History

Established in 2012.

In February 2008, my husband and I had just purchased our first home and were so excited to grow as much of our own food as we could. So, with the help of Back​yard​chick​ens​.com we choose a breed, built a coop, and started our backyard flock. We got our first egg on sunny morning in early June.

Raising hens turned out to be such a pleasure, they are the most entertaining yard art and the fresh eggs can’t be beat! What other pet makes you breakfast? However, going away for a long weekend, much less a two or three week vacation was difficult. We could not find anyone to tend to our roost while we were on the road. I knew we were not alone in our problem. So, in January 2012 I started Seattle Chicken Sitter.
