SoNu Massage & Day Spa

I love this place. I just came back from my second visit.
My first visit I had a massage and pedicure. Sonya (sp?) has amazingly strong hands. I found my new masseuse!
My second visit I had a massage facial and pedicure. The massage was amazing yet again. Facial was great. My face is so soft. And my toes are ready for the holidays.
For the record there is nothing unease about the location of this spa. It is a few blocks from lake Washington and on a quiet residential street.
The staff is friendly and customer service is great.

Had a «Girls Night Out» at SoNu. There were 6 of us who got mani/​pedis. What a wonderful, relaxing time we had! The quality of the services and products are superb. Hope to go again soon.

I had a really wonderful experience here with the ladies of SoNu– I also had the Groupon for a shellac manicure and regular pedicure. The owner was the one who did my nails– she was so nice and fun! She took a great deal of time on my pedicure, actually probably more time massaging & scrubbing my feet than I’ve ever experienced during a standard pedicure. The pedicure chairs are also amazing. Press all of the buttons, even if it makes your body shake around in funny ways.
This was my first experience with shellac and I was amazed at how long it lasted. The owner was very clear that if I was unhappy in anyway, if my nails chipped or anything that I should just come back and tell her (and not just write a bad review) and that she would fix everything. Nails can be difficult because obviously they chip or wear off at different times depending on how hard you work or play. My SoNu shellac was seriously on there though– I went on a Florida vacation (all day at the pool, in the sun, etc) and it still lasted at least 14 – 16 days.
I’m also really happy with how nicely they’ve fixed & cleaned up that location. It used to be a yucky nail place (before SoNu moved in) that I wanted nothing to do with. It’s now clearly a locally owned business that they take a lot of pride in. It’s clean & friendly and I’ll be back there soon!

Great massage. Angela is well tuned into the body. If you are an athlete and/​or have a history of injuries… She is your masseuse.
Since I was happy with the massage I asked for a brow and lip wax. Nicely done.
It’s a small place and from the outside, a bit deceiving. But once you are inside the staff is very nice and welcoming. Clean and warm environment.
I will be back.

Had my first-​ever pedicure here today (don’t judge! lol)…and it was hands (and feet!)-down amazing in every way. I love love LOVE the small cozy intimate atmosphere from the moment you walk in. Yep it’s small… which is what I really was hoping for honestly. I didn’t want a place that made me feel at all like a #…and this place surely did not. I was welcomed right away and made to feel right at home as if I had been a customer forever instead of a brand newbie.
My appt was with Denise. and she was so incredibly patient with me, a first-​timer to the pedi chair. By the time I left that massage chair (oh btw DO mess w/​the buttons while you’re there… it’s like having a mini-​massage on the rest of you at the same time your pedicure is being done!) I not only had amazingly cute and soft feet… I felt like I had really made a friend too.
I loved the warm family atmosphere in the place… and of course I really enjoyed the complimentary mimosa while my little paws were getting the attention they so greatly deserved after all these years of working on my feet :) The soft jazz playing overhead was wonderful as well.
Yep it’s a drive for me… all the way from Bothell area to Seward Park… but you know what… the drive and the infamous Seattle traffic on lovely I-​5 mid week was totally worth it! I will for sure be back, probably on a weekend day tho LOL, to make sure my feet stay as wonderful as they feel right this minute. Why oh why did I wait so long??? Oh to find a nice place like SoNu I guess.

i bought this groupon for shellac in January 2013 and the expiration date was coming up. when I bought them I was really excited about the great reviews! so i bought them. the day came and I my mother and I went. I have had shellac before and it was WAY better! I told her not to reshape my nails or cut them down at all… next thing I know they’re much shorter and reshaped and crooked. she was supposed to get rid of the hang nails and well… I now have more and they’re bleeding or painful and the cuticles are splitting (shellac is drying but the splitting happened right after). the oil they rub into your hands was WAY TOO HOT! now on to the shellac: on most of my fingers, the shellac is off the nail bed, onto my skin and onto my cuticles OR on the other nails, it looks like they’ve been growing out for a week. my mother’s shellac: spectacular! mine… well, you make the call.

At first when I walked in, I thought it was going to be a bad experience. The place was extremely small. But once you talk to the ladies, they were all really nice and knowledgeable. One of the ladies even offered a mimosa! :) I came in with two other friends to get our nails done. I purchased a groupon for a Shellac manicure. She said the shellac manicure should last for a while maybe even three weeks. But my shellac started chipping already by the fourth day. I’ve had it for exactly one week already. I totally love the colors she suggested and the shaped of my nails, but the shellac did not last at all. Maybe because I noticed there are some tiny bubbles? But i’m not an expert. I’ve only gotten my nails done by a professional only 3 times in my life and this is the first time trying shellac. Unfortunately, I don’t think I will be coming back to this place just because my shellac manicure did not last very long.

Have you ever felt so conflicted about an experience that you really want to write an honest review but couldn’t bring yourself to do it?
This is one of those.
I purchased an online deal for a package of: signature massage, signature facial, mani/​pedi. I was warmly welcomed as soon as I walked in, and the SoNu is very small but the mani-​pedi chairs were brand new and the place looked very clean.
My appointment started with the signature massage. We started with me facing down on the table, and the massage was terrible. The massage therapist was either distracted or falling asleep, because the pressure would be less and less, and then she’d be massaging me with one hand, and then just sort of stop before starting up again. Was she texting? The room was adjacent to the front room, and there is so little sound proofing that I could hear every single thing that was going on, even people attempting to whisper.
Next was the signature facial. I was directed into the backroom that also served as a store room and hallway to the bathroom. The facial treatment room is literally a curtained off spot in the store room. Again, I could hear everything. People going to the back to get stuff, people looking for the bathroom. The esthetician did a very good job but the facial did not include any extractions. This is their most expensive facial and it doesn’t include extractions?
I was really glad to be out of the dark loud rooms into the fancy massage chairs. I wish I could say that the mani/​pedi was better. It wasn’t. The manicurist was an incredibly nice lady, as was everyone else at Sonu. But she kept messing up and the nail polish was laid on really thick and unevenly.
I really wanted to like this place, supporting a local women owned small business, but it just wasn’t up to par compared to other spas where I’ve had similar services for same or cheaper.

The spa was pretty small, but very cute and clean. There are 3 manicure stations and 3 pedicure chairs. These were the best pedicure chairs I have seen in Seattle. I believe they also have a private massage/​wax area in the back.
I immediately felt very welcomed. The staff was very friendly. My appt. was with Gayle. I have never had a mani/​pedi where the technician spent so much time making sure my nails were perfect. I am used to going to salons where they try to do your nails as fast a possible to get in as many clients as they can. This is not that type of salon. Gayle was awesome.
I will defiantly go back!

This little salon is a diamond in the rough. It doesn’t look like like much from the outside but once you get in, everything is new, very clean and cozy. And the massage chairs are the best I’ve been in.
The ladies here are very sweet and will go above and beyond to make sure you’re satisfied. It’s not the typical in and out salon where the employees don’t speak English or are just trying to get you out the door, they really want you to be a satisfied customer and take their time to make sure you are happy.
I got a Groupon for the pedicure and shellac manicure — a great deal! I would definitely give them a try!

The ladies at SoNu do a wonderful job on making you feel at home and comfortable. They use their space well and are very attentive.
I had a Living Social for a Massage, Facial, Mani/​Pedi. They were all punctual and professional. Angela, the massage therapist was awesome!
I have already recommended this place to friends and family in the area.

This is a great neighborhood resource. Despite the small size it is a full service spa. You can get a terrific massage, spa pedicure (complete with spa massage chairs), manicure, facial, and sugering/​waxing. They have shellac manicures. Although the outside appearance could use some design help to approve the street appeal — once inside it is professional, warm, competent, and relaxing. Give it a try!

I was given Groupon to SoNu for my birthday (thanks!) and was thrilled to be able to schedule an appointment online for a 30-​minute facial, 30-​minute massage, and a mani/​pedi.
When my friend and I arrived we both gave each-​other «the look» of this could be … bad. The storefront isn’t impressive and is next door to a neighborhood convenience store. However, don’t judge this book by it’s cover. Once you enter, you’ll be greeted into a warm, clean, cozy, and comfortable space.
All the services that we received were outstanding. The facial was relaxing and we talked about some easy things I could do to make my skin better. She was great at explaining each step and making sure I was comfortable. The massage was fabulous and my muscles are still thinking of it! Our last step was nails — they were expertly cut, filed, buffed, and painted.
It is clear that the staff here work as a team and really enjoy and respect each other. The space is almost anally clean (woohoo!), and the staff are so kind, pleasant, and funny.
Additionally, because the salon is owned by the staff, you don’t have to worry at all about sex trafficking or feeling guilty for going somewhere where the staff might not be treated well. These are all seasoned professionals who can now add entrepreneurs to their list of fabulous attributes.
I’m looking forward to my next visit!

I bought a groupon deals for a group of 4 for my sisters and I. My sisters were initially apprehensive of the facility from the outside appearance but inside is very warm, quaint and welcoming. Sonya, the masseuse, was great at providing different type of massages for each of us, either deep tissue or relaxing. Florida, facial anesthetist, was excellent for doing relaxing facials. There were two manicurist that did our mani-​pedis. I preferred the Asian manicurist because of her techniques. All in all, my sisters and I enjoyed our time there and would definitely go back.

I got a SoNu groupon for a mani/​pedi, and I was really pleased with the experience. My nails were shiny and well-​groomed, and the polish lasted for weeks. The place was clean, staff friendly, and reasonably priced. I would definitely go back.
