Awesome local joint. Peanuts. Good beer. Great music. Ambiance is spot on. And the owner is a good guy, to boot. Get in here!

Great neighborhood tavern! From the outside you can’t see much. It’s very hidden on the street. So wasn’t really sure what to expect when showed up with some friends on a Saturday night. Super low key, simple bar. Nothing amazing but at the same time it’s everything a neighborhood tavern should be! Good beers. Peanuts to munch on and throw on the floor! Dollars on the ceiling. Friendly staff. Good price. Sparkling waters for non drinkers(dds). Book on tape to listen to in the bathroom! Overall super fun, low key, unique bar! Would love to come back!

Smallish venue, fairly non-descript exterior and casual interior. The selection of beers is impressive, and the person serving is likely Ken the owner, über knowledgable about his craft and industry. A humble guy fulfilling quite well his vision of a humble public house w/neighborhood connections, draw, and appeal. If only I can get something like this in MY neighborhood, I would not have to travel so far for a beer.

The owner takes the time to talk to with the patrons. It small but quaint with a screaming neon sign above the bar. It’s a fantastic neighborhood joint. Fully recommend this place!

This is a beer snobs’ heaven. When you walk in you are greeted by smell of varnish and wood. There is a giant neon sign that reads«fuck Unilocal»… Kind of funny since this place is getting great reviews! A dozen fancy beers, a cider, a couple of wines, and of course– rainier cover the drink menu. A tub of peanuts serves as your bar food at this cozy, wooded, cedar-smelling spot. Wanna hear something cool? You just throw the peanut shells on the floor. **** if you have peanut allergies that get aggravated by peanut dust THEN do not walk in**** there are a few table top arcade games and a couple pinball machine on the wooded loft area. He has coat hooks everywhere! Yay! My coat and purse are set. Prices are pretty high. $ 8 for a 12oz pour of cider, $ 5 – 9 for the different beers. $ 2.50 for schooner of Rainier. I had the snowdrift cider and it is amazing! The owner(he is also your bartender) is so nice, cool, and intelligent! Bike races are on loop on the TV by the bar. Also on display currently is an antique Italian bike. Come in for a drink, be hipster.

Cool atmosphere chock full of badass throwback décor. Great beer selection and a legit, personable owner behind the bar. I’m very happy to have this place as a new drinking spot in the already awesome Hillman City.

This place is great. The owner is an experienced beer ninja with great taste in music. If you wander down to Columbia City, it is worth the stop. Great rotating taps and super comfy barstools. The neon sign over the bar is a perfect fit. Don’t forget to order up an «Old Man Provost». I had never tried that combination before but I have to admit, it was great. There is more room than expected with the quaint loft. Welcome to the neighborhood Slow Boat. We’ve been waiting for an addition like you.
