Dr. Goraya and her staff were professional, patient, extremely skilled, kind, and accommodating. I called to set an appointment and there were immediate openings at convenient times. I got an appointment the next day for x-​rays, teeth cleaning, a check up, and a referral to get my wisdom teeth extracted. I got an appointment later in the same week to get my cavities filled.
In the past, the x-​rays and teeth cleaning procedures have been very painful for me and caused me much anxiety. After visiting Dr. Goraya’s office, I can now boast to all my friends and also strangers on Unilocal that I had THE BEST experience at the dentist’s office EVER. As soon as I stepped into the beautifully designed, and very clean dental office, I was greeted by a professional and kind receptionist. When I got in the dental chair, I was given sunglasses to wear so the dentist’s light wouldn’t shine in my eyes. Another sign they cared about the comfort of their patients.
During the x-​ray and teeth cleaning procedures, the dental assistant and Dr. Goraya worked calmly and swiftly. They are kind and genuine people when greeting you, and when it is time to do their job, they take it very seriously. No annoying small talk, no unnecessary commentary between each other or the patient. Just two very skilled professionals communicating quietly with each other and doing their job well. Using the advance equipment in her office, Dr. Goraya cleaned my teeth. There was some pain because there’s always pain when you go to the dentist, but this was the least painful and most thorough teeth cleaning I’ve ever had. Dr. Goraya is like the Beyonce of dentists. Just so good at her job. At the end of the cleaning, she informed me about the state of my teeth, next steps, and recommendations. She answered my questions about my wisdom teeth concisely and in a way a person like me with no medical training could understand. The dental assistant polished my teeth, flossed them, and put fluoride on them. Standard procedures at the dentist, but what stood out was how thoroughly but gently the assistant performed these procedures. Before I left, the receptionist wrote me a referral to a facility that would be able to extract my wisdom teeth under anesthesia.
I thought the real test of their professionalism was how they handled filling in my 6 cavities. They approached the procedure with extreme skill. Not even the numbing shots hurt that much, and that’s usually the worst part with those huge unsightly needles. This was certainly the least painful and most thorough and professional experience I’ve ever had at the dentist’s office! Dr. Goraya and her assistant work extremely well together. They did my 6 fillings and it took them no longer than an hour and a half… maybe even less. They apologized for the procedure «taking so long» but actually that was the smoothest, quickest, least fumbled, and close to painless fillings procedure I have ever had done.
I WOULD GIVE THESE HARD WORKING, KIND, PATIENT, EXTREMELY SKILLED PROFESSIONALS 10 STARS IF COULD!!!

First of all I don’t understand the negative reviews. I am in the healthcare field (20 years) and have worked with all kinds of physicians and this doctor of dentistry knows what she’s doing.
I went in to visit Dr. Goraya for a full cleaning, X-​Rays, and some help with some trouble teeth. The exterior of the building isn’t much to look at however don’t let looks fool you. Her practice on the inside is new and has state of the art equipment. The doctor is extremely thorough, gentle, and has spent more time than any other previous dentist cleaning my teeth and addressing my questions.
I don’t have the best dental insurance yet she was more than willing to work with me to get my oral health in optimal shape. She is a relatively young doctor and is building her practice and currently sees all kinds of patients. Her staff is professional and I would recommend her to any friends or family. She is going to become my permanent dentist for years to come.

On my second visit to Seattle’s Family Dentistry I needed x-​rays and routine cleaning. My high opinion of Dr. Gorbaya’s practice was again confirmed. It seems to me she has assembled a first-​rate dental office, and the staff she has chosen reflect her high standards. The office appears quite new and the technology up-​to-​date. For example, she uses digital x-​ray imaging, as opposed to film, and for cleaning uses a sonic cleaner as opposed to the more traditional scraping approach, resulting in much less pain and discomfort for someone like me with gum recession. I was also impressed that Dr. Gorbaya did the cleaning personally. I highly recommend this dental practice.

First off, I want to say that the Doctor and everyone in this office are very pleasant and professional and I believe they are doing their best based on their training and the current conventions of the industry. I have received less-​than-​desirable results in the past when I made the common choice to blindly *trust* the dental establishment as a whole. This latest experience was actually the catalyst to my decision to seek alternative dental treatment that is far less invasive. Hopefully this review will caution someone to ponder about what may be going on in your mouth and body when someone is «cleaning» your teeth: scraping, poking and prodding, potentially spreading bacteria to other areas. I know a little about cross-​contamination, and this doesn’t seem outside the realm of possibility for me… These are just my own reflections based on my experience and observations of the potential damage that conventional dentistry could be causing others, and has definitely caused me.
I went to this dentist to get a cleaning that would be covered under Medicaid. Again, I have to thank them for helping me realize that there may be some other motivation to the conventional dental industry as a whole, besides what it seems on the surface. I already knew about some gum recession I had, and exactly where it was in my mouth. After a very uncomfortable 45 minutes of rough scraping and poking and «cleaning» below the gum line, I now have major gum recession in at least four *other* teeth that were not even on the radar before this appointment. Over the past few months I’ve watched in dismay as the gum tissue around the teeth that received the most «attention,» continues to recede. I’ve had increased sensitivity/​pain and will likely need some expensive treatments to fix my «complimentary cleaning.» I might also add that I am only 27 and have excellent oral hygiene, diet and exercise, so there’s really no other reason I would have such severe gum recession that is clearly connected to this latest procedure. I learned a very valuable, painful, lesson after this experience, and am now on a mission to find something better.

I absolutely love this place. I get right in, they are so friendly and the dentist is thorough and a delight. I have recommended this location to all my family & friends! My boyfriend goes here as well and is just as impressed. Will be going back in 6 months and looking forward to it.

I recently obtained dental insurance via Medicaid. Although I’ve seen another dentist (and have been happy with that dentist) for a number of years, I was looking forward to having insurance cover the cost of my appointment. As Dr Goraya was one of the few dentists in Seattle who accepts Medicaid, I made an appointment with Dr Goraya at Seattle’s Family Dentistry rather than seeing my typical dentist.
I checked for online reviews of Dr. Goraya before scheduling the appointment, but I wasn’t able to find many reviews (hence my wanting to share my experience on Unilocal).
Firstly, my appointment was scheduled first thing in the morning at 10:00am. I was told to arrive to the office 10 minutes early for paperwork. I arrived 15 minutes early. The door was locked, and no one was in the parking lot. An employee finally pulled up and let me into the office at 9:55am.
Once I got into the exam room, a very young man, who lacked confidence and who was doused in way too much cologne, took my x-​rays. Perhaps technology has changed, but I typically have had 2 dental x-​rays per year. The man took multiple x-​rays of the front of my mouth before finally asking if I had a nose piercing (which I did). Apparently the metal was confusing him, hence multiple unnecessary x-​rays. After 6 x-​rays, I asked the man if we were almost done, as I wasn’t wanting to be exposed to this much radiation. The man said I wasn’t being exposed because of the protective chest covering I was wearing. (Hmmm…) He finally finished after 7 x-​rays.
Then the dentist came in and scraped around my teeth a bit. I have a permanent retainer in my mouth, which often requires extra attention. The dentist confirmed I had no cavities.
The appointment ended with a polishing. The young man who took the x-​rays did the polishing. I kept track of where he polished in my mouth, and he failed to polish a whole section of my teeth (the bottom, right, inside of my teeth). After the polishing, he flossed my teeth. He didn’t bother to floss where my retainer was located, nor did he bother to floss the teeth in the back corners of my mouth. Also, he was extremely sloppy with the water sprayer and the sucking tool. At the end of the appointment, there was so much fluoride in my mouth that I took a swig of water from my water bottle once I left the office and spit out the fluoride on the parking lot pavement.
Oh, and I didn’t even get a free toothbrush when I left. Not that I care, but I thought every dentist did that.
In a nutshell, I was sorely disappointed by the service provided. I will not be returning to Seattle’s Family Dentistry. In my opinion, it would have been better for me to pay for my annual cleaning out-​of-​pocket. If you’re looking for a fantastic dentist, I recommend my usual dentist, Dr. Sarah Fraker at Green Lake Dental Care.

I came in because it had been two years since my last checkup and I had recently seen this place going up on the corner of Northgate and Aurora. I thought I had a cavity so I figured I’d get it checked out. The office was clean (and new), the staff was courteous, and it was basically what I would expect from a dentist’s office. Dr. Goraya was very friendly and took the time to thoroughly answer all my questions, which is something I don’t get very often with dentists. Also they gave me some trendy sunglasses so the overhead light wouldn’t get in my eyes… very cool idea.
The cost was reasonable compared to other dentists I’ve been to. (Turns out it wasn’t a cavity but a filling from many years ago that had fallen out.) I also got their cleaning special, and I’m pretty sure I’ve never had a more thorough cleaning in my life.
