My 10yr old daughter has been complaining of heel pain. Gel heel inserts were not working. I looked online and couldn’t figure out what she needed. I knew this place was a store for very serious runners, so I wasn’t sure if they’d be able to help my daughter who just runs summer track. I came in and before making to the back of the store, Zack came and helped. He listened to me, asked my daughter several questions in ways she could understand and respond. He then proceeded to explain to us what the problem was, brought a couple of options out and answered several more of my «mommy» questions. I absolutely love the service and knowledge we received and not only will we return every year but I’ll be sure to tell everyone on my team as well!

Chet is amazing, super helpful and honest. I’m just getting back into running after having my first baby and wanted to make sure that I have a good pair of shoes. At Super Jock ‘n Jill, I got WAY more than expected in regard to customer service and experience! I’ve never tried on shoes like Lenses at the eye doctor but this place lets you do just that! I wish I could give this place 100 000 000 stars. Thanks… for being awesome!

Super Jock ‘n Jill has been an anchor business in the Green Lake neighborhood since 1975. With all the various large scale box sports retailers around, glad to see a local indie continue to thrive.
Used to frequent this shop back in my hardcore running days to pick up durable gear and pre-​registered racing bibs (another lifetime ago!). This morning I’m revisting JNJ to pick up my shirt and bib for the upcoming Susan G Komen race/​walk!

I love this place and always buy shoes here when I need new running shoes. Chris Kitchin assisted me this time around, and he was super helpful and friendly. Thanks again!

SuperJnJ was my store from college in the ‘90s until I had to move to California in 2007.
SuperJnJ has been my store since moving back in 2015.
I can honestly say that the expertise, the customer service, the product selection and the counsel available at SuperJnJ is unknown, unheard of and unattainable in all of greater Los Angeles. Seattleites are fortunate to have an institution such as this.

Was able to try on a bunch of different stability shoes today OUTSIDE the store on a quick jog! What a great way to see if a shoe type, size and brand will work for my feet! Walked out very happy with my purchase. I highly recommend.

My husband and I recently got into running and have a 5k coming up in a few weeks. I bought a pair of shoes from another store that ended up being way too tight, and prior to that have been wearing the same no-​name brand workout shoes since about 2005. I loved my experience at this store! I thought it’d be crazy busy being a Sunday afternoon, but we were immediately helped by Kirby. He gave us individual attention for about an hour. The store was filled with staff, so everyone was being helped as soon as they walked in. The gait analysis was much more minimal than I thought it would be, but it was great to get such individualized attention.
I loved the experience so much, I bought shoes on the spot (even though I found the same pair on Amazon for $ 30 less). He told us to come back after our run around Greenlake if it didn’t work out. Well, sadly I ran into (no pun intended) the same issue I’d had before with these new shoes, and back I went. Kirby jumped right back in to help me and consulted with a co-​worker too. I was able to exchange the shoes for a different pair and he even threw in a free pair of laces!
I’m still struggling to figure out if these new shoes are working or not, but I was given some lacing tips to try and I know if they still don’t work, I can go back for more assistance. Also, there was no pressure! My husband tried on several pairs of shoes as well, but ended up only needing insoles for his current shoes. It was nice to not be pressured into unnecessary purchases. We will definitely be returning.

I am getting back into running after a couple years off and I went to Jock N’ Jill to replace my Brooks Adrenaline 13’s. They don’t make them anymore and you can’t order them. Naturally, they told me to try the new 16’s, and similar shoes. None of them fit right. I have wide feet and high arches, so I tried to be patient and assumed that I’m just a hard person to fit. Somehow I went from a Brooks size 6 D to a Nike size 7 B, the structure 19. Once home, I realized that the shoe didn’t even fit and that the associate likely just wanted to get me out the door. I came back the next day, and was told that my feet are actually bigger and was placed into the Brooks Adrenaline 15 in a 7 B… much better, but still not an accurate fit and I developed arch pain after a short walk. So, I came back the next day once again. The sales associate this time fit me into shoes that were a size 6 or 6 ½ but I tried on over a dozen shoes and nothing fit right. The shoes either pinched my toes, or rubbed my heels, or gave me immediate discomfort. The sales associates were starting to exchange looks and mumble to one another at that point. I was starting to get pretty frustrated at my feet and think maybe I am just not meant to be a runner. I left with the Brooks Addiction 11, even though my heart said these big heavy clunky shoes were not going to work.
I did some quick research, and read the Addiction 11 are made for severe overpronation, and I have none! So, I went down the street to their competitor, Road Runner and had an analysis done. I was told exactly what I suspected, that my shoes were unnecessary for my gait and that my feet were a solid size 6 wide (D) with high arches. You don’t say! It was all much more accurate than having someone say, «run to the door for me», which by the way I was only asked to do twice in my whole experience at Jock N’ Jill! J&J never measured my feet, looked at arches or even bothered seeing if I had any pronation in my running gait.
I will say that the customer service at Jock N’ Jill is great. This is the only reason that I’m giving them 2 stars. I love their return policy and how they don’t require a membership. I love how patient the staff is and I even learned some cool lacing techniques from them. However, what good is it when they are basically guessing and can’t find you a running shoe that doesn’t hurt? I found a shoe that was more accurate in ONE TRY at their competitor. For this reason, I felt that it was necessary to leave this honest review. Maybe the way they guess your match works for most people but it didn’t for me. I won’t be returning.

Super Jock’s Rocks! I have been dealing with Chet and the «James Gang» since 1980. Superior knowledgable and friendly staff always. Incredible selection of many brands of running shoes and apparel. The center of the universe when it comes to Running Shoe Stores. Super Jocks has always been known to go beyond the call of duty for all types of runners or walkers. A+++!

So — I’m a complete newbie when it comes to buyng running shoes. I’ve started working with a trainer, and have a goal of a 5k this summer; my trainer noticed that I tended to over pronate, so he recommended I look into some more supportive shoes.
I was a bit intimidated walking into the store, it was really busy! But I started to talk to one of the folks at the front desk, and he helped me right away. He spent the time to listen to my concerns, what I would be using the shoe for, and then came out with about 5 different pairs to start trying out. He ended up bringing 3 or 4 more out after trying on the first batch. In the end, I picked a pair of Saucony’s that I LOVE. They fit like a glove, have the support and cushion I need all while feeling light and comfy. I have a bit of a narrow heel, and this is the first pair of running shoes I’ve had in a long time that don’t slip AT ALL when I walk or run in them.
All that said — I’m really happy and will be back. The one criticism I have is that I had to approach and start the conversation with one of the sales folks. It would have been better if they greeted me & asked if I needed help.

New shoes and pod!
These guys were so helpful on finding my new trainers. I had an issue with my knee and it was primarily due to the shoe I was wearing. I was fitted and even gave me permission to run around the block to try it out. I was impressed, I thought you just buy shoes that looked fancy and cool, but apparently there are different types of shoes that’s important to how you walk/​run. Who knew?! Things are so complicated nowadays. But anyway, these people are knowledgeable and very helpful to your running needs. Check them out! You wont be disappointed. I walked out of there with my new Nike trainers, $ 100+ depleted from my wallet, but worth it for my aches and pain; I’ve seen these trainers before on a some really fast athlete on a running magazine. I kept thinking, «MAN! I’m so going to kill the streets with these,» but I didn’t. I can only hope…

I just went here this afternoon, and am VERY happy with my experience. Shortly after I walked in I was greeted by Liam? and he asked me what I needed. I told him I needed a shoe fitting. I’ve been wearing/​rotating two pairs of 2 year old Mizunos, having lots of L sided leg pain, and FINALLY found the time to come in and do something about it (short of calling up a PT). I brought my old shoes in with me, which he looked at, and then he brought out a couple of different pairs of sneaks for me to try. He watched me run and walk in the store with my current shoes, then some new shoes. They let you go outside and run around the block too, which is GREAT, because I am buying these shoes to have more support on the road, ‘cuz I save my minimalist Innov-​8s for the trails. I ran outside in a couple shoes, compared them, and even tried on a mens version to compare fits. I ended up settling on a pair of NIKES which I’ve NEVER worn before because they’ve never fit my foot right. Typically I’m 100% loyal to Mizuno for runners. I spent about an hour in the store and left very happy. They also have a great return policy if I need to use it, AND I looked around before I left and discovered they had my favorite sport bras (Moving Comfort JUNO) on sale for 30% off and in my size, so I snagged one of those too. I love their selection of merchandise and I think they have pretty fair prices. I usually never pay full price, but was happy to today thanks to the great service and I love supporting local businesses. Thanks Jock N Jill! I even had a pain free run around Greenlake after :)

I’ve been going here for more than five years now. Since I started going here I’ve been a loyal customer only buying workout shoes from here. When I first went there I’d been having some foot pain from doing squats and after them helping me get the right shoes I haven’t had that problem. This is because they have you test different shoes and watch you run in them to determine how you land. Some people lean in or out or put more pressure on their heals or the balls of their feet.
Their prices are comparable if even the slightest bit higher then it’s worth it. They keep lower inventories so you know you aren’t buying shoes that have been sitting around for months and months deteriorating. This is what happens with big box chains.
Always a great experience shopping here. Staff are friendly and super knowledgeable. They also aren’t high pressure sales people. It always feels like they have your best interest at heart. They’ll tell you the honest truth about a specific shoe or what is best for you. They also have a great return policy especially for a small shop.

Such a superior experience! I was lucky enough to get Chet, the owner, for my fitting. He was brilliant at really making sure to include the entire anatomical picture when recommending new running shoes for me. «The ones you notice least» was his motto … my feet feel like they’re in clouds. Also, I loved that I actually got to run outside in multiple pairs for a bit before making my final decision. and yes, it was even a rainy Seattle day today. Great customer service, solid return policy and genuine love of what they do here. I’ll be back after 300 or so miles for another pair ;)

Three, as it turned out. Until I had removed the original laces without paying proper attention to the rather intricate and non-​intuitive way they had been threaded through the holes, I had no idea how complicated the process could be. I hit the store at a time when Team Shoelace came to my aid, removing the too-​short, worn out laces in two pairs of shoes, listening patiently to my tale of woe, and dazzling me with their expertise in finding just the right length of laces… and properly installing them in two pairs of used Brooks running shoes. No matter how much or how little money I spend in this great store, I am always treated with patience, humor, and competence. I will be back, soon, to buy a new pair of shoes, and I am looking forward to it. Thanks, all of you.

I was wondering how a business that’s been active this long gets ⁵⁄₅ stars at 150+ reviews.
Now I know.
Steve killed it for us, my girlfriend /​hates/​shopping and dreads it more than any dentist visit but Steve made the process super easy by knowing the products well and just legitimately caring about putting the right shoe on the right foot.
I also know that if for any reason in the next few weeks the shoes don’t work out the store will work with us to get the right shoe — so awesome, just don’t go abusing their policy people!

Normally I do not update reviews, because I figure you had a chance to treat me like a valued customer and you didn’t, here’s the consequence. BUT, the store manager reached out to me, and his concern for my experience was so genuine and honest that I gave him a call, and then went in to talk with him.
He wasn’t giving me the «Yeah, yeah» at all, he was legitimately concerned with how I had been failed several times over by his staff, and honestly wanted my feedback. He let me know that he is planning a meeting to address the multiple concerns, and took note of which issues I felt were the most important, as a customer (having never been offered a half size up to try, having never been offered a refund, having been given the wrong shoe for my foot, etc) and I truly believe he plans to follow up on our discussion.
I am upping their rating based on the interaction I had with him, and his genuine concern for the bad experience I had in his store. In my book, that’s the sign of a good business person. I will give this store a second chance.

I literally love this place.
It’s not so much a shopping experience as much as it’s a running therapy session. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t end up having an awesome and inspiring conversation with a sales person who had either run a race I was training for, or dealt with an injury I was dealing with.
Which means they know their stuff. They’ll talk to you about what your running looks like so they can help you find the exact perfect shoe to fit your running habits, injuries, quirks, superficial obsessions about shoe color, etc. And then they’ll let you go outside and run in them so you can confirm.

I don’t run marathons, just 5−8k runs for fun, and I decided it was time to get proper running shoes. Initially, they watched me walk and run in diagnostic shoes before bringing out different options with the appropriate support, based on their observations. I tried four different pairs, from four different brands, and spent about an hour determining which shoes were the best fit. During this session, we never discussed prices or the preferences of anyone else but me.
The Brooks shoes that I ended up purchasing were perfect, well within my budget, and actually the same shoe that my sales person runs in!
Wonderful experience, and I will be back again for the next pair!
