History

Established in 1975.

Small Faces has been providing high quality childcare for area families for decades. Small Faces was first established as a private childcare in 1968. In 1975 the school was incorporated as a non-profit. Small Faces began renting space in the recently closed Crown Hill Elementary School in 1981. In 1985, Lynn B. Wirta took over as executive director. Lynn guided the the school for 25 years along a path of constant improvement and growth to accommodate the children needing care. By 1995, the non-profit was occupying more than half of the surplus school and overseeing the building on behalf of Seattle Public Schools. In 2009, Small Faces purchased the building and began the hard work of renovating the building and playground. Shortly after the building purchase, Lynn retired and the board of directors hired Johnny Otto as the new executive director. Johnny, the board of directors and the entire staff are dedicated to fulfilling the schools mission for decades to come.
