Great place for a drink! The ambiance was nice and cozy. I think this would be a nice place for a date pretty intimate. I remember the music starting off decently, and then it just got worse and worse and louder, it was odd. We only ordered the smoked almonds because we were going to eat somewhere else, they were pretty good. They had a decent beer selection and great prices for their large beers, I think it was $ 6 for 22 oz if I remember correctly. I’ll definitely be back for dinner or in the very least their cobbler which looks amazing.

My partner and I shared the pecan porkchop and fries. OMG it was amazing!!! So moist and juicy, the fries were perfect and their garlic aoli is to die for. I also had a lavender cider they had on tap. Not sure that its my favorite cider ever but it was interesting.

It’s weird to be in Seattle in a Seattle-themed restaurant. Is so much of the city disappearing that we need a Seattle-themed bar? I guess so, because despite the faux dive bar décor, it has delicious drinks and appetizers. Don’t pass on the popcorn – it’s tasty. Just, like, look around, and realize that this place is what Seattle is becoming. A parody of itself.

Customer service is great here very nice staff. My problem is the price. The food here is good, just not worth the price tag. The prices are outrageous. That and that alone is why I won’t be back. I’m sorry shingle town you’re just too pricey. $ 12 cocktails and small plates $ 13.

Totally refreshing change of pace in Ballard. No TVs, good food and service. Nice place to bring a group without distractions – has the nice garage type doors in front which are open when it’s nice out.

Don’t let the name turn you away, Shingletown is my new staple in Ballard. A quality cocktail lounge that has a Ballard hipster-rustic feel. As soon as you walk in everything feels comfortable and at ease. The lighting is intimate, the staff is causual and accomidating, and the selection is for all tastes. I instantly fell in love with this place when I ordered my usual(dirty martini) and the olives included were my favorite spanish Castelvetranos. If you haven’t tried this olive then you haven’t lived. It is that attention to detail and quality that will keep me a loyal customer thus forth, and hope to appeal others to follow suit. Cheers. P. Great vibe and great drinks. I checked this place out the first weekend they were open and was impressed. They had excellent service and we felt welcomed.

Cool new place but needs some more flushing out. I like that it’s related to the Ballard Loft and generally has a pretty nice atmosphere but somehow there was a disconnect from the casual/hip vibe vs what was on the menu vs the prices and even the presentation. Hard to put my finger on but for kind of a hip, casual joint it seemed overpriced for even basic things– and though I do love all kinds of food the menu seemed trying a bit to hard to be «upscale» when the vibe/attitude did not feel that way at all. Why so much Calimari? Just seemed like some messy direction/design but like any new place, it could easily be flushed out to be more coherant.

All I can say is ‘Wow’!!! The ambiance is warm & inviting! Walking down the street I was immediately drawn to it. I love that it pays homage to the history of Ballard. I know this due to our amazing bar tender, Josh. Seriously the nicest guy ever! We are from out of town so we wanted the scoop on all great things local. He killed it! He gave us an amazing list with so many recommendations… it’s amazing! Every place has been on point! This place has a great drink selection! Lots of local draft selections & some great prohibition style craft cocktails. We had the house made potato chips which were sooooo good! Better than homemade! Thank you Josh & the rest of the lovely staff! You are amazing and we will definitely be back!

We popped in for a couple appetizers and cocktails this weekend after a friend recommended it… the menu, drinks, and tap list all looked good on the website, so we figured we’d give it a try. 5 stars for the drinks: I had a maple old fashioned that was to die for, he had the pisco punch which he really enjoyed. We were also impressed with the selection of local brews they had on tap. We went with the duck confit poutine and the mussels of the day. Underwhelmed by the poutine, surprisingly; not very duck-y, and both of us ended up salting our order(this coming from someone who rarely salts her food… and this was poutine…). The mussels, however, were mind-blowingly delicious. Cooked in some sort of coconut milk(curry sauce, maybe? We didn’t ask), there was an ample amount for two, plus a small side of bread to finish up that amazing sauce. Ambience was nice, staff was friendly, service speed was impressive for the level of business they had. I’d return for the drinks and appetizers, but the menu prices seemed a bit high for entrées, considering the disappointment that was the poutine. But again, those MUSSELS: very memorable.

So if I was coming here just for drinks it might have a better review. My boyfriend’s stout was probably the only decent stout I’ve had in this city. Also, the décor and service were very good. The food was overpriced for the flavor and portion. I would literally expect half the price for what we ordered. It would be acceptable if the flavor was amazing. However, that is not the case. I felt like every dish was missing something. I can’t tell you the food was awful but I don’t think it is well balanced enough to please the palette. This restaurant has good intentions. I would just like them to make their food more flavorful. They only get s three star for their good intentions. Modify somethings!

Shingletown has really great ambience. The interior is warm, and cute and has a great vibe overall. The staff was really friendly and the beer is tasty(although not cheap). My two issues. 1. The price 2. The food The food, and the drinks were extremely under par, especially considering the price. My girlfriend, who is vegetarian, ordered the Rosemary Greyhound($ 11), the grilled asparagus($ 6) and the cauliflower gratin(6). She wasn’t at all happy with the greyhound, and commented that it tasted mostly like water. The cauliflower looked microwaved(no joke. it did), and was beyond greasy. I ordered the Porchetta sandwich which is Herb roasted pork shoulder, provolone, pepperoncini, ciabatta. It came with fries. The sandwich was so so. Had good flavors, but definitely NOT something I was thrilled to pay $ 13 for. The fries tasted and had the consistency of fries that had been sitting out ALL day. We went to dinner at around 7pm, so everything should be fresh! It’s not like I’m getting a 3am meal. I really wanted this place to be successful. It’s so damn cute inside and the ambience really is terrific. Unfortunately, the prices are WAY too high for what you get. I can think of a handful of places around town to get a way better quality, chef prepared sandwich for half the price. Sadly I don’t think Shingletown will last long with the current chef and menu that they have. The food just isn’t good and not at all worth the high price.

Why did Sean Connery walk into Shingle Town? Cause he thought it would be a great place to meet singles… Now that the joke is out there, I didn’t really think this place has must to offer. Great idea and I love to see the Ave change and grow but there is a lot of room for this place to change in. I think a host should sit down people waiting at the front instead of a free for all to avoid customers waiting at a table for 15 minutes. Service should also be a hospitable than just doing a job. Look I can go get poutine and a drink anywhere but service will bring me back in.

I get the impression that Shingletown is trying really hard to be something that it’s not. That’s not to say it can’t improve and there isn’t potential there, but my experience there would preclude me from going back in the near future. Met a few friends here for a drink and a bite last Saturday night and really didn’t enjoy much of my experience. The food was not good and overpriced. I highly recommend that you stay away from the cured meat plate. It ended up being Extra Virgin Olive Oil soup rather than a meat plate. I’m also pretty confident that the cheese that comes with it is simply chopped up string cheese sticks. Just… bleh. Calamari was okay. Nothing really remarkable about it. The menu says«lemon caper aioli», but I tasted neither lemon nor capers in there. The Bacalao bites were basically a nondescript mash of salty fried dough. And the poutine– easily one of my favorite bar bites to get while enjoying a cocktail/beer– was abysmal. It had the same chopped up string cheese mozzarella pieces on there. The fries were decent in that they tasted like McD fries, but the cheese and the duck confit were lacking. Either Beecher’s has really let their cheese game slip, or someone in the kitchen figured that cheeseheads would suffice. I can say that I enjoyed my Maple Old Fashioned. I didn’t really taste the mapley-ness of the maple syrup in there(in place of the simple syrup), but it was good nonetheless. A little sweeter than your typical old fashioned, but that wasn’t bad. The beer selection is decent, but the prices will make you feel like you’re at a Mariner’s game if you get anything on draft. Holy cow. Service was decent. Not too slow. The waiter forgot my beer order and I had to ask twice for my order. The décor is nice. Kinda rustic woodsy lodge type of thing. Overall, I think Shingletown oversells and under delivers. It may very well be because it’s new, but first run was unimpressive for me. If it’s still open in a year or so, I’ll assume they’ve figured out how to put together a good menu and brought beer prices back into a reasonable range and I’ll give it another try. But for now: Meh. I’ve experienced better.

Tons of potential from the outside. The only thing good on the inside was the atmosphere. Food was just ok but not worth the price. It was not busy when we walked in for a late night bite and it still took a lot of time for the food to show up. Fries and meat were cold. Way too expensive for what it was. I’m sure the drinks are probably decent. Wait staff was friendly but never seemed to care about refilling our waters. Beautiful build out on the inside. I hope they figure some things out with their food. Until then we probably won’t be back.

Such a fantastic new place in Ballard! Nice atmosphere and vibe inside. The drinks are all amazing, especially the Maple Old Fashioned. The ice cube has an orange peel frozen inside of it so as it melts you get more flavor. We also had the Bacalo Bites and Cheese plate. Both great appetizers that will definitely leave you wanting more. The staff was fantastic and our service was fast! Will definitely be coming back and bringing my friends.

«Won’t you take me down to…» Shingletown?! This is a cool, new spot on Market Ave. in Ballard. It took over the old Po Dog spot. It is a 21+ bar with several beers on tap, a decent liquor selection, and the food menu offers small plates and some entrees. My gal pal and I discovered this place on it’s official grand opening day. We walked in at 6pm and stumbled out around midnight… Apparently we enjoyed ourselves so much that we lost track of time! There’s an outdoor space that extends onto the sidewalk, and the front windows open up so that everyone gets fresh air on those nice warm summer days. The inside is rustic, modern. There’s tons of wood complemented with an exposed brick wall, and some steel elements. The drink menu consists of wine, beer(draft and bottled) and craft cocktails. There were at least 16 beers on tap and they offer growler fills, too! The food menu offers appetizers, small plates, salads, sandwiches, main entrees, and sweets. We had small snacks throughout our evening: popcorn, deviled eggs(x2), cured meats plate, and beet & apple salad. All items were pretty good, just enough to keep us satisfied. There is no Happy Hour as of yet, but we were told they were planning on it. Even though we came in on grand opening day, our service was great. Usually you expect service to be sub-par for new places, but Shingletown was orchestrated as if it had been here for ages. Major props to Joshua! We’ll definitely put this spot on our list of places to visit while we’re in Ballard.

So glad to see this new restaurant on Market Street. The ambiance is great, outdoor seating and large open windows along the sidewalk. Our first food selections were good and we totally enjoyed being there. Very busy on a weekday night less than one week after the opening! Try it!!! Our only disappointment was the french fries and we did give our feedback to the staff on that. Hence the four stars instead of five.

Last night I fell in love with Ballard all over again. I stopped hanging out in the area because I got tired of the same old places, so its great to see a new spot in the neighborhood. I had the opportunity to attend their soft opening last night and I truly had a blast. It’s such a gorgeous venue. There’s no bad seat in the house! It has a great atmosphere, huge selection of craft beers, delicious food and fantastic customer service. Definitely give this place a try if you are looking for a chill, low key pub and eatery in Ballard. Great new addition to the neighborhood. I definitely plan on going back.
