Love this little gem of a bakery! Amazing pastries, good coffee, and sleek décor. Even had great music! I’m sold.

Cozy, great crusty pastries. Good hot drinks in a great locations. This is the chill spot Ravenna has been looking for. Hip but in an organic sweater and rainboots kind of way.

Be warned that this rating is based solely on the scones. This is a cute bakery in a cute, residential neighborhood with a super cute schedule too… crack of dawn(7am) to 3pm and you should come early because they sell out sometimes. Who wants to wake up that early to fight for scones? But fight you must because they have the best raspberry scones! They are just delicious, with the perfect texture and sweetness. They also have other types of scones, but I wish they had plain scones with clotted cream like you would see at British style tea parlors. I also tried the coffee, which didn’t even stand a chance to be memorable because of how good the scone was. Yeah I think the coffee was average. Service was courteous. P. S. You don’t need to wake up that early to score a scone, I moseyed in around noon and still saw a few raspberry scones available.

The cold brew was amazing and the pastries are on point. I had the top tart and the mini Kentucky bundt cake. The tart was so flakey, a great version of the classic pop tart. The bundt cake was so moist and delicious, I’d say this is a must get… I’d show you pictures if I hadn’t already demolished it.

LOVED going here while I was in town. Sod House has really delicious pastries and really good coffee. Plus wifi which is amazing. Super clean, friendly and cute décor. I’ll definitely be back when I visit Seattle next.

I love Sod House and am so happy this charming bakery opened up in my neighborhood earlier this year. Their breakfast sandwiches on biscuits are delicious and so are their large cinnamon rolls. I am a creature of habit so these are the only things I have tried to date, but everything on their counter looks amazing. Also, the décor inside is really nice too. I highly recommend this wonderful neighborhood bakery.

I love the Kentucky butter cake and the cinnamon rolls are some of the best I’ve had. Unfortunately, there have been occasions I’ve stopped by to find what I’ve come for isn’t ready yet. And then today I made a special trip there on my way to work. I arrived at a bit past 6:30 to find them still closed when they’re posted hours say they open at 6:00. Frustrating.

I am picky about my coffee and I am impressed! Wonderful flavor and my honey said it was one of the best mochas he has had in a while. Then mix in the scone and chocolate croissant and it’s a great mix. the atmosphere is warm and modern. We don’t live in the area but next time we are back at uvillage to shop, we will stop back in.

Cute little bakery in the heart of Ravenna! Went there this morning for a croissant. They warmed it up. It was delicious! I recommend this quaint little bakery. I live close by here and we’re lucky to have this bakery in the neighborhood.

I went to Sod House Bakery last weekend to meet a friend. Quite honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by how much improvement they made on their croissant! They were flaky and yummy! I’m highly satisfied with their pastries. Good job!

Sod House is a Ravenna neighborhood gem! It has everything you need to get your day off to a good start: Good, hot drip coffee, and a welcoming selection of housemade pastries– big enough to appeal to all palates, but not so big as to overwhelm you before your first morning cup of coffee. I was particularly drawn to the cheerful rainbow sprinkle-fortified«top tarts», which come in a variety of pastel hues that promise unrestrained happiness to those of us who wish we could pencil«Saturday morning cartoons» into our calendars and have it be a sanctioned weekend activity. For those of us who don’t have a sentimental attachment to toaster pastries, Sod offers croissants that have their own gravitational pull. The crusts are flaky, crisp & flirtatiously golden, and the first bite shatters in your mouth– like phyllo!– before yielding to soft and airy layers that taste of toasted butter and hugs. It pairs perfectly with a cup of black coffee and a light sprinkling of rain. Come to think of it, everything in this bakery pairs well with rain; it’s just that heartening of a place.

Great coffee, great baked goods, great ambience. I gave only 4 stars because the chairs are awful, uncomfortable and impossible for any person with wide hips to sit in. I understand they match the modern aesthetic, but you can have modern comfort for people of all sizes! The pop tarts are magic. I recommend the marionberry.

I love this place. Best latte in town, made by two wonderful young women. Terrific assortment of pastries — favorites include their house made pop tarts, biscuits with jam, and perfectly iced cinnamon rolls. It’s been such a delight having Sod House in the neighborhood. I go there to do a little work. Or bring my daughter for an afternoon escape. When I bring home pastries from there, my husband thinks I’m a godsend. You get the idea. Go there!

I stopped by here because I wanted to pick up snickerdoodles for my bf’s birthday since those are his favorite. I called ahead to make sure they had some left, and surely they had 2 and were able to save 2 of them for me — woohoo! They were really tasty too, still soft and chewy after a few hours with just the right amount of cinnamon — not too sweet or anything. The bakery is cute, parking is a little challenging since it’s neighborhood street parking, but it’s manageable. They had other delicious looking treats like cakes, croissants and pop tarts, so maybe I’ll come back another time for one of those!

Finally a place with real pop tarts. I got marionberry and strawberry ones. Also ordered a macchiato. The combination was great. I do wish that poptarts were not kept in open air since the butter had hardened and they didn’t feel as flaky once cooled down by the AC. And yes, they have AC! So great for these high 70s– mid 80s summer. Their tea/coffee selection looked great. Also had cold brew and london fog on the menu. They also do small and medium sized cakes — carrot cake, red velvet and coconut cream. I plan to try those beauties next time.

I used to live in the apartments above where Sod House Bakery just opened. I remember fondly of the old-school Morningstar Bakery, then briefly as one of my first baking jobs at Leah’s. I’m glad that this shuttered neighborhood bake shop has found new life, judging from the busy activity when I stopped by earlier this morning. The pastry case to the left had quite the assortment of miniature scaled down version of elaborate cakes. The counter also had a pleasant assortment of other baked goods like almond croissants. But I honed in on the ginormous rectangular tarts, nothing like those commercial toaster pastries. I bought one each of the strawberry and raspberry tarts and also I was intrigued by the Kentucky Butter Cake(tarts and cake, $ 4.50 each). Finally, got to sample them at home with the kiddo once I completed running nearby errands. The raspberry tart was bursting with filling, while the strawberry tart in comparison, the filling was concentrated in the lower third. I appreciated the Kentucky Butter Cake being restrained and thankfully not cloying. The dusting of powdered sugar added the right amount of sweetness. Very moist, which has me made a note to self next time to definitely check out the miniature cakes. Clearly the cookies haven’t made it out to the counter(or got cleaned out) during this visit — I’ll have to keep my eyes out for them too. I tried the challah samples by the register… just okay. Goodness, I remember prepping, braiding, and baking thousands of challah way back when! I’m a big supporter of independent businesses(bookstores, cafes, bakeries, etc), so when a business can transition from pop-up or a farmers market stand to brick and mortar, that’s very impressive. Taste is very subjective since I have my favorite spots around Seattle, but I’ll be back on a future Saturday to check out more of their baked goods and stay awhile to savor a cup of coffee in my former neighborhood. Congratulations to the owners and staff at SHB!

I had a *real* pop tart today, and I got it at Sod House Bakery. It was pretty busy on a Saturday morning. There were small tables and counter seats along the windows. My bf got the blueberry cardamon Kentucky butter cake while I had the aforementioned pop tart and a green tea with strawberry cream cake. They told me that the cakes are made by another bakery but I cannot remember the name of the place. The pop tart was flakey, slightly sweet, and had just enough filling. The blueberry cardamom Kentucky butter cake was really good — I loved the cardamom. I only took a few bites, but I think it would have been too heavy if I were to eat the whole thing. The cake was very good — bitter matcha flavor with delicate strawberry cream. My only gripe — it was $ 8! A cake of that size is usually sold for $ 5 – 6, max. I’m not sure I would go out of my way for another visit, but their pastries are solid.

I don’t always eat pastries, but when I do, I eat Sod House and I go to heaven. We stopped by on a Saturday morning and what a treat. We tried the chocolate croissant(moist, flaky — can something be moist AND flaky? well, this is, and the dark chocolate was amazing), these tiny maple cookies with some kind of filling in the middle(my favorite thing so far and sad I only got one. they’re tiny so if you get some, get about 20), and some chocolate chip cookies and snickerdoodles — both very good. I’m not much of a sweets eater, but am in love with their pastries. Would come here frequently if I lived nearby so I just hope Kayla will bring more goodies for us to try *hint hint Kayla if you’re reading this* The bakery itself is adorable. Simple, modern and apparently they’ve built almost everything in the shop(tables, counter tops and all that). Very cute. Friendly, helpful staff. Love it :)

Flaky, fresh, delicious and locally owned. I’ve had their pies, cookies, and scones. Only wish I could eat more! Owners are friendly, passionate and loyal to customer satisfaction. Congrats to the new location.

Can’t wait for the Sod House Bakery to open a brick and mortar! I’ve been visiting them at the farmer’s market and they have the best pastries! When you go, definitely get a raspberry top tart. They make them completely from scratch and they’re unbelievable. The gingerbread is really good too, but you might have to wait until the holidays come around again.
