Busy Saturday night, the hostess was excellent and nice enough to find a spot for us to sit at the bar upstsirs. That’s where the experience ends. The upstsirs bar faces a darkly lit area. No view, felt like we were sitting in a closet-. Ordered the chicken pizza, it was cold and chicken was dry. Everywhere you walked empty boxes were stored. Under the stairs, boxes. Against the wall, boxes. Suggestion, do some organizing and cleaning. Decorate and properly light the upstairs bar.

Food: Delicious. I had the steak frites which was cooked perfectly and was seasoned well. The fries were tasty. My girlfriend enjoyed her pasta. Service: Our server, albeit a bit odd, was prompt and helpful. She helped me decide on a wine that paired well with my meal, and frequently came around to check on us. 4 stars because I felt like the wine menu was so large it was intimidating. There wasn’t any description beyond the name and where it’s from. It also was pretty dark as the night went on.

I’ve been here twice. Atmosphere is nice, but the food isn’t spectacular. Everything about the place is really classy, but the food nor the menu are on par with the rest of the place. They aren’t bad, but it’s just not a «wow» like you’d expect.

The Ambiance is great. The food is great. But if you stepped foot into the mens room downstairs you’ll find yourself trying to un-stick your shoes from the floor. It is in dire need of restoration. I felt like I shouldn’t have attempted to wash my hands because all the paper towels were soaked already. Be sure to byo-PT!(Bring your own Paper Towels! Gross. But only in the restroom. CALAMARIISAMAZING! Hope they fix the bathroom issue.

This is a cute wine bar close to downtown with great ambiance and nice décor. The wine tower in the middle is definitely a sight to remember! It definitely gets busy so try to make reservations ahead of time. There’s a lot of two top tables so I think it’ a date night or GNO place. I ordered the Reisling flight — it was yummy and the wines were sweet, but not too sweet. We ordered 1) marinated chicken pizza — the crust and toppings were just ok. And 2) the cheeseburger. I asked for bacon, but they forgot so they gave it to me on the side later on… Weird. The mixed greens accompanying my burger was good and had a light dressing. Food isn’t anything to write home about, but it’s a great place to chat, drink some wine, and nibble on food.

My husband and I visited the Purple Café and Wine Bar in January — amazing!!! the menu is so versatile for food and drinks. The atmosphere is great for a romantic date, group dining, or a catch up session with a friend. I recommend getting the macaroni as an appy! Our waitress was spot on with recommending wine for us. Definitely check this place out!

Dropped in around 3pm on a Saturday for a quick snack and a glass of wine. The place was pretty much empty, but we opted to sit by the bar. Cool décor: a spiral staircase showcased their wines in the middle of the restaurant. I got the baked brie appetizer($ 15 — bit pricey): apricot preserves, caramelized onions, candied walnuts, gapes, and crackers. The baked brie was made with phyllo dough — crispy and light. A little burnt at the top. This is great for sharing for 2 – 3 people. As expected there was a great wine selection. Service was great.

Super disappointed with the service tonight. The server had us waiting for our food for 40+ minutes. When I asked him about it, he looked annoyed as though I was the impatient one. When the food finally came, it was the wrong order. I wanted the lobster roll but instead he gave me lobster Mac and cheese. The worst part is he didn’t even apologize for the mistake first – another lady did! Thanks to the lady at the front desk who kept checking on us and offered us free dessert, we would’ve had a terrible Mother’s Day dinner. And to our server today: I hope this isn’t your usual performance. Food was delicious as usual, no doubt about that. I’ll still be going back to purple despite today’s experience.

Whats not to love about this place. It is in an awesome location and serves great food. I do my best to eat here as often as possible. This is the go to place for my wife and I. I recommend that you try the Lamb Burger. It is excellent.

Dropped in on Purple last night for the first time in a while, and was pleased to see that some things haven’t changed: the front door still weighs 400 pounds, the napkin rings still weigh 100 pounds, it’s still loud as a jumbo jet hangar, and it’s still dimly lit enough to make me appear quasi-handsome. The dim lighting precluded any food pictures… I tried to take some without the flash(because flash photography in a dim restaurant is obnoxious) but they just ended up looking like those accidental pictures that my old flip phone used to take of the inside of my pocket. Also, the food is still quite good. I got a fig and gorgonzola pizza that was absolutely splendid in every way – the perfect size, thin crust, and a really nice blend of sweet and savory flavors. My girlfriend got a quinoa and arugula salad with prawns and was also quite happy. It being Purple, we also got a glass of wine; we shared a glass of La Spinneta Barbera d’Asti, which was one of the biggest, brashest reds I’ve had recently. Quite tasty, and a good thing too because it was $ 15 a glass. That’s got to be like a 1000% mark-up, but I paid for it, so… Overall, a really nice experience, despite the ever-present difficulty of being able to hear your dining companion at this intimate-yet-loud place. And one last note: our server was professional and prompt, but also kind of robotically happy and detached. She was all smiles but there was no evidence of warmth or genuineness… I half expected that if she had come up to the table and said, «How’s everything tasting???» and I’d replied, «I have only two weeks to live,» she would have just reflexively replied, «That’s great! Can I get you anything else???» Minus 0.01 star for that, and kudos to her, I suppose, for maintaining her own work/life balance via cheerful-but-cold professional boundaries.

«A friend is someone who knows all about you and still loves you.» ― Elbert Hubbard So me and Glenn G play this game. He recommends a restaurant that he absolutely adores. I visit and have a mediocre experience. Purple Café keeps our long running show going! Picked up for another season! Dined here one recent Friday night because my other choice had nothing available at 8:30. Great wine list with very good BTG choices and many flights to choose from. However, fresh trout was bludgeoned to death in a sticky sweet pandering sauce and my lamb shank tasted like braised beef stew(instead of a lamb shank). Mediocre cheese plate was left with no real explanation, no explanation of wines I ordered, no enthusiasm by server, service definitely was uneven. And the noise in the place was deafening! Not intimate conversation applicable. Yelling at top of lungs required. Left the place with ears drumming and a headache. at least I scored a parking spot out front. So I’m glad some things in life never change. Glenn G recommends a 5 star restaurant, I give it 2 stars ;-) But, I will say this again, the wine list here is far better than most wine bars I have drank at. I did an old world flight then had the Bordeaux and CDP that was part of the flight as glasses. Excellent, excellent grape juice. Glenn and I would agree on that ;-) Not recommended unless Glenn G is your dining companion ;-)

Came here for restaurant week and although their menu is probably different than their standard menu, the overall quality and impeccable service are second to none. The overall grandeur of the restaurant was fantastic. High rise ceilings, a gorgeous stairwell in the center of the room lined with different types of wine will satisfy any wine lover. For restaurant week, I started out with the Gorgonzola cheese filled dates: a great mix of savory and sweet and enough to satisfy your taste buds. I followed this up with their grilled chicken breast. I was initially weary to get chicken since it really depends on how its prepared, but it was so juicy and delicious, I wish I had more! Our waitress recommended this selection since it offered a more filling meal(and boy was I hungry!). The was followed by the pecan pie which was to die for. Three pieces that although look so ridiculously small, pack such great nutty flavor that leaves you craving more! Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant and I can’t wait to come back and try their regular menu! Great place to take a date!

A lot less professional than the Bellevue location. Our server was decent but I was a little disappointed with the slow service and it seems to be no one cares here — I was sitting at a bar for 5 minutes without being greeted and the staff was just chatting and joking with each other. I would give them a two star but they are saved by their south african and turkish wines

I usually avoid this downtown stretch, as the restaurants here tend to be corporate and forgettable, and not at all representative of Seattle’s culinary scene. Purple pleasantly surprised me, and I would recommend it as a good option if you’re in the downtown area. I met up with a friend for an early dinner, which we both ended up enjoying immensely. You can tell the after-work hunger was setting in by what we ordered between the two of us: brussel sprouts, flash sautéed calamari, baked Brie, steak frites, and crème brûlée. Our favorite dish by far was the baked Brie, which was delicious and coated in a crispy pastry shell and accompanied nicely with lightly pickled grapes and sweet cracker bread. The brussel sprouts were savory and flavorful, although the sauce was slightly on the salty side. The steak frites were tasty but way more rare than I anticipated(red almost entirely through; I ordered medium rare). Finally, the crème brûlée was an excellent portion size to share and was a great finish to a solid meal. Flavors overall were well executed and consistently good, if not terribly innovative. The ambiance here is really nice; several reviews mention the massive wine display featured prominently in the middle of the restaurant. That certainly did not disappoint. Overall Purple feels very classy and is perfect for a date or a fancy spot for drinks after work. Parking is easy in the garage off university. Validation from the restaurant lowers the rate from $ 8 to $ 5. No complaints there!

Well this is a place where beautiful things happen! My group and I started our international study club here, and it’s been an inspiration ever since. Wine flights were tried, crème brûlée was sold out, but we had flourless dessert and icecream alternatives, so it’s all good. Ginger beer was golden. ginger. The waitress was mesmorizing– the coolest vibe, hippy, flowy, and super accommodating.

This was one of the best places I have eaten since moving to Seattle a year ago. The wine selection was good and the wine expert was very knowledgable and nice. As good as the service was, and it was great, the best part of the meal was the food. Our table split the Gorgonzola dates and they were some of the best appetizers I have ever tried. After finishing off a fantastic dinner we capped off the experience with their must try in-house made salted caramels. These were to die for. The ambiance was classy and the low lighting gave privacy without putting you to sleep. The price was very reasonable for what we ordered and I will be recommending this place to anyone who visits the city.

Purple has that sense of fancy that everyone needs on a date night. I have always been happy with my wines, and the somm’s are great listeners with some creative suggestions. As a vegetarian I evaluate by individual items and at Purple, their best offering is an incredible veggie burger. It’s a bit messy, falling apart at the seams, but this burger is built for flavor. I would recommend it as well as their cut fries. With that said, the atmosphere isn’t as casual as the meal. The doors are the heaviest I’ve seen in Seattle, setting the tone for the meal. Unfortunately, so are the chairs and napkin holders which areless appealing. They all have a beautiful staircase running down the center. Purple seems to favor the heavy, and that is how it matches the food, which also tends toward the richer more prominent side. Portions tend to be a little larger too, but not over the top. Regardless it’s a great place for a date night and you should try it if you haven’t yet. It’s right in the middle of downtown near the golf tee building(Yamasaki).

We first came here for a business dinner, since then my boss and I will stop by here whenever we get a chance to. Ambiance: the giant door to the entrance of the restaurant just brings thrill as you don’t know what the interior looks like after you walk in. Feels like opening the door to a dungeon. I’ve only come here for dinner so it’s always very dim lit with the vibe of intimacy. Food: make sure you try everything on that menu… some dishes are simply written, but when you bite into each dish, it just bursts with complex flavor. They have an abundant wine lists from various nations and US regions. Location: it’s extremely close to all hotels in downtown Seattle. If you’re from out of town like I’m am, then you why not give this place a try.

This is a beautiful place with a great atmosphere. Great for group outings, has a very fun and chatty atmosphere and great wine. The food however is not quite worth the price. We’ve had better pasta and soup for much cheaper prices elsewhere, that is what brought the review down. In all, come for the atmosphere and beauty of this place, but don’t expect too much from the food.

THISWASONEOFTHEBESTDINNER’S MYBOYFRIENDAND I HAVEEVERHAD! My boyfriend and I eat out often and were recommended by our hotel to check this spot out. We went for Valentine’s Day and were completely wow’ed by the entire experience from start to finish. The service was incredible and they let us try 6 different wines(basically a full size flight for free!) before selecting out bottle(and she would have given us more). The brussel sprouts are a MUST. I had to ask them for the recipe it was that good… The experience was so great that we came back the next day for lunch so we could eat the sprouts again before heading back to LA :) Can’t wait to come back next time we are in Seattle!

This is my first review, which should give you an indicator of how much I liked my time at Purple. We went here for Valentines, and the ambience and beautiful architecture were perfect for the occasion. For the non-wine savvy, like me, our waitress brought out some samples and explained their properties to us before we chose. Our entrees were delicious, but my recommendation has to go to the brie starter. It’s a must! Would definitely recommend and would love to visit again.

I hadn’t been to purple in about 5 years and I went a couple of weeks ago again. It’s a fun place for drinking wine and they even have flights, which I love! However, they are pretty carb centric in my humble opinion. As a vegetarian, I felt they really only had salad, baked brie, flatbread pizza or pasta. we had a good size group so I managed to sample them all but I would’ve rather have had something with less carbs. Maybe that’s their thing though, you’re drinking wine, perhaps they think you just want bread with it. Not sure. Purple is not favorite for that matter but fun if you’re a vegetarian or vegan wanting some wine and perhaps the Brussels sprouts without bacon.

3.5 stars. Stopped by Purple Café with a group of colleagues. We sat at the bar because we arrived slightly after peak dinner time when the restaurant was packed and we just didn’t want to wait 30 – 45 mins just to eat. What I love about this restaurant is the modern décor and the tall, winding stairs that led you up to Purple’s wine collection! It’s so pretty and amazing looking… and so unique that I wouldn’t mind bringing people here the next time if I know of someone who enjoys conversation with good wine and food. I had a chance to try their calamari as appetizer and duck confit carbonara and some chocolate caramels for dessert. I thought the food tasted ok(nothing notably bad or good) was slightly of smaller portion than what I’d expect from the prices(however, this could be due to the fact that it’s in downtown!). Just like the name suggests, they also offer a huge selection of wine, so you can decide to share a bottle or two with friends, pair a glass with your meal or simply have a wine flight of your own. Unfortunately, I don’t drink, so I can’t say too much about the quality of their wine. However, a person in my party used to work in the wine industry and he seemed to like it. Service was good. The waiters, waitresses and sommeliers were friendly and attentive. I wouldn’t mind bringing someone here again when I think of a nice/classy conversation/dinner in downtown area.

Checked this place out solo on a Sunday evening– so I sat at the bar. Ordered a glass of Pinot that was perfectly balanced(can’t recall the name) — also had the sautéed Calamari which was unique(with green olives & capers) — but absolutely delicious. The ambience is incredible. Large open windows, but still very romantic. The staircase of wine is pretty awesome… I’d come back again– but next time would order from the full menu, since the Calamari blew my mind…

I rarely write Unilocal reviews but my experience the other night encouraged me to get on here and write about how wonderful this place is. I am 28 years old, and last Tuesday I had the best dining experience of my life. I am a manager in the food service industry and I am paying attention to the little things. First, our server Ben was absolutely wonderful. He didn’t rush us at all. There was no passive aggressive«I’ll come back» or anything of the sort. He was thorough, informative, and attentive. He poured our wine, retrieved tastings for us, explained the menu, and educated my girlfriend and I about wine in a nice way that was not condescending in the least. Second, the food was incredible. I typically stick to the basics. This place has a lot of fancy plates that I know nothing about but it still has delicious«common man’s» food. I had a steak with french fries and my girlfriend had pesto pasta with pine nuts. Both of the aforementioned were incredible. We had the baked brie as a starter which was wonderful as well. We finished off the meal with Crème brûlée for desert. Do not eat here without ordering a Crème brûlée. Lastly, the bill was not too bad. We had our desert comped as well as a wine pairing for it which Ben recommended to us. I received an additional discount as well, and it was not for complaining or making any commotion, but rather for them recognizing us as good people and taking care of us. The environment, the food, the price, the wine, the service, the cleanliness; the entire experience was the best I’ve had in my life to date. I strongly recommend eating or grabbing a drink here and I hope you have as delightful of an experience as I did.

Purple has the best architecture for a restaurant I’ve ever seen; huge glass walls, spiral staircase, and wine cellar are just to name a few that stood out to me. Lobster Mac and Cheese Pretty heavy and not as much lobster as I’d like. It’s more of a mac and cheese with a splash of lobster. It tastes great and the cheese is amazing. One of the better mac and cheeses; just wish there was more lobster. Spicy Prawns and Frites This is a must-order. The spicy sauce goes perfectly with both the shrimp and the fries. Great dish to start, and I highly recommend it. Kale Cesar Salad Not much kale, but the salad itself was great. It wasn’t drenched in dressing like some salads I’ve had elsewhere. We opted to add grilled chicken. Usually grilled chicken breast is super dry, but Purple’s is moist and goes perfectly with the salad. Red Flight Trio — Major Flavor I didn’t like any of the wines in this flight. I ended up getting a glass of the Pinot from Oregon(forgot the name), but that was my favorite of the night. I usually like Cabs better, but ended up preferring the Pinot tonight. Make reservations!

We just came for desert. I’d bookmarked this place on Unilocal and we took advantage of being in the area to drop in. The only bad thing was the hostess’s attitude. Not very pleasant. But the crème brûlée is to die for and the salted caramels are bite sized bits of heaven. Get the crème brûlée with the suggested won’t pairing. Your taste buds will thank you! The bartender, Aaron was also very pleasant and the overall ambiance is very welcoming. I’d recommend this place for an intimate evening with friends or a romantic night out.

I was in town for 2 days in August before sailing off on an Alaskan cruise. My friend and I stopped here after dinner for a night cap. Super cute place to grab a cocktail or glass of wine. Extensive menu for both! We also had dessert, highly recommend the caramels. Next time I’m in Seattle, I will have to try this for a meal! I bet it’s an excellent date spot. Bartenders seemed a little pretentious. Loved the décor.

Rainy Tuesday night and the place is packed with a 30 min wait at 7 pm. Reservations recommended which you can do easily through Open Table. Huuuuge wine list from all over. How do they manage all that inventory? We sat at the bar and shared a few small plates. Here’s the rundown: Flash sautéed calamari: fabulously tender, light sauce with bold flavor from capers. Yes. Dungeness Crabcakes: I don’t know. Maybe because I’m from Maryland i just can’t get down with any other crab other than My Boy Blue. Also, they were breaded and oily. Skip. Spicy prawns and frites: a spicy butter sauce that was pretty overpowering but good. The fries were very good — fresh hand cut that soaks up all the good sauce. The prawns were slightly over cooked. Debatable. Marinated chicken pizza: Spiiiiicy! Really interesting cream sauce which reminded me at first of Brie and caught me off guard. Once I got past the surprise and the heat, it was really tasty. Yes if you can handle the spice. Crème brûlée: YUM. Creamy with a perfectly caramelized top. Yes, though all of their desserts have a caramel theme so they must all be heaven. Great portions for 2, even 3. We left full. Priced very reasonably, too. Service was excellent. Kudos to Sommelier/bartender/server supermen and wonder women who watch their bar like a hawk making sure your glass is topped off and actually wait on you like servers and not bartenders. You know what I mean.

I came here in search of a cheese plate, and I was not disappointed. The baked Brie with caramelized onions and grapes was perfect, served with a cracker type bread that managed to be savory and sweet. The pick three cheese/meat was a sizable serving, and the Serrano ham was salty & delicious. The drink menu has 4 pages of wine flights — something for every palate. Our waiter was very knowledgable, and more than willing to offer suggestions and tips. The space itself is amazing-great floor plan, rad tunes, and a view of the Seattle city goers if your date is boring you!

Purple helped me finally find a Washington wine that I enjoy(Kerloo Cellars Grenache). Thanks, Purple! My liver thanks you tremendously! The space: It’s big and open and the circular wine rack centerpiece behind the bar is amazeballs. I visited the restrooms but given it was NYE, um, well, I can’t quite remember what they looked like. I’m sure they were also amazeballs. One thing I do remember though is how heavy the chairs at the tables were. They weighed about 100 pounds each. The service: My group of four stopped in for a quick glass of wine before dinner at the Capital Grille across the street. Given that it was 7pm on NYE, I was unsure if Purple would be able to accommodate us for a short period of time but this turned out to be no problem. They seated us as a giant table and explained that the table was reserved beginning at 8pm. Perfect. The wine: Super awesome selection of per glass and per bottle wines. The wine flights are the way to go if you are not sure which wine to order, though they are a bit spendy($ 24+). If I’m in the area again, I’d pop into Purple for some vino but I’m not sure I’d eat there. Being that close to the Capital Grille is just too tempting for me.

Dear Purple, once upon a time I LOVED you. In fact, I loved you so much I celebrated my birthday here. However, the downtown Seattle location has become unnecessarily pretentious. Your attitude has far usurped the experience, taste and price. Why have you gotten bigger than your britches and why did you get rid of your happy hour? UPDATE: I’ve been told the Seattle location never had a happy hour although the others do. I could have sworn they had happy hour pricing way back in the days when I first came across Purple. If my memory has been damaged by too many glasses of wine(entirely possible), it then begs the question as to why the downtown location is the only one without a happy hour menu? My brother and I stopped by to visit a few weeks ago. You were empty. Two tables in the entire place in use and 3 people at the bar. We asked to be seated upstairs(I love the ambiance and mini couches). You asked if we had reservations and then asked us to wait five minutes and then wait five minutes and then wait. I can’t understand why and neither could the 8 other people behind us who also asked to be seated in various locations. Your gate guard(aka — hostess) had an issue trying to seat any of the four separate parties that showed up at 5pm looking to enjoy food and wine. In fact, one lady got so frustrated being told to wait, she finally went to the mostly empty bar on her own! I couldn’t believe you then tried to stop her. We finally left. No happy hour, not being seated with plenty of empty tables, and an attitude bigger than Mount Saint Helen’s…no thanks. We gave our money to another place that gladly welcomed it. To Purple fans, check out the Kirkland location(although I’ve recently learned it’s closed for extensive remodel unfortunately). You can find the same delightful food and wine at happy hour prices without the Kardashian sized attitude.

WOW. THISPLACEBLEWMYPALATTEAWAY!!! (5 stars and a meteor shower) Every time I visit Seattle its a mandatory favor to my palette to try new restaurants. This place… was… an awesome place. The ambiance is mellow and nice — the tall round-about structure in the middle of the restaurant holding hundreds and hundreds of different wine bottles was one of the coolest things I’ve seen at a restaurant. I remember this place use to be a bookstore many years ago and that structure held books — now its one of those pristine restaurants in downtown. Reservations are highly recommended. Service is on-point just as the food. FELSINA ‘BERARDENGA’: Chianti Colli Sensi 2012($ 12.50 per glass) — Sangiovese from Italy. This was the only Sangiovese wine that was offered by the glass and I was not one bit disappointed. Supposively this is suppose to be one of the best Chianti Classicos and I will say its pretty damn good. HIGHLYRECOMMEND. FLASH-SAUTÉEDCALAMARI($ 13) — san marzano tomatoes, capers, castelvetrano olives, chickpeas, garlic, white wine, red chile ake, fresh herbs and grilled bread. Do not expect this to be your typical fried calamari rings because it is nothing like that as nothing was fried. The broth has hints of spicy but nothing too spicy where its uncomfortable. The mix of fresh ingredients and the pieces of squid had bold flavors mixed together it was pretty amazing. HIGHLYRECOMMEND. DÉLICE D’ARGENTAL — cow’s milk and cream we paired it with | Renato Ratti ‘Ochetti’. When you have tasted fine and quality cheese, it is an entire new level!!! Wine and meat and cheese just go hand and hand. But if you are drinking quality stuff you better be eating quality stuff too. The device d’argental was like butter melting on my palate and it was SO creamy. We were served with crackers so it is best to include the cheese, meat, ANDJAM(yes the jam) for the most heavenly appetizer bite. HIGHLYRECOMMEND. CARLTONFARMSGRILLEDPORKCHOP($ 24) — bourbon glaze, braised mustard greens, butternut squash purée and brown butter hazelnuts. This is not your average pork chop. The pork chop meat was tender, juicy, and had a good balance of flavors from the glaze. I won’t lie, will probably claim this as one of my favorite pork chops I’ve tasted. The pork chop is resting on an orange purée and that purée was fabulous. Excellent execution on this dish and beautiful elegant presentation. HIGHLYRECOMMEND. BRAISEDANDERSONRANCHLAMBSHANK($ 28) merguez spice, roasted garlic panisse, apricot braisage and preserved lemon gremolata. Let me put it out there… i am scared of lamb because its gamy BUTTHISPLACE… This place made me LOVELAMB. The preparation of the lamb shank was beyond me that there was no hint of gaminess. Well prepared that the lamb tasted like oxtail(as in texture and taste). The meat was tender/fall of the bone tender and juicy. I was so surprised that lamb tasted like that. BESTLAMBEVER. HIGHLYRECOMMEND. VANILLABEANCRÈMEBRÛLÉE($ 8) — the best crème brûlée i have ever tasted in my life. it was so creamy, silky, heavenly, lovely, AMAZING. Unsure how it was blended but that crème was beyond words. On the real, it is hard to explain how delicious this brûlée is and to just say ORDERIT. HIGHLYRECOMMEND. CHOCOLATEGANACHECAKE($ 8) — vanilla custard sauce, chocolate cake crisps, pecans and toasted coconut. The cake was super rich that it was hard to take in any more after 3 small bites. It is good but I was craving a gallon of milk to quench my thirst. CRISPYBRIOCHE($ 8) — roared apple compote, spiced calvados caramel sauce, and vanilla ice cream. If you are into apple pie this might be the dessert to pick. The dish came with two crispy brioche but honestly would have preferred one because my palette became bored by the second brioche. The crispy brioche was interesting, crunchy corners and soft and dense inside. To get their full taste of the dessert it’s import to take bit with the compote and caramel. RECOMMEND. JABAAPPROVED. Until the next review…

Purple is a great place. I’d probably give it a higher rating if it wasn’t so drafty. I’m sure it didn’t help that it was a cold day out, but the little tent thingy that they have out front seemed to be ineffective since the door on it did not stay closed. And, the really big drapes were open, so every time someone walked in or out of the restaurant, we caught a cool breeze, as we were a couple tables off the door. The menu’s got some terrific things on it and it’s always hard to choose. But, I chose the lobster roll and chopped salad. I selected a flight of Northern Italian wines and the quality of the food and service is really unrivaled. The portions are reasonable and the food is delicious. The flights come with 3×2.5 ounce glasses and it’s just a great variety.

Excellent, excellent café and wine bar! I was exploring downtown yesterday to look at a Star Wars inspired gingerbread village and the downtown Sheraton. I wanted something to snack on so I went to what was open and nearby. The atmosphere and space of this restaurant is very cool with a column and spiral staircase all filled with different kinds of wine. I got a great riesling and for my snack I had a wonderful baked brie wrapped in a kind of «edible paper»(sorry, I don’t know the proper term for that) along with fresh cut grapes and dried pita chips. The wine and brie made an excellent pairing and I wasn’t really trying all that hard to pair it but it worked out wonderfully! Lol! I’m definitely coming back!

I love taking my first time out of town friends here. It’s right in the middle of Seattle downtown with a gorgeous gorgeous interior. I will never get over their spiral wine thingy. The vibe in here is great for both a romantic date or a friend date! It’s just an impressive place Their food is good. LOOOOVE their lobster mac, they are generous with their lobster! I like many of Their appetizers. Love their wine flights. Their staff is very knowledgable about their wine and food+wine pairings. I love coming here!

We had a reservation for five people and phoned to ask that the reservation be expanded to six. The restaurant claimed that our table could seat only five and that we could increase the size of our group only by moving our reservation from 7:30 to 8:45PM. We decided not to do that and reluctantly asked our extra friend to join another group for dinner. When we arrived at the Purple, we were seated at a rectangular table, two on one side of the table and three on the other. There was clearly room for an extra place setting. The table next to ours, which was identical in size to ours, had six diners at the table. Huh??? Seriously, now, the place is cavernous. Because of this obvious screw-up, I feel incapable of awarding more than three stars to the PCWB. The three stars were earned easily. As I’m sure you can see from the photos of Unilocal, the interior is beautiful. The menu is friendly and full of things that one wants to order. The food was very good and the service was perfect. I had a flight of three dry sherries($ 14), which I enjoyed while relaxed and sitting back. I started with a small kale caesar salad, which was way better than most dishes with the same name that one sees on menus. My main dish was a lamb burger with fries — excellent.
