History

Established in 2000.

Dr. Lawlor founded Seattle Skin and Laser in February 2000 and added a second location in Edmonds in 2007. In addition to Dr. Lawlor, we’ve added two dermatologists, a physician assistant, a nurse, and a licensed aesthetician who perform a wide range of medical and cosmetic treatments.

Dr. Lawlor is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and holds the title of Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine (Dermatology) at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He has been recognized as one of Seattle’s «Top Doctors» by Seattle Magazine. Dr. Lawlor continues to enjoy all aspects of Dermatology. He has special interests and expertise in the treatment of skin cancer and laser medicine and surgery.

Office staff is friendly, Joanie is awesome for tattoo removal, but the wait times are out of control for any doctor. When I schedule an appointment first thing in the morning and still have to wait 45 minutes to see Dr Lawlor for a 5 min follow up appointment, something is wrong with how they are running things. I’ve been to many other derm offices before and never had an issue. When this happens once, that can be understandable. This has now happened 3 times in a row and one nurse said always expect to wait 30 minutes. They need to focus a little more on patients and their appointment time v overbooking to make money.

After my horrible experience with Monica Edenholm at SSL I was invited to come back into the office to see a different doctor. My appointment was with Dr. Lawlor and my experience with him was completely different than my experience with Ms. Edenholm. He listened to me, he believed me, he was compassionate and ultimately took care of the issue. I ended up needing surgery and I will be following up with Dr. Lawlor in a couple of weeks. I believe Dr. Lawlor to be very knowledgeable and I would not hesitate to see him again if any other issue should arise which falls under his area of expertise. He also apologized for Monica’s treatment of me because obviously the woman does not have enough class to apologize to me herself.

Tattoo removal experience is excellent with this team. My first few visits were very scary, but Joanie got me through. :)
Years later, I sought her opinion on mole removal at the office. A few weeks later, Dr. Lawlor helped me get through my mole excisions, including two on my face. My results are coming along VERY well. Comparing my experience to others and youtube vids, mine was much, much better cosmetically, pain level-wise, price-wise, everything. Dr, Lawlor and team are the best!

I went to Dr. Spoonesmith to have her check over my impressive collection of moles, especially the ones that appear to be turning into additional appendages on my body. Not awesome, I know. This is short and sweet; she was awesome, friendly and informative. The wait time was very short and the front desk person was polite. I will definitely use them again.

I saw Monica today, and I had an amazing experience. She took the time to listen to me and gave several options to treat my acne. She was very honest and very willing to help me out. I was pretty nervous walking into my tattoo removal appointment. This is something I’ve been kicking around for years and fretted mightily about turning a small tattoo into something that was either worse, or no better.
I appreciated the technicians honesty about what to expect as well as her «less is more» approach. She indicated it’s possible my tattoo will dissipate after just one treatment but thought it was likely 2 – 3 would be necessary. That said, she suggested giving many months between treatments to allow the body to remove as much ink as possible.
After 5 days, I’m starting to see the immediate results (initially it looks much like a burn– so you can’t really see what’s going on). Some areas are completely lacking in ink with significant lightening throughout.

I was worried about a couple of bleeding moles (turns out they were seborrheic keratosis) and the clinic got me an appointment within a couple of days. I saw Dr. Spoonemore. She gave me a thorough examination and (finally) reassured me that I do not have skin cancer. At the last minute, I asked if she could remove a rather large SK on my face and it was taken care of within 15 minutes– for about ½ to ¼ the price that other clinics quoted. Dr. S is very friendly and reassuring. I will go back to this clinic if I have any other dermatology concerns. I’m very pleased with the results and service.

I’ve been going here for years for various treatments, ranging from accutane to tattoo removal and little things in between. Both accutane and tattoo removal require monthly visits, which can be incredibly inconvenient when you work full time as I do. However, the clinic schedule and office staff are so helpful they make it an absolute breeze to get it done. I was always seen right on time and they got me in and out quickly and professionally. So refreshing to have a place that respects my time and schedule, and they provide top notch services. Highly recommend!

I’ve seen Monica Edenholm for several years at Seattle Skin and Laser. She has seen me for both skin issues (acne and suspicious moles) as well as for some cosmetic procedures. Monica has also treated my children… but not for cosmetics:). She is compassionate and knowledgable and I have complete confidence in her. She’s been able to squeeze me in at the last minute when needed and is responsive to additional questions.
One of my suspicious moles required a larger excision by Dr. Lawlor and the nurse called me right away to explain the results and set up an appointment with Dr. Lawlor for the procedure. It was quick and painless and there is hardly any scar there now :)

I’m writing this from my husband’s account because I don’t have a Unilocal account… I went to see Monica Edenholm in the Seattle location for a chronic rash that I’ve had my whole life. It would come and go, come and go. I went to another dermatologist who gave me a ointment that actually created a worse problem. Monica quickly diagnosed me and gave me the right cream and meds to use to clear it up. She also did allergy testing and suggested a permanent skin care regimen for me to use that wouldn’t irritate my skin, was vegan and wasn’t tested on animals. I really appreciated that. I am now finally rash free and my skin hasn’t looked this good in ages. She was professional, and encouraging that the damage that had been done by past creams could be reversed. I had lost hope but she made me feel relieved and excited that I could look forward to clear skin. Now I don’t live in fear of never knowing when it will pop up.

Some of the people are very nice here, but some are not, and the office has been getting more disorganized and not very clean. Last time I was in, the room had not been cleaned after the patient before me. The paper on the exam table was all scrunched up and used, and there was a tray with the leavings from some medical procedure — used tissues, specimen jars, a used syringe! Three different people who worked there came in and out and just ignored it. Kind of shocking.

I visited SSL and saw Monica Edenholm to talk about some skin issues that started when I was pregnant. She was very understanding and related my problem to something she had dealt with also, which made me feel better about being there. She tried laser and moved me to a special lotion when that didn’t work. She didn’t try pushing additional services on me that she knew wouldn’t help my skin. She was honest with me and I’d definitely go back to see her. Great office!

I have been seeing Dr. Lawlor for over 10 years and he is the best. I have had a chronic skin condition my whole life and he has been nothing but kind and understanding. My condition is not an instant fix but he has worked with me to find a realistic method to try out next.
Through the front desk they have worked with me regarding insurance and appointment times. The wait it very minimal and the waiting room itself quite comfortable. Parking is ample and the location itself easy to find.
I have tried a couple of places to see if there was anything better and honesty I was nearly appalled. I highly recommend Seattle Skin and Dr. Lawlor. They really are the best in the city.
