Best bar in seattle, food is great, staff is the best. Come here and come here often. It’s a wonderful place where they will get to know you’re name. Awesome décor and lively during football season. A great spot to frequent in the heart of down town. A back window with a great view(on weekends). The back bar is open.

I love this place! I work in the market, and this is a great place to cube and get away from the tourists. The bartenders are badass women who know how to put people in their place. Love, love, love it. Return customer for life.

Good location, but bartender was INCREDIBLY rude. My husband, friend, and I walked in and I said to my husband, «I’m gonna sit down if that’s ok» to him. The bartender looked me up and down and said«I need to see your ID before you sit down.» The place isn’t crowded, I’m not ordering a drink, and several people walked in right afterwards and she greeted them with«hi everyone what are you having?» She was unnecessarily rude to me. Not sure if she’s racist or what but there’s no reason to speak to someone so rudely. No excuse. This place only gets 2 stars because of the location near Pike Place.

Decent food. Boyfriends burger dip was amazing. My chicken strips were burnt to a crisp. Bartender slammed a shot when we got here, a baileys coffee, and a Jameson shot within the time we were here. She was pretty tipsy by the time we left. Not a good thing. Not sure if this place is family owned or what but that made me uncomfortable. Won’t be returning.

Yay Mima!!! This place has been a Seattle staple for a long time. I would say I frequent the place a handful of times per year. Historically, for me, it’s always been a cool place, but mediocre service, much like a dive bar which is a little contrary to the ambience of the place. I usually come late night so the crowd is small and eclectic. The bartenders can be super cool or super assholes… depending on the night. After years of going to Sonya’s and having similar experiences, I was unexpectedly surprised to have the experience I did tonight. The chef was a no show, no call and the bartender, Mima, had no hot food to serve. She made a small cheese, olives, crackers, salami plate for a couple ladies at the bar to eat. My friends and I were so hungry and it looked so good! Mima told us she was out of food but still had some things she could put together for us. Saltine crackers still in the wrapper(totally fine with that), slices of cheddar, swiss and salami brought out on a plate like a fine dining cheese plate!(With the exception of the wrappers of course… hey, she was working with what she had). Customer service is so dead. The usual response for not having a chef to prepare food would be, «sorry.» She came up with a solution that was totally acceptable, totally appreciated and totally satisfying! Thanks, Mima I will come back just for you!

I loved this place. My first time in Seattle, went to the bar for happy hour. $ 4 and $ 5 drinks were right up our alley. Came in, drank, and then explored. Was the perfect bar for what we were looking for. Drinks are stiff and bartender was friendly. Bathrooms were clean.

Went out at 145am, noticed convenience stores closed, entered for beverage received a 10 double tequila, no tip, was yelled at whilst exiting to never return. I’ve lived next door for a year now and I don’t think I’ll return

Horrible service the least the bartender could’ve done was tell us there was no table service(this happened to two other couples who walked in right after us to the half empty bar) She did not acknowledge our presence even once mind you we were sitting at a cocktail table right next to the bar and the only time she smiled was when she gave us our bill. If you don’t want to serve everyone at your bar make it apparent as to what kind of bar you are!

Unfriendly bartender with overpriced drinks. Bartender saw my girlfriend’s purse knock her drink over when we sat down and made us pay full price for her replacement drink. Small things like that has put an end to our visits to Sonya’s.

Fuck this place! If I could give 3/8ths of a fucking star I would. I jumped off a plane from Austin, TX, stopped into this shit hole of a bar at 1:53AM and ordered three shots. One for a friend, one for myself, and one for the bartender. I told her I’d give her a big tip, and she refused to serve us. We bantered back and forth for five minutes, and she said something about«dem’s da rules», «we already had last call», «blah, blah, fucking blah» and stuck with her guns. Fuck that. In the five minutes we spent arguing, we all could have had a shot, and she could have gone home with an extra $ 20. Anyway, we got denied, maybe you will have better luck at this place than we did.

I haven’t had the food here, but the bar service is terrible. There were 2 people in the entire bar and we waited 15 minutes to get served. People were smoking outside and the smell of smoke permeated the bar. I couldn’t wait to go home and shower. Has potential but it hasn’t been reached.

Dear Sonya’s, After all these years you are just as amazing, inviting and wonderful. I am currently enjoying the company of Memma, Thomas, my lady and a gin and tonic on happy hour. I have missed you and am glad to be home. Love, Shannon

I lived above this place for 2.5 years, it therefore became my «Cheers» bar where everyone knew my name as well as my dog, and yes, even my mother. It might be a bit pricey, but never a dull moment, or a lack of friends.

This is my go to bar downtown. Everyone is super friendly here. Bartenders make great drinks! Memma and Thomas are the best. Good food too! Menu is constantly changing. You have to try their garlic butter wings. Yummmmm

Bad service!!! The bartender could not walk from behind the bar to wait on us!!! We had to go to the bar to order and pick up our drinks! We sat less than 6 ft away! We made two trips in one, our first and last!!!

Do not go to Sonya’s if you have any medical conditions. Or bring your medical records, because they will ban you for it. I use to go there and brought them tons of business but due to my epilepsy, I am banned. Also, do not go there if you think it’s a gay bar. It is far from. Ask the dictator. use to be. not anymore. Go there to see the beautiful bartenders tho! dont hate… just have your medical records!

One of the bartenders here has three wisdom teeth still. How do I know that? Because he told me. That’s right he chatted me up, which in my book, is awesome. I was supposed to meet a friend for a pre-dinner drink at Sonya’s before we headed down the street. I arrived early and snagged a stool at the bar. The bartender was attentive and recognized that I was there alone and was friendly and made me feel comfortable hanging out. I also appreciated the water that the bartender gave me immediately as I ordered a drink. Way to anticipate! At 7pm on a Monday night, there sure were a lot of drunk folks roaming around. I can’t say that said folks were part of a crowd I’d normally choose to surround myself with. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that Sonya’s seems like a pretty friendly, unpretentious watering hole. Nothing really to draw me in again, but certainly nothing to keep me away. They have a happy hour that lasts from 3 – 6 and certain shots and mixed drinks for $ 3.50 all day. Judging by some flyers hanging around the bar, Miss Fuscia Foxxx performs here twice a month with some other burlesque ladies.
