Revolver Bar

For shame. I ordered the Born In The Usa because cheddar is the main cheese I like on my sandwiches. Also not on French bread, so I got something completely different than the menu said I would. No waiter service, you have to order did at the bar. My sandwich looked like it only had 2 pieces of that crappy American cheese, couldn’t have cost more than $ 1 for the business, yet happy hour price was $ 5, regular would have been 7. 600% markup? I asked for no pickle, there was a pickle. At least that was on the side.
Never again!

This is by far one of my favorite spots to visit when I am in Seattle!
This place has an awesome authentic 70’s vibe and décor to it from the vinyl that lines the back of the bar, to the furnishings and décor; defnitely sets a great mood to grab some food or drinks. They make an amazing Old Fashioned here that is delicious and my go-​to drink order when I visit. As far as beer + and shot specials go, you can’t beat the $ 2 PBR + Rainier shot when you’re looking for a great deal. The appetizers and food are also great — had the fried pickles, tator tots, and fish fritters; all great!

Okay beer selection, reasonable prices. The fried mushrooms weren’t much to rave about, but I really appreciate the fact that they were fried properly and didn’t get all soggy! The staff was friendly enough.
I don’t know if I’m into their food, but they’re definitely a great spot for drinkage and tunes!

Being a musician/​music addict myself, I love the concept alone — That is, to enjoy drinks in a dimly lit, and laid back (but very clean) environment, while the bartenders spin vinyl albums from a collection many times the size of my own! While I didn’t try any food, I enjoyed good service throughout my visit, and felt quite at home! And while it was busy, it was far from overwhelmingly so — Just right, in my book.
Will definitely be back sometime!

The best bar on the hill, very classic feel to it. Great for groups and they only play vinyl, outside area is a plus. Cheap drinks and close to other great locations

On two separate occasions I’ve tried ordering from Revolver via BiteSquad, only to get a call an hour later telling me the place is closed. Update your hours with BiteSquad, guys! I probably won’t bother trying to order again, because I wouldn’t want to chance waiting an hour only to be told they’re closed a third time…

I’ll admit I’ve been here a couple times but a drink now and then but truthfully never really had the urge to write about it. There are a couple good spots on that block. My girl and I rolled by though for the Bowie Blunch and stayed for some food. The food was good, but what really impressed me was that they kind of messed up my girls order and bam the bartender (didn’t get his name, nice guy) sorted it out fast. Got it cleared up and corrected so fast and showed us some live on the bill, no hesitation. Service is the key for me. We’ll be back for sure to spend our cheese on theirs.
Roll by this place and check it out if you haven’t, it’s worth it.

Figured I should post an update, as the person in question from my previous review no longer works here. The current staff is friendly and rad. The food menu, which focuses on various grilled cheeses is worth checking out.

I wouldn’t say I was impressed by this bar. It was dark and grungy feeling. They charged for waters. With all the other superior options around, not sure why you would stop in here. We were from out of town, so I guess we just didn’t know any better.

Went for drinks only. Reasonably priced drinks, records playing on cool old speakers at a volume that allows for conversation, and dim but not dark lighting. Will try again (and maybe try a grilled cheese next time).

Cool, it’s still here. Looks like they changed the menu, so I’ll never try the catfish I wanted to try. Grilled PBJ was very good. Pretty solid brunch. I’ll come try one of the many grilled cheeses and gumbo next time.

First off, great pick on the soulful DJ to get you into the weekend brunch mood!

The best thing to get is the Cristo… French toast surrounding a fried egg.
Definitely going to return soon!

Pretty good spot if you’re in the neighborhood. I love that they have a record collection, and our bartenders were perfectly friendly. Drinks were fine, nothing too memorable, but prices (especially at happy hour) were really good. Fried okra was get-​what-​you-​pay-​for $ 2 frozen packaged okra dunked in the fryer. I did like the gumbo though. I also liked the divey atmosphere — it’s not dead or empty, but you’re also not fighting for a table or yelling to be heard.

Two stars for good music and a nice crowd.
The drinks on the other hand aren’t very good. Nor is the bartender’s attitude, boooo!
My friend ordered the tater tots and later asked if we could make sure they were crispy. Bartender’s response is «tater tots are always crispy». Have you ever had a soggy tot? When I politely told her that we were just checking since some places under-​cook them, she looked at me and said «you’re done», implying I was hammered. What?!
Sad. Yet amusing too.

I saw a previous flyer for revolver brunch that included $ 3 mimosas or $ 1 bloody mary’s so my friend and I decided to check it out Saturday morning from around 11:45 — 1:20 I would say was our total time there.
True to the flyer the mimosas were $ 3. They were good, not overly juiced and upon our first beverage being set in front of us we probably took an addition 5 minutes to order food.
The breakfast options seemed pretty basic, not much of a creole or Cajun theme but we were not picky.
My friend got the Egg in a Hole (egg cooked in the middle of Texas toast, 2 pieces of bacon, roasted potatoes, and a cup of fruit). I ordered the Revolver Breakfast (2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, roasted potatoes, and toast).
We probably ordered our food around 12:15…maybe if I am being generous and we didn’t receive it for over an hour. Yes the restaurant and bar top were pretty much full when we got there but the wait time on the food shouldn’t have been such a long time. Thankfully we didn’t have anywhere to go and were not in any rush to move on to the next location, but I wouldn’t recommend popping in for a quick bite during brunch.
The staff was super friendly. The bartender was extra nice about drinks and great with conversation, checked in with us about the foods wait time twice at one point saying food would be out in another 2 minutes (which actually took 10) but I can appreciate him acknowledging the longer than usual wait time for diner food that can generally be whipped up in less than 10 minutes.
The $ 1.00 bloody marys only apply to those ordering an entrée so make sure to read the fine print before you delve right in to that special and make sure you note you want toast, I was up charged a dollar to substitute fruit for toast when I only asked if there were different types of toast and he said they only have Texas toast and I said that was fine. Instead I received no toast, a cup of fruit, and an extra dollar on my bill. I am very easy going… but these types of mishaps can put a normal customer up in arms.
Having worked restaurants before I am very aware of the settings, but generally do not cause a fuss. The biggest problem seemed to be the efficiency of the kitchen, not the wait staff. I think given a few more weeks to fine tune their cooking sequence the brunch will run smoothly.

Cute little neighborhood bar. Cheap, well-​made drinks, snacks and a great atmosphere. Came here late on a weeknight with some friends and it was perfect. Not too crowded, not dead — just lovely.
The music is awesome, the staff was friendly and it’s just about all you could ask for from a neighborhood bar.

I met a lady here for our second date. She is a regular here, knows the owner, and said she often brings records here to play. She is a very cool lady. Well I liked the cozy wooden booths and intimate vibe of the bar. They played great music while we were there. My date was going to bring Television’s first lp, but she forgot. Next time.
I liked that we could talk, drink beer and just have a nice time talking and getting to know one another. It was a lovely evening and Revolver is a cool bar.

On one hand the décor and the bar itself is pretty cool. beer prices aren’t bad either for the good location.
On the other hand, some of the drinks were iffy. Out of the four of us, we each tried probably two off the menu/​recommendations and none were too spectacular. Switched to beer which I wish I started with, decent prices though! Think Rainier on tap was $ 3.
Like others have noted, food was disappointing. If you’ve ever been to the south or had something close to real Cajun, this place will offend you. If you’ve never had real Cajun food, this place may still disappoint you for Seattle/​PNW.
After reading previous reviews of their perversion of Muffuleta and Jambalaya I’m glad I stuck with something hard to screw up, a BLT. Only problem was it was on a hoagie type roll, which for a BLT makes the sandwich have way too much bread in relation to other ingredients (at least in this case). Friend gave me some of her Mac and Cheese which was, I hate to sound so harsh but it just sucked.
I wouldn’t mind coming back here again, but I would probably eat before or after and stick to beer. That being said, I could do that at a lot of places. Really hope they either try to make the food more genuine or at least make it so the staples and basics are good enough to back up their changes.

Revolver Bar is a fairly new bar from what I heard in The Stanger. Steve and I were spending an afternoon in Capital Hill and decided we needed a snack. We were by Revolver and so there we go!
The place is relaxing and lounge like. The atmosphere is cool and everyone and everything is laid back.
Since we were hungry we did not get anything to drink so I cannot comment on the drinks. The food at Revolver is Cajun or Crejole influenced. The portions of the food are small. Perfect for a snack. I got the large Red Beans and Rice which was very good! Steve got some Catfish Burger Sliders which were also very good!
Revolver is perfect to go for drinks or a snack. Just be aware that getting a full sized meal is not something that they do here.
I noticed on the way out they have several turntables up in the other room from the bar. It would be fun to come when they are playing music on these!

Revolver is located in the building that Dinette used to be in and I really like what they’ve done with the space. I’m a sucker for theme restaurants and this place does the 60s/​70s music scene very well. I like the vinyl library they had there and the fact that you feel like you’re sitting with Eric, Fez, and Kelso in the circle when you’re hanging out in there.
I didn’t try a huge cross section of the food, but it does seem that they are still figuring some stuff out. The Muffuleta sliders were yummy and the taste was true to the essence of the New Orleans sandwich, despite the fact that it only has ham for meat. The bread and the nicoise olive spread were good. The gumbo was okay. I think it was underspiced and I wasn’t a huge fan of the fact that it was served with jasmine rice. I think it would be beneficial if they served it with a dirty rice instead. I’m willing to chalk that up to the relative newness of the bar. I think it’ll take a little time to fine tune everything.
The drinks were okay for the most part. Not everyone in our group enjoyed every drink they ordered, and I think that accurately reflects my experience too. Their old fashioned is pretty good, but their rogue orb was pure tequila. It’s supposed to be tequila and pineapple juice that has a smoked salt and cayenne pepper rim. But all I could taste was tequila. Were were there for happy hour, which they do every day from 4 – 6 and I was able to get a pint of Ranier for $ 2. So that’s a pretty good deal. I was mildly amused that the bartender looked like he was a member of Jethro Tull. I think he might have been hired because he perfectly fits with the theme there, not necessarily because he’s an expert at slingin’ booze. Again, I think this is due to the fact that this spot is so new. Once all the staff get more experience with the menu, I think these things will sort themselves out.
I really liked the attention to detail in the design of the interior of Revolver. I will come back again, but I’m going to give it a little while while the kitchen and the bar learn how to perfect the menu items.
