rest of the night. Bae ordered the squash soup, which was creamy, rich, and delicious. Quite a generous portion for the soup as well! The pork steak was very tender, and was accompanied by beans, mushrooms, and brussells sprouts. I thought that it could have used some more flavor and creativity in the dish and the components in the dish were mixed haphazardly and didn’t accompany each other too well. Still, the main contender, the pork steak, fared well enough. Bae ordered the chicken, a more traditional dish, but well seasoned and moist. The night concluded with dessert. Bae ordered the chocolate panna cotta, accompanied with biscotti, which ended up being just okay, reminiscent of the chocolate flavor you’d get in a gelato shop. Unfortunately, she agreed with my opinion, so she ended up picking off most of my dessert, the rum cake with chicken skin ice cream, which was special. The cake had a very complex rich flavor to it, and the chicken skin bits were really just for show, not much to go crazy about or run away from. All in all, a decent restaurant. Felt like a very v-shaped night, an incoherent entrée bookended by fantastic starters and desserts. Service was on top of things and our dishes were brought out seemingly right after one another. Decent 3 out of 5

I don’t give out 5 stars often, but when I do… Some of my favorite starters– Frizee Salad: hazelnuts, blue cheese, shallots, heirloom tomatoes with a sherry vinagrette if your not into that the Summer Squash salad is also equally as delicious with thinly shaved raw squash. I honestly love both. Confeit Chicken wings: Not a saucy wing but still amazing! Great flavor served with some heirloom tomatoes and Thai chilies. Hamachi: Thinly sliced yellow tail tuna, sort of like a sashimi with watermelon and thai chilis Octopus: If you are into octopus this is the place to get it. The portion size is small about 3 – 4 legs. They are cooked on the wood grill so they have that nice smokey flavor and great texture definitely not chewy. Aioli and nuc nom are served with that. Fois gras: if you are feeling something rich. I love how they prepare this. They give you a decent size pan seared. Now for the entrees– My ABSOLUTEFAVORITETHING is the Beef Short rib: This is not your traditional braised short rib. When you walk in the door you should see meat hanging from the wood-fire grill and that is the SR slow smoking it is then grilled to order served medium rare. Of course being a SR it is a fattier piece of meat. But it is well worth it! served underneath is a creamy cauliflower purée and house made mustard seed. YUMM Chicken: This is just a classic dish, one of the only proteins not grilled. They pan roast it so it is nice and crispy with lots of flavor and then they serve it with a delicious sherry broth. Steak Frites: Classic french style made with skirt steak served medium rare also great smokey flavor. The fries are also awesome! Sea Scallops: Now personally I am a pan seared scallop kind of girl, these are actually also cooked on the grill so they have the smokey flavor, its different but still good. The sides that come with this are amazing(small potatoes, mushrooms and charred corn) and the chili-lime butter is what really makes the dish! Palouse garbanzo pakora: similar to a falafel. Ground up garbanzo, cauliflower, peas rolled into balls and then deep fried in peanut oil. The order comes with three and is served on top of a carrot/corn purée and a yogurt to help cut the dryness and spice from the Palouse spice! This is the only vegetarian entrée, very delicious for anyone though! Sides– Most of these are potatoes and I really like that they make them fresh to order, like literally shredding the potato when ordered. (FAV) Rosti: Basically a Swiss hash-brown or potato cake nice and crisp cooked with shallots inside and topped off with crème fresh :) Goosefat potatoes: Fingerling potatoes pan fried and crispy Pommes purée: fluffy creamy mashed potatoes Everything is house made fresh at Pomerol! This is one of the reasons I love it so much! I can truly say I like everything on the menu.

Simple yet comfortable looking restaurant. I love the dimmed light environment and the friendly professional staff. The menu is very spot on with one of each kind. For example: one dish of scallop, one dish of pork, one dish of beef ribs, etc. It isn’t your big restaurant, where you’d see 5 different dishes of scallops or beef ribs. I had scallops dish, and let me tell yah… The sauce was so great that I literally cleaned the plate in the end. Scallops with lime-butter sauce topped with oyster mushrooms and dragon tongue(a fancy name for a type of bean). My Lord! The scallops were spot on with soft texture, and I could taste /smell the grill on the scallops! It is open kitchen, folks. So you’ll see the chef(s)/cook(s) in action all night long. Like I said, simple restaurant but very complex and creative menu. Please don’t expect to come here and spend under $ 20 as you’ll crave more delicious dishes.

Let’s go to dinner, my Capitol hill friends exclaim! Ok, but my turn to make you drive your butts to my side, I’m not fighting the traffic tonight! Luckily I came across lovely Pomerol. Surprisingly enough, my foodie friends had never been as well. Service was friendly and fast. We decided to sit outside on the patio. Cute set up with little pillows for décor. The menu choices were very good, lots of variety. I wanted it all! For starters we got the oysters and octopus. The oysters were very fresh and yummy. They were even nice enough to grill just ONE oyster for my friend who wasn’t quite feeling the raw seafood. The octopus had a nice smokey flavor, and was just the right amount of soft and chewy. Ordered a delightful bottle of Beaujolais Gamay, it was light and fruity and paired nicely with the apps, but had enough body that I knew it would pair well with whatever else we ordered. For the main, we shared the short ribs, the chicken and side of duck fat potatoes. The short ribs were flavorful, the chicken was tender and juicy, and the duck fat potatoes were on fleek! Ended the night with the chocolate dessert and a goodnight kiss(brandy, crème de cacao, espresso). Wouldn’t have had it any other way.

French-Country Hospitality Ambience: 4 Food: 5 Drinks: 4 Value: 4 Named for a French town west of Bordeaux. With a homey interior and quiet back patio, the owners of Pomerol aim to bring the homey and hospitable feeling of their beloved France to Ballard. Ambience aside, the food is outstanding. Their center piece is their wood-fired grille, and their star dish is the smoked roasted short rib. Not pre-cut into small piece, a might cut of a single rib is first hooked and smoked atop the grille and then roasted and sauced. Serious French cooking, with a country homey feel. We also tried their rabbit. Locally sourced, it was tender and fresh(it is actually quite rare to be able to get fresh rabbit in America). Sauced and cooked perfectly, a fine French dish. We are looking forward to their Winter ‘special’: lamb’s tongue. Accompanied by a bottle of French table wine, it was good eatn’. The bill was in the triple digits, but surely beats-out having to travel to France.

Friday night and a friend and I are in the mood for steak. Unilocal searching in Fremont/Ballard and not many options are coming up, especially ones that don’t require a long wait. This was never a problem when I lived in Chi-city. Pomerol pops up on my OpenTable app and the menu has steak-frites so we’re on board. I’m not gonna lie, I can be kinda diva-ish when it comes to steak. I’m usually skeptical that any restaurant steak offering under $ 40 can be a reasonably decent piece of meat. Luckily, Pomerol had no problems delivering on quality with both the steak-frites and the short rib. I’m actually hard-pressed to say which one I liked more. The short rib definitely wasn’t what I was expecting with the meat sliced and placed on top of the rib itself. Made it much easier to get to the good stuff. Solid food at reasonable prices. Will def be coming back!

Really great food. Everything we had was good, and a lot of it was outstanding. Appetizers: — Octopus — I was afraid that wood-grilled octopus would be overcooked and tough, but this was tender and flavorful. — Hamachi — Good but not memorable. — Foie Gras — Rich and decadent, as foie gras should be. Entrees: — Beef Short Rib — I’m pretty sure my partner gnawed every bit of meat off that bone. — Chicken — Juicy, flavorful, delicious. The French would be proud. Bonus: The bartender here is really good. He knows his stuff and is creative, so you’ll be in for a treat if you name a base spirit and let him work his cocktail magic.

I had semi high expectations for this place. Have been wanting to try for a while and finally found a reason to come for Father’s Day! The place isn’t terribly big and wasn’t too full either. Food: For 3 people we ordered 1) Raw Oysters $ 17: Comes w/6 and had some light sauce on top. Oysters were good quality-wise. Kinda standard pricing for them. 2) Hamachi ~$ 15: This was really good! I love sashimi and this was exactly that w/some garnishments and chili oil/olive oil drizzled on top, which gave it a kick. 3) Steak Frites ~$ 30: Did not love. It was kinda chewy/had too much fat/just overall, a struggle to eat. The portion is very generous though. 4) Lamb Leg ~$ 30: This was pretty good. Not too gamey. It’s pre-sliced. Did not order dessert as nothing really stood out to me. Overall, not exactly French, kinda like New American/sharing plates. $ 100 before tip. 3 stars because, it was kinda just ok. Not terrible, but really good good either. Highlights were the raw appetizers.

Have you ever wanted to lick a plate clean, but you didn’t because it might be considered weird to do so in public? Well, that thought definitely crossed my mind when I went to Pomerol during Seattle Restaurant Week. Here are my thoughts in a nutshell: –Food/Taste: 4 stars –Customer Service: 3 stars –Atmosphere: 4 stars –Costs/Price: 3 stars Overall Experience: 4 stars It’s conveniently located on a main road in Ballard, and street parking was fairly decent. As you enter, the atmosphere is simple and intimate. One of the best features of Pomerol is their open kitchen. I ordered the following scrumptious foods: –(My «Drank») Cucumber Cocktail($ 9): A mix of cucumber, vodka & club soda, which was light & refreshing. Is it bad that I wish there was more vodka? Hmm, but isn’t that the answer to everything? –(Appetizer) Baby arugula, parmesan, grilled asparagas & goose fat bread crumbs: Move over, Caesar salad! There’s a new salad in town. This definitely ain’t your regular olé salad! The arugula had just the right amount of bitterness and the crunchy bread crumbs tasted amazing. Lesson learned: anything cooked in goose fat = yum! –(Main) Pork flank steak & pork belly: As one of their staples(outside of SRW) the pork steak was pretty tender. The decadent butter sauce was mouth watering and definitely plate lickable. The pork belly was also a nice treat. Who doesn’t love pork belly? –(Dessert) Peanut butter chocolate cake w/chantilly cream: Not my personal favorite, but it was still pretty tasty. The cake was too crumbly for me, but if you love peanut butter, this is a good way to end your evening. I also liked the coarse sea salt sprinked on top of the cake — A nice sweet & salty mix. Overall, I would probably come back to Pomerol and try some of their other dishes.

Pomerol is a nice little restaurant in Fremont with intimate setting. I came here for Seattle Restaurant Week with a few friends and we were all impressed with the atmosphere, the décor, especially the food. My friend and I ordered the Fremont cucumber cocktail for drink and it was very nice and refreshing. For starter I ordered the Grilled asparagus and arugula salad, the pan roasted chicken for the main dish, and strawberries with balsamic as dessert. My favorite items were the pan roasted chicken and the dessert. Pan roasted chicken was seasoned just right and cooked to perfection, it was very juicy and flavorful. The only downsize was the portion size could be a little bit bigger. The dessert was light with the right sweetness and tart. Service was good, our waitress was polite and know the menu very well. I’m very excited to come back in again to try their regular menu. A nice restaurant for anyone looking for a great date night!
