Seattle Boudoir Photography

I wish I could give Seattle Boudoir Photography negative stars because I actually lost money to them.
I purchased a Groupon for a package back in December and planned to use it as motivation for a weight loss and fitness goal. Once I met my goal, and over two months before my Groupon expired, I called and e-​mailed to schedule my appointment.
First of all, the response time is very slow from the staff. I feel like maybe I would have been able to get something scheduled quicker if they had been more responsive, or had someone there who actually answers the phone.
Second, they only offer 3 possible appointment times per weekend (and only on Saturdays). Since I cannot afford to take off work during the week to get sexy photos taken (ah to be wealthy!), I was unable to schedule time on Wednesdays or Thursdays — the only other days they offer sessions. Basically, they told me they were already booked so I am unable to redeem my Groupon for the services I purchased.
I know I can use the amount toward services from SBP, but that feels like bait and switch to me and I have such a negative feeling about this company that I am reluctant to do business with them. If SBP is going to do Groupon deals, I think they need to offer more timeslots and options for people who have jobs on weekdays. There is nothing on their website that indicates that their time offerings are so limited — if there was I would have tried to book this much sooner.
I’m disappointed and feel ripped off. All in all not a «sexy» OR «empowering» experience.

To anyone thinking about doing a boudoir photo shoot for a loved one or even themselves —
I can not possibly say enough good things about Seattle Boudoir. The photo session itself was such a blast, the studio was incredible, the photos are breathtaking and the entire team created an experience that made me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world. I am still in awe at how amazing they made me look and feel — the pictures turned out so much better than I could have ever imagined or hoped. The experience was worth me joining Unilocal to create my first review, which speaks to how great they are as I’m not, by any stretch of the imagination, a blogger/​reviewer/​tweeter/​facebooker/​etc. However, anyone who treats their customers as well as they do and produces the quality of photography that they have, deserves to be recognized and praised.

I just wanted to say, once again, thank you for such an amazing experience. I still can’t believe how unbelievable the photos turned out and how much fun my photography session was with Kim and Phil. Your team made me feel beautiful, confident and capable of doing anything (including laying on the ground in just suspenders and a thong!). My photo preview session yesterday was so fun yet agonizingly difficult — the pictures were so good that I had an extremely hard time narrowing them down (I had 61 «must-​have» photos originally)! However, Ashley was incredibly patient (thank you!) and helped me create a gift for my husband that will most definitely put me in the running for «wife of the year.» Although I now have to wait for the final product, I am so anxious to see the look on my husband’s face when I hang up that frame and present the 12 days of «me» counting down to his birthday. He’s going to die! :)
Anyways, thank you so much for such a fun and wonderful experience; I am
already starting to save towards a couple’s shoot…

Do it! Don’t think twice, don’t let yourself or anyone else talk you out of it or question why you are doing it. Just do it! Trust me :)
Yes it’s a little scary to pretty much get naked in front of strangers, but these folks are not strangers, they are your personal cheerleaders and friends. You won’t want to leave and you will want to stay for lunch or go out for drinks with them! They are true professionals and the most genuine, caring, talented crew in the business.
Expect to laugh, feel pampered, get in a few awkward positions and maybe even get a few new ideas from them to try back at home too! But what you can really look forward to most is feeling (and looking) like a queen for a few hours. Your ideas will be heard, your personality will come through and they will give you some creative ideas if you lack them. But I must stress that you must breathe and trust them :)
I celebrated a 100+ lb weight loss with splurging on a session with Seattle Boudoir Photography. It started with a $ 50 Groupon. I put off booking my session for almost a year! But I booked it and from the start felt like they were really excited to have me visit — and I believe that to today. Booking and appointments were a dream, they have it down!
Day of, I arrived with probably 15 outfits, I only needed 3 – 4. I didn’t know what I wanted to wear so I brought bags of goodies from everywhere I purchased things from. Well, this ended up being no problem (thank you ladies!) I handed the bags over to Kim & Angela and while I was having my hair and makeup done by Kristina they rocked out 4 awesome outfits for my shoot. Love those girls by the way!
Hair and makeup was fabulous — that dreamy, steamy bedroom look I wanted. So pleased I «upgraded» and had this done on-​site. What fun!
My favorite shots were done in the kitchen which in itself was awesome! I had some props I brought including a cute apron and some cupcakes… I’ll let you use your imagination from there. Good stuff and turned out to be my favorites!
The studio can be transformed into whatever look you are going for. On the day I was there we used the bed/​pillows, some pics up against their beautiful brick walls in their studio and of course in the kitchen. They also have a great wall of books that I’ve seen some pics taken by. Possibilities are endless! It also looks like they are always changing it around, so expect something fun! Or you can bring your own props for pics — just talk to them ahead of time. Chances are they will be just as excited as you are to use them!
So actual shoot was a blast and I to be honest had a hard time leaving! I felt comfortable within minutes, my cheerleaders made me feel sexy and on top of the world. Phil (your photographer) is a dream to work with! He is creative, sensitive and has an eye for all the angles that are going to make you look amazing.
When you return to view your photos (first be patient they will take a few weeks) You will meet with Erin in a cozy little room to view your photos on the big screen, unedited, beautiful photos with music to go along with! It’s a pretty incredible experience and you will be a little overwhelmed. But no fear, Erin is there to help you select your photos (crop/​edits too).
Now, depending on what you purchased you may have a couple photos included in your package. If you choose to purchase more than what is included you can purchase additional photos, digital images, books, posters for a cost — you will not find prices on the website or on a printed out sheet. They will go over this at this time, during your review. No, this is not how every business is run but you did not just have your pictures taken at Sears or JC Penny’s either. There are lots of options for all budgets. I must have thought I was on a celebrity budget this day but that was my choice.
Here is the other great thing, you can buy them later if you want. My suggestion and knowing what I know now is I should have just bought the digital images to do with what I wanted with vs. purchase a lovely coffee table book that is not on my coffee table. But I LOVE it and my boyfriend loved the gifts I got for him. Just understand this going in and plan saving a little (if you have to) before you go in to view your photos. I called it a Christmas present to myself. Just remember why you are doing this and how often you do something like this for yourself. Maybe you have accomplished something like a weight loss or doing this for someone you love.
In the end I’m thrilled with my experience with Seattle Boudoir Photography. I would love go again! Treat yourself to something amazing and book it!

It would be 4 stars if the pricing was adequate.
The photo shoot was fun, makeup and hair was just OK, overall environment was good. But the whole impression was ruined after the review of the pictures and the first conversation on pricing. I have worked with photographers before and it’s unheard of charging so much money for a print. Be prepared to spend over 1.5K on a few pictures your boyfriend could take too.

I was one of the lucky few who purchased a Groupon. Shortly after I purchased, I emailed to set up an appointment. Erin was prompt with her response, as well as thorough with her answers as I had a few questions. And, even after needing to reschedule twice, including needing to make the appt sooner than originally anticipated because I was moving out of state, Erin was helpful every step of the way.
When I arrived at the apartment/​studio, I was immediately impressed with the stylish yet comfortable environment. There were 4 people there, the photographer, the make up artist, Erin (the woman I had been speaking with and facilitated the process), and then someone else who pretty much felt like my personal assistant! Instead of it being overwhelming to have so many people involved, it made me feel like a movie star. While I was having my make up done, «my assistant» was going through my outfits and helping figure out what would work best, as well as gushing about how good everything was going to look. It really made me feel special.
The session went very smoothly. They were very professional, yet fun. While I still had some nerves, they were still able to get some natural smiles and laughs out of me. For the entire session, I felt like I was the most beautiful girl in Seattle!
A week later I viewed the photos with my boyfriend and Erin. I figured this was going to be pretty straight forward, but I was wrong! This was another very special experience, beginning with a wonderful slide show of the photos. Then Erin went through all the photos and helped guide us through the difficult tasks of picking our favorites (we loved them all!). In the end, we picked our two that were a part of the Groupon package, but also decided we were ordering more once we got settled in our new home. I can’t wait!
Big Bonus: I LOVED my make up. So much so, I had my boyfriend take me out that night to show it off. The make up artist was very knowledgeable, giving me some tips as she was applying, and she also mentioned that she gives lessons. I would highly recommend her to anyone in the Seattle area!

***Who doesn’t like getting their picture taken… half-​naked?!!***
I bought a Groupon for Seattle Boudoir, kind of on a whim, and although I almost chickened out, I eventually had the guts to go through with it. Making my appointment was almost as terrifying as going to the shoot, but right off the bat, their customer service was on point. She assured me that I would be in great hands and that I wouldn’t make a fool of myself in front of the lens. I said, «Alright, I trust you!»
On the day of the shoot, I was full of different emotions, but tried to stay as calm as possible. Not having a «goal’ in mind, I was mostly just excited for the experience and being able to say that I’ve done it. The studio is located in Belltown and the best parking is on the street. I paid for about 2 hours, which wasn’t bad. There is a call-​box downstairs of the building so you do always need to make an appointment before showing up.
The studio is beautiful. Floor to ceiling windows that face the Puget Sound and allow tons of natural light in. (I did look around and make sure that there were no peeping-​toms loungin around…) The staff at the shoot was also great. They were helpful, complimentary, and professional. I felt «at home» right away and it was almost like I wasn’t doing any of the work, which was a great distraction! I had a great time and would definitely do it again.
It was only a few weeks until I saw my prints and I think that was more nerve-​wrecking than the actual shoot! I was seated in their «preview-​area» with their sales consultant and we watched a film of all my prints (they even had a soundtrack for it, hehe). It truly is amazing what photographers can produce and I have to say that I was impressed with how they turned out. The sales consultant helped me filter out any bad ones and choose ones that really stuck out. The one thing that really bothered me, was that there was no price list to overlook. I am not one to spend large amounts of money on pictures of myself, and I wanted to see VISUALLY what all my options were, but I couldn’t. I kept having her repeat herself for pricing and it made the process a little overwhelming. I ended up having to write things down myself!
Overall, I think that the boudoir-​concept is awesome and I think every woman or couple should experience something like this. It was freeing, fun, and definitely gave me a confidence-​boost. Now, don’t expect to come over to my house and see large framed pictures of myself in a thong, but it was an experience that I’ll never forget and I’d recommend this business for sure!

SBP made me fall in love with them … and myself! I was so nervous about my session but the staff here makes you feel like family. They are there with you from start to finish and they make sure you are at ease before, during and after the photo shoot! I was so insecure about everything and how the pictures would turn out, but thanks to Phil and the team here, I had NOTHING to worry about! I looked FANTASTIC! I couldn’t believe the lovely lady in the pictures was me! Call and go in for a studio tour and consultation! Once you book your session, uou will not be disappointed! Well worth it!

There are not enough flowery words to describe how amazing my experience was with SBP! First off, mad props to the entire team who make you feel so hottie glamorous that you want to carry them around in your pocket so you can listen to them squee over you at any time!
Secondly; the images. The pictures are the reason OMG is capitalized. They are out of this world «holy crap, that’s me?» sensational.
The crew really knows how to have fun and they clearly love what they do for a living. Professional and zany; you’ll be trying to figure out how to add them to your social circle because they are such a blast.
The investment isn’t just a few dollars but that’s exactly what it is, an investment. When you take in to account how professional and in-​depth the entire process is and how beautiful and school girl giddy you will feel everytime you look at your pictures, you will realize how worth it it is.
I’m looking forward to being a wrinkly old lady, pulling out my pictures and saying to my husband…“remember when I was a young, sexy, hot piece of you know what???”

BEWARE, «BAIT & SWITCH» APPROACH.
After learning a friend’s wife had the same experience as did mine, I decided to write my first Unilocal review. They do not provide the full set of prices or important details until AFTER your photo shoot. For example, the «digital photos» you are to receive are low-​res (180 dpi) and not even suitable for printing a 3×5 photo. If you want to buy hi-​res digital copies, it’s $ 150 EACH.
When you return after the initial shoot to view and select your photos, you run into a high-​pressure up-​sell. For example, more than 6 pictures requires a larger album, which by-​the-​way costs an extra hundreds of dollars. I returned with my wife, and they definitely tried to guilt me into buying more.
As a comparison, the cost of 12 pictures from Seattle Boudoir Photography would have cost the same as our entire wedding photography, which included an engagement shoot, a day-​off shoot, and a day-​after shoot. From that we have 1,600 pictures (hi-​res) shot over 3 days. Needless to say, we didn’t purchase as much as we wanted. Knowing others that have had the same experience, I thought it worthwhile to give a «Buyer Beware» warning.

this studio rocks! 3 of my co-​workers and i went in for some individual and group shots and had the best best time. i’m a 51 yo average professional woman and this studio far exceeded my expectations. this was my first boudoir shoot, so i was a novice at posing but they got me right into what was best for me and i was completely comfortable the entire time. the staff knows what they’re doing from the stylist to the creative director and of course the photographer. there was zero creep factor. the group shots were loads of fun and the longer we were there, the more we were laughing and having a fab time. i know the shots will be wonderful because it was so authentic and not forced. loved it!

Update: Took away 2 stars because during our planning phase, I was told that the bride would get a gift such a «free print or something». He never followed through and when I asked about it, the photographer laughed in my face and denied ever saying so, even though I have the emails to prove it. I thought this was unprofessional and quite insulting especially for the amount of money we each paid for the session and prints. I spent a total of 900+ dollars. His employees however were fantastic.
The professionals make you feel right at home and comfortable. They are so creative and are anal about making sure you are in a pose that is going to flatter your body, whether it be curvy or straight boy shape. I was so pleased with all of their planning and accommodations they made for us. Our bride to be was super happy and loved every moment of our session. The only thing I’d advise is that to save ahead for the purchase and session and pics, it is expensive and they won’t give you any price quotes before the session up until you go see the pics. Beware.

The whole boudoir photography experience was absolutely wonderful. I felt so beautiful and empowered during and after my session! The entire team was fun (prepare to crack up during your session!) and professional and they were able to put me at ease in no time. My make-​up and hair looked amazing — I sure wish I knew how to do that smokey-​eye look at home!
Just a few weeks after my session I went back to the studio for the «big reveal» and I was blown away by the quality of the images. Trust me, it was not easy to choose from the 90+ pictures Phil had taken! I am extremely pleased with the end result and definitely plan on picking up a few more of the pictures to surprise my hubby with on special occasions.
This is an experience that no woman should miss out on!

Highly recommended! Worth every penny and very, very fun! Seattle Boudoir photography is THE place to go for your more intimate photographs; the crew is amazing, highly professional, and will make you feel right at home and yet as glamourous and fawned over as a supermodel (minus the attitude!). My makeup was to die for, and my flaws (the ones i perceive, anyway) were scrupulously concealed, at the shoot and in my resulting photos. I was treated with the utmost respect at all times. The setting is hip and creative, feels like a Soho loft but could easily transform for any mood you are in. From the very first introduction to the pick up of my final photos, in a beautiful book, complete with discrete packaging, I was taken care of and reassured through every step. SBP takes customer service to a whole new level and I will recommended it.

I got this package on a whim and I am SO GLAD! This was so much fun! As someone who is not always very comfortable in my own body, I felt sexy and gorgeous! The staff was professional, helpful, and a hoot!
I was so nervous to view my pictures on their HUGE tv, but when I did, I was amazed! I looked great! The pictures turned out wonderfully! Even though I was indecisive and insecure at times they were awesome at walking me through everything, giving me honest advice, and making me feel all around beautiful! I recommend them to everyone and brag about my pictures constantly!

I can’t say enough good things about Phil, Kim, Erin, and Christina at Seattle Boudoir Photography!
I’m certainly not a shy person, but I’ve never been comfortable having my picture taken (or looking at pictures of myself). We were so welcoming to me and my girlfriend who I took as a «cheerleader.» The time flew by so fast, I couldn’t believe it. The hair and make-​up were perfect — me, but turned up a notch or two… The same with the styling that Kim did, it felt like «me» and not forced (which I was a little nervous about).
Best part (in addition to the wonderful photos) is I left feeling fantastic and sexy which who can put a price on. Then when I went back in to see them — there are no words for how they turned out — I still can’t believe I look that hot. Erin was so patient and helpful with looking at all of the (90!) pictures Phil took; helping me find the ones I really loved.
My normal patience has totally eroded, and I can’t wait get the finished prints and show them off!

I can’t even describe my experience at seattle boudoir… it was that awesome! We went there for a bachelorette party and just had a blast — all the staff is super nice and will make you feel very comfortable. The make up and hair stylists did a great job and Nicole — again no words — she had great ideas, gave good suggestions and just had an happy energy that made me feel great.
The pictures for all three of us were beyond sexy — Phil is an extremely talented photographer. Again the photo viewing experience was lot of fun as well and they just have such great people working there.
Totally Recommended! I am already thinking about doing another session… just need to convince my husband for a couples shoot :)

Here’s another five-​star review (note, there are filtered comments as well). I found SBP through their promotion on LivingSocial. Though these kinds of photographs were never a consideration, I purchased the promo because there was always one photograph I wanted with my husband. And it wasn’t even a «boudoir» type of photo.
Anyway, I called and spoke with Nicole, who really does make you feel like a long lost friend. She thoroughly answered all my questions and got me really excited for the shoot (I upgraded the promo to a couples session). Fast forward to the day of our session and my husband wasn’t exactly chomping at the bit to take boudoir photos (his response — «I’m just along for the ride»).
So we get to the studio and my husband and I are totally nervous and don’t exaclty know what to expect. I’m dreading that I’ll be in the dog house for what I got us into and I immediately want to turn and go back home. But who saves the day for us? Nicole! From the minute we get off of the elevator, this woman is a social butterfly who has tons of energy and really treats you like you’re the only person (or couple) in the world.
I meet Jen from Pinup Salon and she, too, is warm and welcoming. She does my make up and does it perfectly. To my preference, I look natural but fancier. My next hurdle is Phil, the photographer. I’m not a narcissist so I’m dreading what I look like and am thinking how this Phil guy is going to make me feel even more uncomfortable and how am I supposed to get great photos if I look so staged? Thankfully, this turns out to be farthest from what actually transpires.
Phil is really just the brains of the camera. He will go to great lengths to get his shot (such as standing on a ladder with a boot [see their FB page for photos]). He has a great sense of humor and once he started telling me what to do in front of the camera, my hesitation pretty much just melted away. And hearing my husband say «Wow» about fifty times really helped.
The experience was not what I had expected. My husband and I had a great time (that really is an understatement). I honestly did not want to leave because the team really makes you feel stunning. And who doesn’t want to feel stunning?!
Three extremely long weeks later, my husband and I go back to see our photographs. I was just hoping for at least a handful of great photos. My husband and I were literally blown away by what was captured. From about 100 images, we filtered them down to about 30. THIRTY photographs that I just cannot live without. The moments that Phil caught, the feelings that Nicole helped emote, and the beauty that Jenn brought out were phenomenally compiled into my album. The photographic quality really did come across as fine art. I cannot stop thinking of these photographs (our album arrives in 6 – 8 weeks).

If it weren’t for my terrific girlfriends, I never would have known about or gone to Seattle Boudoir Photography. My session was a surprise, so when I walked in and realized what I was going to be doing, I was really scared. However, the staff were incredibly friendly and supportive and made me feel at home pretty quickly.
When it came time for the photos to begin I looked HOT thanks to the awesome hair and makeup stylists. I wasn’t nervous and ended up having an amazing time. Usually I don’t even like having my picture taken.
About a week after my session, my finace came with me to the studio to pick out the prints we wanted. They all looked gorgeuos! Phil is a really talented photographer.
I would recommend this experience to anyone!

I had a tremendous experience with Seattle Boudoir photography… I found the staff to be both fun and extremely professional. Everything was well explained and the atmosphere was extremely supportive. My friends and I had an absolute blast. It was great to see Phil and team working with all of my friends who are each beautiful in different ways. Between the hair, makeup, and styling, each of their shoots was shockingly beautiful, but all so unique! What I didn’t expect was what an empowering experience I found boudoir photography to be. I recommend this experience with Seattle Boudoir Photography to any woman and I would definitely suggest it as a bachelorette party/​girls night out event option! Finally, the pictures absolutely exceeded my wildest expectations! You should seriously make your appointment today!
