Description

Specialties

Comprehensive choral education and musical development for girls between the ages of 6 – 18.

Seattle Girls’ Choir offers six choir levels for girls who love to sing in a supportive environment, while making lifelong friends.

Supported by highly qualified faculty, SGC has strong emphasis on musical training and skill development. Girls not only learn how to sing, but they become independent and well-trained musicians in their own right.

The top group, Prime Voci, made up of high school girls is featured each year on the Argosy Christmas ships, and they tour and compete internationally on a regular basis.

We also offer week-long summer day camps (some for boys and girls) as well as a week-long overnight camp on the Olympic Peninsula.

Auditions take place in June, August, and January.

Rehearsals are on Capitol Hill near Volunteer Park.

Call us for more information at 206−526−1900.

History

Established in 1982.

Founded in 1982, SGC provides a comprehensive and progressive choral education with an emphasis on classical music and ensemble performance, music theory and composition for girls in the Puget Sound region between the ages of 6 and 18. During their years with the choir, the girls gradually acquire musical and performance skills appropriate for their level of development, from the youngest singers in our Dolcine choir, ages 6 – 7, to our most accomplished high school aged Prime Voci choir. The choir regularly collaborates with other Seattle area arts organizations and performs at some of the most prestigious national and international choral festivals and competitions.
