Seattle Cinerama Theater

The only place to see a movie in Seattle as far as I’m concerned!
Beautiful theater, chocolate popcorn is crazy good and they serve Beer, Cider and wine as well as hot pretzels TD Bravehorse style.

As everyone has already stated– buy the freaking chocolate popcorn already, K?!
It. Was. Delish. And, I hate using the word delish, so that tells you how delish it was. The sizes are pretty big, so I’ll get a small next time.
The pricing for Entry ($ 15 on a Sunday afternoon) is not bad, for how large the screen is and how clean everything is. 2 Medium popcorns & a bottled water was $ 19– not bad either. The chairs are either your friend or your enemy– the reclining feature is a bit «loose» so we just reclined all the way back, which we could do since we were sitting in the front middle section. Worked great. It did get a bit warmin the theater, but not too bad.
I’ll be coming back again. I enjoy the seat reservation system and large screen. Everyone was very friendly as well.
Oh. And the beer– they have beer on draft! How awesome is that?!

Great place to watch movies, reserved seating and the chocolate popcorn are the main highlights. Why did I not come her earlier? Decided to try this theater out since hearing about it so much, great thing about this theater is reserving seats online so you don’t have to get there earlier to snag some spots. But there is a small service charge included. The seats were really large and comfy with the back being able to recline. They have different types of food available, one of them being the chocolate popcorn, so delicious not too sweet either. If you need to go the restroom in the middle of the movie, don’t worry they play the sound from the movie in the restroom. Only thing is that they only play one movie at a time. I recommend this theater and will be going back soon!

I was so pleased with our first visit to Cinerama. I’ll break my thoughts down by category.
Concessions: Great craft beers, comparable prices to other theaters who serve local beer. The mixed butter-​chocolate popcorn was delicious — we ate an entire bag, which we NEVER do. And best of all, even though there was a long line and I had trouble deciding what to order, the customer service was extremely friendly and helpful and didn’t rush us at all. We got there about 15 minutes early and had time to wait in line for concessions and chat for a few minutes in our seats before the show started.
Seats: Some people mentioned having to lean back throughout the movie to keep the seat reclined — I didn’t encounter this problem at all. I felt like I was just sitting in a fairly comfy chair for a couple of hours. Maybe I got lucky, or maybe this is more of a problem for tall people (which I am not).
Balcony: I thought it would be hard to see from our seats (S3 & S4), since they’re so far to the right of the screen. But the screen is MASSIVE and clear, and the sound is great. We didn’t feel like we were far away at all, and in fact I would definitely choose the balcony again! If I had my choice, I’d have picked the center, but really I hardly noticed that we were all the way to the right. Once the movie came on, I didn’t notice at all.
I also sat down in the 3^rd row to check it out before heading to my seat, and it didn’t seem quite as neck-​breaking as some of the other up-​close seats I’ve been in before. I figured I’d check in case of a future popular showing where close seats were the only one available.
They also have boosters for kids, and I saw a lot of people using them.

This is best movie theater I’ve been to — easily. It is one part indie/​old-​school cinema, and other part high-​tech cinematic powerhouse.
This theater is straight-​up massive. There are two levels, and the screen is gigantic. Everything about this theater is grand. Did I mention that they have a reserved seat system as well? Or that they have local craft beers on tap?
I just love this theater. Paul Allen is clearly a movie geek who appreciates the old-​school cinemas, but loves cutting edge technology as you would expect from the Microsoft founder. Truly spectacular place.

I really don’t have anything bad to say about Cinerama. I love that you buy the seats in advance. You don’t have to show up crazy early to get decent seats and there are PLENTY of them to go around.
If you get the chocolate popcorn, the flavor may be a bit too much. I recommend the mix of regular and chocolate popcorn.
If you’re local, you should definitely check out the Cinerama at least once in your lifetime.

Watching a movie in a Cinerama is so different than a regular movie theater, but I really like it. BUT I’m not going to lie, what really drawn me in wasn’t because I’ve been dying to see the new Huntsman movie or the fact that this place was across from our hotel, it was the smell of the delicious chocolate popcorn that hooked me in! I really like the big screen and the seats at this theater. It is also a bonus that they have selected seating! Yes, it is on the pricier side but honestly, I wouldn’t mind coming back because you really do get what you pay for.

Chocolate popcorn tastes like the love child of kettle corn and coco puffs. It’s soooo good and addicting. It’s so good that I almost didn’t mind the girl chewing so loudly next to me. I reached for my bag of chocolate popcorn mid movie and proceeded to have a competition on who could chew the loudest while watching batman vs. superman. i think i won.
the seats in the theater recline but they do not stay in that position. i had to use all the force in my neck to keep the seat down. I got tired and just sat very upright for most of the movie. The seats are also leather which can make some people very warm, fyi. Other than that, the place is very clean and new. Also, another perk is that you can pick your seats when you buy tickets in advance. This saves you the burden of waiting in line an hour before a popular show and having to fight for good seats.
Overall, i would recommend this place, and the chocolate popcorn. yassss!

Cinerama is the real deal!
You know how sometimes you’d rather wait until the movie rolls out on other formats so that you can enjoy it in the comfort of your own home? Well trust me, Cinerama is BETTER than watching at home.
Seriously. You have the option to reserve your tickets in advance, which makes checking-​in very simple. Then, DON’T FORGET to buy the popcorn. Holy moly, the popcorn… I crave for the mix of buttery and Theo’s chocolate covered popcorn on a daily basis. You can also order beer and wine here. If you like Bravehorse Tavern’s pretzels, they sell them here too!
Once you grab your food and drinks, find your seat inside the theater. As soon as you sit down, you will understand what I mean why watching a movie at Cinerama is better than watching at home. The seats are so incredibly comfy, the screen is ginormous, and the sound is perfect. This is a great movie-​going experience you can’t miss.
FYI — Cinerama only shows one movie at a time, and usually chooses to play the highly anticipated/​popular films. Be sure to check out their website first.

I can’t believe I’ve never reviewed this place before! I love it! Gonna just give it title of best movie theater in Seattle and call it good.
I love that they let you buy tickets in advance so you can choose your seat and you don’t have to wait in line before the movie. It’s great for the really crowded movies. It’s a bit pricier at $ 16 a ticket. I wouldn’t come here every week but it’s great for splurging or for major movies with crowds.
The seats are also insanely comfy and you don’t have to hobble over a ton of people to go to the bathroom.
So I judge bathroom location in theaters a lot. If you’re on the top level, the bathroom can be a bit of a hike BUT they play the audio in the bathroom so at least you’re only half missing the movie!
As everyone mentioned, chocolate popcorn! Get the mixed kind because otherwise it’s sugar overload. There’s also alcoholic beverages and other goodies here. I usually go for a hard cider and sharing the mixed popcorn.
Oh man… now I’m craving some of that popcorn as I type!!!

love the ambience! love the staff! love the custom displays! love the food, beer, wine options! love the screen! love the top ceiling! love the seat selection option! but most of all… love the chocolate popcorn!!! I don’t eat popcorn very often, but I could NOT stop eating that popcorn.
one thing I did not love: seats on recline if you put your weight on it. for a girl nearing 100 lbs, it’s hard to sit back in that kind of seat.
I watched «10 cloverfield lane» here with my boyfriend and we had a great time. definitely going back for others!

I bow to you, oh Cinerama. You have schooled me on how amazing a modern day theater can be with your laser projection and delicious Atmos Dolby sound.
And, and, AND! They can play 70 mm film. All the face-​melts.
Speaking of face-​melts, when you walk in the front door, a you’re immediately nose deep in what smells like the world’s largest, warm, chocolate cookie. But it’s not cookies. It’s that life-​changing chocolate popcorn. Let me tell you… I hate chocolate. That popcorn was amazing and I will now get it every time I go there. I have tried some of the other snacks, like the pretzel and the cheese puffs. The pretzel was so good, but it really needed some cheese dip. And the cheese puffs were also tasty, however, we took them home to try them because we were too full.
Some other things I love about the theater…
— I’m weird, but I like that one movie plays there at a time.
— The display cases! Most recently they were filled with real costumes from original trilogy Star Wars films. I died and went to heaven.
— They play the audio of the movie in the restrooms so you don’t miss anything
— I can easily walk here, so parking doesn’t matter.
— Reserved seating
Things that are just OK…
— The chairs are alright. But I’m not a huge fan of seats that only recline when you push your weight against them. I wish they were more like the recliners at the renovated AMC Theaters.

Cinerama is arguably the best movie theater in Seattle. It is top-​notch, a cinematic must-​see. The theater revamped in 2014 that features high-​tech surround sound system and the laser projection system. Reserved seating in advance are offered so there is no need to wait in line and sprint to seats when the auditorium doors open.
For me, the biggest appeal for choosing cinerama over any other theaters (besides being able to sip on beer/​wine) is the renowned chocolate popcorn. I like to take the leftovers home and munch on it for the next couple of days — it tastes just as delicious. Take my advice, oh you are welcome.

When my guest comes to town I’m taking him here. I saw Star Wars in 3d somewhere else and in 2d here and I admit it was better here. They have classic movies and you can buy your ticket and reserve a seat in advance. Great food. Someday I will see a movie in 3d here and get my socks knocked off.

Best popcorns, and good local draft beers, and comfortable seat with 360 degree Dolby sound system and a huge screen.
Plus, you can reserve your seat in advance.

You go to regal or amc for movies like Pineapple Express, you go to the Cinerama for movies like Star Wars, you don’t go to movie theaters for movies with Adam Sandler in them — you never see those movies. What happened to you, Adam Sandler?
If you want to make seeing a movie an event, the Cinerama is the place to do it. There’s always sweet movie memorabilia, you can drink beer while you watch the movie (so sick), they have chocolate covered popcorn, and the seats are plush AF, but the best part is the assigned seats. It’s so nice to not have to worry about where you’re sitting.
Well done, Cinerama. You emasculate cinema.

I just saw Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the Cinerama with my husband! It was TOTALLY worth every penny we spent; movie, parking, concessions! The Chocolate popcorn and pretzels are
AH-​Mazing! My husband loved having a beer while enjoying a great movie. AWESOME assigned seating… super awesome chairs. Great experience and we WILL be going back!

I have 6 movie theatres within walking distance, but this one is absolutely the BEST.
BEST digital projection, screen, and sound system. Yeah, there’s the Boeing IMAX at PSC, but honestly IMAX is not always the best format for all movies and the set-​up at Cinerama is so much better.
Concessions are unique and not over-​priced! Chocolate covered popcorn mixed with a bit of the regular is the best. You can get beer/​wine if you want, they have some other interesting treats as well as normal theatre candy and fancy candy choices. And… you can bring your cup of coffee in with you! I went to toss my still ½ full cup of coffee before entering last time and they told me not to — bring it on in. :)
Go on-​line, pick your seat, and come early to enjoy the memerobelia in the lobby, looking at the starry sky ceiling, and then watching a few classic cartoons before the movie begins.

Beer.
AWESOME cushy assigned seats.
Cool movie memorabilia.
NO sticky floors.
ALL at reasonable prices.
Top it off with the fact that this place is a local landmark and you really can’t beat Cinerama!

Way to go Cinerama! They turned a potentially heartbreaking scenario into a great customer service experience. My boyfriend and I had gotten Star wars tickets, and were getting ready to head out for the 7pm showing; only to discover that our tickets had been for 3pm… eeek! we wanted to cry! so we went down to see what they could do. But instead, they simply scanned the old ticket to make sure it had’t been used and printed tickets for the 7pm show. To say we were relieved is an understatement!
Plus, all the other things we love about Cinerama; Assigned seating, big comfy seats, and Chocolate popcorn!

@SeattleCinerama ‘Seattle’s Most Epic Movie Experience’ I took a friend to see The Force Awakens this afternoon. And the sound cut out twice! It doesn’t matter that the were short breaks in the sound. It was long enough if people were able to start booing. One guy screamed ‘you ruined my Christmas!’ It was my friend’s first time seeing #TFA. Unacceptable!
I was just there on Thursday and enjoyed it. But after what happened today… I may never return to Cinerama!

I have not been here for such a long time but I hear that they renovated twice since I last have been here.
The seats were nice and they made an effort to try and copy (not movie) Theaters as they had a balcony tier like the paramount and 5^th ave does. Unfortunately, they must have built it thinking people are only 5 feet tall. If sitting behind someone, it is most likely going to give you an obstructed view up there.
The next two reasons why I gave this place a three star instead of a four was:
* The whole place smelled way too strong of burnt chocolate as they offer a chocolate popcorn option. It’s all good but the smell is really in your face. I know casinos that do a better job of venting the place to not have smoke in it, if they can do that, you can at least give us a little better breathing space.
* The lobby area is small for the amount of seats you can sell. The place was packed and crazy (yes, I arrived early and was in the front of the line) so if you need to go back to the concession, don’t hold your breath, you should have gotten everything in one trip. Also, there is no control over the line since the concession cashier to the back wall is very short and it will promote the douchier people to just cut in front of you like you don’t exist. The concession area ratio to seating is bad here.
The service is a bit thirsty. I was being guilted pretty hard for more tips by the guy behind the counter even after giving him a $ 5 tip for my $ 5 hotdog. he still wanted more and made inappropriate comments to try and juice me. Not sure what the logic was since I wanted to take my initial tip back. That guy might just ruin tips for everyone in the future.
Top note: because of the ratio space between lobby and venue, if you are required to wait for a movie, it will be on the outside of the building so bring your coats and expect them to smell like burnt chocolate when you get out. It seems that even after two renovations, it was about how to make the most money and put more seats in like an airline rather than being courteous to the consumer.

This theater is fantastic! Seriously — I love, love, love the assigned seating. The seats are SUPER comfortable, the prices on concessions are comparable to other theaters — chocolate popcorn, yes please! The theater is clean and the folks working are always nice. Often times it’s the customers who seem to be in surly moods. It’s fun to be able to take your beer /​wine back to your seat.
Helpful hint — if you’re not sure you want to commit to a bag of chocolate popcorn, ask for a sample. You’ll be hooked in no time.
Park in the lot across the street (under the monorail). It’s the most convenient and reasonably priced.

Sometimes big budget movies just need the right venue. And if you are looking for a venue in Seattle what better place to go than Cinerama. Ok so it’s true, they are downtown and they don’t have parking like your normal suburban theater. But that may be the only negative. Being downtown just means that you have more options for dinner before you go see the movie. Might I recommend Lola, Palace Kitchen or Serious Pie.
Once you get to the theater you will be treated to multilevel seating, plush reclining seats that are step above what you would get in even the newest cinemas. And for those of you who think every great movie should be accompanied by a nice red wine or microbrew they have that. They serve chocolate popcorn which isn’t necessarily my thing but a lot of people rave about. For more popular movies I suggest you purchase your ticket online and reserve that ideal seat. **Insider tip, your ideal movie watching experience will be in the center of Row I.

So I’m writing this review while I’m still in the middle of my trip which goes to show how awesome this theater is when I’m über excited to write about it.
I really like going to landmark theaters when traveling, so when I read about the Cinerama, I had to squeeze in some time to watch a movie. It was also great timing, that the one movie this theater shows while I’m in town, is The Martian, which I haven’t seen yet (until tonight)
The time I chose happened to be the 3D version, which I typically don’t care for, but this was advertised as «special high-​brightness version.» The cost was $ 16.50 when I purchased online to reserve my seat. ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT. And this is coming from a gal who only buys Costco price tickets ($ 8.50) or goes to the cheaper theaters ($ 6 Sundays) to watch a movie. Never do I pay full price.
But I happily paid for this one.
For one, the theater is beautiful. Very comfortable seats. You get to reserve your seat so there’s no fumbling about. There are balcony seats which I took advantage of.
Concessions include Chocolate popcorn and Butter popcorn that you can mix in 1 bag, which I did. The chocolate part reminded me of cocoa puffs! Popcorn is reasonably priced at $ 5/​$ 6/​$ 7, There is also local beer, some popular local ice cream (Full Tilt), and other local snacks (Uli Sausage, Epic Cookies, and more)
The movie in it’s «special high-​brightness» form was indeed very bright and crystal clear. A far cry from «regular» 3D versions and it didn’t need IMAX proportions.
The lobby also has movie costumes on display, from Star Trek, to Last Samurai, to Austin Powers and more.
If you have a movie that you’re excited to watch, or want to make going to the theaters special again, this place is it! :)

I haven’t seen a movie at the Cinerama for ages since often the one movie they’re showing is one I don’t want to watch. But their recent Fan Fest series brought me back. We watched The Wizard of Oz on the gigante screen = heaven for two Technicolor hours.
The Hubs and I got a medium popcorn with half of mixed butter and chocolate on the bottom and half butter on top. Make sense? He can’t eat much chocolate and I can’t eat much popcorn, so we opted towards more butter popcorn so The Hubs could eat more. Damn, the chocolate/​butter mix was good! Worth the splurge.
Also, it’s AWESOME to have reserved seats. You can just roll in 5 – 10 minutes before the show. Worth the full price ticket. So now I’m checking the Cinerama site often ’cause I’m definitely coming back.

With the remodel the seats are even more comfy! They recline… They’re so luxurious!
AND the Cinerama now has beer and wine and more reasonably priced snacks!!!
PLUS they’ve started doing fun film series and expanding their offerings.

I thought the old Cinerama was incredible but Rhett revamped spot is really the only place where I want top watch as movie.
Unusual for Seattle they have assigned seating which is super convenient. And you can easily book online and see what is available. We lose the centerv row F.
The confessions are super reasonable and we really like the mixed popcorn. In many ways wet are sop glad that Paul Allen supports Seattle but selfishly this is the best way for us.

I would definitely have to say this place ties for my second favorite movie theater in the Seattle area — #1 being iPics in Redmond and #2 being the big new movie theater in Issaquah Highlands with its amazingly comfortable seats.
It’s kind of cool that this theater only shows one movie at a time. It makes it seem like when you’re going and the movie you want to see is playing, that you’re kind of a big deal. Maybe it’s just me.
The theater has amazing sound, a huge screen, and I feel like there’s not a bad seat in the house. The best part is when you enter the theater, you’re immediately hit in the face with the heavenly scent of CHOCOLATE. Like, good chocolate… maybe mixed with hazelnut. Eating chocolate makes me sick but I made my husband order buy a bag of it because I couldn’t resist. I can honestly say it was worth the migraine. :)
I’d come here to see the big summer blockbusters and action-​type movies just because the sound is so good in here.

Austin Powers movie costume sums this place all up: Yeah Baaby!!! Downtown HD movie viewing at its most comfortable and clean, unlike Loews or AMC downtown. $ 15 is a high ticket price tho, wondering if one may rather go with the IMAX experience a few minutes away at the Pac Sci Center, but after considering the aforementioned luxuries the decision is up to you.

1^st time back to Cinerama in years, glad I came back after this wonderful renovation!
I will be definitely seeing more movies here from now on. Getting tickets is super easy, you can do it old school by going up to the ticket window or just order online (highly recommeded) because you can choose your seats and upon arrival just show them your printed out e-​ticket or they can scan your phone.
The food there is definitely better than any of the other theatres around, especially the popcorn. The chocolate top notes hits your nose as you enter making your stomach growl… or at least it did with me. Who are you kidding, you know we got the large chocolate popcorn! They also have hot dogs, pretzels, candies, Full Tilt ice cream, and beer & wine.
Inside the theatre is nice, new seats, totally more leg room so you aren’t getting hit in the back of the head by someone’s knees, plenty of room to lean back in your seat and great views of the screen with amazing sound quality.
Pricing is fine, totally worth it, glad I came back to see a movie here and checking the schedule now to see which movies are coming soon!

CHOCOLATE POPCORN!
Honestly I thought it sounded gross despite all the fan photos on Unilocal here, and the smell was even a little nauseating when I walked through the theater lobby, rushing a few minutes late for the start of the film.
But since this was my first time at the famous Cinerama, I had to try it, and skittled out during the movie and got a small mixed bag of chocolate and butter popcorn for $ 5. The serving was definitely big enough for two or three people.
In my opinion, it was no mixed bag for me! I mean, it was 100% delicious!
The chocolate popcorn was crunchy especially the pieces with an extra layer on chocolate — think: kettle corn! And I loved having that blend of savory and sweet — think: Garrett’s gourmet blend in Chicago!
I would never take home popcorn from a movie theater, but oh hey, you’re now going on an all-​expense paid trip inside my Samsonite. Yep, that crunchy chocolate corn was that good.
Regarding the actual theater, I went during their 8 days of Oscar where they are playing a different Best Picture nominee each day. I caught «Whiplash,» and the quality was one of the clearest I’ve seen and surround sound quality was terrific, really terrific for watching a movie about jazz drumming! But I was really oversold on the size of this screen. It’s pretty much like the big new, slightly curved screens back home at many multiplexes in San Diego. Plus, I have been spoiled by the huge movie houses near UCLA where they host movie premieres. I did like that you could recline (think: plane seat recline limits, not Cinepolis full-​tilt-​and-​sleep).
$ 15 is the ticket price for all Cinerama show times, pretty steep when it only costs $ 2.75 to go from SEA-​TAC airport to downtown Seattle, but nonetheless worth a visit. There were eight actual movie costumes on display in the lobby, including the Obi-​Wan kenobi robe. Saved me from having to deal with crowds at the Star Wars special exhibit at EMP right now (wink, wink).
