In efforts of getting in touch with my Basque background I googled. I was pleasantly surprised to find a Seattle based Basque club! And to my surprise there was a dinner tonight! The president, Danielle, replied immediately and off I was. I willingly paid the membership and the dinner cover. I was welcomed with open arms, and they made me feel like I was part of family from the moment I walked in. I walked in with a bottle of wine, «you brought wine, you’re a good Basque!» Conchita’s tortilla(Basque omelet) was amazing, and I even got to BBQ with Fidel. I felt like I was just hanging-out with family. I bbq’d, cloth-dried dishes, took out the garbage and drank like a Basque! Just like a family get-together! Let me tell you, Basque can drink you under the table, and that’s just the women! Grenache, anyone?! I left the dinner tipsy and with a new family. Oh! The Basque women: beautiful! I enjoyed a nice conversation with a few hottie Vascas. :sigh: I was also asked to form part of the board, but declined for the moment. Something tells me they were sugar coating it. =) So many questions were answered tonight. «Are you Greek? Italian? What are you?» I’m Basque. The nose gives it away. I look forward to the next meet-up in Bellingham and getting to hang-out with the Basque hotties.
