The Copper Vine

I’ll put the ridiculous prices aside for now. But the small neighborhood of aphids I received with the mint plant I bought there, that’s already beyond forgiveness. And it’s not only the mint that died at the end, it was everything near it. And that’s without mentioning the small flies.
At least I used a groupon for my purchase. Otherwise, spending such money for such poor quality, would have been much worse.
Since I grew the plants indoors and it was the first plant in the house, it’s impossible for the bugs to come from anywhere else.

This is my favorite little plant store ever. Yeah, it’s small, but the plants are in such wonderful condition, probably because they’re happy, and the staff is even more wonderful. A+

I had one of the best shopping experiences here that I have ever had. We bought a lemon tree and a pot to repot it, and the owner, Kim, offered to repot it for us. Then she overheard us talking about how we were going to get it home since we don’t have a car. With out us asking, she offered to drive it over to our house after the store closed! And she gave us lemonade that she had made with the fruit from another lemon tree in the store.
Aside from the incredible customer service, this store has a great selection of plants and locally made and vintage pots, plant stands, etc – despite being tiny. You can spend a lot of money here but they always have sales and inexpensive stuff as well.

I really like this store. The people there are SUPER knowledgeable and can give you tips on which plants are best for you based on the conditions in your apt/​house and how lucky/​unlucky you seem to be with plants. They have a great selection of plants and sell items such as soil and fertilizer in portions that weigh less than a small child. I also like that they have local pottery items for sale.

The owner was very helpful, friendly, and accommodating when one the plants I bought passed away… Very nice selection as well, really a great place to shop and learn!!!

We continue to green up our apartment mostly with the help of this shop. The selection is constrained by the space, but every plant healthy enough to survive our occasional neglect has called this place home. They’ll gladly transplant your purchase into any of the eclectic pots of the moment, which change nearly as often as the flora and motivate return trips.

What a fun afternoon. I was referred to this store by a florist on Pike Street; my christmas cactus has lost the holiday spirit. I found a store full of gorgeous plants: Tiny to large, common to unusual, plants everywhere.
I went home and brought back my problem child plants for evaluation. By closing time, I had acquired a terrarium, a wild looking plant with leaves the size of my head, and a vintage water stick. Lots of helpful advice on plant care and plant selection. Very reasonable prices (I think the three plants in my terrarium cost less than $ 10 total). Will definitely return for more!

I live like 2 blocks from here and always look in the window as I walk by and at the rack of stuff they have outside also
so today I didn’t just walk on by I stopped in to see what the had and I needed a last minute gift for my Hippie friend
so I got this cool little window planter with 3 herbs in it that he can put in the window in his Kitchen and have fresh Herbs for cooking or Tea
the woman working here was very helpful and wanted to make it just right she replaced on plant that was looking a little ruff due to the cold weather I will go back here again I’m sure

The Copper Vine is cute, but tiny. I was looking for a dwarf meyer lemon or some succulents, and left with neither because of the small selection. I did end up with some lovely little cactus pots, though, and the woman who rang me up was pretty awesome. She told me all about how she bought the pots from some barefoot hippies at the flower and garden show. She even ripped the escort ads out of the portion of the Stranger she used to wrap my pots. Not that I would have been offended, but better safe than sorry.

This place is amazing! My friend found it accidentally because it’s right next door to her hair stylist, and told me we should go there; so we did.
The selection of plants at the store is rather unique. There are some things that I don’t see often in plant stores, and some things that are much more common, in other words, something for everyone. The owner of the store is very friendly and very knowledgeable about plants, I enjoyed just chatting with her.
The plants were all in good shape and obviously well cared for, I knew I wasn’t risking buying something that was sick. It’s sad when plants die, I love them so much! Given all that, the prices on everything were *very* reasonable, I was actually amazed at how affordable things were! As a permanently broke grad student I greatly appreciate that.
Left with a little tiny ivy that’s now getting quite large, and a great little orange tree that doubled in size over the past 6 months. Will definitely be back for more things! :-)

Turns out I’m terrible at keeping plants alive. Terrible! Just this past 2 months, 3 plants have met their demise, including a basil plant. Yes, a BASIL plant! Who kills basil plants? How does one even do that?
Well, despite my plants-​cidal tendencies, I like to think that the cold APT filled with plants is better than one without. So, I go to The Copper Vine every now and then, to look at some good-​looking, I mean, some seriously HANDSOME plant species and ask helplessly questions that must sound amusingly retarded to the friendlies woman-​ning the counter.
Selection is interesting and surprisingly bountiful, not cheap at all but not unaffordable either especially if you already have pots (from previous casualties, sigh) at home you can use to replant, repot and upsize. Ladies there are friendly and super-​helpful, not in a pity sort of a way because you kill so many plants, unfailingly so.
Plants 14: me 5 currently. The mortality rate of 35% would horrify some who are statistic oriented but hey, I think I’m getting better! There are still 14 more left to go around!

I’ve been driving by this place for months thinking it’s a cute little store, but things would be unreasonably expensive in there. Then I saw a tomato plant with a red ripe tomato on it and an empty parking right next to it, so I stopped by. I was pleasantly surprised that the plants were actually pretty reasonably priced and she had way more selection than I had expected. I had been looking for a cat-​safe indoor plant. Of course, every single plant I wanted was from moderately to extremely toxic to cats, but she really helped me out– even looked up a few things online– with my options, and I came home with a very pretty plant that my cats had left alone since. I will be going back the next time I need a green fix.

I came here looking for a red plant (Chinese New Year’s feng shui — don’t ask).
I didn’t leave with it, but I did leave with a great impression of this shop.
The lady was super friendly, talking over different plants with me… even after she knew I wasn’t planning on buying anything.
I’d definitely come here if I were looking for a plant.

One of my favorite places to go for gifts either for myself or others, I bought a lemon tree here as well as other house plants, they all thrive mostly because of the great advice they dole out with every purchase. Lots of recycled pots very urban chic.

everything anyone could hope for in a little urban plant shop. indoor plants, outdoor plants, pots, glass slugs, you know, all the essentials.
i don’t have the greenest thumb, and was happily directed towards the near-​impossible-​to-​kill section. i chose a plant and a pot, and they kindly repotted.
i’ll definitely be back to buy more. perhaps someday soon i’ll graduate to the less-​difficult-​to-​kill plants filling the rest of the store.

Copper Vine is the most beautiful store. It sells plants. It has the most plants. The service is nice. My dad typed this, and i’m seven.

What every successful urban village needs: locally-​owned and owner-​operated shops that provide us with what we need (or desire) with good quality and friendly service, that we can WALK to. The owner of Copper Vine has figured out the recipe, her shop is full of lovely plants, pots, gardening needs and accessories for the apartment/​condo gardener… AND she takes the time to chat with her customers. If you can’t abide the corporate, anonymous, impersonal, big boxes and their ilk, support the Copper Vine.
