Specialties
Named after the 1905 apartment building in which it resides, Saint John’s brings affordable, unpretentious food and drink to Capitol Hill’s Pike/Pine corridor. Neighborhood favorites include the St. John’s Burger served with duck fat yukon potatoes, a pan-seared trout fillet and the John Cobb Salad. The bar menu has something for everyone, with wine and beer as well as an expansive list of boozy ginger beer concoctions dubbed Mule Variations as well as shot-and-a-beer standards. Saint John’s is a bar, restaurant, event space and public house in the truest sense.
History
Established in 2012.
After establishing Solo (200 Roy) as a gathering place for actors, artists, theater-goers, musicians, and Lower Queen Anne denizens in 2006, Val Kiossovski (known by many as guitarist for acclaimed band Kultur Shock) and Michael Lee (also of local rock outfits The Young Evils and Mal de Mer) began thinking about what might come next. Business partner Lana Kiossovski spearheaded the effort to locate a suitable space, so when news came that 719 East Pike was available, they knew that the right location had presented itself. Along with rocker Billy Gould (Faith No More) and Chef Joe Randazzo they opened Saint John’s Bar and Eatery in February 2012.
