Super Deli & Grocery

This place is the only place that makes the Hoagies that were popular in the 70’s and 80’s from the now closed Hoagies Corner. I missed those sandwiches that were delicious. I can’t believe that Super Deli is still making the original Hoagy Corner sandwiches. I just had the Italian Hoagy and it was the same great taste from the 70’s!!! Best sub ever

Cons:which I actually like but it looks pretty run down, not enough social media for the beer releases

If not for the farce of the sandwich, I’d score higher. How can you not like a corner store with draft beer? They have a great selection on tap, with decent seating and a screen. I was looking for a dark ale, not Guinness, and they had it. You can fill-​up growlers for take-​home ale! The sandwiches, however, are a joke. Scant ingredients served on S-​T-​A-​L-​E bread.
This isn’t a Chuck’s Hop Stop. In terms of deli-​quality, go to Super Deli for the beer and grab a sandwich at the ⁷⁄₁₁ across the street. (Note: The store changed hands a few years ago. At some point the food was decent instead of an insult.)

Been coming to this store since I was 7 yrs old now I’m 40. The current owners seem nice overall with an exception the older Asian lady she doesn’t
seem to respect the people in the neighborhood and sure has forgotten who her customers are. The sandwiches used to be amazing now they are poorly made and way smaller and a lot more money. That being said the money makes sense but slicing the meat and cheese thinner is just plain greedy along with the poor attitude and lack of customer service I’m not impressed. If it is a tavern it should look like one if it is a deli than as well it should look like one. But either way be nice to your customers.

Great sub sandwiches, I always get mine on a french roll. Also, the only quick-​mart kind of store that I know of that serves beer on tap. There’s always something good/​new on tap which is nice to try while you wait for a sandwich or just looking around. Last time I was there they also were selling Full Tilt ice cream in one of their coolers so that’s a plus.

Three decades ago this was a Hoagy’s Corner, and they keep making the same sandwiches. I like the German, on a Hoagy Roll with the works, hot (in the microwave). Many of my friends like the Cheesy British. I probably would, but habits are hard to break.
Lots of beer choices. Cans, bottles, growlers, get a glass while you wait for your sandwich.

Great place to grab a sandwich and a growler fill. The classic «Cheesy British» sandwich of West side lore is made with lots e and skill.
They have featured brewer’s nights and monthly beer specials that are a real bargain. Please come down!

Stellar beer selection, great cigar humidors, good sammies. Cum’on what else you looking for? Totally free of pretentious hipness, just the nuts and bolts of things I should probably avoid.

Pretty awesome place.
I visited this place for the first time this morning after being informed that they still had a couple of beer bottles I was looking for.
They had a great bottle selection of beer and wine. They also had about. 6 or 7? beers on tap as well (one of the taps being Boneyard!)
Owners weren’t super friendly but it was fine. They didn’t really seem too knowledgeable about beer but that was also fine too.
Prices were reasonable.
Parking is very easy. Right in front of the store — private lot.
They do NOT accept Amex, but credit cards are accepted

I go here for take-​out sandwiches as I’m not one who likes these new fangled convenience stores where you hang out and drink beer (ala Chuck’s in Greenwood) though that’s clearly what the crowds love about it and that’s great as long as they keep slinging superb sandwiches. I’ve been there abut once a month over the past year (more over the Summer) and have always been given AMAZING SANDWICHES. Unfortunately, yesterday there was a new (to me) gal and NOTHING on my sandwich was fresh. The bread which is usually so soft that it gets stuck to my teeth was so stale that it was practically croutons on one side, the lettuce was wilted, the tomatoes were mushy, the cukes were slimey… it was skimpier than usual too (missing pickles, mustard, and at least one other thing that I’ve not yet identified… but will the next time I’m in and look at the menu board). I’m chalking this one bad experience up to a new (possibly lazy but likely just not fully trained) employee who wasn’t comfortable throwing away the old food and prepping fresh stuff which is why I’m still giving 4 stars. I’m looking forward to coming back for my usual perfect sandwich and updating this all the way to 5 stars.
Oh, and please start carrying the sweet potato pop chips again! I know I’m probably the only person who ever bought them but I never found them anywhere but your shop and I miss them!

New owners! And they are better neighborhood citizens!!! There has been less noise, less garbage. Optimistic.

Feel I should write an update; I believe SDM is under new ownership and the owner & staff are very friendly & more engaging. They know their beer and like to talk about it. That’s what it’s all about!

Big fan of this place. It’s basically a run of the mill corner convenience store (chips, soda, snacks, lottery tickets, slim jims, etc.) that also serves beer on tap (rotating selection, they have a twitter account that lets you know when they have new kegs (which go quickly)) /​sandwiches and has a very wide assortment of beer/​wine/​cigars.
What sets it apart from most stores is the wide selection of beer/​cider (both in cans/​bottles and on tap) as well as a very wide selection of cigars (they have something like a 6 to 8 large humidors). You can order a pint and enjoy it inside the store (although you might struggle to find a seat) and the pints are usually only $ 3.50.
They also have a deli counter where you can get sandwiches while you enjoy your pint of beer. I usually get a cheesy British but the other sandwiches are good as well.
They also usually have specials on energy drinks (2 for $ 3 or 2 for $ 2.50 on some of the brands).
They are down the street from the Target on 35^th and Barton, so pretty conveniently located.

Meh — Sat about 6pm & one man is doing everything — making sandwiches, taking money, the line grows, he’s answering questions about specific beer wanted and I never saw him wash his hands. Yeh! You think I’ll ever eat any food from here? If I buy the beer I’ll sanitize first. Store is dirty, the one guy with black glasses is rude & totally uninterested in business. Customer service — you joke. I’ll drive further for my desire brew.

Beer heaven! Also home of the most generic, made-​to-​order sandwiches you will never be able to replicate at home. Go with the egg salad or california!

First of all, one of the best beer selections for a convenience store period. In addition to the beer selection they have beer on tap with prices BETTER than any bar or restaurant in the area. Comfortable seating and a nice neighborhood crowd.
WHATS MORE… If you’re from Western Washington and remember Hoagies Corner delis… this place has many of the same awesome deli sandwiches including my personal favorite the Cheesy British.
Good beer, growlers too and sandwiches as well as a huge selection of wine and cigars. It doesn’t get much better than Super D!

Love Hate Relationship Here. It really depends if the place is busy or not. When it’s not busy the beer selection, deli and cigars make it an awesome neighborhood stop!
But, when it’s busy, there’s a complete vibe of anger and stress as the manager dude turns into an overwhelmed human being, not well equiped to cope. If you read the other reviews here, you’ll see it’s a pretty common occurence.
Sandwiches are great, especially if you were a patron of the Hoagie’s Corner stores of the late 80’s and early 90’s. Cheesey British can be found here!
Talk about a cigar collection, all around the place you’ll find some of the best known cigars from around the world.
If you’re into microbrews, they will serve you a great pint or provide it to go via one of their growlers.

I mostly go here for the beer. They have an amazing selection for what they are — a convenience store. Really!!! There are about 6 taps, and you can stay and drink a pint (around $ 3 a pint) or get a growler to go (around $ 10). Their prices are very, very reasonable.
There is also a small sandwich making area. I hear the sandwiches are good, and the menu looks normal, with a few twists. I’d like to try a sandwich soon.
They have the normal convenience store items, plus a small tobacco area and a fair wine selection.
It’s worth going to check out — if only to say you’ve had a beer in a gas station!

Unbeknownst to most here it seems, «Hoagies Corner» used to be a chain that partnered with 7 – 11 stores across the Puget Sound area (and far beyond most likely). At the time, Hoagies was THE place to get a GREAT sub sandwich. And boy were they awesome. I mean crack, «OMG, shoot me in the arm» awesome (this was of course long before the likes of Paseo’s). They used to offer «Canadian», «British», «American», and «Italian» style subs, made in part to order, then heated up in a microwave so all the cheese and dijon-​mayonnaise tomato juice goodness melted down the sides. I still have dreams of these sandwiches from 25+ years ago, so you can imagine my surprise when I came upon it again.
I went back today, it’s still in the same spot that we used to go prior to every weekend surfing trip, and still very possibly the best traditional style sub served in the PNW. And that’s saying something.
What’s become a funky spin on the rekindled shop, is the bar feel it has. It’s cool, freaky, and weird. Like a tavern stuffed in a 7 – 11. The locals may look a little seedy, but don’t let that fool you. Everyone was super nice and friendly, with even some of the regulars trying to engage in conversation, welcoming us. I almost felt like going back in and ordering another beer (awesome beer selection, btw).
This is one of the quirkiest places I’ve been to in years. And thank gawd for that!!!
Whomever owns this place, all I can say is thank you for keeping this legacy alive!

Super Deli & Grocery is the epitome of convenient. In this one small store you’ll find a great wine selection, a rotating tap of local and sometimes even rare brews (with growler refills! Yes… you can drink IN this store!) a wide variety of cigars, and even awesome made to order deli sandwiches.
Although ownership has changed throughout the years, the current owner proudly carries on the tradition of making great sandwiches and providing excellent customer service. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable here. It’s almost intimidating to shop because it’s obvious each time I come that every other customer is a regular. Once while ordering up the cheesy British sub I made small talk with a regular who’d been coming for the sandwiches since the 80s!
This will definitely be the only place I’ll be visiting for keg rentals. I won’t forget to try a new sandwich each and every time I go back!
